upcoming htc quad core phone with removable battery? - HTC One X

Hi all. I would like to buy the htc one x. But i do not like the idea of unremovable battery because it is very inconvenient. I have to get another external charger n plug it into the phone and that external charger is limiting the comfort of moving about. It would be great if htc release a quad core phone with removable battery so when the battery is weak, i can just insert another fully charge battery into it. Any idea is htc releasing such a phone?

Maybe something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SegGNkEG7nk
http://www.dhgate.com/2000mah-recha...ttery/p-ff80808135c891650135cc489cf56f27.html

They just released the One series, As for now the One X is the only quad core phone on the market afaik.
Wait to see the Galaxy SIII (or SIIs ?) it will possible be a quad core...
Btw, the battery life is pretty decent after some charges and rom tweaks, I also thought it would be a problem, but it is fine now (I only am afraid from bricking it...)

wait 6 months and they will probably launch another new 'flagship' phone (seems to be their modus operandi) called the One X-S with removable battery and sdcard... and
edit:
or Second Edition X (SEX) hehe

Hi there. Hmm... You mentioned about afraid to brick it. Would you elaborate more on how does the unremovable battery come into play with bricking the phone?
Well, I thought of the galaxy s III too. But I would like to use HTC sense. Currently I am using hd2 nand android. The HTC sense interface is fantastic.

sorry for double posting

Are there any of this for one x?

anyone knows if there are battery/juice jacket for one x?

I don't think they made such cases for other than an iPhone but it's still to early to judge. In the meanwhile you can buy something like an 11000mAh External Battery, it should keep you good for some 6 full recharges It's welcome to hang around and very handy to have if you're out and/or camping and such

thanks for all the replies. 1 last question. how is the volume level of the speaker when you get a call? is the ringing volume loud enough?

yes it's good enough and of course uses the Sense to know if it's in your pocket or purse to ring louder... when you pick the phone up in your hand it also knows and lowers the volume almost to zero

PowerSkin or Solarskin for HOX

I was wondering if anyone hase seen anything like on http://www.power-skin.com for the HOX
or even more interesting to me would be to know if there is a solarchargerSkin to be found for the HTC One X as we have seen for the IPhone.
If not I would like to start, maybe a Kickstarter project to make this happen!
please Do !!! It benefit who HOX world
I think the HOX needs something like a spectacles case with the docking pins inside connected to an external rechargeable battery. That way it will recharge while not in use.

Definitly in!
The pogo connector makes for a great oppertunity!
Perhaps this could also include the development of a charging+data dock? (without the huge price and useless speakers)

Sounds great. Make it work with the dock pins to keep the ports open in case you want to do hdmi out

press the thanks button if i helped you with this info
I am definitely interested as I am a technology reviewer on YouTube and am sent products from companies for review. I would love to help get the word out as I definitely think this awesome phone is in dire need of some expandability options!
I want one of those PowerSkin case, I get worried when battery is less than 40% and it take ages to charge through USB port. I'm starting to eye Galaxy SIII to see how much more screen-on time it can get.
I'd not use it all the time, only when the phone battery goes below 50%, so the phone still can be used normally while the internal battery get charged from the power case.

Galaxy s3 actually won't get better battery life. It's uses a lot more battery web browsing etc....one x gets better battery life in general.
Only thing is swappable battery. But battery jacket when it comes will be nicer.

I'm also looking to see if S III have more stable software than the One X.
I never really had any major problem with my last phone (Note). But with One X on latest software, the phone lose SD space, 3rd party launcher re-draw all the widget/folder too often and I still have not got my 23Gb Dropbox space since getting the phone on launch day.
This is not acceptable after paying £450 for a flagship device from a major phone maker. I've already advised few worker mates to stay away from the One X until HTC release a stable ROM.

