[Q] GApps for Nitrous Rom! - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I flashed this Rom a few weeks ago and I love it. The only thing that makes me want to find a different one is none of my good stuff works. Meaning google search, gmail is a hit or miss and I cant use any of the speech setups.
So, I was hoping someone could lead me into the right direction of getting the GAPPS for my phone/Nitrous Rom. Thanx for your time and enjoy the rom, if u have it!

if im not mistaken, nitrous rom is a sense rom. so there is no need for a gapps file. its already baked into the rom. so if you flashed a gapps file when you flashed the nitrous rom then that may be why you are having issues

Noob in need of help...

Hi all, i have been searching for a while and cant seem to find my answer so hopefully someone can help. I have rescently rooted my HTC Desire and installed one of the roms off here (Psychosis 5.0) it has installed fine except i no longer have the android market on my phone, i am running 2.1 0.83. Can someone please tell me how to get it back?
Many thanks.
You can try to flash a stand alone new market or Gapps, but I think it's better to just flash a up to date rom.
Since Psychosis 5.0 is based of a old Leedroid rom I would suggest you install the newest Leedroid or find something else you like.
Ah ok pal, thanks for the help i will find a different rom
Any advice as to what rom to flash?
Depends on what you want, look around in development and this thread. See if anything there strikes your interest.
If you have no idea and what to stay as close to stock as possible but with the benefits of custom roms I would suggest to install Leedroid
If wanna have everything working and want to stay as close as to stock as said before than Leedroids ROM is the one for you.
If you like speed and no snick snack and no Sense, I want to suggest DeFrost 6.1a. See the rest Non-Sense ROM too.
If you like extra snick snack and the new Sense, try one of the DHD or Z ported ROM. I am currently using InsertCoin 1.8f.
If you are and advance user and like to experiment things, try one of the experimental Gingerbread (2.3) ROMs.
If you like to have something iPhone alike, try one of the MIUI.
Note:
For newbies, please stay away first from any Data2SD and Data2Whatever or any Gingerbread ROMs at the moment.
Stick with App2SD, learn more first!
I don't know how to get market back, but I also recommend Leedroid, AuraxTSense, or ReflexTSense. All good ROM's, in my opinion...

[Q] Help with Sense to ASOP ROM

I have searched the XDA site and the internet and I cannot find an answer. I am a newbie and I have been trying to find an answer for the last 3 days. Here is what I am trying to do:
I am looking to install a rooted Sense ROM on my Sprint HTC EVO. The phone is already rooted and I am running CM7. My question is, can I just flash a sense ROM coming from a AOSP ROM like CM7 or is there a different way I have to put a sense ROM on the phone?
Second part to my question: Do you reccomend a particular (Rooted)sense ROM?
Thanks in advance.

No different way..Just wipe data and cache. I'm using Eternal Prophecy and I like it...good battery life.
Yes. You can flash it just like any other rom Just put the zip on your sd card and go into recovery. Be sure to wipe everything. Even 2 or 3 times. I can't link it because im mobile but search for the vr superwipe. If coming from an aosp like you are you may have to apply the gps fix to get it working again. And as far as recommendations, I would go for Myn's twopointtwo or Koni's Elite III. If you want the look of stock without all the bloatware go for the Sprint lovers rom.

You probably didn't find a straight answer because you don't need to do anything special to flash from an AOSP ROM to a Sense ROM. Make a nandroid backup, wipe everything, and flash away.
Now your question about which Sense ROM to flash, I'm sure there's plenty of threads on that. The most stable Sense ROMs are still Froyo (2.2) w/Sense 1.0. But there's plenty of Gingerbread w/Sense 2.0 or 3.0 alphas and betas. If you don't want to be a tester I wouldn't mess with them. Just go to the Devolopment forum and pick a ROM with the most replies and most recent revision. That's how I started. That way you know you have an active developer and userbase.

Ready to flash. Which ROM should be #1?

Just finished unlocking, rooting and getting my GeNex all dialed.
After all that work (I had some trouble but managed to figure it out after several frustrating hours) I am definitely ready to reward myself with a new ROM.
From what I can tell there doesn't appear to be that many.
Any recommendations on a good one to start with?
My first instinct is to go with Android Revolution HD based on the amount of pages on that thread.
I would recommend either as you say ARHD or Modaco's custom ROM's there both good ROM's and well supported. I'd also suggest if you want OC/UV then use a custom Kernel with either ROM..
Personally Im using Modaco's ROM with Francos Kernel. Both can be found in the Dev section..
Happy flashing.
P.s make a Nandroid of your stock ROM incase you ever want to return to stock.
Thanks, mklass!
First thing I did when I got CWM on there was nandroid. Thanks for the info. I haven't seen the Modaco yet so I'll check that out for sure.
Any news or rumors on MIUI 4??

Stumped

Well I found the Destroyer V2 download links and flashed it. The only thing I need to figure out is if I can possibly flash the latest CM gapps with it, since Destroyer is based on CM. I know the OG Destroyer Rom you had to have specific gapps.
I have no market and am in need of help ASAP. Any info would be greatly appreciated much.
Thanks!
I would say yes. Gapps will have market and all other google stuff you need.
Edit = Looks like it will work. It is a themed cm7 rom.
The only way you will find out whether or not the latest gapps work will be to flash them yourself, or you could just flash the original Destroyer 2 gapps. Here are all the links you should need, and then maybe some.

Just remember to flash each item, then reboot the phone before flashing the next one, (ROM, reboot, gapps, reboot,...) or the phone will either get stuck or bootloop.

CM 9.1

Hi all,
I'm interested in trying out CM 9.1 seeing that theres a stable build out. I've never used AOSP based ROMS before, only TW simply because I rely on WiFi calling. However, I can overlook that seeing that (correct me if I'm wrong) CM 9.1 has amazing battery life and is rock solid. I'm not quite sure how to go about flashing it. I did a search and didn't find anything. Do I need GAAPS? & what is that ?
Some insight on this would highly be appreciated.
You flash as any other ROM. Coming from TW, clean flash is a must. GAPPS is a collection of google apps you will need to log into your account. Flash it after yiu flashed the ROM. Read up in the CM9 thread for all the info you need.

GAAPS is the google frameword that lets you get access to all the google related apps and sync. You don't need it but you won't get the google stuff.
I've been running CM9.1 for about 3 weeks now and I've been kicking myself for not doing it sooner. It's great, way better battery life and less issues than I had w/ the stock TW build.
