VZW GNex. Will getting a replacement fix this? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I'm one of the unfortunate users that has the stupid mic muting issue. I've just been dealing with it and waiting to see if a update from vzw ends up fixing it. Well, it's been five months and still no update. I rooted my phone immediately after the first time I ran into the problem. I'm on the 4.0.4 radio now and it's still there.
So has anybody had luck switching out devices? It sucks because my screen is beautiful and the call muting issue is the only one I have. Should I go through the hassle of getting a replacement?
Edit* crap, can a mod move this to q/a.

I've never had this issue on my LTE GNex. I don't believe its a common issue. I would definitely get it replaced.

what exactly happens that mutes it, and for how long? does it happen when you are not holding the phone?
reason i ask, is the microphone is a tiny hole on the bottom of the phone, and if you hold the phone like many do, with a finger underneath, even slightly blocking this hole will completely mute the microphone out.

To all Verizon Galaxy Nexus users who have no idea what issue we are talking about, read the following:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24019
It basically happens on full signal (with LTE and/or CDMA turned off and on), stationary or moving, under bluetooth + speaker + ear piece while physically holding the phone or not, makes our voice turn into a choppy robotic sound and we can hear them but the other party can't hear me.
Only resolution to this problem is hang up and call again.
There is a huge variation among devices, some has this issue as soon as 5 seconds into a phone call, some have it well into 15 mins or even 40 mins into a call. Some happens basically on every other call, some happens once in a bluemoon.
Yes, we've all tried every single ROMs and radios. And yes, we are not holding it wrong to cover our mic with our finger tips.
And yes, it is not user error because it happened to all 2 new gnex and 2 refurbished replacements STOCK without any apps on it. I got mine to happened on pretty much the entire state of california (I travel very frequently from SoCal to NorCal)
The only reason a few might not face this issue is simply because 1) either they picked the cream of the crop out of all these affected devices 2) not using the GNex as a phone as much as some of us do.
I simply do not use GNex for business purposes...
To OP, getting a replacement might help a little but no promises.

Man I'd have replaced it long ago. I would imagine it's hardware related or they would've pushed an OTA to fix it. I read somewhere that Verizon stated an update would be sent out that would fix it, but I'm not buying it.

Yeah I'm just scared to swap it out and receive one with a ****ty screen. Plus I have a invisible shield on here. And there's no guarantee it will be resolved. Has anyone had any luck with swapping them out? I really don't want to switch to a different phone. I've waited for a nexus device to hit verizon for so long.

Ya know, honestly, I'm not all that impressed with the phone. I've only had it a couple weeks, but it doesn't do anything better than the Epic 4G Touch that I came from. The E4GT was awesome, the Sprint network, not so much. The camera and battery life were just so much better and I'm struggling with that.

Gotcha Bro
FNM

I just got off the phone with VZW about this very issue. They said they have a release tentatively scheduled for May, but "tentatively" could end up being August. It's a known issue so, there's no workaround for it and getting a replacement probably won't help.
The only thing they could possibly offer is switching to another device altogether. Spec-wise, the Galaxy Nexus is at the top for me so I don't want another phone. (frustration)
Alas, depending on what's important to you, you may just be better off waiting for the update. :-(

This is why I'm glad I asked. I don't want to bother with getting a refurbished phone for nothing.

I know it's kind of a old thread but wanted to update my experiences.
I am on my second replacement now and I'm sticking with it. I've had the issue maybe 3 times in the month I've had it. My first replacement had a terrible screen, crappy signal, and the muting issue happened just as frequently as before if not more.
I'm assuming this will never be spoken of by Samsung since we've already had the phone almost a year with no acknowledgement. I just hope the next nexus is a different manufacturer (HTC especially) since every Samsung phone I've had has had issues with the actual phone part. My first being the fascinate and now this. Especially since if I want to upgrade from now on ill end up paying full price.

