HTC One X crashing & restarting on YouTube video - HTC One X

Greetings everyone,
I've searched and searched and couldn't find a result, so I will go ahead and explain what happened step by step.
I had the 1.26
I rooted my One X
After rooting I managed to somehow upgrade to 1.28
Obviously after upgrading SU isnt working & I get an endeavoru error every time I restart the device, so I disabled SU, however I still get the error.
Basically my phone has the SU files in system/xbin and superuser.apk in system/app and I can't delete them.
Whenever I try to open a YouTube video, my HTC One X crashes and restarts, is this connected the the whole upgrading while rooted situation? I tried everything I could think of but nothing worked.
I also cannot uninstall youtube from my phone and reinstall it.
I'm complete lost at what needs to be done here, so if anyone is aware of how to resolve this issue then your assistance is very much appreciated.

It seems no matter what I try to do this issue is still there..
I just spent the last 6 hours trying to find a solution but no matter what I tried I couldn't make it work again.
Is there anyway I can return to stock and remove the root as well? I tried the standard unrooting method but it didn't work.
Any help is appreciated..

I have exactly the same problem, did you manage to solve it?

I solved the issue.
I tried this step and solved this issue.
1.relock
2.run RUU(1.26)
3.unlock
4.update to 1.28
5.trouble was solved

Another possibility is to:
1. RUU 1.28 directly
2. Re-root
Worked for me.

This is probably a NOOB question and I'll more the likely get "flammed" but how do you tell RUU to use? I'm coming from Samsung's so I've never had to deal with doing the RUU's and what not. Thanks in advance

I had the same problem when i've updated to 1.28.The solution is simple, reinstall the 1.28 and reflash the SuperSU.That is how i done it and so far i haven't had any problems with it.

Dear Expert,
I updated to 1.28 and then rooted my HTC 1-X. After that I have the same problem of rebooting everytime when playing video or music. I can't downgrade and I can't find the way to download 1.28 so as to reinstall it. Appreciate if you can elaborate how to reinstall 1.28.
Thx,
Derek

Try looking for your ROM here....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604 if you notice carefully they are all .exe files download the exact one which matches your device firmware. Lock the bootloader(IF you have unlocked it) in the following manner
1. make sure you have at least 40-50% battery left
2. shutdown phone
3. boot into fastboot using vol- & power
6. enter fastboot, connect usb cable
7. type "fastboot oem lock"(without the qoutes)
7. will reboot back into fastboot
then run the .exe file that you downloaded before as an administrator.

Flashing boot.img fix for forced restart
I had the same restart issue with my one x when attempting to open any audio or video file following the 1.29 update.
The fix i found was to flash the boot.img file via fastboot, clear cache and reboot.

I don't know when YouTube decided to poo the bed, but I renamed YouTube.apk in system/apps to YouTube.apk.bak, restarted and I was able to reinstall the signed black apk.

I haven't updated signature to reflect that I have rooted my one x, but it is. Also,it is the at&t one x.

How to Unroot/go back to STOCK after installing Rooted versions of 1.47/2.05

Pretty sure most people know how to do this but for some who are having issues with drivers n such this might help, wouldn't hurt imo.. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate (x86)
*** Reportedly Will not work with Official OTA 1.47/2.05 Updates, only Rooted updates, I have not personally tried. The Wizards @ the dev forums are working on a fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714157 ***
The steps below worked for me. I had the latest clockwork recovery,Damage Control DC 3.2.2.1 deodexed and The latest rooted ota updates installed (EVO_1.47.651.1_De-odex'd_Rooted.zip, 2.05.00.06.10 update.zip)
Download and install HTC Sync Update http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo-sprint/downloads/ (if you already have it installed then click the repair option,
or better yet uninstall your current one even if it is the same one, reboot your computer and then install this one again, for good measure.)
1. I unplugged/plugged my phone into the computer a couple times, switched to htc sync mode when it asks what type of usb connection I wanted, to install more driver updates if any
and did 2 reboots on my computer to get all the drivers updated/installed and working as they should.
2. Turn off the phone, hold volume down and hold down power button to get to bootloader,
pressed Power button one more time to get to the menu where you can reboot bootloader,
rebooted bootloader once and twice BEFORE the unrooting process for good measure.
3. Download either one of the RUU Stock Roms, I would try RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe and then RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459.exe if the first one fails.
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
Alternate Link http://tinyurl.com/2fq4dzk
4. Plug your phone into your computer, make sure ALL Drivers installed properly if any, you may already have drivers installed, but double check, switch to HTC Sync mode
and let it install any drivers, then turn off your phone and start it in bootloader (Hold Volume Down +Power button) Reboot your computer also
to make sure everything has been properly installed.
5. Then you can finally double click (right click run as admin imo) the RUU.exe and start the unrooting process, good luck!
I try it and it don't work. I mean yet it detect my ota version but after I click update than for a while it said that my phone is not plug from the computer. I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64bit, eva x58 core i7-920
Thanks for the write-up, does this take the phone completely back to out-of-the-box stock?

