[Q] Smoothest sense ROM? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
What is the smoothest sense ROM? I have yet to find one that is as smooth as stock, everything that comes close is usually plagued with random stalls or lag and FC's and I'm giving the phone to my Dad soon who is not very technical and would not be suited to a custom ROM with these types of problems.
Just now I have a rooted version of HTC's gingerbread sense ROM but the lack of available memory is horrendous, the phone has stopped synching and I can't even run half my apps..
Please help, thank you.

If you really want smoothness, use AOSP roms.

Any of Alex's sense 1.9/2 ROMs

Look at my signature for the fastest sense rom.

Undoubtedly RSK is the smoothest sense Rom for desire....
Especially v7.1...
You vll have to sacrifice gaming though... But the Rom is worth it...

Anytime RSK Springtime v 7.4 .. awsum ...

I have been for a long time on Runnymede All-In-One by sebastiaan15 and after testing a lot of them and different Kernels, for smoothness i would recommend v5.1.2 and SNQ kernel for HTC Sense 3.5.
Oh yes, i use CM7r2 hboot, amarullz AD2SDX script with a A-DATA Class6 16GB SD card and 1.5GB EXT4 partition, 110 Apps, about 500MB free

The answer is in your post...
If you're giving the phone to your dad, who is not very techo, why not just revert to stock?? That way, the phone is reliable, smooth, has Sense and he can just use it as a phone.
Seems pretty simple to me.

[Q] Which Desire HD ROM is the best for Desire

hi all,
greetings from an android noob. i'll be getting a desire in a few days, so i started looking for tips, tricks, hacks and stuff online and came across xda. i got really interested in putting desire hd rom in desire. but you can imagine how my head is threatening to explode seeing all this ports and different versions.
what i would like is Desire HD ROM, possibly unmodified (except if modification is needed for stability, usability...), with this new Sense UI, working camera, the least bugs and glitches...
i've tried looking for opinions and comments but got lost in all these threads. i've found one with fresh info on rom development and updates, but haven't found one with comments on which port is the best (in your opinion). the best meaning speed, stability, features...
if there is such thread then please PM me the link and remove the thread. if not, i guess it would be useful to have all comments in one place. thx to all in advance.
cheers!!
insertcoin 2.0
I've made my best experience with RCMixHD. For me it's the best HD-ROM.
I have been using InsertCoin for a while now, was on 1.8h and now I have finally updated to the latest version. Its a great ROM, quite happy with it.
InsertCoin has the advantage of fitting on nand. You won't have to change your partition layout for it, so you even don't need s-off.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
that means less trouble when flashing rom, right? regarding performance, hd rom is quicker than stock one?
Can't remember stock Rom speed , but insertcoin is really fast and smooth.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
In my experience, if you want
Sense - LeeDroid,
Sense HD - Insertcoin
Non sense 2.3 - Ginger villian
are the best.
Only had my Desire for a day but I'm loving the InsertCoin Sense HD rom. Seems very stable and performance is excellent.
I really enjoyed rcs hd rom try a few and decide
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I would recommend InsertCoin 2.0.1
Found Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861690
This is the best ROM I have used on the Desire, I have tried about 10 different ones before settling on InsertCoin 2.0.1
Good luck with choosing the right ROM for you.
Regards,
Aleks
insertcoin 2.0 with d2ext is realy smooth. the best DHD rom i have used
ownheredesirehd works best for me, no mods except for transparent app draw, rotation, etc.
Gets about 2700 on quadrant, (OC to 1190mhz)
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
looks like that insertcoin is a winer. fingers crossed I don't brick the phone...
thx for all your input.
does InsertCoin 2.0.1 support Arabic
in does not, how can I make it support arabic
please help
SuperRom V 1.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11860001
I would agree with iNsertCoin 2.0.1 or if you want the rotating homescreen from the Desire Z then i'd suggest Cool Z as it's really stable, fast and still has all the features of the DHD counterparts (Skins, HTC sense.com, the ability to restore apps from your Google account etc) but try different ROMs to see what you are comfortable with (some roms are slightly laggy at times) and as long as you make absolutely SURE you've read all you need to know, you'll be just fine It took me 1-2 months before i was absolutely certain i knew how to get the ROM i wanted
+1 for InsertCoin
Added: I have stopped flashing other ROMs ever since I found InsertCoin (2.0.1), which was still called BaadNewz (1.4) at that time. It is the fastest, smoothest and the most stable HD Sense ROM available.
Sent from HTC desire with InsertCoin 2.0.1 Data2EXT
Many Thaks
So I am interested in trying the Nsertcoin rom, or another rom for my desire that has sense, but none if the threads I look through specify whether they are for the cdma or gsm desire
Is there something there that I'm missing? How do I tell?

lol, theres loads
personally, i'd say the one i'm running with launcher7- see sig.
well imagine EVERYBODY could cut & paste this reply. what is your favorite colour? i like red but it's not blue enough for some. better just try a few & see what takes yr fancy
The most stable imo is GingerVillian, it's a stock Gingerbread ROM with latest Google Market.
Runnymede AIO all the way for me, it is a brilliant rom.
Lol, I don't know who's moar funny here, trolls or those who spoon feed morons again, and again and again out of some false courtesy and thinking they are helpful....
If you want an AOSP rom try CyanogenMod 7, it's fast and stable. If you're searching for a Sense rom I think Runnymede AIO is the best at the moment
I wanted to know what are the best roms too but then i realized that i would have to try it out.
It really depends on you, do you want Sense or stock design, usability or speed...
I can really recommend you Redux or Oxygen, both are fast and both have propably everything what you need.
But it is my taste, i don't really like sense roms for example...
imo the best is not created yet
at the moment i have CoolSense 3.0 Aces v6 Bravo (it is so fast and stable), before i had LeeDroid 2.5 (stable, but no so fast, good battery life) and good factory stock rom
It's a hard question
I've tried cyano but i want lo have sense so i put InsertCoin.
Then i tried gingerbread with Aurora and now I have runnymede.
The last two is very good rom.I prefer the first because it's more easy but if u want a complete rom, use runnymede.
Oxygen is the most stable custom rom on desire imo. Its essentially hack free with a great kernel.