I have had the same problem.
I've gone through 2 replacements and still the same issues have occurred. The update that was supposed to fix this was released in May and it fixed nothing. I called Verizon several times asking what will be done about this. Their answer is that another update will fix this. I frankly don't believe it.
Verizon also told me that Samsung is aware and they're "actively" working on a fix.
Being that I use this phone to make business calls, I can't have a phone that I can't depend on. Their answer: We can give you the RAZR. Not the RAZR Maxx - the RAZR.
I said that won't work because the RAZR doesn't compare to my phone as far as specs go. It's worth 200 less than my phone on their website.
The only phone that compares to mine is the Galaxy S3. Not to mention, I flat-out don't like the RAZR (or the RAZR Maxx). They said they couldn't give me the S3 because the phone was just released.
So, in short, I'm VERY upset with Verizon, because I don't feel like I'm being treated fairly. I'm willing to wait for this so called fix they will push out since my warranty is until December and they claim they'll get it right this time. But if this doesn't work....well, I feel sorry for whichever Customer Rep catches my evil side lol.

Yeah they are gonna get an earful tomorrow when I call. I've had the phone maybe 18 days and it didn't start this until day 11 and ever since its been non stop. I don't think any of us should suffer through calling 10-15 times per 30 minute conversation.

Exact same story they told me. I'm in my 5th device. 1st one camera broke completely and signal issues. 2nd one screen had a nasty yellow tint on half the screen. 3rd one had the worst screen I had ever seen. I wish I would have taken pictures to show. 4th one was great till the ear speaker completely went out and the speaker broke. 5th one that I currently have has a beautiful screen with no issues so far.

VZW tech support

I have been dealing with verizon tech support on my phone a ton lately. Can they tell over the cell signal if the phone is son/soff or rooted/unrooted. I'd like to be son and 7.01 radio but incrom is tons better than unrooted
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
That I know of they can't, what problems are you dealing with on your phone that you need to call them? the reason I ask is because they might be rom specific problems
Well, since new on any extended network areas, data and incoming calls are fine. Calling out I get a prerecorded message saying Please reenter the 10 digit number you are trying to dial, do not hit send. Sometimes that work maybe 50/50. They warrantied the phone about 2 weeks ago, same thing. Last night on the phone they offered me a $100 trade in credit on my inc for any recertified phone.... but its droidx, droid pro, or samsung fascinate. I'm not impressed with any of em. Been tons of roms and the 7.28, 9.01. and 11.XX radio, all the same. Verizon TS from a payphone last night couldn't even see my phone on the network, but they swear theres nothing wrong. i was temptedn, but root the dtock rom so I can switch back and forth as needed.
Sorry to hear, I hope everything works out great. I guess to see if their suggestions work maybe you can try returning your phone back to stock, I don't think it would hurt.
I hope it does too, but this has been ongoing since we got the incredibles when they first came out... VERY frustrating
wow, i really wonder how much their tech department really knows, seems like they have many problems they can not figure out. my wife and i just got two dinc's through verizon about 3 months ago, mine is fine and have had zero issues, but my wife's is a whole different story.
notice hers would stop getting text and phone calls a few times a day. we would be in the middle of a conversation(text that is) and she would just stop receiving my texts, i would still get hers, and i would try and call and it would ring normally on my end and go to her voice mail. She would not be getting anything on her end, until sometime later they would all flood in at once.
well this was happening almost from day one, her phone was stock, then i rooted it and tried different roms and kernels and still same issue. well i have called verizon and talked to techs on at least 5 different occasions, and they have completely replaced her phone with a newer Dinc, yet same problem persist! it is in my opinion that the problem would have to be on their end of it,since two phones in a row are doing this, and mine on the same account in the same area does not do it. i am getting ready to call again today when my wife gets home from work, oh yea it sunday not sure if they in so maybe tomorrow. but this is ridiculousness, they just keep having me go through settings and resetting phone to factory and all that, i just can not see it being the phone at this point, but they are convinced it is.
Tech support level 2 has the network team looking at my call log. They are supposed to call me Mon. evening to let me know the results. They also offered me a hundred dollar credit on any recertified phone. I'm just not impressed with any of those phones.

Ok, sort of decided to try a different phone. Any opinions of droid x, the fascinate, about any non htc phones would be nice. Leaning towards the X since it seems to have a huge dev base here also.

The moto phones have locked bootloaders meaning limited customization if that's an issue for you.