Need help getting convinced

It's time for me to get a new device and having been very happy with a HTC Magic, HTC Hero and now happily using a HTC Desire Z and HTC Flyer, I find myself gravitating towards the One X. I love the looks and since Nvidia keeps buying out the shiniest games I believe Tegra 3 is the CPU to get.
I do have some concerns:
- No removable battery
Charging every night is no problem for me, but I'm a compulsive romflasher and pulling the battery on a loop/crash has saved my devices multiple times.
- No external SD
I don't think this will be a big problem, but I like being able to pull the card from my phone and plug in my PC.
- Humongous screen
As far as I'm concerned, the 3.7 inch on my Desire Z is perfect: I can hold it and reach all the way across the screen with the same hand. I like being able to use my phone with only one hand available. Also, the Desire Z fits in my pockets easily. I'm not sure the One X will fit as easily.
- Development community
Like I said, I love tinkering with my device. The Desire Z is still supported by a huge amount of (great) developers. Will the One X stay supported as well?
- Hardware keyboard
I love my physical keyboard, but I find myself using it less and less.
Any One X users here that can alleviate my worries?

Ok. I'll Do my best.
1. You can hold the Power Button 10 seconds and a battery pull is simulated. This works perfect. No need for a replacable battery for that.
2. Nothing to say. No way to use storage without phone Booted. You can adb push in recovery. Thats it. Love it or leave it.
3. In fact I had the same concerns. You'll need 10 minutes to get used to it. And all pants I own are hox compatible ;-) (i do wear thinght pants to...) But in fact it's again up to your likeing. Test it and if you don't like it, return it...
4. The community us growing. But to now sense 4 in ics is top of the line. So only space for mods and small improvements. At least there are some roms to test. We got official miui an cm9 is around the corner. I think the devs here are awesome and came up with great improvements. So expect big things to come ;-)
5. The soft keyboard on 4.7 inch is big enough to replace a hardware keyboard for me. And again, it's a question of loveing it or not. The keyboard is much bigger than the desire z's. I think it's more than an replacement. It's far better than a hardware keyboard.
I hope I was able to help you a bit with your concerns.
I would say there aren't any better phones to get by now. And the build quality is great. Also HTC has delivered some fast ota's.
In the end its up to you. Just my two cents...
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X mit Tapatalk 2
- No removable battery
You can hold down the power button for 10 seconds to simulate a battery pull. The battery is good and it'll last a whole day on medium usage. If you use it heavily (wth the screen on) for something like 4/5 hours straight with really heavy usage then you'll find you'll need a charger with you at least 2 times a day.
- No external SD
32GB onboard, Dropbox is 25GB storage which you can use to stream videos if you have an unlimited/high data plan. You can plug in the phone straight away which might be easier than taking a card out.
- Humongous screen
It'll fit in every pocket, i had the same concern as you but it really does fit in every one. The screen is ever so slightly too big to use with one hand, unless you have large hands. But you get used to it and it's really only the extreme corners of the screen you can't touch.
- Development community
It's HTC one and only flagship phone this year. Already loads of roms including MiUi and CM9 so it'll stay supported. Not S-OFF at the moment but give it some time.
- Hardware keyboard
Keyboard is large and easy to use. + android market has plenty of keyboards available. HTC keyboard also support swype input. Personally i use smart keyboard pro because it's clean.
Overall it's a great phone, but like i said, battery life is the only issue if you are a really really heavy user. (mine can go from 100% to dead in around 4 hours straight on screen time) But the new phones have excellent build quality and the design is nice and easy to hold. Software updates on the way to fix minor bugs.
The S3 is a good alternative, but we are yet to see how good it actually is compared to the One X. So if you need a phone now, go with the One X if you're conviced. If you have time see what people say during launch week of the S3.
thanks for the replies. The battery pull stuff was my biggest concern, glad that won't be a real issue. I've been looking at the galaxy s III, but while I like most of it I really miss the Tegra on that one. And, based on the photos, I think it is really ugly.

