[Q] viper rom draining battary - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I been using viper rom for a while now but the rom is eating my battary up. i loose 10% in 5 minutes of browsing or listening to music. Best rom out in my opinion but the battary drainage is becoming an issue. I wiped battary stats and recharged while phone is off and problem persist. i lowered clock speeds and adjusted profiles while screen is off but helped very little.
any suggestions?

Might be a specific app or something. Post a screenshot of your battery graph

I'm not experiencing unexpected battery drain on Viper. I'm betting you have an app or setting wreaking havoc. Did you restore Apps and App data from TB? That could be a cause. It could also be an App that's not playing nice with the ROM. Run some battery and cpu apps that may help you nail the rogue down. You could also try a full wipe and re-flash, then install your apps fresh from the market. Appbak from the market can help make this process easier.

I have used TB to restore apps...i would hate to reflash and restore apps the long way but so far this is the best rom out. thanks!

Im running viperrom as well and it actually seems like my battery lasts forever but its just reporting wrong. the other night I got LOS around 50% and when I rebooted the phone it came back on at 9%, today same thing happened, was above 70, rebooted and was in the 40's... but then once it finally does die, charge it for a few minutes and then turn it back on and it magically charged 70% in a few minutes, check this battery graph out...
I need to figure out why my awake time was so much greater than the screen-on time... I did stream pandora but that was less than an hour and it is only shown as 4% of the battery usage.
(taken with the netbooks webcam is why the pictures are so great...)

Do you think this is about right?

Hi guys. I'm a bit concerned about battery life, I'm not sure whether I'm on the average or the battery drain crowd.

What do you guys think? Reasonable power consumption as it is? Sent a few texts, went on internet (3G) a few times and made a couple of short calls.

I think that's alright. I normally get home from work after about 12hrs on battery at about 75-80% with some light browsing, sms and a few calls made.
If I'm completely on standby I lose around 1% per hour!
Cheers 00droid! On standby I loose very little too so I guess it's doing alright!
Wow that's so much better than mine...I'm just about to flash that kernel so will see how it goes tomorrow.
By the way, what are your settings with regards to wifi/data/screen brightness/syncing etc? Wondering if those could be impacting so drastically on my battery life...
EDIT: Just had a look at mine now, and Display is 72% usage - I've had it on auto - should I just turn it down to a very low brightness? Also, I've been on "All Animations" - will reducing this to "Some Animations" increase it somewhat?
I'm using some animations, screen brightness I've got it set at about 35% which is plenty for me and I turn wifi off unless I'm at home surfing on the net. I've also got a few hours between weather updating, then facebook, twitter and all other syncs I do manually when I open the program
I'm doing much better with my battery today turns out I had everything set to drain as much battery as possible - after 6hours of sending a few texts and downloading a couple of apps, but mostly standby, I'm on 93% - best I've ever got
@kharekatoh do you have mobile data on all the time?

Yup it's on constantly unless wifi is turned on
8 Hours is pretty bad... must be some app sucking all the power maybe

[Q] Battery Issues - Froyo on Defy

Spent untold hours trying to figure this battery drain issue out ...
Before Froyo (stock T-Mobile) update, would lose about 5% battery overnight. No widgets running, but Exchange e-mail, bloat freezer to turn off some stock apps, but no undervolting or other tricks.
After the Froyo update, would lose 20% battery overnight, and an hour phone conversation would take down 30% of my battery. Tried undervolting, checked battery users (only report is phone standby), and even installed Cyanogen (same exact battery consumption).
Could it be the T-Mobile radio eating my battery? Saw other anecdotal evidence of this issue in other posts, but nothing clear and definitely no real solutions.
Try 'USB Debugging - ON', switch sometimes 3g/2g/auto, reset battery stats,
Take a look at software - Power Tutor, Wathcdog, and so on.
I have 6-4% per night with wifi off, and 3g on.
Barebones 1.5.1 ROM (177 sbf)
Here is my usage graph, 2h per 1% at night

Good points
Thanks for the suggestions. I did reset the battery stats already, that didn't help either. Trying out Juice Defender now ... maybe something connecting too frequently (even though Android power settings set to night time saver).
Even with ...
Juice Defender running with agressive settings (airplane mode between midnight and six AM) still lost 20% power overnight.
Graph shows losing 10% between midnight and 1AM and 10% between six and seven AM. Hmmm. Thoughts?
Get a bugreport from your phone, all the info you can find is there. Just be aware it may contain your private info (messages, phone numbers, etc) if you post the file online.
Look at the kernel log, and the battery logs. You may find some clue there.

[Q] missing processes for battery usage

Hey guys, very new to the note 2 here and after I charge to full I only get a few items showing up when I go to
Check battery usage. Gsam shows everything fine but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on this. It has happened on both Clean Rom and SkyNote. The last time it only showed screen and idle. I wiped and reflashed but it still happens.