Having "friends" that work for VZW, I really don't think 1st level support can look and see if you are rooted or not. I do, however, think that level "3" and up support can tell. I know they have the means in place to start monitoring what phones receive updates and what phones do not update. I also don't think they are going to worry about the DIncs, but they may focus more of the newer 4G phones that have been rooted.
OK, verizon is insane. They are under the impression I'm trading in my inc under their advice for 100 bux towards another model phone at full retail price. That is SO not happening. I did find this thread http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...ne-can-help-me-reprogram-a-flashed-Incredible
last night. If that information is correct for the settings I think thats at least part of my issues. Can anyone confirm those are correct? My wife is about 800 miles from me with her inc for me to just look and see. US Cellular is sounding more and more inviting this week.
Talked to a person at home last night on craigslist. Wants to swap his 6 week old droid X for my incredible. Verizon didn't care but said it wouldn't be insurable. Assurion said sure no problem. I love consistently wrong answers
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
And has anybody here had experience swapping? Besides phone condition and bad ESN anything to be on the lookout for?

I bought my Incredible used, then sold my D2. Motorola build quality is good but I had their UI and locked bootloaders. As far as I know, when you get a used phone, you don't get the manufacturer's warranty but you should be able to insure it. Condition and ESN/MEID are the main things to look out for.

Have traded before without issue. Good luck!!
Talked to Verizon to make sure it was acceptable with them. Now they tell me if the trouble tickets are not cleared and the problem fixed by next Friday their policy is to replace my incredible with a similar value model. Some 2 week ticket policy nonsense. I really wish they could make up their collective minds. Person I'm swapping with did not mind waiting till next weekend, especially since if verizon tech support does not come through, I'll take the inc to the local stroe, swap it for a cpo one, then swap that for the droid X. I still have ZERO confidence its going to affect my problem is the sad part
well finaly my wifes phone is fixed, she is now receiving text all the time and on time.
here is the kicker, several tech support calls ago i asked the tech if changing phone mumber might work, considering they had already replace phone and problem did not go away, and i figured if it was account settings then it should effect my phone as well. so finaly i talked my wife into changing phone number, kinda of last resorte for her, well finaly she listened to me and it has almost been a week and no missed calls or texts, before it was happening seveal times a day, very very anoying!! but it is all good now.

4th nexus same issue

As of now I'm on my 4th Gnexus and once again I'm being plagued with the same issue I have since my first one back on launch day. Loss of voice during a call, high pitch noises, (think scratching on a chalk board) loss of sound on all key press as well as numbers when dialing.
I have called about this issue. First time around Verizon said take it back get a new one. So I did that and so on happened 2 more times same issue same results. Now on my 4th one its starting again. So verizon said it was Samsung and Samsung said Verizon.
So I was hoping for some input on what direction I should go now.

This is an obvious case of user-error. The odds of getting a defunct phone that many times in a row is about like winning the lottery, literally.

when you said high pitch noises, do you mean that during a call you can hear a buzzing sort of noise when people speak? I get that on my nexus too, it's slightly irritating but I'll live with it, better than spending time to unroot it, go back to stock and then waste a whole week in the service centre.

It's obviously not user error.. If you read a bit you'd see there is a very lengthy thread about this very issue.. It's called microphone cutting out during call or something like that.. You can replace your phone as much as you want, it's not going to change it. the cause is unknown but I believe they have at least determined it not to be hardware..

That is correct. Audio outbound gets garbled and then lost completely. This is the worst bug of this phone. I can't count how many phone calls where I'd have to hang up and redial because the other person couldn't hear me anymore.

I'd blame the carrier, as i'm on Orange UK, and I use T-Mobile UK as well, and call quality both ends, is excellent
Your wife may not have the issue but are y'all talking on the same tower when the issue arises? I'm on Verizon as well and never had this problem. That said, I don't talk a lot, maybe 400 minutes a month - mostly to my boss that has an iPhone so half the time I can't hear crap anyway due to that fact.
I will say, as a recent T-Mobile transplant that has used Verizon off and on for several years with work phones, Verizon doesn't seem to have the same call quality in general terms. Maybe it's just my ear, but even back in the day I owned some Motorola claim shells that sounded pretty muddy.
Have you tried to replicate the problem on a completely stock phone with no 3rd party apps? I wonder if there's a conflict somewhere.

