You don't need htc sync. All you need is your phone, a pc, a usb cable and the RUU.
Fastboot. USB. RUU. 3 steps you need.
If that doesn't work download fastboot drivers.

and what is that date: Mar 5 2010,21:12:15
what that date mean?
Ohh if you're returning for warranty then this changes things slightly.
If the phone was branded i.e. you got it on contract with a network, you need to use the RUU for that network. (except for orange)
If the phone was unbranded i.e. bought from a store such as amazon.com then you're okay.
If you're unsure, you can use the official 2.3 RUU, which will definitely cover your warranty.
If you're not returning for warranty purposes - don't worry about it.

Hi guys, I got a HTC DESIRE for my Wife but I tried to root it and somehow its failed:
Its a T-mobile UK locked device
Now I cant see anything on my device its working as I can hear the startup sound and when I try to run the official tmobile uk update it detects it but failed looking for bootloader mode.

If anyone can help me I would appreciate it
Firstly, I'd recommend using unrevoked to root the phone. The way you are using is old and complicated.
Secondly, i imagine that your hboot is not 0.8 which means you'll need to downgrade.
It might be http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750852 that you need to read and follow, although I'm not sure.
It would help if you knew what hboot you were.

The RUU itself can't put into bootloader?
If you want to try unrevoked, this is the post you need:
Q. My screen goes blank when I use custom recovery with unrevoked3.
A. You have an SLCD display and will need to use an updated recovery image until unrevoked3 itself is updated. It is safe to use this updated image on AMOLED screens too. You can download the image here: http://crop.floodbit.org/~defer/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd.img
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749551 - has everything about slcd rtc
The main problem is my screen is black and I cant see anything although windows is still detecting device
Instead of the RUU, try giving unrevoked a whirl with that custom recovery image (make sure phone is unplugged whilst started unrevoked). Also, follow the instructions from unrevoked about installing the htc drivers (unless you have already installed the latest htc drivers).
Battery pull, then turn on whilst holding volume down. Hopefully this will give you bootloader and unrevoked should be able to do its magic (if you select that custom recovery image)
This will give you root.

1. Choose desire then download.
2. Follow instructions in hboot driver.html (to make sure your phone is recognised correctly)
3. Run reflash.exe

5. Download and select http://crop.floodbit.org/~defer/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd.img

I done everything but still dont understand what to do with this recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd.img
the drivers were installed correctly and my computer can see my device,
But still no luck I think I'm missing something I cant see anything on my screen, I know the device alive as I can hear the atrt up sound and compuer now detect in device manager
This is what hapens when I try to attempt flashing with official ruu
Ok unplug the desire from the pc then battery pull and then hold volume-down (on left hand side of the phone) and then press power (whilst holding volume-down). Then plug in and run the RUU again.
With that recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd.img, you select it in unrevoked by pressing ctrl + r (on windows) and then just connect your desire.

Hi. i tried to unroot my phone and install orange stuff back on by following a guide on this forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796975
When i followed the guide i kept on getting md5 error, so then i dont know what i did, i somehow installed something and now the phones stuck on htc screen, phone wont load. However i still can enter hboot menu. i have taken some pics so you can see. i will add them to Flickr.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaisar89/sets
the phones orange uk branded which i purchased from phones4u. Details on the box are as follows:
HTC Desire PM Handset
OHTN1132
IMEI:
S/N:
P/N
EAN
Barcode: 5 027141 592329
That is the all the information on the box.
can someone please give me a solution on how to fix this problem. Much appreciated. TY
Of I've followed that guide. That nandroid backup is the Orange version but it's still rooted. And in the guide it says to open up a file and remove one of the lines. That will fix the md5 error. Anyway to unroot properly just use an ruu.

if possbile could you post link
in fastboot mode theres 4 options.

