ROM:
That depends on what Android version you want to use.
GB: Arconium 8.2
ICS: Arconium ICS v1, KA15 Ice cream Sony, JJ's AOSP ROM, ICElite
Kernel:
The kernel is something that you choose based on your usage pattern.
If you want extreme tweaking capabilities, then DoomKernel - whether ICS or GB version - is for you.
If you just want a Stock experience, then SONY's Stock Kernel ought to do the job.
If you want a stock Kernel with select customisability, then go for DoomLord's Advanced Stock Kernel. I use this personally as I found this to give good performance/battery life/gaming stability.
Basebands:
The most powersaving basebands are -36 and -64.
Thankfully, iridaki has put up a post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382657

Official Sony ICS 4.1.A.0.562 NCB Generic + ROOT
i use now
super great save battery.
sleep mode 6 hour at last night.....battery down 5%
---------- Post added at 08:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:14 PM ----------

Sent from my LT26i using xda premium

Bb70, arconium 8.2, doomkernel 22, setxperia (smartassv2, noop, undervolt by 100)
The phone has no lag. Deep sleep 2% for 8hrs.

I m using doomkernel v18, BB 70, Xperia S V6 on my Arc S.. Crazy better life, and I have tried most probably all the Roms and combination out there! This is the best combination I have come across.

Arconium, doom, bb 70 works great.

Best ROM for ARC S

Thank you..
Arconium 7.1

Acronium 7.1
Its the best ROM I have used for ARC, I have ARC not ARC S, still its smooth and best GB ROM
But which one?
I guess he wants to know the name of the ROM
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
i am using Acronium 7.1 , Battery drains very quickly,
I use data 2G all time.
Same here...now using arconium 7.2 w/ doomkernel v19 baseband 58...drains batt quickly T_T
I tried them all,ics beta,team,arconium,miui etc.
Stock rom .62 with root/removed bloatware/doom v19 is still for me the best.
A bit undervolting and stockspeeds [ 1.4 Ghz Arc s ]
All other roms draining with 3g.
No issues with wathever, good batterylife etc etc.
I'm using the ROM of SE.Tweaked (v1.0), works fine and smooth. No issues and good battery life, much better than the original rom.

Arconium 7.2 is simply a beautiful rom for arc/arc s.
For the people with battery problem..flash the stock .283 kernel along with .36/.64 baseband.
With this config,i need to charge my phone for once in two days [full charge]
I alsoi have superchargerV6 and link2sd for lag-free performance and free internal memory
Disadvantages:
This kernel doesnt support overclocking/undervolting and many other features which doomkernel possesses
I think there's a DooMKernel on .283

Yes it does.. v11
But i haven't tried that.
Seconded stock with doomkernel is best for me. Don’t see any differences between stock, arconium or se tweaked so dont see the point of them. As for the other roms something always seems to be broken or other problems such as battery drain issues and other bugs.

arc s with ICS is SLOW

hello,
I have Xperia Arc S stok ics 4.0.4 , Kernel 2.6.32.9 -perf , build 4.1.b.0.431
My question is why the phone is So slowly????
I thought that ICS should speed up the phone....
I can do anything about it?
thanks
use arconium ics 3.c with arcknight kernel
its fast and stable for me
i believe the stock firmware you are using is bloated with useless app and isn't optimized like what devs used on their custom roms

mate i am using 4.0.4 right now and it is as smooth as gb .64 if not faster. i notice my live wallpaper is much smoother too, but it might have to do with the software rendering enabled on arconium 3.c
apps and games compatibility can be a problem, but cmon im sure the devs will update their apps for ics too.
the only app i had problem with was temple run. touches didnt respond well, i swiped and it jumped instead. its a boring game anyways
EDIT: you can overclock your phone using setcpu after installing your new rom to get more performance
old setcpu: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
for your reference, this is my setup
Model: LT15 Xperia Arc
Rom: Arconium 3.c with Barebone Install
Kernel: ArcKnight Kernel RC2
SetCPU 3.0.5
Governer - OnDemand
Scheduler - sio (Stock: Noop?)
Min Freq. Clock: 134Mhz (Stock: 25xMhz)
Max Freq. Clock: 1.4Ghz (Stock: 1Ghz)

Sent from my LT18i using xda app-developers app
I tryed many kernels, Im almost sure that Sega kernel is the best for gamming and battery life, also you can try the "advanced stock kernel" (stock kernel with CWM)
try trinity kernel or arcknight kernel 3.3. depending on the governor you use it can make a huge difference.

The problem is that Sega kernel maybe doesn't work good together with the current ROM that's installed on the phone and that will lower your chances to getting good performance / battery life..

stock kernel give longer battery life, is that right everyone?
Yes, stock kernel is the best for battery

Is it possible to have GB's system and ICS/JB's UI?
Coz i think the most impressive thing of ICS is its UI.

I just rooted my Arc S this weekend after having it for a week. I've already instaleed two roms!
I'm using Sparta Charge (ICS) with advanced stock rom and I find it to be very stable and very fast.
Best thing to do is just try a few and see what suits you and your phone! happy flashing! :good:
bu t i looking to try JB i really like aokp (aosp) style..i already thought to change for a nexus because of that...but our developers are sooo damn good
best combination i have tested is :
for GB : arconium 8.2 + doomkernelv22
for ICS : xperia ultimate HD 1.0 + advanced stock kernel
great performance and battery life
test it :good:

[Q] i flashed Advanced Stock Kernel, can i OC my Arc now?

Hello, i've Flashed Advanced Stock kernel .587 on my Arc, then installed Sparta Charge ROM and tried to OC my device a little but i cant find a way to do this. I used X-Gamer Rom + DooMKernel before, and i could OC with no problem using CPU master by AnTuTu.
i dont know if there is a problem with the Kernel Itself, or this is just incapable of OC. maybe my LT15i is not compatible with this Kernel, idk.
I tried to find a related post, but i couldnt find it.
Thanks
Find out if your kernel supports OC.
