[Q] Battery ran out so fast - Sony Arc S - Rom ICS - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I charged my phone fully before going to sleep and in the morning, I couldn't turn on my phone. When I plugged in, my phone started up with 1% of battery

Some information:
- I had rooted my phone last night
- I use GreenPower Premium (Data/Wifi off at night)
Can anybody finger out the problem's root?
Thank you.

Which rom and kernel you using mate?
I have an Arc S, Stock ICS .562, cobrato kernel (based on stock) with Green Power Premium (set at 1m on, 1h off in night mode).
Battery life is amazing. It drains only 3% in 8 hours.
You probably have the wrong kernel or another app which is draining your battery.

Reply
my phone is Arc S, Stock ICS .562
Actually everything was great until last night when I installed some google apps (Currents, Finance, reader...) and some others (WifiFix manager, twitter, media remote (sony)).... And I set Greenpower Premium to allow Dropbox to keep active wifi connection.

Don't be alarmed yet.
Some software might be causing that drain.
Now your phone has rebooted and it could be that battery life is back to normal.
If not check what is using your batt.

Solved
Thank guys, last night i switched off Sync option (System and GreenPower) and the problem was disappeared.

it's not meant to. Your phone has gone to sleep, so the screen has switched off.
You can override this, but you'll haemorrhage battery power unless you leave your phone connected to the mains.
Regards,
Dave
If you always charge your phone at night anyway then you can go to menu > settings > applications > development and tick the box to stay awake while charging.
The other option is to use an app that lets you set the screen time out to never. I use this and the night clock while not charging, yes it uses the battery up but I am not convinced about leaving it on change every night all night.
100% charge
after 6.5 hours
68% charge while in airplane mode and the night clock on
82% of that was Android and the other 18% was the screen.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the great tip. As a Noob to Android and to the Desire (as of last Thursday), the tips are fantastic.
I also have to say that I like this idea of a night clock because it was 1 feature from my Treo Pro that I liked. I like to be able to check the time on the Desire without having to wake it up all the time.
BTW, I have to say that after having my Desire for 3 days now, I have to say that I don't miss my Treo Pro or WinMo. I am totally in love with the Desire and Froyo 2.2 (which was shipped with my Desire).
Once again thanks for all the great tips.

[Q] viper rom draining battary

I been using viper rom for a while now but the rom is eating my battary up. i loose 10% in 5 minutes of browsing or listening to music. Best rom out in my opinion but the battary drainage is becoming an issue. I wiped battary stats and recharged while phone is off and problem persist. i lowered clock speeds and adjusted profiles while screen is off but helped very little.
any suggestions?

Might be a specific app or something. Post a screenshot of your battery graph
I'm not experiencing unexpected battery drain on Viper. I'm betting you have an app or setting wreaking havoc. Did you restore Apps and App data from TB? That could be a cause. It could also be an App that's not playing nice with the ROM. Run some battery and cpu apps that may help you nail the rogue down. You could also try a full wipe and re-flash, then install your apps fresh from the market. Appbak from the market can help make this process easier.
I have used TB to restore apps...i would hate to reflash and restore apps the long way but so far this is the best rom out. thanks!

Im running viperrom as well and it actually seems like my battery lasts forever but its just reporting wrong. the other night I got LOS around 50% and when I rebooted the phone it came back on at 9%, today same thing happened, was above 70, rebooted and was in the 40's... but then once it finally does die, charge it for a few minutes and then turn it back on and it magically charged 70% in a few minutes, check this battery graph out...
I need to figure out why my awake time was so much greater than the screen-on time... I did stream pandora but that was less than an hour and it is only shown as 4% of the battery usage.
(taken with the netbooks webcam is why the pictures are so great...)

Wakelock, better battery help

So I feel like since I rooted my phone and installed nova my batter drains more...and I'm really new to all this stuff and I don't understand what any of this means:

That's not normal. Whatever wakelock is keeping it awake is not captured in your WLD screenshot. Track it down in better battery stats instead, using "partial wakelocks"
Thank you...that's what I thought... I don't know what happened...so I went into partial wakelocks and everything looks like low %... But kernel wakelocks there was a lot of high percentages...
First thing that sticks out is drop box. It shouldnt be running for that long. Did you turn on auto backup? This will cause huge drains. If turned on turn it off. Also check in service running for 21 minutes... Turn off your gps. This is Google now constantly running and locating you to try and provide you with what it thinks is useful cards (weather, traffic, food in your area) I only then on my gps when I'm gonna use navigation. Otherwise all apps with gps access will start to run and kill your battery. Also I suggest greenify. It'll help a lot with things like Facebook, Twitter, Google search, ect. Wakelocks. Also removing or freezing bloatware helps tremendously with battery drain. And last carrier iq. Something that always runs in the background. Google search it or read up in the battery threads here on XDA. They talk about it a lot and how to try and stop it. Also this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2816353
although for the SGS5 it can be applied to our device as well

also your font looks distorted, i would return the phone! ?

Battery Drain on Tab Pro

Hey! I am back again.....looks like I have a lot problems......anyway,
I have a Massive battery prob....
So I brought my device badk to firmware after a lot of abusing of my device......but then, this happened (i changed to a different rom to stop the same battery problem but it wasnt any good) its not wakelock, like when the device is locked, no battery is wasted but when the screen is turned on and i do light activities like google translate, youtube, it drains SUPER FAST! Like for watching a 10 min video on youtube, it took away 3% of battery! I have also enabled power saving, have kind of a decent brightness and the wifi sleep thingybis set to never keep on. So I really need help with that.

Hmm, i guess you have checket others battery drain apps etc, i dont use facebook and messenger on mine..
You can try a full reset on it sometimes that helps. (Iknow it sucks to set it up again)

Screen using power when turned off

I've got all gestures and everything else I can think of off, I even disabled "Prevent accidental touches" yet it's still draining the battery fairly considerably
Any ideas?

If your phone is rooted, check your deep sleep time in a kernel manager like mtweaks or ex. If it doesn't go into deep sleep, there's probably a app preventing it. You can probably find it under the battery usage in your settings. If you can't find it try DS battery saver, if that resolves your issue, it's probably an app keeping your phone awake. It also could be the AoD thats keeping it awake, I only know about this problem in custom roms, and I don't encounter it on my phone on OneUI, but this could be an issue aswell.

Not rooted unfortunately, shame they limited access to app usage, I mean even Android battery status has more info
Deep sleep seeems to work, battery drain in the morning is fine, this is through the day
Bit of an update for anyone wanting to see actual app stats, "Accubatttery" still works fine