I pretty much tried everything. New sim cards, using it with nothing installed (stock) I'm super bummed I been waiting on a nexus device to hit Verizon for a while now. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to put up with this.
What about rolling back onto 3G? Are you on the fringe of LTE connectivity at all?
I know a lot of people talk about call quality. Frankly, I haven't experienced any issues and no one has told me that it sounds like crap (and believe me, I have friends that would mention it, we're a HARSH bunch). I don't doubt they exist, and you certainly don't sound like 3/4ths of XDA that are overly dramatic whiners. Out of curiosity, roughly how many minutes a month do you talk? Any chance that it's just an issue where, well you know, the more you do something the more opportunity to experience something that goes wrong? I used to talk a ton for work, like 3000+ minutes a month. I had a lot more dropped calls then than now, know what I mean?
You know what I'd do, which Verizon would HATE but, hey, you are the customer. I'd take you and your wife's phone into Verizon, and have them flip the numbers around. Keep EVERYTHING else about the phones the same. Her apps stay, your apps stay, just swap the numbers around and try her phone with your regular use for maybe 3 or 4 days. If you can replicate the problem while she doesn't experience the issue at all on your phone, then you can probably narrow it down to either the tower your on, or maybe the phone really is just buggy after you've been on it for a while.
Every so often I'll have a long conversation and a call gets dropped, but I've never not been able to hear someone or them not be able to hear me. Like, they're the typical issues that you could assign to either being a tower pass off problem or the nature of LTE long before the phone (on either my end or the other person's end). But, like I said, that's a rare occurrence for me.
What version of ICS are you running? I had this same problem, specifically and most frequently the one where the audio cuts out of a call, sometimes it'd do it and force me to re-call my girlfriend as many as 3 or 4 times in an hour.
What fixed it was flashing ICS 4.0.4 released from Google themselves (if I waited for Verizon to do it I'd probably be single by now). This fixed it for me immediately right out of the gate. I've had the other issues you spoke of every so often but the audio cut out was constant. This fixed everything. Been running for a while without problems (month or so maybe?).
Eh...you didn't flash it straight from Google. At best, you flashed it straight from the Verizon/Google ota server the test ota is on
I stand corrected, this is what I get when trying to post while on hold at work. Not straight from Google, leaked 4.0.4. Originally found it elsewhere linked to a google domain site, but it's best served up here.

Did not fix the microphone going out issue for me :-( I just flashed the 4.0.4 leak on Tuesday hoping it would alleviate this problem, but I had the mic go out about 15 mins into a call last night. Same story as with stock, had to hang up and re-dial to continue the conversation.

[Q] POLL: Verizon Galaxy Nexus In-Call Microphone Issue - Location Map

Hi everyone. I, as many others, have been having an issue with my microphone cutting out during a phone call. I have a roooted Verizon Galaxy Nexus running the 4.0.4 leak, but it appears that for everyone who is having this issue it doesn't matter which ROM you're running or even if you're rooted or not.
[EDIT]: It per one of the posters below, this is not so much a "microphone" issue as it is an "outbound audio" issue. Unfortunately I can't edit the subject name to refer to this, but for me personally when I've been doing google searches on this issue the first word that came to mind anyway was the word "microphone" or "mic" anyway.[/EDIT]
People have been trying different things like flashing different radios, muting and unmuting, turning off voice privacy, etc., but it seems that nothing helps. Not even several hardware replacements or sim card replacements.
However, I did notice a pattern from different forums, etc. It seems that some people either have the problem all the time, or not at all, and it seems that some people reported that traveling to different metro regions affected whether or not they had the issue.
So I was curious to see if the pattern has to do with geographical location as an issue with Verizon's network, vs. hardware/software issues.
This poll has 50 possible answers, 1 for each state. Please answer this poll ONLY if you ARE experiencing this issue, and please only vote for your state if you live in the state's capital. For example, I live in the Denver metro area, so I would vote for Colorado. However, if I lived in Fort Collins or Grand Junction, I would NOT vote at all.
If you have traveled and visited another state's capital and have had this issue there, you can go ahead and vote for it as well.
It will be interesting to see if we have a lot of hits in certain major metro areas and none in others.
[EDIT2] Also, if you don't have the problem at all, go ahead and post a comment with your location. In fact, it would be interesting to see if people don't have the problem but others in the same city do. [/EDIT2]
Thanks!

If holding the phone different worked for you, then you don't have the issue this is referring to. This issue can happen with a wired headset, Bluetooth headset, on speaker phone, which none of these would be affected by how you are holding the phone considering you aren't using the mic on the phone. The people on the other end hear a series of clicking sounds, then no audio.

