Hello,
thats my first Post here and my English is not so good.
I downloaded the New Black Notes Hybrid but when i want to extract both files with winrar or 7zip it says Hybrid2.part1.rar
crc false at system.ext4.tar.Unexpected end of archive.
I downloaded the both files for a 2 times cause i thought it's about bed download.
What are you think?
I'm already running Kezra's Value Pack.Should i back to stock before i restore this with cwm5?
Thanks a lot.
With the two files you downloaded, put two of them into a new folder. Then open winrar and find the folder you put the two downloaded files into. Now just extract part1.rar and it will automatically extract part2 for you as well. Then copy the backup to your phone and use CWM to restore the backup
Just the same thing.
Hello snwman
it was my Kaspersky internet security.
He clear some data from rar archive.
i disabled him and downloaded again
no problem.
everything right.
thanks
Using Avast, i had the problem that in every custom rom i downloaded probably a root- or systemfile caused a virus-alert and the av software tried to manipulate the folder extracting the potentially infected file out of the zipped container.
Hi,maybe i have the same problem..I'm trying to install the black notes Rom second generation,I've download both 2 parts; and extract the first one in my sdcard with 7zip,but when i try to extract the second part the computer say: error damaged file.. Why?
Anyone know how i can do?

Hello,
disable first your internet security or antivirus program or whatever,
then download both files AGAIN and put into new folder.
then mark and unzip only the part1.rar it would be unzip both files.
then put into cwm/backup folder and restore after fullwipe.
let me know if does work.
hi,thanks now it works

May sound dumb to some of you but i do not understand on how to install a patch please help have searched thank you
Put it over the eye that hurts??
Seriously, what "patch" are you referring to? A .CAB file, a .ZIP file, a .REG file??? If you tell us what you want to do....i.e. what you want to install, then we can help you....
i have schaps 4.30 and he put up a patch but its in rar form but i cant unzip on my phone for some reason and if i try unzip before i put it on i dont know where to put it either way heres there forum its on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355774
thanks
I don't see a RAR file in that thread, all the attachments seem to be .CAB files, but hey, maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough!!! Anyway.......
To unpack RAR files, you can use WinRAR (http://www.rarlabs.com/rar/wrar371.exe) on your PC to extract the contents of the RAR archive. Unpack them to any folder on your PC (e.g. C:\TEMP) and then use ActiveSync's Explore button to find the file on your PC and then copy the file across to your phone (e.g. My Documents or Storage Card).
It's quite likely that the RAR file only contains a CAB file which you can then open on your phone - use File Explorer to find the CAB file, then tap on it to install it.
You should follow any specific instructions in Schap's thread when installing the CAB file, but in any event it's probably a good idea to soft reset your phone after you've installed something.
Hope this helps,
Mark.
ok after you pointed out a cab(i feel like a idiot my bad ) i figured it out thank you very much for all your all every one thank you .
sincerely justin

Sure....what exact files are you downloading? You should be able to tell when you're downloading them that the extension is ".cab"...as long as that's the case, just put the .cab file on your phone and click it to run from there.

in other words. Don't unpack the "cab" files on your computer or phone... just transfer the entire "cab" package to your sd card or phone. Use file explorer (on your phone) to navigate where you have saved the cab files. Select the cab file and the installation will begin
aaand this too just for the noobness haha.. if you've d/l'd a .cab to your pc and have winrar installed on it.. winrar will show the .cab's icon as that little set of books like a .rar file.. they're both archives, but the .cab doesn't need unpacking.. it's like a windows mobile version of a .exe for the pc.. just saying, i did that too at 1st.. a loong time ago.. haha
just copy and paste to your phone storage and you are all set
Hey!
I was wondering, is there a way of adding apps to a rom... theres a few apk's i practially have to have installed, so i was wondering is there a way to add these files to a zipped rom so they install within the the system folder on the phone takin up dedicated rom space instead of dedicated phone storage....
been searching for a while about this, an theres a few close threads but they stopped before it was answered.
Also i have tried unzipping the rom, adding the apks, then rezipping an it didnt work, it started installing an finished within 2 seconds so obviously it didnt install the rom.
Thanks in advance!
You should just be able to add them to the /system/app folder. You just have to use a custom recovery to flash it, because the original zip is signed, where yours isn't. So if you turn the check for signature off in the recovery it should work just fine.
Alternatively you can learn how to sign your zip file, but that's far more time consuming.
i tried doing that, toggled it off in clockworkmod and still does the same thing. so not entirely sure wat i'm doing wrong, all i'm doing is rezipping it to a zip file using winrar.... should i try somethin else?
and yeah i made sure it did it to a zip file an not a rar file

