Most stable/updated rom on 2.3.4? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Using Aokplay ROM ICS for a few days and while I like it,the battery drains quickly and most games don't work.
Planning on switching back to GB (last rom was TEAM Stock) was using a locked bootloader then but now it is unlocked, what are some good ROMs to use?
Thanks for the help

All gingerbread roms are stock 2.3.4 with the developers theme and a few tweaks/scripts already installed. Most roms won't affect battery life, what you need to do is install a custom kernel i.e. doomlords which will give you a performance and battery boost.
EDIT- Also some apps may have been added/removed.

build #3003 is the best atm:

Spent a couple days on TrueAncestor and it's fine but the battery life drains a little bit than stock

I liked JokaWild 3.0 with DoomKernal 3013.

[Q] Most Saving Battery ROM

Hello, i want to ask about custom rom and stock rom that the most battery saving, could u tell me what rom is it? because my gio is really wasteful, its only standby for 6-8 hours
FYI : i have stock rom with S5660DXKP6
Jonas hendrickx rom has great battery life.
Sent from my GT-S5660
giopro 1.4 also has good battery life
Right now using CM7.2, lasts a lot longer than stock.

could you all tell me how long your battery life is? and is it stable?
Usually GioPro 1.4 lasted me about 2 days with regular use (some calls, angry birds, a little wifi usage, screen brightness level medium)
Not that bad of a rom, actually.
I tried different ROMs and for me, stock with custom kernel and the same settings across ROMs, it lasts the longest.
I tried stock, CM7 by phiexz, CM7 by squadzone, CM9 (GalaxyICS) and now I'm running stock with phiexz' kernel.
About 12 hours even with constant Internet access (WiFi/HSDPA).

Changing kernel? Easy peasy.
Run download mode, flash CWM with Odin, reboot to recovery.
In CWM, mount /system, install zip from SD, choose the ZIP with kernel and voila. You might only want to apply Superuser ZIP too. Pre-rooted kernel from phiexz doesn't appear to be really rooted.
And voila. NoFrills CPU control is there, Superuser is there. You've got control over your superquick smartphone .

Inviato dal mio GT-S5660 con XDA PREMIUM
For a ROM with good battery life, you could also try "Particle ROM". With low usage (a bit wifi, standard apps, no games) I get 3 days, sometime even 4.
madelgijs
phiex rom, no doubt
Adrenaline ROM really has improved battery life than stock.
This is the BEST, Hands down, most Battery Saving Rom:
It must be built from Source (Aosp) (Like GB, CM7, CM9)
And most of it depends on the Kernel

Best ROM and kernel for Arc?

Hey all,
I've just bought one of these and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
In the meantime, I'm looking for custom ROMs and kernels to use but there are just so many.
The reason I bought one is because I bricked my previous phone. I'm currently using a really old phone and intend to use the Arc as soon as I get it and I probably won't have a lot of time to do testing of my own.
What I'm looking for is a really stable ROM that has good performance and very little bloat installed. As for the kernel, whatever people think is the best will do. I probably won't be overclocking the phone (most likely underclocking) as the main thing I want from my phone is good battery life.
Thanks for any input!
jjHybrid Rom 3.2 and Arcknight kernel 3.3 no overclock.

So my phone arrived and it's been updated to 4.1.B.0.587.
The bootloader is locked and I want to keep it that way just because I don't want to mess anything up.
I was wondering am I able to installed the locked bootloader version of JJ's Hybrid ROM 3.2 Stable on 4.1.B.0.587?
Thanks.
PS - I would have asked this on the development thread, but I don't have enough posts to post there.

You must root your phone using this method
Then you can proceed to JJ's Hybrid
best kernel is the stock kernel
and the best rom is the stock rom with all bloatwares manually removed, manually tweaked, manually supercharged, manually installed Mods...

Had been using MIUI (Chi Ver) for a month and then gave up.
JJ's HYBRID ROM v3.2 is good but I had to install the AnyLocale.apk and JAYS_Headset_Control.apk to make it works.
Been using Xperia Ice Cream Pureness (Build 10) with .431 then .587 for a week and love it.
Love them both because of the on screen button.

JJ's and CM9, which one you would like a bit more ?
I did tried several ROMs but never the CM series before :silly:
..
If you don't care about graphical user interface ,defintely JJ hybrid rom is great (fast - compatible with games - has ROM control as well) ,few bugs though like wifi hotspot http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1537717
If you care about having nice user interface with reasonable game performance you can try Jelly sandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1836993 or the Remix http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1884958
For the Kernel i always advice to use stock kernel in order to avoid battery drain issues

[Q] Back to complete STOCK / best CM7 Kernel?

Hey guys,
I tried to find a thread about my question, but couldn't find a convenient one.
How can I reset my LT18i to complete stock setup? Including ROM, Kernel and Baseband? Maybe unroot it too.
A further question as an alternative for me..
What is the best Kernel to use in CM7? I'm currently on 2.6.32.9-FXP, but games tend to lag, battery unloads very quick. I have to reload the battery at least every night.
Thanks in advice.

okay. I tried doomkernel v22 now, flashed it and installed the modules. but after rebooting the touchscreen doesn't work in CM7 and I got no service. however, the touchscreen works in bootloader/CWM
i'm using CM7 FXP130, baseband 72
I flashed the kernel via fastboot to replace the actual FXP kernel.

1. You can't use Doomlords Gingerbread kernel on CM7! This one is the correct one -> Doomlord CM7-kernel
2. And baseband 72 is not for 2.3.x based ROMs..

so go on and flash it and try it i think you will like it.