I realize you're trying to help, but you really don't understand the issue. The OP really didn't describe it properly, as it's not a "microphone" problem, but rather an "outbound audio" problem. I use mine at work as a speakerphone with it sitting on my desk, and I lose outbound audio all the time. Others have the problem with a bluetooth headset. I don't doubt that there are some people who have had an issue with covering the microphone hole, but that is not what this thread is about. This is an ongoing issue that people have been troubleshooting for months, and Verizon/Samsung is supposedly working on a software fix to resolve it (I'm not holding my breath).
I had the same problem on my 2 rogers GNs(GSM version)
after I upgrade my baseband to i9250xxkk6, the problem gone
I like the OP enthusiasm, but I don't think you will be able to glean any info on location. Owners are too spread out. Maybe in a few months.
I'm in Raleigh, NC.
I got my phone on release day and noticed this problem a few days later. I've since replaced the phone, then the SIM card (a theory that it was SIM-card related was floated over at AF).
After changing the SIM card the problem seemed to go away for a couple of weeks, but it came back with a vengeance.
I hate the idea of getting a "refurb" from Verizon (I put refurb in quotes because, based on the FIVE refurb'ed Incredibles I had, I'm pretty sure they don't do anything except replace the glass if it's scratched), but I guess a functional refurb would be better than an aggravating semi-functional new phone.

I can't help but be reminded of Steve Jobs.... "You're holding it wrong!"
I'm glad your phone is working properly but, as others have noted, this is most definitely not the problem we're talking about.

Thanks for clarifying, I edited my original post, unfortunately I can't edit the subject name, but you're right, it's outbound audio and not mic. Thanks again!

You're right, I was caught up in it at the moment and thought it would just be interesting to see how the issue maps out, but this little poll in no way is a troubleshooting tool, more of a type of infographic maybe?
The only fix is going to be a software update from el goog. can't wait for it!!!
I just got off the phone with Tech Support about this.
The Level 2 agent found an internal support document about the problem and read me what it said for the fix.... It says that the upcoming software release is going to cover this. It goes on to say that the tentative (dammit) release date for the software release is late March.
I don't want to trade in the new phone that I've babied since day 1 for a refurb of unknown quality if a fix is coming within the next couple of weeks.
If they don't release the update soon (which wouldn't surprise me at all), I'll probably just flash a new ROM & radio.
Flashing a new rom/radio does not help. I'm running nothing stock (leaked radios, CM9 Kang Nightly, Franco Nightly) and I still have this issue.
Good to know I'm not alone, Minnesota is currently winning! :-\ :-(

I was told the same thing by VZW support, but mid-march... which is NOW! I'm really getting sick of this. Ready for the fix and some info.
I have the same problem on the GSM version. Also Raleigh, NC.

[Q] [VZW Nexus] Is swapping GNexus worth it?

Okay, here is the story. After owning the GNEX since Dec. I've yet to have a problem that wasn't overcomable (if that's a word), except for 2. Randomly my phone will mute itself and I can hear the person I'm talking to but they cannot hear me. I cannot duplicate this and I can't pin-point scenarios why this happens. This has happened with certified like new GNEXs also. I've talked to numerous vzw techs over the past week and I have one now that has offered me a new RAZR MAXX. My question is, "Is it worth trading?" I had a BIONIC for a month and hated it cause the screen was terrible. Is the MAXX worth it? I know I'm asking this in the GNEX forums but I'm hoping someone can talk me out of the trade cause I really love the GNEX but the random mute thing and the constant 4G dropping to 3G is killing my patience!!!! The 4G drops have been going on for about 3 weeks now and it's all but put icing on the cake for me to trade. It's happened on my like new device also. What do you all think?
Is anyone else experiencing any of these problems?

I would wait for the 4.0.4 OTA to arrive. People who have flashed the radios claim that those problems are gone.

I tried the 4.0.4 radios and roms and the problems were still there on both devices. I'm not sure what's going on.

I've had the muting issue once that I know of. I rarely talk on the phone though. Unless someone is in the hospital or something serious is going down. I just prefer text. It may be a reoccurring problem for my phone, but I just don't know. Other than that, my phone is running perfect. If I were having troubles like you and my certified replacement was also, i might give a certified replacement (or request a brand new replacement) one more try before going with the maxx. My wife has a regular razer, and its a good phone for here usage.
3 strikes and you're out
Thanks for the input. My problem is I'm on my phone constantly, both emailing and talking. The muting issue and the 4g dropping are both big concerns for me. Its embarrassing when clients can't hear me but I can hear them and then I have to hang up and call them back. Its funny that it seemed to get worse once I flashed the 4.0.4 radios and roms but it continued rather quickly on the replacement device without rooting it. I'm torn on which way to go.