[Q] confused between sgs 3 and one x. please help!! which one to choose?

i opened a new thread because i couldnt find any thread related to my problem.
i am plannng to buy a new phone. as the title of this thread says. i am seriously very confused about these two phones. i dunno why i have this soft corner for one x. i think its because of the classy looks and the screen. also i prefer 4.7 than 4.8. but i read some reviews and i got confused. otherwise ryt now i would have had one x in my hand. the things that is holding me back are:
1) battery issue: this is one of the BIGGEST issue.i stay out in the university from 7:00 a.m till 8:00 p.m(thats when i reach home). i need to listen to music for 2hrs. normal call and txting (NO MOBILE DATA). at max one hour of wifi usage. 1.5 hrs of gaming. or sometimes watch a movie in the free time. (thats very rare). ( 2HRS MAX)
if i do all of these in one day then i hav 10 percent left in my sgs when i reach home.( may be less but not more than 10). can HTC one x handle it? with stock rom and kernel? how much battery does custom rom saves? the pokemon one. I GUESS
2) one of my friend bought one x and said not to buy it cz battery life sucks and phone gets heated very easily and the screen flickering problem. which is obv a main issue for me.but still i dunno y i am so attracted to this phone that i opened a new thread for it.lol.
3) since my dad will be bringing my phone from UK so my physical presence wont be there because i live in bangladesh. so i am afraid of all these problems mentioned here:: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24516940#post24516940
and here:: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26000212
what should i do. once my dad buys it. i cant return in because he wont be going to UK for a long time.
I've had the one x and returned it, go for the galaxy s3. Miles better, you'll only regret the one x if you encounter problems. As standing the one x has many problems, I went through 3 devices only to have faults in each one. It overheated, died in 3-4 hours with constant use, software and design flaws in all three too. Got it replaced with a galaxy s3 which battery life is excellent lasting me over 10 hours with constant use, doesn't overheat, software is fluent and smooth as butter and pictures don't do it justice too as it looks badass in reality. I 100% say to go with the galaxy s3, you won't be disappointed
ok thanks a lot for the views but my question is doesnt htc know that consumers are having all this problem? y dont they do anything? this is absolutely terrible. y did htc did a terrible thing to their flagship. does anyone else have any views?
All the issues that u have mentioned have been addressed by the new 1.29 update..no issues whatsover here..n One X looks stunning n s3 looks awful..
S3 has a pentile display which means it will have black clipping n color banding issues like Note n Nexus..the One X has a RGB n its simply superb..
N the build quality of s3 is really cheap n one X feels really premium in the hand n also to look at..
N if u r into mobile gaming then u will be glad to know that today HTC has been officially certified for running PlayStation suite..that means we will get all PS games on One X..
N there are no build issues too in the new lot from HTC ..
PS: mine is a real early build of March n using it for 2 months n I never had a single issue

Heating n battery issues have been addressed in the new update..n no build issues in the new lot either...don't worry..
Gaming is the only thing that's gonna suck your battery..but that will be the case on S3 too coz these are quad core phones n u can't compare them to a single core galaxy S..

The heating only happens if you play heavy 3D games, and mine reaches a maximum of 46 degrees celcius which isn't anywhere near harmful.
About the usage, I'm getting around 16 hours on my one X running faux's kernel and the pokemon rom. This is with ~4 hours of screen on time on auto brightness (lowered the auto value though since the stock one was waaay too high).
As for 1.5 hours of gaming during this time, don't count on playing really graphically intense games (THD) for that long combined with your described usage. Should be fine with other games though.
Listening to music drains very little battery because of the 5th power saver core. Basically whenever the screen is off, battery time is amazing.
Hope this helps.
Check battery stats thread for result. Charmeleon Rom will satisfy your battery needs.

Try them both then decide.
I've not had a chance to try the SGS3 yet but I've got one on order to be delivered on Thursday so will test against the HOX.
Both are high end models. Both excel in certain features.
Now I'll tell you what I like about my HOX:
The screen, it's just lush, sure blacks are not deep as AMOLED but everything else is sharp crisp and natural. It betters my previous SGS2 and any other phone I've owned. Text is sharp, colours appear natural and whites are white.
The camera, some say hox is better some say sgs3 is better. But I like the HOX camera, it's got burst mode built into the capture button unlike the Samsung and can take upto 99 shots and review straight after once again unlike the Samsung. Pictures are nice check out the pictures thread and make your mind up.
The design, it's a lovely looking phone the matte finish is better looking than the glossy Samsung. But this is subjective and a matter of personal preference.
The sensors are hidden so less clutter on the bezel which is a nice touch.
Sense, I prefer it over Touchwiz especially for Facebook integration and looks more polished and refined than Touchwiz. Again a personal preference.
The keyboard built in is very good but I prefer SwiftKey any way.
It would have been nice to have an extended battery and removeable storage but I'm always near a phone charger so not am issue and 32gb is fine for me. But if these are important to you then go for the Samsung.
Other than the software gimmicks on the Samsung they are pretty much the same sure the sgs3 is faster and such but nothing optimises both phones as of yet. Plus HTC do roll out frequent updates.
I'll post more views after playing with the sgs3 but it'll need to be overall much better than the HOX for my day to day usage for me to move to it. Running Charmeleon rom at the moment and now it's perfect.

