Franco kernel. How do I update to 4.0.4 IMM76I - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I received a notification for the update to 4.0.4 IMM76I and accepted. My phone downloaded the update, rebooted, and started to install the update. However, about 1/2 way through the update, the Android changed from updating animation to having a large explanation mark on it. Nothing happened for 10 minutes, so I removed the battery and hard reset the phone.
I'm using Franco Kernel on the phone. Can anyone help me understand why the update didn't finish? Is this because I'm not using a stock kernel? Will I receive the update through the Franco kernel?
Please help! I'm still battling the signal loss issue and can't fix it! Thanks

The update did not finish. You need to be running a stock IMM76D kernel.
I've posted both an image you can flash in fastboot, and an image that you can flash in CWM. Flash one of those first, then install the update.

Worked! Thank you!
Worked like a charm. I'm now running the latest build. Thank you so much. Hopefully this will finally solve the lost signal issue I've been experiencing.

Let me have a try on your cwm-IMM76-boot-zip, thank you very much

It was the radio!!
Well, I was able to upgrade to the IMM76I build, and the signal lost issue did not go away. Then, I realized I was still using an XXKK1 radio, which didn't seem right. So I flashed UGLA4 radio and haven't had a signal drop in over 24 hours.
Yah!!!! Thanks.

can someone post or PM me the IMM76I stock kernel?
i want to flash AOKP milestone 5 but it uses Faux's kernel
i dont like his battery life, i want the stock google kernel
thanks

Download the IMM76I factory image from here, pull out the boot.img file and flash it in fastboot mode.

Is there anywhere I can find the zip so I can flash in clockwork recovery?

If you are too lazy to use fastboot, you can try the attachment. I just whipped this up myself right now. I haven't tested it, but it should work.

Thanks I'll give it a shot. How come other people don't like the stock kernel? Its got so much better battery life.

How to get back to stock kernel ?

Ok, I may sound stupid here but bear with me. I love my phone on stock because I believe that's how Google want us to use the phone. The only thing custom on my phone is faux kernel which I used to connect to OTG NTFS drive.
But my experience with faux kernel is not that great. The question is: Do you know where I can find a flashable or fastboot-able version of stock GSM 4.0.2 kernel ? I searched up and down the forum and couldn't find it. If you can tell me how to extract is from Google stock image then it will be even better.
Thank
Faux has a zip file that resets your kernel back to what it is in the Rom you flash.....its located in his thread in the development section, the same one with his kernel

nice work! I love it!
Nice....
One question though...
I have franco kernel and different radio flashed on my GN, so if I would recover this image would I get stock kernel and radio which is stated in post?
YES
Hey thanks,
is it gonna get OTAs?
yes but i think you will have to lock bootloader tho for official updates,,,fastboot oem lock
Is this the official updated with the GSM fix or something else?
image files from google source its the official one
thanks for posting this. the CMW backup includes a radio image? what version of CWM is included? i was under the impression that CWM DOES NOT backup radio images. i already have the same radio and prefer not to flash it again. thanks.
Thanks it will be really useful!

You shouldn't have to re-lock the bootloader for OTAs.
hi,
I have a problem with this rom (i also already put Franco latest stable kernel on it) regarding Facebook app.
Text and messages are transparent, the only thing i can see is pics of my contacs. Any text is missing.
Do you have any ideas how i could fix it?

I got OTA update with root & unlocked bootloader, but it failed to apply because of some asserts in the script that checked MD5 hash of certain files incl build.prop, and I'd made some tweaks. So YES to OTA.
The best ROM around here so far !!!!!!!!
Hi, may i know how can i root this rom? i download and restore the 2nd one already. but still show no rooted access. I try GNex toolkit and Easiest Root Toolkit both fail to root it.
Thanks.

Erf, stock kernel didnt fix the problem, looks like it's a imm76I problem :/
I'm reseting it right now to see (dalvik, wipe and cache.)
After full reset, problem still here. So i think it's a firmware related bug :/
I flashed the pre rooted one. But it says I don't have root. How do I fix this?