I used to enjoy the stock roms, but found that sense was terrible. I, personally, would go for the latest Oxygen release for stability. I'm currently using Sandvold's ICS rom and enjoying it, but it isn't without it's bugs currently.

I have doubts about the stability of aio runnymede. I constantly had camera freeze resulted in boot loops. I found that RSK was far more stable

do u try runny rom?
what's the difference between 2.1 and 3.5?
I've tried Runnymede AIO 6.1.1, Runny 5.5 and RSK 7.1
To me AIO seems most stable
i faced Exchange email issue with both RSK n Runny
But all of them having issue with USB tethering, it'll keep poping up the usb connection type options and never connect my pc to the internet
so now i'm reverting back to Alex-V 1.8 INT2SD
RunnyMede AIO here as well. Stable and fast even with stock hboot.
Battery life isn't too bad on AIO, I get a day of moderate use out of it. I did need to recalibrate the battery (i.e. charge to 100% and reset battery stats), this was probably because I flashed the ROM when the phone was 40% charged.
I was using an ICS ROM last week (sandvolds), it ran surprisingly well but I had issues with multi-touch (drag zoom) and a couple of other smaller issues (slow GPS lock, occasional lock ups). Might take another look at ICS on desire in a few months.

[Q] Stable EverythingWorking ROM for daily use.

Hi there,
Since last December, I'm using last version of Oxygen, but during this time I have an issue with camera. Every time I'm started the camera an error "SDcard is unmounted" occurs. I had to unmount, mount again my sdcard and really fast switch to camera application, sometimes two or free times in order to take a photo.
Now I'm trying to find stable ROM for daily use, but I see that developers gone from desire device, only few ICS ROMS, and as I red there isn't enough stable ROM for daily use.
What do you recommend? It could be JB, ICS, GB, the first goal it have to be stable without any major issues and without Sense.
Is way to have a stable rom? I don't want to come back to stock.
Im using EUROSKANK CM 7 rom, no problems, all is working. For me this is best stable rom.

I highly doubt that Oxygen rom is the one giving you issues as I find it one of the most stable roms out there. Have you even considered reflashing the rom and start clean again?
Anyway since you are on the lookout for a new rom then you can try the suggestions the the commenters above.
via xda app
Thanks everyone for answers,
I'll reading about ROMs mentioned in your answers, for now Nick's Phone looks the best.
About my issue, I reinstalled Oxygen in January, with _total_ wipe: STOCK -> ROOT -> S-OFF -> Oxygen. Now I'll try to check my SDcard (it is 4Gb ADATA class 6, and is old like a phone) I will try to dd if=/dev/zero on this card, maybe this is card issue not rom.

Well I tried all the ICS and JB ROMs but trust me, they are not for daily use. Random reboots, phone freezing and many other little niggles are a pain.
Then I tried the eye candy Sense 3.5 ones. Though everything works in them stability is an issue. Freezing, bsod etc are few issues I faced.

I heard about it too. Only issue I found was that the development on it was stopped and so was apprehensive of the support.
Also the OP of the ROM says few users are facing freezing issues while an incoming call. I had this issue earlier too on the RSK teams ROM.
Anyway will give it a shot over the weekend.

I've had good experiences with Runny Rom too. I've used Runnymede AIO for a long time and also had those freezing issues you mention, but it's not only caused by the ROM itself directly. Most likely it's caused by the SD card. I've used 2 different 16GB class 6 cards (Samsung and Sandisk) and they both caused problems. I'm using a class 4 32gb sandisk now I didn't have any single freeze yet.
But, like said before, those sense 3.5 ROMs are quite heavy, probably the most heavy for your SD card. For stable and lagfree sense I wouldn't advise them. It might work, but can also cause a lot of problems.

Best stable ROM (any version of android, for general usability)

I'm giving my old HTC Desire to my friend, but before I do I want to flash the best ROM for a laymen's use, in terms of stability, battery life and speed.
Personally, I have a Galaxy Nexus with JB and I love it - I think JB heralds a new era in which android finally shows that iOS is just hype and not god.
I've seen there are ROMs right the way up to Jelly Bean, which I find pretty amazing considering the age of the Desire handset - however, there must be quite a few issues to iron out, and I doubt that my friend, who will be more worried about his phone working than whether it's up to date with android, will appreciate these issues.
So which ROM would you recommend? Quick answers appreciated cause I need to give him the phone within two hours! Lol
Thanks for your help

I really enjoy Mr. mephisto and RSK team rom, the 3.5 sense is awsome and the AMAZE cam is.. well.. AMAZING.

It's beautiful and stable, but it's too heavy (read slow) even on fast sd. If you have to sell the phone, just install stock rom (with sense), or an aosp like cm7 or oxygen.
No man, install stock Oxygen rom , create partition ext4 for a2sd. And that is it. Rom is completely bug free, and it has bedt battery life. Speed is great, and no laggs at all !

Oxygen 2.3.2 + thalamus r4 kernel. Use Oxygen r2 hboot. If You need more space, with GParted make ext3 or ex4 partition.
I've found it best combination (almost one year using it). It's not full of widgets like Sense roms, but You can install Fancy Wigdets or Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather similar to Sense.
