So the installed Tango app starts up and says "No Wifi? No Problem..." User your 3g 4g etc... blah blah network.
Then when you try to make a call it says HELL NO... This version only works with WiFi. This surprised even the AT&T people as I showed them the original No Wifi message and then that it didnt work when we picked up my wifes phone in store.
Im looking at the marketplace today and search Tango. I see a "Nokia" version and the one from "TangoMe Inc."
I install the TangoMe Inc version and go to my program list. I see the original one is there and the new one is installing. I removed the old one, ran the new one and did setup. Did the same on my wifes phone and voila! Vid Chat without WiFi.
Maybe everyone else knew that but I didnt. I was dissapointed in the WiFi requirement but as we are an LTE market and I have a grandfathered unlimitted data plan I couldnt see why I shouldnt be able to do it!
The one preinstalled on the Lumia 900 is an att version of the app that only lets you call over wifi, but the one in the marketplace is the regular version that lets you use your 3g/4g to call people.
It's like an echo in here
Anyone have a Rogers Lumia 900 with a Fido Sim Card have their MMS start working?
Not sure if it was me screwing around or they changed the MMS backend on their end by my MMS/Internet Sharing is working with my Fido Sim Card.
Did you reset your phone or remove sim or anything?

No figured it out, did the Update Trick to get Tango, it must have installed the OS in an "unbranded" configuration. I had some Network issues, called Fido and had them do a "Resend to Switch" that's when MMS and Internet Sharing started working. Had someone confirm by doing the same thing with their Rogers Lumia 900.
Did you specifically ask for that by name? What problem did you report? Would love to get mine working. I find mine is slow on data connection sometimes especially compared to focus.

Are you on Fido? Different carriers have a different name for it, I believe all they are doing is reprovisioning the sim. If you are on Fido and did the Tango update trick, you'll get the added benifit of MMS/Internet Sharing working. On a side note, when I first got my Lumia 900, I had put my Fido Sim in the phone and my data was very slow, especially compared to my old Focus. I had them do a "resed to switch" and it fixed my data speeds.
Power off your phone and call them from a lan line. Tell them you're having data problems and the last time you experienced this the customer service rep did a "resend to switch" and ask if they can do it again. if the customer service rep doesn't know what you are talking about hang up and call again. If the customer service rep knows what you are talking about they will tell you to power off your phone (which it already is). After they do the "resend to switch" wait a few minutes and then power your phone on.

is it because Fido is the same network as Rogers ? or does it really have anything to do with the tango update ?
I have a Rogers Lumia working on Bell, even after the tango update, the internet sharing still cannot work. still no way to change APN to get MMS to work also.

Since Fido doesn't carry any WP7 devices at the moment and pre-Tango required APN with MMS/Internet Sharing not working, I could be wrong but, I'm going to guess that it's the Tango update through the update trick. I could be wrong but since you're on Telus, you could try the same thing.
Couple of things to note though, Nokia claims that LTE gets configured from the firmware (pre-OS boot) so don't know if it would work for you or not if you're using an LTE sim. Also, they finally confirmed that the Network Setup app is coming back to the North American marketplaces within a couple of weeks and the new version being released is supposed to work with the Lumia 900.
So you can either try doing the same through Telus or wait for the new version of the Network Setup app to be released.
Hi, I did what you said and data seems better and mms and visual voice mail is working. Have not tried tether yet. Thanks alot for the help!