Completely meaningless information you posted. No technical information at all just opinion, sounds like your trying to convince yourself And yea playstation suite sounds good and all but you can get playstation emulators anyway as I have on my galaxy s3. And how can you say there's no problems when a new thread opened recently about antenna problems? Loads of people affected. Look for yourself on this thread vs galaxy s3 thread to see which your most likely to get a problem with. I think you'll find it's the hox. My s3 easily lasts a day and a half on stock imagine on custom rom (very easy to root and flash just saying). Sorry but it blows the hox outta the water, in every way. Altough design and looks are subjective, galaxy s3 does not feel cheap nor look it, people who say that haven't even held one I'm their hand. Looks fantastic in my opinion better than hox. Good luck in making your choice dude
S3 overhyped
The S3 is so overhyped you can only be dissapointed.
the HTC xone is the first phone i have seen i 3 years to beat the Iphone 4 which is now defo dated.
regarding the were so high.
battery, granted initially it was terrible but with this 1.29 patch it is fine remember we are talking quad core power.
the graphics on this phone are simply mndblowing and the heating problem i have never encountered, maybe cos i put the upgrade on straight away.
you know if your mates reccomend a movie saying it is the best movie they have ever seen and then you go and then you are dissapointed because the expectations were so high.
Samsung media and marketing is working at full power trying to convince the nation that this S3 is the greatest thing thing sliced bread and us Brits as usual are as gullible as ever. dont get me wrong the S3 is ia greeat phone but if you have an S2 and are expecting incredible things, you will be gutted.
The HTC ONE X is defo the phone to go for but make sure yo put the 1.29 patch on it. Its truly amazing.

Not defending one-x or s3.. but seriously what ever you have written is just theorerical..build/better/etc,etc... one thing.. i never carry my phone naked.. no matter gorila glass or w.e... a cover comes up.. feels safe.. so build/looks.. bye bye.. get an attractive cover..
Camera yeah i agree.. one-x is better.. but tht noise.. and dont even get me started on video recording.. my one-x used to record a high-pitched sound everytime i was on stereo recording..
Actually both phones are kinda similar.. only deal break= battery..
Accept it or not.. its the ugly fact of life.. gs3 juices out MAX 7 freaking hrs of screen time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES YOU ARE NOT BLIND... 7HRS!!!!
as far as the galaxy's i have.. stand-by is ok!...
Stand-by on one-x.. lol yeah true it shows on 100% if you dont use it after charge.. but.. just withen 5mins of phone call.. battery drops to 89%.. kept on standby during the college time for like 3-4hrs
Battery is the deal breaker... go for s3.. go for LG's new phone.. or wait for iSh!t-5.. its all the same.. just if one-x had a beast battery like note or s3.. htc would be giving samsung a banana ride.. (if you know what i mean )
EDIT-: Make the on screen time of s3 to 9hrs41mins.. lol..

EDIT-: Make the on screen time of s3 to 9hrs41mins.. lol..

Sorry to burst your bubble, but screen on time is not the defining factor.
I've seen users of both, say the sgs3 is not lasting as long as their HOX for how they used their phones. (And I've also heard the sgs3 does last longer for them, so both verdicts)
ALSO we have a HOX user with 12hours screen in time, kinda makes your 9hrs comment look a bit ****ty right?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk 2
I did a partial charge from 20 to 80% and browse tapatalk for an 45min. Battery never drops.
Samsung fan boys who doesn't own just dont give blind suggestion.

He just left the screen on. We are proud that we are PS certified and we have better standby time. Just post your standby time here. GS3 cant even lost 1 hour without a drop. And every one admit that HOX looks better and it has better life than it has 1800mah. Wtf you are doing with 2100mah ??? cant even get similar battery stats with HOX.
HOX is optimised well and gs3 is a copycat of HOX!!!

