Do we know what the cause is yet? I only have one (top left corner) but now its there I can't take my eyes off it. Do we think its a glue issue as seen in the iPhone and will it disappear after time? Or is it something more sinister like too much pressure on the screen in that area.

I had one in the top-left corner as well. It hadn't disappeared after two weeks, so I returned it... Unfortunately, my DOA-period was already over, so I'm still waiting for a new one
If I were you, I'd exchange it while you've still got DOA-days left!
Im starting to think its too much pressure on the screen at that place. Because if i push on the screen near the yellow spot its getting bigger and more noticeable. So I dont think its glue in most cases.
After almost 2 weeks they havent disappeared or became less noticeable
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
The yellow spots on my One X were on the bottom right, bottom left and a few more along the left hand side. I'd say it was glue as all of the spots were entirely yellow ie; no normal part in the middle of the spot. After twelve days they hadn't lessened by any amount so the phone had to go back which is a bloody shame as I loved it apart from that one bloody issue. I'm just amazed that nobody spotted these spots during quality control.
Why so many threads about the same thing..

Not sure I know what you mean
There seems to be a little gap between actual trackpad button and the edge of the hole it sits in. If I am thinking the same way you are, look at the pictures -

Thank goodness I am not the only one
Also...now that I am thinking about it, couldn't people living in the U.S. now get some sort of warranty help through HTC U.S.A.? Since U.S. Cellular is going to be carrying the Desire, it would only make sense that the United States division of HTC could possibly offer some sort of warranty help
(I remember reading through the white warranty booklet that came with my Desire, and it said that HTC offers a 2 year warranty)
No gap on my Desire.... :/
Obviously this is down to manufacturing tolerances, if you make sure you always push it slightly to the left when ever you "click" It'll probably be central after a couple of weeks
Mine is in the middle too. Tolerances....
my one got a gap too.
but I hardly ever use the optical trackpad other than taking picture so don't bother me much.
I think its bcoz of the chin design the button is a bit misaligned.
Got no gap here, i'd think its manufacturing tolerance to.
Mines got a slight gap on the left as well, seen two other Desires which have the same, no biggie really, it still works fine and is only ever really noticeable when in a dark place and the backlight is on.
my optical has now malfunctioned see my other post
Just saw some photo taken in HTC shop of demo phone that indicate One X has some yellow spot (tint) display issue.
I would like those who have gotten the phone already to have a check and give us input does it happen to you or not.
The recent yellow spot issue is serious problem for latest Sony Xperia S phone.
Hope it can help to understand is it common or just rare.
Thanks!

Yes, some people give up Sony Xperia S(LT26i)because of the yellow spot issue. I really do not want it happen to One X. The issue for Sony is detected by user after 1 or 2 weeks usage, in some case is when phone get warm(like charging) or play heavy game after a while.
So if One X user can test it under charging status with full white screen may can more effective to confirm.
Rumors said One X screen provider is Sony. If it is true even the technique of it is different than LT26i screen but still may have some common issue behind.

The screenshot just shows what you are supposed to see.
The problem is in what you actually see on the screen itself.
To avoid any confusion, please take a physical photo of the screen in a dim room, not a screen shot.
There. Solved. Please do not fight.
I don't have any of these spots. The screen is just absolutely amazing!
The yellow tints are caused by the LCD screen foil. If you drop the phone, you will get yellow spots!

That explains, and maybe it can even be caused by pressing too hard on the screen maybe ?
Darn... Just got the One X from digitec (Switzerland) and it clearly shows two yellowish spots in the two bottom corners of the display. It's very visible and distracting on white background, not so much on dark background.
Isnt this the glue that holds the laminated screen onto the glass? I used to have this on my iphone4s ips display and the apple dude that served me said it would go off after using it for a slightly longer period of time and after a week or so the tint disappeared

Now that you mentioned it, i do believe this is the cause indeed.. i almost forgot about the iphone4s screen issues haha till you mentioned it , but that could be because i don't read much about Apple/iphones etc. and i don't have any affinity to Apple and it's products. [off-topic] To be honest i really hate Apple's mentality / their way of business
When the yellow spots are on the side, it's most of the time glue.
But if it's in the middle of the screen, most of the times it's the foil.
I would get a replacer if i were you!

It kind of looks as if they got weaker over the last two days of usage. Could be my wishful thinking, though. With white background, the spots (still) are noticeable and distracting. It's like with dead pixels: once you've discovered them, you can't ignore them anymore...
So, some One X owners got thoose yellow spots, at some devices they disapear after some time, for you, too? If yes please tell us how long it takes for you.
I started with 2 spots and now, 5 days and around 10hr screen time later, one has disappeared. The other one is still visible so I'm thinking of returning the phone for a new One X
Just noticed that min yellow spot on the bottom (in place of the whole dock bar) starts to disapear. Seems really to be the glue (like Organofunctional Silane Z-6011) on iPhones. I will watch and reprot if it totaly goes away
I had one in the top left corner. After 10hours or so it's completely gone

I had a couple of yellow spots on my phone from day one (had it a few days now), most are not noticeable anymore (bottom right of the screen for example). However the one on the bottom left doesnt seam to be fading at all to me.

