I have just travelled from iPhone 4s to the nexus and I'm really impressed
One thing I can't work out how to do is show in my email widget the number of emails unread . I'm gonna find it really weird only seeing notification on the top and not on the widget can this be enabled ? I've looked through all the settings but can't see anything
Thanks in advance

attachment of screenshot with widget...
Excellent found that can you tell me how to switch the flashing notification on ?
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if you can set the led to flash for emails on stock without an app.
I do know you can set this using the Light Flow app from the Market
Isn't there supposed to be a led or the pulse light on when the phone is on charge?

I don't why but that app won't work on my phone. I am using AOSP (I compiled from scratch) with google apps and root, nothing else. Does anyone else have any issues? I find these LED apps are hit and miss.

Last thing I want is a bright LED blinking when I'm trying to sleep. The LED is for notifications. If it blinks when charging, how would you know when you got a message?

By the color of the LED light of course.
It has an option to dim for sleeping.
I use it sometimes.

Light flow is the best for LED control IMO. It has a sleep mode that allows you to turn off LED notifications between whatever times you want and you can set notifications for most everything you need.

With Light Flow you can set the LED to stay on without blinking. And it will slowly cycle through other colors for any notifications you have besides the charging/charged notification. Also, you can tell a notification turn off after a certain amount of time
For instance, I have my charging indicator set to be a light green -- then when fully charged it switches to a dark green for 30 minutes, then shut off. So if I'm charging it overnight, I won't see the charging notification in the morning -- but I will see any other notifications since I tell everything else to stay on indefinitely.
You can also set the notifications for charging to be low priority. When a higher priority notification comes in, such as SMS or missed calls, the LED will stop blinking the colour of the charging indicator and only blink the higher priority notification instead.

Anyway to disable this all together on touchwiz roms?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Not in one shot. You have to find settings for everything and turn off notifications LED if the option is provided. Sometimes you only get the notification toggle. So for each email you have to shut it off, for messaging, for games like wordfeud, FB, Twitter...and so on.

Level 9000: Poke around the source and neuter the driver that controls it.
Level nub: Check the many LED control apps to find one with a toggle that universally disables the LED notification.

On ICS I was using light flow to customize the colors and events triggering the LED. I used blue for SMS. Now that I've ported to JB and restored my apps and their settings using Titanium Backup anytime after getting SMS and reading it, the LED keeps blinking blue but only when the screen is off. Didn't happen on ICS. What do I do? Or is this a ROM specific issue?

The led only blinks when the screen is off. It DOES do that in ICS. That's how it's supposed to be
I would delete light flow and re install bc in their last update they fixed that issue for jb

It didn't do it for me back on ICS. In fact the LED didn't work at all, that's why I installed Light Flow in the first place. On JB the problem is that it still blinks even after reading the message as if there was another message to read. A phone reboot fixes it.

If its the same as the nexus 4 and gnex, then its multi colored, try using light manager, you can test out all the led colors and such but it does require root I think

I have it turned on, but I still get no notification light, even using lightflow and running the test, I get no light anywhere. Maybe I have a dud tablet.

From what we can currently tell it is only a single color, white.

You turn it on under display > Pulse Notification. Make sure that is checked. Lightflow app is compatible but my notification does not work even when running the test on the app.
I am having the same problem which I don't really mind if the light doesn't work.

I could live without it, but since I got mine at a Best Buy, I'll probably bring it back just so I get one that works as it was intended to.

OK, I am an idiot. I stared at the wrong place. I was expecting the notification light at the top but apparently it is at the bottom. Haha

Download light flow lite, you can use that app to manage notifications for any program you want.
The light only works when you receive a notification with the tablet screen off
