To those on the new MIUI rom....

Do you also not have the option to wake with the trackball anymore?

Don't know why, but no its not in the new version. Same question was asked in their forums and still didn't get a real answer. I think they're going to put it back in eventually.

I bet if they put their source code out we would have trackball wake.

If they put out source their whole sms system would be forked across all roms in a matter of hours.
MIUI's toast notification of sms with reply is the only reason i really enjoy MIUI.

That's the wonder of open source though. If google didn't make Android open source we wouldn't have MIUI, therefore imo MIUI source should also be open source.

They're shopping MIUI to the big name phone manufactures, seems the most likely to buy it is Motorola, so it doesn't make much sense for them to out their source code.

I really enjoy MIUI just too buggy for me.. I've been running it since I had my og Droid and it sure has come a long way, still needs some work for sure.

I think the last few updates have been not steps, but leaps backwards. Each release has another new bug that just drives me up the wall, and its never fixed.
1. notification bar in lock screen constantly has date
2. carrier logo is permanently in notification bar when unlocked/no notifications
3. can't send sms to recipients with "-" in number/camera FC with flash
those are the last 3 most recent releases.

for number #3 ill test it and tell you if its true for you or for everyone.

multiple people confirmed it on miui.us, and i confirmed it on my buddys phone with the same 1.5.6.1
With #2, the carrier name is ALWAYS in the notification bar (unless there are active notifications) I used changecarriername to change it to something else, but either way it annoys me.

for #3 ye i also get it when i try to enter them to sms it doesn't show their name.. i have to go into contacts and click their contact info and press send sms.

#3 camera FC with flash...
You have to wait for it to focus then snap the pic! if you dont wait youll get the FC.

Must be a dark theme only thing, except that I thought this problem arose on 1.4.30 which is what I'm running right now.

What do YOU want in a ROM?

This community has already greatly contributed to Whitehawkx and I. In return we'd like to offer you the same.
We have LOTS of ideas for the ROM we are working on and are implementing all of them as time permits. In the 24-48 hours him and I have had this phone we've already made a huge amount of progress.
So, be realistic, be creative, and tell us what you'd like to see in a custom ROM.

Notification menu like on WeaponG2X. That was one of my favorite implementation of that rom.

I do agree with the guys above me with having CM7 or MIUI, but I would also like the running apps carousel like the one from ics. I think that's what it's called. I have to double check on that. I know when you long press the home button, you get to see most recent apps, but I sure do like the look of the app carousel from ics. That'd be nice to have but I'm still looking forward to yours and WhiteHawkx's roms either way.

EDT tweaks (hawks) I'm sure it's already in there. dsexton's as. Speed and battery tweaks. And whatever else you guys can cook up I'm sure you accomplish what most want without any ideas!!!

I guess I should have clarified. This will be based off Samsung software/firmware.
We won't be "porting" a ROM or working on CM7 for this phone. We will be extending the functionality/feature base of the Sammy ROM. It only makes sense to do it like this. You get the best combination of speed, stability, and features.

Overclock/Undervolt kernel with ext 4 support with overclocked gpu
Fancy Transition animations.
Dark Theme For battery life
Can we get download to say Make me a hot pocket i like that option.

Original SGS Sms - Should work now I think. Maybe we'll have that as an addon if everything works properly.
Gesture controls you can disable from Settings menu, no?
Swap support like RAM swap? Why? There a ridiculous amount of RAM on this phone.

After all the great experiences with your guys work on the Vibrant Im excited to see what you bring here.
I would like the see the usual stuff. Multiple lockscreens, improved battery life, smoothed out UI, NO BATTERY PERCENTAGE IN THE BATTERY please or at least an option to turn it off. Voodoo color( I know that isnt on your end but I still want it.) A theme engine like in cm7 would be cool to.

^^THIS^^... And an advanced power menu, maybe extended quick settings in the pulldown, CRT on/off, And definitely some OC/UV and OC'd GPU would be awesome....