Make sure your in HTC Sync mode or Disk Drive Mode on your phone, also try rebooting your computer & phone, plugging your phone into a different usb port, etc, have to tinker with it a bit.

do you have to have either 1.47 or 2.05 to use this method, or will the rooted supersonic 1.32.651.1 be able to do it?
because I installed htc sync, set the phone to HTC Sync, but the phone says it cant find it on my computer.

Yes it will work for that version, you only set HTC Sync mode up to install any missing drivers, then you switch back to disk drive mode if you want your computer to gain access to your phones SD card.

Thanks for the write-up it worked just like planned. And with so many people returning for some reason or another this is just what we need
Im returning one and buying another at bestbuy HEHE
so will this return the Evo to shipped stock rom IF i did the OTA update? and will i be able to root if i have the OTA update?
thanks
I had the .6 stock(not root)and OTA updated to 1.47,how can I go back to .6 stock,I ran the .6 RUU,but it said main version older and refused to downgrade, anyone knows how do I reload the .6 back?my EVO ever rooted.
As far as I've been able to find by SEARCHING the forums:
NO
Once you do the OTA update you can NOT go back or downgrade or uninstall it or whatever.
This method posted is for installing a ROOTED ota update. ie, it was hacked, and rooted prior to being installed. If you downloaded it from sprint on your phone and installed it, your are SOL for now.

Also tried multiple USB ports.
Nada.

Thanks but sadly I've been through all the steps mentioned in all those links.
My USB is fine as I have been using it without issue.
I definitely cannot flash the .1 or .6 RUU.
I tried liquid jesus's method and it would not go either.
I'm stumped
Have u tried to flash the ruu as a zip?

unable to root evo 4g with simpleroot or unrevoked

Hi all
I tried to root my evo (which had received the OTA 1.47.651.1 update already), but I've run into some problems...
I tried using the simpleroot OTA edition, but kept getting an error in step 3 where the script was unable to create a file in /data/app-cache/...
After that I tried the newly released unrevoked 3 method, which appeared to be working until near the end it rebooted the phone and said it was flashing the recovery, but the phone booted as normal and the program sat there saying it was flashing the recovery for >10min at which point I closed the program.
I was going to try one of the manual methods, but new when I boot into the HBOOT I get an error saying the main version is older, update failed. I've tried a couple different PC36IMG.zip files and all of them get the same error. And if I try to do a factory reset the phone just boots into the HBOOT screen and does nothing.
My phone can still boot normally and is usable except the camera will not turn on.
Can anyone try to help me fix my phone and get it rooted? Or at least restored to its original state?
Thanks in advance for any help!
ok scratch the camera part, after leaving the phone off for a bit and rebooting it appears to be working again... but the rest is still messed up
i had the same or similar problem because i had tried both root methods.
i got it to work with unrevoked 3 after:
1. removing pc36img.zip from the root of the SD card (apparently it'll always try to load a local image before attempting to connect to the PC)
2. uninstalling htc sync from the PC (others say this wasn't necessary, but it was definitely the step that allowed it to work successfully for me)
It turns out PDAnet also interferes with the driver accessing the evo.
Once i removed htc sync and pdanet both from my computer i was able to root my phone successfully.
not sure what the issue with simpleroot was though, but i didn't explore too deeply since unrevoked 3.1 worked now.
Man, that just saved the day for me! Thanks for the info about deleting the zip file.
hey I am having a similar proble with not being able to root. I tried all the stuff you guys suggested but it still wont work.

[Q] Problem installing D2EXT+roms?

Hello,
I have just formatted my SD card correctly to use the D2EXT+ roms that are available.....
I flashed the D2EXT+ hboot from CrystalKingdom v0.3.1 and installed the rom yesterday and everything seemed to work fine apart from the weather where i was getting forced closed, i also tried Alex Vs rom and it installed but i had constand forced closures.
I tried today with CrystalKingdom latest rom and once installed i get display issues....the lockscreen is just a white square and the HTC cloch is just white with no details, also my apps have very big writing that is messing up the screen.
I obviously must have missed something.
Could someone help me out please?
Edit: I i aso have USB brick now....CAn someone point me to the latest easiest way to sort this now please and how do i find my cid?
I am S-Off
Thanks.
I flashed this rom again a third time and it has loaded up with no problems....don't know why?
But i have a USB brick.....i am trying to use Android flasher to fix it but i can't get the cid.....i followed a guide to get the cid using astro file manager but thats too big to use with android flasher.
Can some one give me a step by step guide, the old tutorials seem to be very mixed up now.
I have flashed back to CyanogenMod-7 now so maybe i can fix this with the terminal emulator?
Appreciate any help.