Is this normal and should it still fade or do you guys think I should be asking three for a replacement (want to do it in the 14 days returns policy if I have to do it to make things simple).
(I've emailed three the pictures asking them about getting it replaced).

Get it replaced mate, I've got two yellow, more like swipe marks than spots, on the bottom right of my screen as I look at it and they are really obvious. I've rang o2 and I'm getting a doorstep exchange on Tuesday, which will be a week to the day I got the phone, and there is no sign of them fading. I ordered online hence the exchange. It's pot luck for me whether I get one without the yellow spots but I'll keep exchanging until I do coz I love the phone otherwise.

yup its the same for me I will just pester them and keep asking for exchanges until I get a good one. I was hoping it would fade and its been really annoying because I want to unlock the bootloader etc but didnt until they faded just incase. As I bought online it should be ok to swap hopefully, im wondering if they will let me take it to a store as then I can stay in the shop until they find a good one.

I have a yellow spot on the bottom left. After 1 day's use it's already significantly less obvious.
I wouldn't bother exchanging handsets until at least a week or so, as the chances are the spots go away on their own.
I hope they do just fade away!
I've had this one since thursday day, and used it a lot since I got it the others on the screen faded but this hasnt changed at all.
Mine are almost completely gone after only a few hours. I had a really bad one in the bottom left, and then another in the bottom right and top right.
I may have sped up the process by having the backlight on 100% for a while when I was doing screen tests.
I can just about see when the brightest one was now, but I have to be looking for it, on a uniform white screen. Otherwise they have gone.

The screen flickering is persistent now, and the top half of the screen is darker than the lower half. So, it's going back.
Replacement swap on Tuesday.
I had a thought today about why the screen may have darkened. I'd read about heat being an issue with yellowing the display, and wondered if the GPU had caused it to go darker?
One of the first things I did after the first charge was play Reckless Racing 2 for a while - and it got quite hot by the camera and on the screen itself. Could the heat from the Tegra have discoloured the screen glue at the top end of the screen?
This was while I still had the yellow spots - which disappeared after a few hours of screen-on time.
I think I'll "burn-in" the screen using Display Tester on my next one before doing anything that gets the CPU hot.
What do you think? Uneven heat on the display causing it to discolour on the top half? Anyone else had this? You can notice it on the Google homepage or any white screen (like on Display Tester).
can you take a photo of it? the so called uneven?..

Hi everyone, had my one X for a week now and while I love it, I have just noticed I've got a yellow dot on the lower left corner of the screen. Anyone else had issues like this, thinking of taking it back. Shame coz its an awesome phone. What's this screen test app everyone's talking about? Thanks
Hi all.
I returned my black HOX last week because of the screen ripple thing (when you run your finger down the sides of the screen) also the screen seemed to be a tad loose just like so many people have reported on here. So phones4U sent me a white one, I have received it and its worse than the black one now I don't even have to apply any pressure to get the screen ripple. What should I do? should I just put up with the fault or should I change to another phone s3 etc.
Cheers eze

Return it and tell them its a known issue (they should know)
ask for a tested device or enforce a newer batch
SH248 on awards are good
latest SH25 and HT25 seems good
loose screen is a known defect, slight screen ripple on outer edges pressure is normal unless its acting badly

This one is serial SH24, I have literally just had the screen flicker now to, so this phones is defo a faulty one. So the slight screen ripple is normal, I would say my old black one was normal because you had to apply a bit of pressure for the ripple to appear but this white one aint normal. Anyway I have just got of the phone with phones4u and I have managed to arrange to do an exchange in store.

SH23SW, no ripple.
normal is under bit if pressure
I've had two SH25's.
First one had no screen ripple at all but the screen was loose in left bottom corner. I could feel it moving, clicking etc. The backlight was also bleeding from that corner. I returned it and the second one has screen ripple everywhere with light pressure, has a dead pixel and the screen is loose on both sides.
I'm waiting for this one to be replaced. Beginning to wish I wasn't so fussy with the 1st one.
Every HOX will do it under pressure but it shouldn't do it if pressed lightly mines does it but I don't really care as I ain't going to rub sides with a dark screen??

you second hox was defected due to the extra ripple and the first hox was defected due to screen loose
you should expect a defectless hox where the screen is rock rigid and fit on all sides and only slight ripple under pressure to the outside edges
I know, going to hold out for a perfect one now.
On this one you can see a small red light in the top left behind the screen when you are on a call, is this normal? I didn't notice it on the last one.

I dont think he means that, I had that on my original one its the notification led bleeding through the side of the screen and the case, caused by the screen not being glued correctly.
