I have just travelled from iPhone 4s to the nexus and I'm really impressed
One thing I can't work out how to do is show in my email widget the number of emails unread . I'm gonna find it really weird only seeing notification on the top and not on the widget can this be enabled ? I've looked through all the settings but can't see anything
Thanks in advance

Also notification light doesn't flash ? How does this get enabled thanks

Mine shows the unread count in the stock gmail widget on the top right
attachment of screenshot with widget...
Excellent found that can you tell me how to switch the flashing notification on ?
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if you can set the led to flash for emails on stock without an app.
I do know you can set this using the Light Flow app from the Market

Ok it blinks in blue when i have facebook notification but when i have missed call there is no outside indication what so ever.
I was so used on my nexus one the trackball to pulse in red when i have missed call, why there isn't built-in option for that here?
Any 3rd party software to solve that?

Thanks, seems that this will do the job.
But i'm still curious how they didn't give us a way to configure something quite important as that? Or at least had some default settings....
Other thing that bothers me, that there is no indicator for charging....
welcome to Galaxy Nexus! here are other possible issues you might encounter now ..

Is it possible to have diff colour for diff notifications?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
you can't change it yourself.
red is assigned to power(charging/low power)
green for actual notifcations
blue for sound recording.

Actually you can (somewhat)...Well I did with the Handsent SMS app. Its possible to change the colors for the notifcation within that app so I'm guessing that the notifications colors only work if the app has it within the settings.

I'm getting something different on my Note 2.
Red is the same, for power.
Blue is for notifications (sms and such)
Haven't seen a green notification light yet.

That means with the right software it can be changed. Maybe some developer will be able to come up with something

Light flow works just fine for me. I've changed all the led colors.
Be aware that the install process will make you turn off air view. Just turn it back on after installing.

Wow, thanks to this thread, I finally came to know that Note 2 does have a notification LED just like galaxy s3 as someone told me it doesn't have. Lightflow is good but drains a lot of battery. Try this as well https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5rb28ubGlnaHRtYW5hZ2VyIl0.

Yeah I was severely disappointed that my OG Note doesn't have a NL. Pretty ridiculous. I searched for a video on release day showing it had a NL on the GN2

Anyone knows if these apps would stuff up the led light? Eg. Make it burnt out?

Any updates on this? Any new apps or 3rd party developers?
Light manager from play Store

Light manager works great. Works for me on 4.3. Unrooted. Its free too
Any possibilities of Notification LED to get damaged or burn out by using this (or any similar) app?

I've just upgraded from the original Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 to a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100
On my old Tab if there was a notification that was too long to fit on the screen I could long press on the notification and it would begin to scroll right to left allowing me to read the whole message. On my shiny new super phone that long press no longer works (instead it brings up a button for App Info which is no help at all!)
Is there a way to read the whole of a notification without having to go to launch the app associated with it?
Thanks!
In 4.1 JB you have to put two fingers on it and slide down to expand the notification. Although it doesn't work for all notifications.

Thanks for the reply.
That seems to work for Gmail but not for Pulse and if there is more than one email then the expanded version is basically no better than the unexpanded version. You still need to go from the notification screen to the Gmail inbox to see any of the message.
Seems a bit of a step backwards from the older version on Android.
Hey I found his nice app for displaying missed called, email and text message notifications on the lock screen somewhat like the iphone. It's setup as a live wall paper to show notifications in the background, that way you don't need to change our your original lockscreen.

I had major lag with this. Might need a 4.2 update before it runs right. Great app tho.

Same here. Too much lag to use.
Trying to figure out how to make the widget show on the main screen (under the clock) like in your image. Can't see a setting that does it... anyone else figure that out?

That's a screenshot of WidgetLocker, not the stock lockscreen.
It was working before the md4 update. I could delete from the pull down curtain. Now all I get is the notification without the delete /reply options. I have tried all different settings without success. I even uninstalled gmail, deleted data and cashe, reinstalled. No dice. I really liked to be able to delete without going to the app....

if there are any other notifications in the pulldown (including one's that can't be swiped away) the option doesn't show up... I stopped using ds battery saver for this reason

Hmmmm. The only other thing there is the green lookout icon. I'll try removing that and see if it changes.

You were right!
I went to lookout settings and turned off the icon. Now all works again.... I Never would have thought it was from lookout. I even sent them an email to alert them of that. They sent a reply in 5mins. Said it shouldn't do that....
Thanks again for helping!

It's not lookout, it's gmail, if there is already any kind of notification on there it doesn't give the expanded delete reply option...:thumbup::thumbup:

Again, it's not a lookout problem, is a gmail problem.. nothing lookout can do to fix this, it would have to be coded into the gmail app to allow it to display these options when there is other notifications

I think the gmail notification has two modes: minimized and full (with buttons).
The notification only shows the buttons when it's the "top" notification. Apps like lookout have persistent notifications, so the gmail notification is never top dog and therefore doesn't go into "full" mode.
I know in 4.2.2, the method I described allows you to expand minimized notifications. I do a medium-length press and hold, then drag the notification down to expand it. I'll try to capture a video of what I mean (never captured video on my phone before).