[Q] New Bootloader

Hi guys,
I have looked at numerous threads and just can't find exactly what I need or maybe I'm too dumb/too much of a noob to understand what I need, I am on CM10.1 nightlies with CWM and I can no longer flash the nightlies. It gives me assert fail messages. After some digging, I think the problem is that I need to update the bootloader as they no longer support the ICS bootloader (I am assuming I am on ICS bootloader, how would I know?). But then I couldn't find the latest bootloader and how to install it. Is that even the problem? Any help is appreciated or even if you can point me to the right thread, that would be awesome. Thanks for the help.

I'm not 100% sure what the problem is, but I'll take you through step-by-step of what I'd do if my phone were giving me this problem.
Double check the md5sums of the CM10.1 Nightly Zip: It doesn't seem like this is the problem, but it's always the first thing I check.
Update your modem/firmware/baseband: I know the most recent build of LiquidSmooth require you to be on baseband MD4. You can get it over on Freeza's thread. The file you're looking for is:
MD4 Firmware:
MD4 Firmware/modem/baseband update

All you have to do is wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash this Rom in your recovery. Reboot and now you're on MD4.
Update your Recovery: I normally run the latest and greatest TWRP, but others like the stability of some of the older builds. I'd flash the latest 2.5.0.0 TWRP from Naddict's thread.
Those would be the first three things I'd try.

Yes that most definitely was his problem, the new cm10.1 nightlies require the md4 firmware update because of the bootloader.

Stock kernel/Odin issue

Alright, so I'm trying to reflash the stock kernel for my stock, rooted, Sprint 4.2.1 Galaxy Nexus(the GA02 kernel). I managed to get the .tar file from Samsung's site but ODIN keeps on closing on my PC when it gets to 'file analysis'. I have my phone connected, and everything is recognized and ready to go, but the program keeps freezing at that point. So, does anyone have a link for a flashable zip for the kernel? Or can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong with ODIN? Thanks in advance.

I just so happened to be looking for a stock kernel as I was going to start playing around with them. I haven't yet tested it. Thanks for the heads up. The only thing left to do is wipe and backup for stock kernel.
Why don't you extract boot.img from the corresponding factory image (available here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mysidspr; variant 'toroplus'), and flash that through fastboot? I don't understand why some make no effort to use the tools GOOGLE gave us. For most purposes, you're the proud owner of a Nexus device.

Help me fix my pixel and it's wifi?

So I formatted both slots in TWRP one time and rebooted into bootloader and proceeded to flash all.bat my nmf26U which I believe is the latest Verizon rendition or am I wrong? Well after that boots then I proceed to wipe n flash pure Nexus ROM and my problem is everything is flawless except the wifi the wifi works good for like a minute but then the performance drops significantly. Now I'm not sure if the baseband is wrong or I need to update radio or I'm going about it all wrong flashing updated radios and basebands with pure Nexus. Isn't it the same thing if I flash all.bat nmf26u then just wipe and flash the ROM doesn't that give me updated radios? Some insight would really be appreciated as I have no idea how this pixel works exactly. How can I make a good starting point again for reflashing, flash nmf26q to both slots? Then take it from there? Sorry for the wall of text

NMF26V is the Verizon vendor image. If you flashed the other that's probably why your radios aren't working. You also didn't need to flash the factory image to update everything but since you flashed the wrong one you should probably get the correct factory image and make sure you flash it just in case.
OK so right now I flashed nmf26q I didn't download the v one because it says Europe on it and on Verizon's website it says nmf26u is the latest update...
Attached screenshot...V is the latest for Verizon?
Also what all do I exactly need to update since I'm running pure nexus right now and how do I go about just flashing only what I need

Pure Nexus uses the V vendor.
I don't know how much it matters but I'm running the v image right now on Verizon and everything is fine. On pure Nexus I had to use the v image to get the radios to even work.
Its really weird because I used the U image and the radios freak out really bad like WiFi messes up something fierce, like something weird happens with the WiFi ping. so I went back to the Q image and bootloader and radios etc then reflashed back to pure nexus and all seems OK except for an unusually high battery drain it feels like. Debating flashing elemental x kernel.