Dark themed.
Get rid of the home button delay if possible.
Performance and battery tweaks.
Nuke the bloat.
Nuke the startup/shutdown sounds.
Crt animations.
Power menu.
Camera power button as shutter button hack.

For anybody that uses WidgetLocker...

Are you able to power off your phone from the lockscreen? On my nexus it seems that all the buttons have been disabled.
I am on stock 4.0.1 ICS btw and I have noticed the same thing with my galaxy tab 10.1.

Not me. The option comes up, but wont accept a touch.

Is WidgetLocker updated to android 4.0 yet? I'd definitely would be using it...hmmm

ICS source code became available, when? Nov 14? Last WidgetLocker update was only Nov 18 and description makes no reference to ICS. I'd say no, it is not fully updated for compatibility with ICS yet.
I have the same results as described above by OP. That's really the only problem I have though. Otherwise it is working fine on ICS.

Widgetlocker works just fine for me, and I am in fact able to make use of the buttons from the power menu.

Yeah I can't click the pop up buttons either, can't remember ever needing to though so it doesn't bother me.

Yea it doesnt bother me much either, it was just a little inconvenience i noticed while using it. Its only an extra second to unlock the phone and then press the power button.
Just wanted to know if I was the only one.

Sorry to get OT, but I CANNOT get handcent to pop up messages over Widgetlocker now. It worked on Gingerbread. Any suggestions would be awesome as the dev of Widgetlocker just ignored my email.
If I could set a custom lock screen wall paper and add widgets to the stock unlock screen I would have no use for widgetlocker, but as for now...I love it. Just this one issue.
In an attempt to contribute, No, I cannot. I push "Power off" but it will not work unless I unlock and then do it. I am on stock 4.0.2.

the only thing bothering me from the current version of widgetlocker is the lock screen comes up when I am on a phone call...
i have to unlock the screen in order to end a call

Yes, and it will pop up if the phone is on and at the home screen or in an app, but it will not "Wake" widget locked or show the message over the top of it when I go to unlock it. :/

[Q] Can you turn Backlight/LED light off?

Is there a way to turn off back light and LED notification lights? I've tried an app called Led Flow -LED Control but it didn't work on the One V. Is there any way to turn off the back light buttons as well as the top LED light? To save battery? thanks!

You can use my file keyoff.zip to turn off the backlight completely. The LED notification, no mod as there is no request from my ROM user; not sure it can be done or not.

[Q] BLN driving me nuts!! Pls help

Hi all,
I've put good several hours today trying to get BLN(back light notification) function working on my T989 to no avail. I understand the kernel in CM 10.1.2 doesn't support BLN, so today I flashed a new one that does. After that I installed BLN control. It does report that BLN status is enabled, but neither the test nor the real world uses lit up those 4 damned touch key LEDs.
In addition, I've also tried ButtonLED(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939). It didn't work either because the "brightness" file needed couldn't be found or maybe just doesnt exist. the 5 files its auto search located didn't work of course.
I'd appreciate if some of you more skilled/experienced magnificent people could help me out. There are so many T989 users out there, I'm sure there're people who got bothered by the lack of notifications and figured out a work around. It doesnt have to be with these two apps, but I don't want to use apps that use the main LCD for notifications for battery life's reason.

Can you pls elaborate how you get it working with trickster mod? there's a "LED Control" button but requires paid version. Is this it? there's also "Backlight Notification" toggle which I have set to on but is not doing anything.

The backlight notification toggle is the one I used. I am on Slim Bean 4.3 using Uber 2GHz with BLN though.
Not sure why it works for me and not you.

I wiped cache partition and dalvik cache, still no change....
I read somewhere on internet the ROM must also support BLN function. Could this be the cause?

Download trickster mod..swipe over to the last tab and you'll see an option for backlight notification...enable it and that's it

I've done all that, unfortunately it just didn't work. Are you on CM 10.1 with a kernel that supports bln? Or is there anyone with this setup who have gotten it to work?
