[Q] What do if your phone bootloops or crashes? - HTC One X

Normally if a phone bootloops/crashes you remove the battery. Seeing as this phone lacks the ability to do so, what do you do if your phone bootloops/crashes ?

If you press and hold the power button for 10 seconds it acts as if you pulled the battery

Volume Up + Volume Down + Power
3 finger salute works. Work made me attend a HTC training seminar the other day.

Desire stuck in bootloader mode

Hi, i wondered if someone here can help me with my htc desire, i purchased it like this by the way. When i insert the battery and power the device it goes straight into bootloader mode but im unable to select the options using the volume button, is there a way to exit this mode? or is it possible i can use the volume keys of the handsfree headset (i dont have) in case the phones volume buttons are faulty?
Here below is a pic ive taken:

Your input would be highly appreciated, thanks!
Have you removed battery and try booting up again?

hi, yes i have, as soon as i put the battery in and press power it automatically goes into bootloader mode without even holding the back key, which is puzzling..
Did you buy it from a shop? Take it back if so. Is there any movement in the volume buttons or ate they stuck down?

It could be that it has water damage and that is causing the volume down to be pressed by itself all the time..
i compared the volume buttons with a working desire and they feel exactly the same
Is this a new phone?
If so - return it.
This happened to my phone too, which was bought new. Looking around it does appear to be a hardware problem and needs to be sent back for repair/replacement.

How to reboot phone.

I have a T-Mobile G2 and just received the OTA Gingerbread update last night.
I don't know if its because of my phone or because of Gingerbread but I can't do the three finger salute (Power + Trackpad + Volume down) to restart my phone anymore.
Is there a new combination to restart the phone?
Restart your phone? When its off press the power button a few seconds.
Are you talking about booting into hboot? If so press volume(down) and power till the screen comes up.
If that's not what you mean you need to word your questions better

I don't know how I can reword my question any better.
But lets try.
Everything is stock and not rooted to avoid confusion.
Before Gingerbread update.
Pushing the Power button + Volume Down button + Trackpad button allowed me to do a soft reset of the phone.
Now with Gingerbread on my phone, that combination of keys doesn't work anymore.
Now I'm wondering if there is a different combination to achieve this task other than holding the power button and turning phone off and on.
Volume down, camera, and power. Reboot system.

That didn't work.
Did you try Vol up instead of Vol Down ? Normally anyone of the combinations should work(not only reboot, but anything like usb-mode or so)

[Q] Alternate Power Up Method?

My power button has been unresponsive more and more. This morning my battery fell out and the power button is not working yet again. I took it apart and the button seems to function properly but it is unresponsive for some reason. The phone works fine other than the power button issue. I'm wondering if there is a different way to power up my phone other than the power button.
Thanks
Some custom roms will power on the device when you plug in the charger. There's also roms that'll let you wake the screen with the volume buttons (may even be an app for that). Sorry I can't name specific roms...I just can't remember which ones do it.

If the power button isn't working properly, take it back in to Sprint. It's under warranty.

Wake with volume keys?

Anyway to get the phone to wake with these? So they can share the load so the power button doesn't get worn out.

Dhd power button was still fine after 18 months of use.
There are a lot more important things to worry about than this!

i would like the volume buttons to wake the phone because it feels more natural to me. hope something shows up
That would be really nice. Feels more natural and I wouldn't have to stretch my fingers.
great option would be to fiddle with volume rocker ...
i would love to keep volume rocker as it is but add an option to wake the screen up if pressed simultaneously. Let's wait for devs

HTC ONE X Resets - Please Help

Hey. I have a big problem with my HTC ONE X. When I put it in my pocket it restarts because if you press the power button for over 5 seconds it hard resets. I read somewhere else that the combo for hard reset is the volume and power button. Is this true? If yes why my HTC ONE X resets only with the power button? Can I change it somewhere? Is very annoying because every time I put the phone in my pocket then next time I will unlock the phone it will request my SIM unlock code. Soooo annoying.
Thanks
Long pressing the power button forces the phone to abnormally restart, and the combo takes the phone to bootloader mode.

Oh there is nothing to do about it Just keep it always in my hand I guess.
Press the power button for 10 secs, the phone will have a force restart, which is helpful when it freezes. You can use a cover which makes the power button harder to reach, so it doesnt get pressed when in your pocket.

If you want to keep it in your pocket, make sure the power button faces up

It is a solution, when you don't have a silicone case as I did, and has the same problem. When I was sit at my ofiice, or car, the power button was pushed, and surprise...restart!!!
I like HOX, but I don't like where they've put the power button!!!
abnormal reset
hiya guys
how about when the handset has not been sitting in your pocket and has been on charge in a location where there has been no chance of the powere button being interfered with, just happened to me 5 mins ago.
cheers