Planning to buy HTC One V - Is my decision correct?

I am in mobile market for past 15 days and after some research only one phone has touched my heart i.e. HTC One V. It's design is fantastic, screen is good, has expandable memory, has snob value, good build quality, expandable memory, running latest android os, fair battery capacity, camera is better than most phones in this category etc. Only issue is single core 1GHZ processor because of which many have turned against this phone. I haven't tried this phone my self yet but from most youtube videos I can see that this phone hardly lags or slow downs. It is almost capable of running most of the applications.
Now coming down to my requirements from a phone
-> Basic phone usage i.e incoming/outgoing calls and SMSes.
-> Internet browsing/Email
-> Music listening
-> Taking Photos
-> Watching movies/youtube videos
After considering these requirements I find HTV One V a perfect phone for myself. I hardly play any game and it looks VFM. (Retailing for around 17K with 8GB card).
Please suggest me whether I should stick to this phone or is there any new better model coming up?
Xperia U is ruled out because of non-expandable memory, Xperia Sola and others are not touching heart (not feeling exclusive as design is almost same across the XPERIA range).
I have seen that there are number of complaints for HTC One V like yellow spots, phone not charging etc. I don't want any issues in a new phone. Are those issues now solved or was particular to a specific manufactured lot?
Any other phones in my fixed budget of 20K?
I haven't got any issue with my One V. I'm just lovin the phone...

I am very pleased with my one v so far, with the help of the fine people on the site I am rooted and rocking along and I do use the V.M. CDMA, FYI, if you go with this phone I had much better luck with twrp than CWM for back up.

Hello bluevolt,
I can understand that feeling of a phone touching your heart. Design and styling wise you don't have much options. Battery capacity is good and for your intended use will stay for about 30hrs on full charge. The display is something that is excellent (visibility problem only with bright sunlight) but I do have some reservations about the camera. Images look good on phone screen but the shortcomings are visible on bigger screens or print (my wife's sony xperia x10 mini 5MP camera gives better images). Here I am not talking about image clarity but image quality. Many take both as same. Colors feel extra bright sometimes (particularly in bright portraits) like some artificiality. I don't think you plan to use the camera for something more than casual photography and so it should suffice.
Coming to complaints - yes I faced the issue of yellow spots on display right at bottom and top left corners. It was not affecting anything but annoying sometimes (white background especially) more because you expect a company to quality check each and every product before it comes to market (they will put stickers "QC passed") and still miss something like that on screen!!! I procured the set from Malaysia and did not want to part with the phone for long :silly: so decided not to report the issue. Then one day when I was traveling, my phone just died in my pocket without any reason (enough battery, no chance of combination keys being active) and realized that HTC service center is as bad as it can be. It took almost a month for them to declare it irreparable and provide a replacement (yet to come to my hand).
You have an alternative in Xperia Neo L which is retailing at about 18K. You will definitely get a better camera, and 4" screen, but battery may be compromised (please see the specifications in detail). It all boils down to personal preference
If you plan to buy HTC One V, properly check for any display issues right in the shop. It must be visible on the white background when you switch it on (especially in corners) and also if you try google play store (without net connection - grey background) and also if you open ebooks. If so reject the piece outright. Shop will get it replaced. You argue for another set or moneyback.
I have to agree on one thing. OneV is a looker and it grows on you. I was more worried about not having it in my hand rather than thinking about getting the complaint rectified.
Regards
One V is great, but if I had the choice again I'd go for the One S.