I am going to say that the first booting time of every Date2EXT rom should be a little long.
If you see something was force closed at the first booting time, just click "wait", "wait" and "wait"!
I used to have the same problem with you ,and Alex told me this way and everything solved!
Er...
I don't have any ideas about how to fix your USB brick, I am very sorry for that. Do you mean you can't link your phone to the computer at the bootloader? or at the android OS? Can you push your files to your phone through the USB line?
Thanks for the reply I will try that.
About the USB problem, I cannot connect my phone to USB though android OS, USB debugging or USB options do not show when enabled.
To fix usb brick:

Thank for the link
you are S-OFF, so to fix USB-Brick do:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
of course ADB must be set up correctly @ PC
fixed
Thanks for the reply.
I have now fixed my USB brick.......Cheers

[Q] Constant crashes/reboots

I have suddenly developed a problem with my DHD. As soon as it connects the network via WCDMA/(3G) it crashes. I can use GSM without any problems. If Mobile data is enable, then that works with 'G' over icon. I have already done a restore to last April and a system reset, but neither made any difference. I have also tried different SIM and SD cards. It started by occasionally crashing with Maps running, and it got quite hot. It would be OK after 4-6 restarts, but now as soon as it tries to connect it crashes.
I am in the UK in SW and mobile coverage is very patchy. There is no 3G at home and only GSM in some rooms.
The phone is unlocked, but with S-on. I have ClockworkMod recovery running, and the system is:
Standard 2.3.5
Kernel 2.6.35.10-g931a37e (Nov 2011)
Sense 3.0
Software 3.12.405.1 with CL199157 release key
Radio 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
Any help would be appreciated. I am beggining to think it's a hardware/motherboard problem
Thanks

I found this thread: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/50801-random-reboots-2/
It's supposed to be a problem with some version of GB (UK) rom.
If flashing rom, get you the same error you can try use aahk to get S-off on your device, and after that you can flash WWE ROM (it's a standard world wide rom witch allways work the best).
Here's the link of shiped roms: http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Ace
And if u get s-off you can use this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235
In first thread that I send you some one said that it can be problem with battery. Try if u have the same problem when you charging it.
P.S.: I have remember now that my friend has the sam problem when he try to use the camera with flash on (even if battery was charged more than half), and when he raplace the battery, everything work fine.
I am a bit confused as I didn't think I needed S-Off to update ROM, provided I manually flashed the boot.img file. I have moved away from AAHK as it is no long supported if you get into trouble.
This problem is curious as it only started a week ago after a trip to Morroco, and curiously there is an identical problem report on the Vodafone forum after a trip to Morroco (see forum-dot-vodafone.co.uk/t5/HTC/WDCMA-Fatal-error-boot-loop/td-p/1605342). No solution though.
I shall have a go at a new ROM, and report the outcome.
Thanks for the help.

If you have stock ROM you can flash it only with stock rom provided with your carrier
With unlocked hboot, with S-off or with goldcard you can flash with other carrier.
In my opinion the best way is always S-off and stock rooted wwe rom.
With this solution when ever you get some problem or birck you can fix it because you have all premissions.
Unlocking hboot with HTC dev is the worst way. People report to many bugs.
About aahk, you can get when ever you want suport for it, here on this forum.
Or you can use AAHK2 by Phiber2000: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367322
Did you try with full battery and mobile phone connected to ac adapter to see if you have the same problem?
This is quick hard work - I have Window 8.1 and I can't get the PC to see the DHD in CMD/Fastboot, so I am a bit stuck. It can't enumerate the device..
HTC Sync works and I have the latest drivers etc. AAHK2 says it can see the DHD whilst it is switched on, but in the bootload, it fails.
I shall have to find a Win7 pc, as it did work when I rooted and unlocked the DHD.