I have an AT&T branded Lumia 900. I just ported my number from AT&T to Straight Talk last night. The port worked.
But I want able to get MMS or data, with any of the settings I tried, and I tried them all.
So I did a hard reset, thinking I'll just go to the marketplace via WiFi, download Network Setup, and try again clean.
But now when I go to the marketplace, I can see the Network Setup app, but I can't download it. It says, "this app is not available for your device". It says to check I am on the latest verison. I am.
Am I dead in the water until my 920 arrives? This is disappointing.
I got the Network setup app, but still ABSOLUTELY NO DATA. Anybody know the right settings? Everything I try no worka. Even this stuff: http://straighttalkwindows.com/straight-talk-nokia-lumia-data-internet-seup
Hello! I have an unlocked Galaxy Nexus on the Bell Mobility Network in Canada, that I have a US T-Mobile prepaid SIM card for traveling in the States, and getting cheap data: yay for $3/day unlimited talk, text, and data! I was away a month ago, and just noticed today, that I was unable to send picture messages. The phone said to check my APN settings, to which I said, "Wtf does that even mean?" and googled it. Upon figuring it out, I checked the settings, and it still had my T-Mobile info in there, not my Bell settings. I changed it, and everything is hunky dory, nbd.
My question is, why didn't it automatically change, when I got back to Canada and put my Bell SIM in? Also, when I got to the States, I had difficulty joining the T-Mobile network. It was stuck roaming on AT&T and I couldn't access data. I had to physically make it join the T-Mobile network, by going into the mobile settings, hitting network operators, and selecting T-Mobile from the list. I happened to figure that out on my own, purely by accident. I didn't have to do that, when I originally got the T-Mobile SIM during black Friday. I just popped it in, and it worked. My Bell APN settings were fine upon returning after Black Friday too. Does anyone know why the issue this time? I was only running the previous version of Jellybean back in November, the phone has since updated to new Jellybean, could that be why? Or is my phone crapping the bed?
Thank you for any input :0)
PS phone is unrooted and running stock Jellybean 4.2.1
I have a Galaxy S9 (SM-960U) purchased from T-Mobile, but unlocked and running with an AT&T SIM (among others, at times). Up until today, the phone was running the stock T-Mobile ROM which received various software updates on a monthly or every two month interval. I've installed them as they were released (while running various non-T-Mo SIM cards) and the latest was October 1, 2018. Today, I clicked the "Software Update" function and saw that a new update was available. When it installed and restarted, I noticed that the phone was running an AT&T branded ROM, along with the typical AT&T bloatware (e.g., CNN, Groupon, Amazon, AT&T-specific apps) that was not previously installed.
The other thing I noticed was that the phone now is only connecting to HSPA and HPSA+ networks, whereas before it would also connect to LTE.
I'm not sure why I suddenly received and installed an AT&T-branded ROM today when my S9 and all of my previous devices were fine running the T-Mo ROM and receiving updates as they were released. Does anyone have any insights as to what caused this change and whether future ROM updates will be carrier-specific based on the inserted SIM? In the past month I've used SIMs in Vietnam and Japan and it seems odd that ROMs would suddenly be based on the carrier of the day.
Also, any ideas about restoring LTE service? I've tried removing the SIM and powering off the device a few times, but no dice. This was a network/account-problem when I initially ported over to AT&T from T-Mo which took a lot of troubleshooting at the store (unsure of actual root cause), but it seems odd that a software update on the device would undo that.
The latest update (3BRJ5) is BYOD firmware. With B firmware, a carrier sim will change the csc of your phone to match the network you are connected on. Good luck getting LTE back, I have no idea on that.
*#*#4636#*#* entered into phone dial. That will allow to select preferred network type in device information.

The issue required a visit to the AT&T store, where they replaced the SIM and reset some of the network features on the back end of my account. This required a call to the retail technical support team and about 45 min. No settings were changed on the phone. The APN settings were already configured correctly (which I had confirmed as a part of initial troubleshooting).
The phone works fine now, though some features like AT&T HD Voice and the AT&T Call Protect app still don't work. I've tried contacting them twice about it and they opened a ticket but it hasn't helped. These aren't features I used before so I don't really care.

Keep in mind though that HD voice only available to postpaid At&t only not prepaid and they do required special sim card for hd voice but since you already changed sim card then the problem is not the sim card. You can try and dial #*#*4636*#*# and see if Volte is provisioned.. I wish i had my s9+ from tmobile but i dont have it anymore i was waiting for that byod software update.. Hd voice should work on BYOD custimization update on at&t