If it touched your heart, you have to go for it! Because if you like the design you're not going to enjoy anything else. Don't worry about the processor, it runs very smooth. I had a 1.5GHz dualcore before, and noticed no real speed difference. HTC is even releasing a 600MHz phone these days, the Desire C. And you can overclock. It's perfectly stable at 1.5GHz, and with any luck you can go to 2GHz. Any more than that just needlessly reduces battery life. You will be able to go over a day without charging, and laugh at everybody who can't.
As for your personal requirements, I think it does all of those fine. I don't know whether watching full-length movies on a 3.7" screen will be fun, in case you meant that. But any of the bigger phones will barely have the battery life to do that. It's best to get a cheap tablet and use the V as a wifi router in that case.
I don't know about manufacturing errors, as my phone came just fine. But I'm not seeing too many complaints on this forum. And I think you will just get a replacement in that case. They say the One series is a bit easy to brick though, but if you are careful you should be fine.
As for alternatives, if you don't need GPS capabilities, a used Galaxy S would offer roughly the same hardware for a lot less money. I don't think you will enjoy it with the One V in the back of your mind though. And the Xperia Ray might be worth looking up in case you are fine with such small a screen. Also you can try this to get some more ideas. Just be sure to google whether they have any flaws. Most One V alternatives do have some crippling flaw, the One V does not.
I am not aware of interesting alternatives being released soon. And if you get a newly released phone you will have to go without custom roms for quite a while. The One V already has an official MIUI, and will soon have CyanogenMod9.

Bad battery life, and from what I read getting a GPS fix takes two minutes. Also the low button placement makes it really fumbly and easy to drop.

HTC One V GSM edition users can take advantage of the NinjaTel ROM, which is always a bonus over other phones

Will they open the new piece for me to check for any screen issues?
croma will give at cheap rates
and no dey wil not open.. once u confirm your purchase then they will open and give a demo

Hi,
I own one for two weeks now and it is my first Smartphone. The reasons I got it were:
- handling with a single hand possible
- nice design, good finnish and build quality
- size is small enough to fit in Jeans pocket, large enough to be usable
- HTC makes a lot of fuzz about their photo chip, well...it was a reason. But I am not satisfied.
- expandable storage via MicroSD
- modern model
I did not have any issues, yet, except of a full SD card wipe out, reformat and factory settings reset, but that was not caused by the phone itself, I assume it was GTAIII or some of the background apps I had installed like Avast and Automagic.
The "slow" CPU is not an issue at all (I also play games). I never ever came across some slow CPU performance. The only real issue might be the low amount of RAM. This I find a bit lacking. 768MB, or better, 1GB, would have been nice. Also it lacks a lot of sensors, that I would like to have, such as Gravity, Magnetometer, Rotation Vector, Orientation, Pressure and Temperature But then, I am a Geek.
What I also miss is a special button, directly for the camera. I should be able to hit it and the phone would wake up with the cam set ready and the next press would shoot a photo.
I do not find the camera to be soo good as advertised. Some reviews say it's great, others say it's not.
Also, 3.7" is a eeny wheeny tad to small.
The phone I like the most ATM would be the HTC One S, since it's got a 4.3" screen but they made it so, that it si nearly as sleek as the One V and can be handled with a single hand. However, and that is the big big problem with it: It's got no storage expansion. You are damned to feel good enough with 16GB of RAM, which I find a joke. I have a MacBook with an SD card reader and an SSD in it. I store my music on a file-server at home (NAS) and export them for mobile use (Laptop and Phone) as MP3 onto SD Cards. This way I can plug the cars into the Laptop and the phone. Otherwise I'd need a much bigger SSD which is too expensive (and still would need one, two SD cards for the phone). I can't wait for the 512GB MicroSDs
Okay, enuough of my own Smartphone philosophy (amazing topic!).
Summing it up: for that, what you want to do, the phone is enough. It is even enough for me, who plays games as well. "HTC Sense" is very nice and capable! The phone is very easy and comfortable to use. It has a very nice display, IMO, reading ebooks seems like on an E-Ink display. Audio quality (with ear-phones) is also very good, IMO. I did not yet stress test it, but battery life is sufficient for my use. I plug it in anyway, as soon as I am home. Of all the offers on the market, it may be only medium class, but is, overall, still one of the best. The CPU is no issue at all, IMO. The RAM is, sometimes. Also, more than 1GB of internal storage would have been nice, so you can install more apps, that you really really want to make sure, are always with you. However, this is more an esotheric issue and not really at hand, since you most obviously will use SD cards. Oh, and the metal-unibody is nice, too. Very sturdy, is good in the pocket. The cam? You won't really find any satisfying camera outside of some NOKIA or SONY offers, but they have other drawbacks. I would say: Get it! :cyclops:

You will need sort of soft case or hard case to prevent damages. I feel like my phone is squeezed in my Jean's side pocket. But this phone is still pocketable.