I would not go for anything Motorola. The reminds me why I am not on Verizon anymore after going through 20+ certified like new devices in just over a year. They change out the model of your phone but you will still get a phone that wont work. If you would rather have the Razr over the Nexus I would say go for it but expect to have problems with that one if its "certified like new".

Defective E4GT's ?

I recently had the random menu pop up and bottom key freeze on my E4GT. It was real bad, my phone was barely usable. Sprint replaced my phone with a refurbished warranty phone, and same exact problem with that phone. Well I went thru 3 phones all with the same problem. I was told it was a glitch with a part in the bottom of the touch screen that apparently goes bad. They replaced the so called defective piece (the whole touch screen). That was done to my 3rd phone. And still same problem. It would always happen about 24 hours after I picked up my phone and it would act up worse when I was in a bad signal area. I became very aggravated. I can understand 1 phone but 3 ? Well the 4th phone I got doesn't act up but I'm still experiencing the bottom keys randomly freezing upon waking the screen. Happens about 4 - 5 times a day. I was on stock FI27 w/ no root. And also I found it odd that when I got the ota for FL24 my phone aborted it and stuck in stock recovery. So I rebooted and went to system updates and it said my software was up to date even tho I was still on FI27. I waited 2 weeks and never got the ota again so I decided to manually update to FL24. Few days after that when QBKing posted FL24 w/ root I decided to root my phone. The bottom keys still freeze randomly only upon wake. I'm afraid to ask for another replacement in fear of getting another bad one with the menu pop up. Id rather deal with the bottom key freeze then the other problem. But it is aggravating with the bottom keys freezing. I shouldn't have to deal with any issues. Anyone familiar with this or experiencing anything like this ? Or does anyone know anything about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its called phantom key presses. Are you in a low signal area? It happens because antennae is behind touch buttons. When your in low signal area it causes interference. Theres a thread in detail about this. My previous e4gts did this. I just received a brand new not refurb phone from insurance was built 12-2-12. I have not seen this at all. Tell them you want a new one!!

The manager at my local sprint store (independently owned & operated) told my brother that the S2's are still garbage and he should buy an S3 instead. Take it for what it's worth. My phone randomly freezes with the screen off and kills the battery, even while I was on stock. My sister's phone has never had a single issue. She also somehow gets 18 hours out of a single battery charge with heavy wifi use. I'm lucky to get 10 with minimal use. I swapped the batteries, and no difference.
It seems these phones have relatively poor QC, but the good ones are great. Why do you think the refurbs were sent back originally? They "test" them and then send them right back out the door.
Yeah I think ur right. And I can't upgrade for a year.

Just as a reference I have two SGs2Epic's since Oct 2011, never had any issues whatsoever,in fact we have not set foot in a Sprint store since Aug 2011. My wife has drop her phone dozens of times, once in the toilet, took it apart, let it dry out overnight in front of ac, reassembled the next morning and its still going strong. The only thing we did to these phones was replace the batteries this past DEC. Both phones are rooted ,mine is on st/ro jelly bean, hers on GB Calk's fabulous E4GT v3.0.
Your condition sounds kind of weird? MikeTuky may be right about the low signal theory, sounds plausible.
Correction/ Did go to a Sprint store around DEC 2011,looking for a doc for our phones. / got it at Amazon.

I have tried asking for a new one, they will not do it. I've even asked for a different phone and all they offered was the Motorola photon lol they said that's the equivalent to this phone. I have called sprint many times and spoke with many different supervisors. Now that you told me they replaced yours with a new one, I'm gonna keep calling and demand a new one. Should I call sprint or the insurance company?

i doubt they will give out new ones now, since the s3 has been out for a while and s4 rumors are running rampant and that usually means a release in the near future. what i don't get is how Samsung/sprint can let so many defective units remain in circulation. you would think a recall would have happened at some point. i cant get my gps to work if my life depended on it and i tried every trick in the book and 2 replacements to fix it. Though i guess it doesnt matter to me at this point since im jumping ship to t-mobile as soon as the s4 drops
although, im curious to know if the other gs2 variants have the same issues just to know who i should blame.