Which one do i need to select?
You just leave it in fast boot then plug it in to the computer you should see the red fastboot writing turn to fastboot USB plug then just run the ruu and that's it

No there isn't a stock Orange RUU - it's the one drawback of rooting an Orange-branded phone as there's no way of getting back to stock. You'll have to flash a stock unbranded RUU using a gold card
Hi, Im trying to fix my Desire after getting water damaged, I have spent some time disassembling and drying out, so know that all is dry, when I turn it on My O2 screen flashes on then dies out and restarts, staying in this loop. I can get into the hboot menu. so Im looking for help restoring my stock hboot?? I think?
The phone hasnt had any custom images loaded to my knowledge, so i dont think it will be rooted or ready to load custom images.
Anyway my phone details are:
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
will it be as easy as finding the hboot and copying to my sd?
much appreciated.
EDIT: NOW SOLVED - Thread Summary:
Alot of useless information in this thread regarding my ACTUAL problem but still some good info on creating Goldcards. After completely drying phone out after getting wet, I reassembled and tried it out, and it just flicked the O2 screen up and restarted, after trying everything below I then found out I needed a new battery, thats all! lol, so this is incase someone else has a phone that acts like mine did after water damage, I have a link to a youtube vid of what my phone was doing.
Thanks to all who helped me get problem resolved, my phone is back!
Can you get to the fastboot?
If so try running "fastboot devices" is your phone recognized?
Edit:
Ah you're S-ON, then go to fastboot, try downloading appropriate RUU for your device and run it.
See what happens. (you might need gold card if you are branded)
I guess you cant get to the recovery?
You could have not changed your hboot if you are s-on. So there is not hboot which needs to be restored. If you are would be really damaged, you would not be able to power on your desire at all. The hboot is the absolute basis of an android phone (like bios for computer). If this gets damaged, your phone is totally bricked and not more than an expensive paperweight.
When you are able to access fastboot (start phone with pressed back and power button or boot into hboot>choose fastboot with volume buttons>enter with power button), you could flash a ruu. To find out which is the right one, you need to tell us wether your phone was branded or not and when it was branded, which provider you have.
Hi thanks for replies, I understand I dont need to replace my hboot as i can get into thue menu and i can get into fastboot menu aswell. Its branded O2 so where can I find an RUU thats suitable?
If you cant get into fastboot menu, you are pretty much screwed because RUU wont detect your phone.

ok i have downloaded that ruu, but its not detecting my phone. when i first turn phone on with vol- held i get hboot menu. one of the options is fastboot (already selected) i select that by pressing power button, then my menu changes to fast boot. then my options are: bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, power down. i left it at this menu while i ran the RUU, is this correct? also do I need to install any other software on pc? I have installed the HBOOT USB driver earlier while I was looking about, does this need removing? also my hboot menu when first run looks through files on my sd card, should i copy the ruu file to sd?

Yes, not touching the menu is correct.
No, you do not need to install any other software on your pc.
No, you do not need to remove the hboot usb driver.
No, don't copy the ruu to sd. I recommend to save important data on sd card (just in case). Just run the ruu on your computer.

Installed hboot drivers correctly:
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install
Furthermore, check if you have only htc sync drivers installed.
The goldcard can only avoid the cid error, and has nothing to do with the usb connection.
When u use Unrevoked remove HTC connectivity from ur computer...
And u can use FastbootCommanderV.1.5 to patch HBOOT...
ok getting somewhere USb drivers must be screwed on my lappy, i installed on another machine and using fastboot commander I could connect in fastboot mode and got my phone details up, I then tried the RUU that you gave me a link to earlier and it successfully connected and attempted the update, although after about 2 mins it says that its the wrong version ruu. current version is: 2.14.207.3, one contained in RUU is 2.14.207.1 So what should I do now?

No it will not. A goldcard can only help you, if you want to flash a stock ruu although you have a branded phone. When you do not have a goldcard in this situation, you get a cid error.