[Q] Buying HTC One X

Hello.
I'm looking to buy a new phone and HTC One X looks like a decent option.
I currently own a XPERIA Mini Pro by Sony Ericsson and it had served me quite nice for more than a year now.
I'm not really "power-hungry", but I like playing games on my smartphone. I usually play games like GTA VC and Minecraft PE, which run surprisingly well on my overclocked xperia.
After reading quite a few reviews about HTC One X on the internet, I have some questions:
Is the phone overheating?
Had your device ever rebooted by itself?
Is the phone too big to hold and use with just one hand? (keep in mind that I'm coming from a 3" phone)
How's the general performance of the stock ROM with Sense? Does it lag sometimes? Is installing custom ROM a must?
What's your gaming experience with the device?
How's the battery life? Can it hold for at least a day?
And finally, what's your general opinion about the device? Is it worth buying now, or should I wait for something new? (ignoring One X+, that's not what I call an upgrade)
Buying HTC One X
How much of a hurry are you in? This is like new phone season, or will be soon. Probably a few phones to be released at Mobile World Congress (end of this month I think) then available to buy maybe 6 to 8 weks later.
Having said that I am very happy with my One X (although my usage habits are very different than yours (not much gaming).
Is the phone overheating?
No
Had your device ever rebooted by itself?
I had a problem with this for about a month, but after latest OTA not anymore except when I put it n my jeans pocket
Is the phone too big to hold and use with just one hand? (keep in mind that I'm coming from a 3" phone)
For me yes a little, but you get used to it fast
How's the general performance of the stock ROM with Sense? Does it lag sometimes? Is installing custom ROM a must?
No lag for me, I'm ok with sense, I like their peripheral apps very much (mail, calendar, etc) but I use Apex launcher to customize the home screen etc.
What's your gaming experience with the device?
Hah, just backgammon and chess
How's the battery life? Can it hold for at least a day?
For me yes
If you play games its normal to become a little bit hot, stock is ok, but I always go for custom roms, no reboots, you'll probably need a week or two to get used to its size, and there's no way the battery will last full day if you play games. And yes, if the price is good go for it.
Sent from my HTC One X
Yeah its a good phone, if you manage to buy one with super CID it will be an excellent phone.
is the phone overheating?
it gets quit hot sometimes (after playing a half hour temple run you can feel the phone in your pocket because of the temperature)
had your device ever rebooted itself?
no
is the phone to big?
definitely not, i think it's the perfect size. i can reach the whole screen with one hand and because of its thickness it fits easily in your pocket
general performance with sense:
seems pretty good as long as you don't play games. everything else works smooth and loads fast.
gaming experience:
bad. very bad. although the one x has much potential many games have problems with the tegra 3: temple run 2 doesn't run as fluid as on the sgs2 or sgs3, beach buggy blitz also has sometimes framedrops. there is a gaming-boost app for this but, although most of the games run better after that they are still not completly smooth.
battery life:
it depends. standby almost drains nothing because of the 5th companion core but if you play games it will drain the battery in 2 hours of active use. i can make it from 7am till 3-5pm with one charge if i play a lot. you could say a charge is enough for 1hr browsing/news 45min youtube 45min gaming and 20min call
i don't think it's worth buying it now because like someone else already said we will see a lot of new phones at the end of this month and prices for older models will drop after new ones have been announced/released. i personally am happy with my purchase. if you hate glossy plastic like i do this is the device for you!
ps: you should inspect your device for any damages as soon as you get it, my first one had a small white scratch on the backside near the dock-dots (no problem on the white one but it will drive you crazy if you have a gray version) and the black ring around the camera was slightly misplaced.
one more thing: htc released the jelly bean kernel sources today, so if you're into flashing you can expect better jelly bean roms and new kernels in a short manner of time.
Buy Nexus.
I am a HTC One X Owner.
if you want the best Software and gaming experiance its relly fast and without sense **** . and for the big screens this is super easy in a week you going to be a new guy and you not be able to touch phones under 4 inch
Best buy go for it
