Remove the foreign languages? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

How can I remove the foreign languages?
So I just keep only the Dutch language.
I want the rom as small as possible to remove everything that I do not need.
I am on stock 2.3.6. root.
I delete a lot of apps that i don't need and put third system apps back and link them with link2sd.
Does anyone know what more I can remove to make it smaller?
Thanks.

I see you have a really big SD card so why bother?

Removing Apps

Hi
I want to remove some apps from my Desire but they are in the main system files, not on the SD card. I've tried App Monster but it only looks at the SD card - is there another uninstall app that would work?
Thanks
what's wrong with the normal uninstaller?
if you have installed from the market you can uninstall it from the the market too.
Hi
These are the pre-installed apps (it an Orange phone !!) so there's no uninstall
Thanks
Which apps, out of interest?
The only way to do this honestly is to root your phone and install a CFW.
But maybe the apps that are pissing you off can be solved with just a simple debrand.

[Q] Remove OrangeUK Bloatwear (after root)

The Memory on the Desire is very limited. Orange have not helped this. I want to remove UNO, Tetris, That bowling game, The Traffic camera etc. In order to claw back that precious 10Mb or so, and be rid of the low disk space icon.
I've just rooted my phone. (can see and open the superuser icon). I followed this, and it worked: http://www.thedroiddemos.com/2010/0...desire-with-unrevoked-3-21-video-walkthrough/
Was under the impression that this would allow me to uninstall the Pre-loaded Orange apps. Clearly not. SO...
Installed titanium backup. Tried to uninstall UNO, Didnt work. Tried to Force uninstall uno, didnt work and scared me to death with a strange android logo + exclamation mark.
My phone is fine, but UNO is still there clinging to that precious Mb of space.
Please can someone explain how to get rid of this bloatware? Preferably without having to flash a new ROM.
Best thing is to just debrand the phone and put a stock WWE ROM onto it. then you can re-root that and have some fun.
Just download a stock ROM from HERE (I recommend 2.29.405.2), make a gold card and run the RUU file with the gold card in the phone and HTC Sync showing connected on the PC
Sorry to burst your bubble, but uninstalling those apps wont give you ANY extra space you can use, neither will flashing a different rom.
The orange bloatware is on the system partition, you want space on the data partition.
The only way to get more space is apps2sd. I recommended flashing a custom rom that supports olschool apps2sd and partition your sdcard.
But flashing a stock ROM will at least get rid of them!
Well... thats me a bit gutted then.
Does this mean that all the ringtones/notifications are also on the System Partition?
The low disk space icon has been a real pain. My contract is only a tenner a month. Might just wait till after xmas and get the new Desire HD.
Was watching a video on Youtube about root explorer, and how that might be an option to remove preloaded guff, but I guess it was a different carrier.
Cheers for the help guys.
Yes, the internal memory is for apps you download and data for apps you use on the phone
Look in the forum for " HOW TO: Delete System Applications On Rooted Phones"
They can be deleted and it does get space back !...
I got rid of all the odd demo's etc... and the media ( rigntones etc )... fab... and yes my phone is fast once more !!...
A new rom ...if you want .. no need ...
but you have to be ROOT !!! ( unrevoked + gold card )
It does NOT get the space back, System apps are on the /system partition which downloaded apps aren't saved to
You might get some space back (if your lucky) by going into application settings and clear data for these apps. Will probably only be a small amount though.
Cheers m8, have been through and done that.
One other question... if its not possible to delete these apps to get more space and be rid of the "low disk space" notification... is there a way to stop the notification showing so early? It seems to pop up once I get to about 15mb... it doesnt really need to be there till im down to the last 5mb does it?
It's true that you won't get space back by deleting apps form /system but you can move apps (that don't update often) from /data to /system to fill the system partition again and gain some space back in /data.

[Q] Loose the unneeded stuff

I love my Desire and the new update is working well for me. Finally got rid of that stupid facebook thingy.
Now for the rest, I bougt this Desire but still can't do what I want (or better don't want) to do with it.
I would like the new rom BUT without:
Stock
FM Radio
Footprints
Friendstream
News
News and weather
Peep
Youtube
I don't want them,
I don't need them
and sure ass hell don't use them.
There are better apps for those!!! and I can put them on my SD card
I read some threads in this forum but none of them seems to do what I want. Is there anyone here that can tell me how to remove the apps OR how to bake a GB rom without all of the crap I don't want to have. Last time before update I saw on Modace a ROM kitchen that could take away a lot of the pain but that would cost me to much in my opinion.
you could either remove them with adb or android commander so go ahead and flash away whatever you like and then remove the apps you don't want, or alternatively you can always open the zip and remove the apps you don't want to be installed in the first place they're in /system/app

In addition to this post, here is a nice guide about system apps one can delete and which should not be deleted:

[Q] Side-loaded apps stored in same location as Market/Play Store apps?

Now that I know where regular direct downloaded app packages (.apk) are stored on my phone (/data/apps/) ...
Would side-loaded apk's also be stored there?
(I understand that the "accept from other sources" option must be ticked in Android settings to make such installations possible at all)
Yup, unless you move them to the sdcard or that's the default.
Good point about the SD Card

Oh, yes! Thanks for the reminder!
I do that whenever the app permits it to save precious internal memory.
Some custom ROMs have figured out a way to expand the internal memory available to applications from a paltry 149MB to nearly 750MB.
Even better, there is a manual workaround for those with rooted DINCs that lack such a ROM and want to stick close to stock:

Thanks to Junior Member "soniclude" for a very thorough explanation, including a good bit about how to root your DINC in the first place. And it really is in plain English, just as soniclude promises! :victory:
:good: Cheers!

yes read above thread for which application is safe to remove, but as per title of thread
if you are doing this to make space then note, these applications stores in System ROM and making free space on system ROM, you can not use that space to replace other user application.
many ppl removing this (bloatware) to enhance performance by preventing them to run in background, though it is also debate whether really how much this help. b''coz android itself have some function to keep process running in background to recall it fast. so if you remove bloatware, that will be replaced by other application till android feel RAM if full, and same time android will autokill background process to make more free space available.
Since your device is root, use Directory Bind to put big data from internal to SD. For instance, i use it for Wild Blood, saving up to 2Gb of internal space. The game take only a longer time to launch.
Instead of deleting apps and risking seeing my device brick, i use the Android 4.1 freeze option, i think it's safer to use it, you can't freeze needed system apps.
Deleting apps is not as useful as doing it with other phones since there is around 780Mb of free system space. To free internal memory, with Titanium you can move apps from internal to system.
If you use Instagram a lot, move Instagram pictures from /storage/sdcard0/Pictures to sd card. Setup the camera to write to SD card.
Ofcourse you can use this space? What prevents you from making regular user apps to system apps?
I would suggest freezing apps first with Titanium, then after several days, if nothing happens, you can remove them. I used to do this all the time on my DHD and do it for a few apps on my N7.