I had a similar problem like yours.
Here is where we were wrong. We unzipped the .zip, added whatever we did, and then selected the folder and added to zip, which is wrong. You have to select ALL the folders and files WITHIN the folder unzipped and add it to archive.
Meaning, I have for ex. update-OD4.0.10.zip, after I unzip it it gets a folder containing all the files and folders of the ROM. You have to go one level in, select them all (files and folders in there) and add it to zip. Et voila!
Hope you understand my English!

Now that makes me feel stupid haha!!! your totally right, that sorted out the problem, thanks a lot!!! sometimes its the simplest things that you forget about
Yes you will of course have to add the folders in the same structure as before, as the update script are telling the recovery which folders to flash where, and you are leaving that script unchanged.

My pleasure I loled as well! At least I went deeper in my feeling stupid, changing RAR tools, different compression types etc... and the answer was there all along.
Hello, I've recently uninstalled and wiped my SD card of Android. Now I'm trying to install it from the latest (01/23) cab file and I keep getting an installation error when running it on my phone. I've also tried to extract the cab file manually on my computer with 7-Zip, but I get decompression errors. And when I unrar the .rar file I get a completely flattened directory structure.
What am I doing wrong here?
Delete all the Android files and folders from your SD card. This means the Android, andboot, and any other Android related folders that may have been created by apps and such.
Copy everything that's left off of your SD card onto your computer.
Format the card to FAT32.
Put all the stuff back onto your SD card.
Reinstall XDAndroid.
I've never had luck with the cab. I think it has something to do with the size, and how the device handles cabs. For me, it has been easier to download the rar file, extract that on the desktop, and then copy over the andboot directory to your sdcard.
I usually create a staging location on the hard drive before copying it to the device. Doing this allows you to customize the files/configs: edit the startup.txt file on the desktop, replace the original rootfs with F22's new file that allows for keyboard mappings, etc. Then when it's all finished, simply copy the directory to the sdcard.

I tried this and it didn't work. Got an error half way through the install.
For pohket's suggestion, I'm limited to Linux tools, and unrar extracts a flat directory structure for me, so there isn't like an `andboot` or other such directories, just every file, which I don't know how to organize.
I ended up using an old release from November 1, 2010. It's been the most stable release I've used so far. (and also the only release I had saved on my computer)

I have the feeling the latest cab file was not working too well. In the end I used the rar files as well and extracted those.
the cab doesn't work!!!

I had the same problem with that cab, I did everything: erase, format, copy, download - many times from different computers...but doesn't work at all. You should download the RAR file and uncompress into the fat32 - SD card. Worked at the first time.
ps: this FRX04 2.2.1 is quite slower than the FRX03!!!
Also, it halts everytime!!! (in my rhodium 210).
Recently I started downloading music in zip files to my phone for storage. But when I try to unzip them, I get errors. I tried on 4 did file managers including root manager. Do I need s-off todo this?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Mount USB and unzip it. Nice and quick. Root explorer does it and most other archiving apps do it. Maybe the archive is corrupt?
I don't think so. Root manager actually lets me open the file and listen to the songs with the inapps player but if I try and extract, I get either a error or a completed msg but I check the file and it's empty

I use the good old Astro and it always unzips the files for me. Also tried AndroZip, worked, too.
No idea then. A zip file is just an archive for file(s) so you should be able to extract them just fine. Otherwise it is deemed corrupted. I guess you could test the archive and see if there are any errors with it and maybe if there is, that might help you a little more. You can test the archives out using WinRar or maybe some app.
Try Estrong file explorer.
Else download dropbox and transfer the files to your phone after you unzipped them on your computer.
BTW unzipping should not even require a rooted phone.
thx 4 the info all. im going to reflash cyanogen 7. just a question thou. is cyanogen 7 the best of the best as far as roms r concerned?
Maybe there's something wrong with the zip file or the ROM. No need to S-OFF in order to extract archive files
