How to install AOSP Browser on the N7 Now with an updated flashable method

Tired of 3rd party browsers? Need flash?
Here you go
Before going on, this flashable ZIP is the easiest way:
4.2.0:

Here is the link to the apk I used, it is from a Nexus S JB ROM, but ICS may work too. IDK:

I used ES file explorer with root permissions to do this.
Just place this app in your /system/app folder, change the permissions from rw------- to rw-r--r--
NOW this is important, If you see a browser browserproxyprovider.odex You should rename them! I just threw a 1 after the file extensions.
If you don't do this step the browser will just forceclose.
Now reboot and you are all set
I haven't tested everything yet. But it loads webpages and the settings menu. I will check flash and make sure everything is fine with chrome when I'm no longer in class.
Flash work perfectly. Better than it did on ics

Note: If you have any issues, please try wiping cache and dalvik

I think you'll need the JB version, am fairly sure you could extract the one from the new AOSP ROM.

Is there an AOSP Rom for the Nexus7?? I searched the Dev thread and saw none.

I did pull the browser from a AOSP JB rom for the Nexus S. It force closed again when it tried to sign in.

Thank you so much. Flash is working and everything seems good, except for my bookmarks (as theres no option to sync browser in Accounts). Time to ditch Dolphin at least!

It will go fullscreen, but going landscape doesn't expand it (looks squished)

You want an amazing browswer WITH flash on the Nexus 7

do you need to be rooted to be able to do this, i tried copying the apk file to the /system/app folder but it couldn't copy it

Yes you need root to change the permissions and rename the system files in system/app

Op you are awesome, I just ditched dolphin today and I don't like chrome.

Glad it works.
I like chrome, I just can't understand why they didn't include flash. I use chrome and flashify so I can easily switch to browser

Thanks for the AOSP Browser apk, is working great on my side and flash works great, I just uninstalled Dolphin, even the bookmarks widget is better.

Make sure you make system writable in settings.

Hmm, I just tried it out and it worked fine on Amazon prime if I was already in landscape when I went to fullscreen. Finally lol .

Gmail attachment won't work !

Hello ,
Like to thanks for all of you guys and guls who help to come up with this stable ver of Cyanogenmod Ver 10.00 which i have installed and everything is working fine just noticeed today that when i try to send any email using Gmail client with and attachment even though attachement shows in the box but on the other side mail showed up blank no attachemnt ??.
Also there is a update in the market for the gmail client which i tried to update but can't everytime i try i got the message that file is not signed unistall the previous ver and reinstall but i don't have any uninstall option? any help here please and thank you.

It sounds like you need a file explorer with root access. Just find one from the play store, make sure you have read/write and boom uninstall it from there.

Go to system/app and delete the gmail apk. Then reboot, go to the play store and install gmail.

Thanks i was able to find the gmail.apk but for some reason it won't delete any way i am able to send the attachment with a file explorer root but i cann't update gmail application from market as i got always error saying that package does not have the correct signed something ?

I don't know what to tell you. The only way you are going to be able to update it is if you delete it first.

Any idea how do I do that as I remove the account and stop the services still no luck?

Ok I fixed it installed titanium backup and using that uninstalled the old Gmail and rebooted and than download the new one from play store thanks all.

Try downloading zipsigner from the market & signing the apk, then install the new signed apk, & then press the thanks button on this comment

I'd like to say thanks, but still didn't work. I tried with the new signed .zip and it failed. I used root explorer to move do system apps, the apks inside the zip file too... but even changing permissisons to rw--r--r didn't work! T_T

I did it. I moved the Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk out of system/app and it showed! but i can't sync any calendars becaus my accounts won't show!

I do have a samsung account configured on my device. But I don't see samsung push, maybe this is what is missing....

Thanks guys, I went ahead and wiped my system and data, and reinstalled the rom, then i got samsung apps from this website:

Gmail V4.3 apk?

Hi there all,
Does anyone have the Gmail 4.3 apk?
Whenever I try to update my Gmail app I get a parsing package error?
It tells me to ininstall it and then reinstall the latest version, could I just overwrite the app with the .apk from my handset if I had it?

I did some Googling and it appears that the packages for preinstalled Google software has been signed wrong.

I can't find it neither. It is only in play store but my device is incompatible ... I need an apk.

That's odd because when I open Gmail and look in settings its definitely 4.3 and that's the only apk in system /app that I have, I guess it must be somewhere else sorry about that.

Uh oh, uninstalled Gmail with TiBu, tried to reinstall it from Play Store got 'Incompatible Update' Error, I'll try again with the .apk...

erm, $hit, wouldn't install, so renamed the .apk to gmail2.apk, tried to move it to /system/app and it wont let me move it, bear in mind I am doing it from Astro File Manager...
$hit will I need to reflash my ROM?

Haha, I had, but stupidly I'd deleted it like a fool. Wanted a clean run for the install, I rebooted the phone, cleaned cache and tried again from the Play Store, it installed!!!
Looking at 'About Gmail' settings now and can see it's 4.3 and now I can get regular updates

It does work in Sense, but you need to disable the Power Saver notification with this wonderful mod.

i think ur rom is highly debloated and because of this some music lib files are missing so now
u have to contact OP.