I didn't think this would get so complicated!! I have fired up an old Vista PC, and updated the drivers from the AAHK2 post. They would not install - error reading transform location - so I downloaded the lastest HTC version 4.1.0.1. and used them instead.
I can run 'fastboot getvar all' on a CMD window, no problem, but...... if I try with AAHK2.cmd, it starts, and clears some old stuff, then says, NO phone connected. The phone is in bootloader/fastboot usb mode (in red). I guess its still a driver problem.
This is a dumb question, but I assume the phone should be in Bootloader mode, as I did try the script aahk2.cmd with the phone just running normally, and it did see it and proceeded to the next menu - it suggested option 'h' for HTCDev unlocked phone.

I never use AAHK2.
I only use the AAHK but i think it isn't much difrent.
You can:
when you go in fastboot type: fastboot oem lock
boot in rom
In aahk when you first time download PD98img-GB2.zip it allways stay somwhere in first folder of unziped aahk
after you boot in rom, run aahk2 and if you relocked hboot just press "1" instead of "h".
When I get home I will download AAHK2 and open the script to see what's the difrent's between.
Same Problem!
Hi
I think i have the same problem... I got back from a trip to Morocco last week... my DHD worked fine while over there, but started rebooting as soon as i turned Airplane mode off when landing back in the UK.
It can turn on for periods, and seems very stable when i disable the radio (turning on airplane mode, or removing the SIM). I think it's crashing whenever it searches for a network (regular reboots while driving, but not when sitting at my desk). I can force a reboot by searching for a new network in the settings. Are these symptoms the same as yours?
It's a 3 year old Orange DHD, using the stock build (not rooted yet).
I'd love to know if you get any more clues to your problem.

I'd love to know if you get any more clues to your problem.

Hi, and yes pretty much. I have found that if you set the phone to GSM only, it fixes the reboots (as does airplane mode too), and data is still received over 3G if available.
It is very curious about Morocco though. We were in Marrakech for about 5 days, and used the Maps on the phone (offline mode) a lot. I also saw another vodafone report too dated July 2013, so something is happening.
I have now managed to run AAHK2 and rooted and S-Offed the phone, so I shall be trying some other ROMs. I have tried KitKat, but in kept freezing.
Good luck.

Thanks for you patience, I have finally run the AAHK2 script, and after another couple of driver problems, and a failed flash, got it running.
The drivers are different for 2.3.5 vs 2.3.3, so that confused Vista.

Yesterday I stayed long at work so I didn't try anything. Congratulations for success with AAHK2.
If you install kitkat or any other custom rom, before installing you have to do a factory reset from recovery mode, flash new rom, flash boot.img via fastboot: fastboot flash boot boot.img, after that go to recovery mode: factory reset, wipe all cach, wipe dalvik, and everything you can wipe, and reboot.
After that it should work fine. But take in consideration that in all that custom rom always something don't work.
For first testing I suggest that you install stock rooted rom from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235
And in the first post you have as well radio partition. Flash it necessarily.
P.S.: With stock rooted rom, you will not lose S-off, CWM, etc...

Soft bricked my HTC One X (India);Help needed as am dead in water after a week

The following is a description of the events that lead to the brick. I am writing here in utter desperation and have tried almost everything available on the forums and around the web. Requesting assistance from any person in India or anywhere who knows the device well and can help me.
1) I had been using HTC One X for around two years. It went dead slow and I went looking out for options. Found cleaners and other software but nothing helped much.
2) I decided to flash a ROM like I have done on my Micromax A116(Indian mobile brand, available on XDA forums as well).
3) After a bit of research I found that I have to unlock the bootloader and install recovery(installing the recovery isnt new to me)
4) I then unlocked the bootloader and tried installing the ROM.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2753450
5) The installation was a failure due to some partition error.
6) I looked around XDA and found a solution.
7) This is where I goofed up.
I was unable to install the ROM and so I wiped everything using philz touch recovery. It even wiped the backup(I forgot I do not have the option of memory card on this Indian model of HTC One X).
Now after the restart, nothing comes up. I tried flashing other recovery like TWRP 2.8 which is flashing fine however, am unable to do anything except go in bootloader(fastboot, Hboot etc) or inside the recovery.
I read about RUUs, and how to make my phone detectable in PC and use ADB to copy ROM and re-flash it but nothing works at the moment. After a week of trying myself, I am here if anyone can help me out. Would deeply appreciate if anyone can find some time and check out on my issue.
I have HTC One X: CID HTC__038
Hboot: 1.73+
S-on

Dear onex master,
I had given my phone to service center and got the phone today after they failed to bring it back and said nothing can be done now.
And that is when I came back here to find your post and thought of giving it a try before I go ahead and buy a new phone. Your guidance is so perfect and accurate that my issue is finally resolved now. I got my phone back. Many thanks to you. Much much appreciated. May God bless you dear..