It wipes it all when it's fully charged. Try running it down to like 60 or so and see if any other apps show up. My guess is that they are just taking up less that 1% battery over the 3 minutes

Alright I'll let it run down, but it's weird cuz android OS and System are never below 1%, they're usually always there. On Gsam they are showing up. Xda app is there too at 13%

Alright so I found a few threads with the same issue of different roms/phones unfortunately no posted resolution.
Tried wiping caches fixing permissions, uninstalling apps, reflashing the kernel. Nothing had worked until I reset Perseus kernel to default settings and rebooted. Soon as the phone came back I was able to see 8 or so processes and apps were now there like usual.
My settings are back to how I had it before all this started so we will see if it happens again

@ speghead, Yikes, I just lost all items in my battery usage screen except the main graph and hope I don't have to bomb my phone back as far as you did. Will try full drain and full charge first. What other threads did you find for this issue?
Edit:
D'oh! The per-application battery stats came back at the next full charge. On thing that can throw this off is that some battery meters report 100% at a point when the android system does not yet consider it full and if you stop charging at that point the stats may not refresh.

Not charging as quickly as used to since Cyanogenmod 11 Nightly flash

Hello,
Not sure if I am supposed to (allowed to?) ask for help or troubleshooting on Nightlies. ^_^' So sorry if I am doing something wrong. I'm fairly new and have only really helped a couple of people fix stuff here on XDA.
I have an LG Optimus G pro e980 running cm-11-20140425-NIGHTLY which is Android 4.4.2 KitKat. When I flashed it I factory reset, cleared cache, cleared dalvik cache, and flashed the ROM and flashed Gapps. When the ROM booted up I didn't do a second factory reset, don't know if this is bad. Here is the tutorial I followed. http://true-android.blogspot.com/2013/12/update-lg-optimus-g-pro-e980-to-android_10.html I still have excellent battery life, it just doesn't charge as quickly as it used to. I think the battery life is actually better with Cyanogen.
I was having terrible battery life but it was because I had setCPU holding the CPU at 1.7ghz constantly, and CleanMaster wouldn't allow the phone to deep sleep. I can deep sleep now and have resolved all battery drainage issues.
Here's screens of CPU

On stock ROM I could 100% the phone in 45 minutes to an hour from like 20-30% range. it would take only a few minutes when I was around 85%. It charged ridiculously fast and I loved it. Now on Cyanogenmod it takes 6-8+ hours to charge. I find myself tied to a charger all day now. Sometimes when I put it on the charger at night and wake up it'll only be at like 94%. I did some research and I think it might be the kernel changing the voltage regulator's amperage limit. I don't know if this is the issue, or how to go about fixing it. I haven't flashed a kernel myself (at least I don't think so). Kernels are new to me. Perhaps there is an app to change the voltage regulator's setting, or a different kernel? or maybe it's just a problem with the Nightly and it will be resolved eventually? Seriously this is almost enough to make me go to the stock ROM again, lolxd.
Also, I get the message every few minutes "Unfortunately, Google+ has stopped responding". Could be this be because I didn't do the second factory reset?
Thanks, the best.

I did a clean install and it is still charging much slower than it was on the stock ROM. The "Unfortunately, Google+ has stopped" error is gone though. That's good. ^_^ Think it's just because KitKat draws in too many system resources? Then again my battery life is still great as far as I can tell... Hmm...
working
Thought I would update on this. It's working now.
Thanks for the advice on flashing again as that solved a lot of problems i was having.
It seems to have sorted itself out over time, though. It's charging just as quickly as ever now. (If not faster than ever). It probably just needed a few charge/discharge cycles for the new ROM to adjust to the battery capacity. Thanks for the help, though. ^^

Wakelock, better battery help

So I feel like since I rooted my phone and installed nova my batter drains more...and I'm really new to all this stuff and I don't understand what any of this means:

That's not normal. Whatever wakelock is keeping it awake is not captured in your WLD screenshot. Track it down in better battery stats instead, using "partial wakelocks"
Thank you...that's what I thought... I don't know what happened...so I went into partial wakelocks and everything looks like low %... But kernel wakelocks there was a lot of high percentages...
First thing that sticks out is drop box. It shouldnt be running for that long. Did you turn on auto backup? This will cause huge drains. If turned on turn it off. Also check in service running for 21 minutes... Turn off your gps. This is Google now constantly running and locating you to try and provide you with what it thinks is useful cards (weather, traffic, food in your area) I only then on my gps when I'm gonna use navigation. Otherwise all apps with gps access will start to run and kill your battery. Also I suggest greenify. It'll help a lot with things like Facebook, Twitter, Google search, ect. Wakelocks. Also removing or freezing bloatware helps tremendously with battery drain. And last carrier iq. Something that always runs in the background. Google search it or read up in the battery threads here on XDA. They talk about it a lot and how to try and stop it. Also this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2816353
although for the SGS5 it can be applied to our device as well