Yes and no. For the case, he wants the stock ruu, you are right. But he wants to use his warranty, so needs the ruu of this provider. But the ruu he wants flash is older than the one he is running now. So he cannot flash the the ruu. And this problem cannot be avoided by using a goldcard, because the hboot version has nothing to do with the cid number.
On this way I at least understand the matter. Correct me, if I am wrong.
I downloaded the new 2.3 RUU as I wanted stock unrooted GB on desire.
I had/have oxygen R2 hboot on vodafone UK and I didnt make a goldcard (didnt think I needed one stupidly with an official RUU)

That's a vodafone RUU, it works for my phone, it will work for yours, so AFAIK you don't need a goldcard to use that one.
Turn off your phone (battery pull), hold back + power which will boot you into fastboot mode, then run the RUU from your pc (plug your phone via usb obviously)

you'd only need a goldcard if you are unbranding a phone i.e. having a vodafone one and running a WWE RUU.. if you have the right RUU you don't need one.. since the CID et. etc. matches the RUU.

Only a black screen with HTC logo in middle and exclamation marks in 4 corners. Where it usually says "HBOOT" etc it just Says RUU

yeah thats what happens, but you should still be able to get fastboot* (*I think), and then flash it..
okay when this happened to my phone, I ran the HTC Europe RUU, which finished installing and restored my hboot (no idea why), then I was able to flash recovery and simply flash a new ROM from there. You can try it. No promises though.

Hi
I have an HTC Desire running oxygen. I tried downloading the RUU for the stock rom and running it. It partially completed buy then it could no longer be recognised. Is there anyway I can get this back to a stock rom. My SD card broke and I dont have the original backup.
Please help if you can.
Kind Regards
Adam
Bootloader info please as usually.
What RUU did you try flash?
What was the eroor message?
Is the phone branded? etc, etc etc...
I just about managed to instal oxygen and am quite new to all this so apologies if I sound like a noob.
I dont know how to check the bootloader.
I tried RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704
It says "Updating Signature" and then comes up with "ERROR [131]:CUSTOM ER ID ERROR".
The phone is unbranded and came unlocked.
Thanks so much for the reply
Bootloader is 0.93.0001
use a recent ruu and not a jurassic one
try with wwe 2.29.405.5
even if CID error mean probably ur phone is branded..but worth a try with the above ruu
ensure the phone is full charged, and when running the ruu dont pull battery or unplug the cable
if ur phone is working with oxygen now, then there is no need to run the ruu
Hi

well its not the ruu that doesn't recognize ur phone..
its ur pc that doesn't recognize it..is it? u can still access the sdcard content from ur computer?
if ur pc does not recognize it (even with the right drivers up and running), then u have an USB brick..search for a guide (if that the case)

thats strange..reboot the phone..reboot the pc..already tried? ensure is not a corrupted ruu download..
I have downloaded the most recent RUU again and it made no difference. I have rebooted each device many times. I know. I worry that I have screwed the phone. I dont understand why the first one fails at the signature stage. If i could at least make that work I could do the OTA updates
Do you have the drivers installed (worth a shot).
Also boot into fastboot mode -
1. Power off device
2. Boot into bootloader (holding Power + Vol Down)
3. Choose fastboot
If your USB is ok, then the fastboot line should change to fastboot usb.
Then run the RUU.

Tried your steps and the phone did change to fastboot USB. It started running fine and then failed on the updating signature part. I also do have the drivers installed.
Also I dont know if clockword is affecting it either. Absolutely nothing when I tried and dind similar situations to me.
What was the exact error(With Number)? CID? As andQlimax says?
Wait, you have clockworkmod working and running?
The exact error i have is "ERROR [131]:CUSTOMER ID ERROR".
Also I can go into recovery and it takes me to clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.7
Well CID error definitely states you have a branded phone and you need a different RUU.
However, if you have a working clockworkmod recovery why don't you flash a custom ROM?

if ur clockworkmod works, and ur oxygen rom works too..why u need an ruu?
I have got oxygen working well again. Thing is I am selling it as have just got a SGS2. I thought it would be better to sell it with the stock rom. Now it working again on oxygen how should I go about getting it back to stock. As though I was trying for the first time. Thanks for all your helps guys.
PS I have used this phone on O2, Orange and Vodafone. Also there is no branding on the device. The packaging is also unbranded. Its an SLCD version. Dont know if that makes a difference
