Hi guys, when I try to plug my new Arc S into the pc, it says MTP driver not found... so I cant see the phone from the PC...
However, if I plug my Xperia Play into the PC, it connects without issues...
Any ideas?
If I remove the SD card, it still gives me the error, so I cant even root the phone lol
When disconnected, go into xperia settings and check 'install pc companion from phone' or similar.

I'm using Xperia Arc but yesterday my phone didn't connect to my laptop. The error announced that "MTP USB device can't install". I change from MTP to MSC but my SD card didn't appear in my pc althought all drivers were installed So sad.
I had search in google but just have question for SAMSUNG Kies not Xperia
Anybody can help me?
you can connect your phone in Mass storage mode, but you need to open the notification page, by sliding it down, when you select the option, a new page opens in that you need to select the "connect memory card" option. then you will be able to access it on your pc.
for the mtp issue, try and install this Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit , its there on the microsoft website.

Download nad install this
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463543
I had the same problem with the MTP Drivers.
I tried using SEUS for the drivers but it wouldnt work.
So i got into SEUS and reinstalled the current software and then after installation i connected Arc to the computer with MSC (MTP) and the drivers were installed.
Suggestion: Reinstall your software directly from SEUS or SEPC.
My conclusion is that the rooting did change or did something with my device.
If you need the drivers and dont wanna reinstall your Arc here is the drivers that was found through Windows 7 (64 bit).

What about 32 bit please?!
I can't install the MTP drivers as well...
/*Hello everyone.
I have rooted my Xperia Arc with EasyRoot tool, everything worked just fine, but the next day my computer doesn't see my phone anymore. I unrooted the phone, did a factory reset, but no results. The usb connecting/disconnecting sound plays, the phone is charging, but I can't access the sd card from the computer.
How could I possibly fix that?
PC Companion begins to look for the phone, but at some point it says it cannot locate it.
The pc companion also recognizes the phone if I connect in MSC, but MTP gets no response.
Edit2:
Uninstalled PC companion, unmounted SD card, checked "Install PC companion", reconnected the phone to the pc, gave me a message that drivers weren't installed correctly.
To be exact, MTP USB Device Failed.*/
Edit3:
Solved.
deleted MtpApp was the problem.
That's what you get for being new to this I guess...

Solved.
I was using XZXperience 2 on my Sony Xperia S, and then sony companion detected that i had firmware 6.1.A.1.45 and 6.1.A.55 was available, so just to give it a try, I installed that update, but that is a failed update, it says unfortunately music player stopped working, or unfortunately xperia keyboard stopped working etc. The main problem is that my system does not recognize my XS anymore, it says USB Device Not Recognized, so I cant connect it to Flashtool or PC Companion for repair. The Sad part is that I cant even connect it in Flash Mode, I tried a hard reset by using power button and volume up buttons, but no use. I should mention that once it recognized my phone when i turned off my laptop and removed its battery too, after restarting both phone and laptop, flashtool detected that phone was connected with USB Debugging OFF, though it was on, but as a try, I unchecked USB Debugging and then checked it again, and it worked. Now my Xperia S was connected in USB debugging mode, I tried to install busybox, rooted it, and tried to install CWM recovery, flashtool said that busy box was installed and phone was rooted, but it could not install recovery and I used another tool to install recovery, which had a bat file and it installs recovery automatically. But it didnt. After restarting my phone, the same issue appeared again, My PC does not recognize my Xperia S, tried previous procedure several times, but no use. Cant even repair it as my set cant go in flash mode. What can I do? have I bricked my Xperia S? I`m in Pakistan and there is no official Sony Mobile franchise as they dont launch their flagships in Pakistan. Please help me, considering I`m used to with rooting, flashing etc. How can I connect my phone in flash mode? Thank you.
C:/flashtool/driver
Open usb_driver.exe
Choose all the drivers you need (Xperia S drivers, flashmode driver & fastboot mode driver)
Your laptop should be able to detect your phone now.
Hello,
Everything was fine with my phone until I performed a factory reset because I want to sell it.
The only problem I have now is that when I connect an USB cable to the PC, it charges but can't access phone memory/sd card.
In Devices and Printers I get an extra icon every time I plug in the cable (SEMC HSUSB Device) which disappears when I unplug the cable. I tried PC companion as well but no success.
I tried to connect the phone into another PC and it starts installing drivers but one fails "xperia play semc hsusb no driver found".
I am concerned my potential buyer might have same problem.
Im running win 7 (64bit). Phone has been rooted before I did the factory reset and running android 2.3.4.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
I had this problem long time ago. I sended phone to service. 2 months later i get a phone with new mainboard. This problem is knowed in SE phones...

Did that happen after a factory reset? The phone was fine before, so I guess it must be a software issue...
Go to settings and configure usb connections to MSC (not MTP)
Or, very rarely, windows will not assign leeter to drive. Right-click on "my computer", click manage, on left side choose "disk managment"
If sd card is list, right-click on it and choose "assign drive letter" (or something like that, i forgot exact words in english)

Tried MSC but no success.
In "disk management" it shows Disk 3 Removable (G No media. That is the drive that I get when I go to "Devices and printers" and right click on the icon "SEMC HSUSB Device" which I get when I plug in the cable. The Removable Disk G: shows up shaded and nothing happens when I click on it.
Also when I use PC Companion, I can see it detects the phone when I plug the cable in. I then get a new window telling me to "Drag status bar downwards" on the phone and tap "Connect phone memory card". I go to my phone but there is nothing showing up on the status bar.

If you have locked bootlader, use PC companion to flash stock firmware (update firmware), or if you have unlocked bootloader, use flashtool to flash stock ftf (it doesn't matter was it rooted or not)
Also, if you don't have much stuff on sdcard, format it from phone's menu. If you have some micro sdcard adapter, try that with PC (maybe it's faulty sdcard)

Thank you very much Bakisha. I used flashtool with some ftf for xperia play I found online and it is all working now.
I did have some problems flashing tho. Had to install all the drivers that come under flashtool folder and then when I was connecting the cable had to wait until windows found a driver from Windows Update which took quite a while.
In the end, I got flashtool to flash my phone and now is all good. Ended up with all the game demos and apps that came with the up that have I have deleted...
Again, thank you all guys. Take care
