Help,My tablet computer is Acer A101, under panic error A100 ROM installed, can't use 3 g Internet access right now, asking how to reinstall the A101 ROM
WTF is with your english? I didn't understand anything)
Umm, his sentence was plenty clear.
He has an a101. He installed a a100 rom. He can no longer use 3g. He is asking for help reinstalling a a101 rom to regain his 3g data.
I don't know how to help here, but his sentence was plenty clear.
Try to flash...
Try to see if you can flash an update.zip that has this ability... I am assuming you are running stock so... Try one of the STOCK UPDATE.ZIP files floating around and try to flash it to your device...
Find STOCK ROMS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307046
1.) Download the one for your device.
2.) Rename/Extract file to UPDATE.ZIP and place inside your microSD.
3.) Boot Up your A101 and press the VOL- from the beginning.
4.) You will see some info at the top left and the tablet will flash the new ROM.
Thats it, hope this helps.
Just to clarify something for the guy, if he's installed the A200 unlocked bootloader, will just flashing this stock ROM replace that as well? There have been some people bricking their tabs when going back because of that...

So he DOES have CUSTOM RECOVERY? I read it like he had regular and tried to force an update and accidentally flashed the A100 .zip instead of the A101.
Like my statement before says: "IM ASSUMING YOU ARE RUNNING STOCK" but if you are NOT and have Custom Recovery:
DO NOT RUN THE STOCK .zip IF YOU HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED CUSTOM RECOVERY.
So I guess what we need now is for frankieIam999 to tell us what his situation is,
frankieIam999, do you have custom boot recovery or is it stock? We need this information to guide you to the correct fix.

How do I manage Apps on Acer Iconia A100 Tablet
I am new to "android" systems and to Tablets. I want to be able to use my Voyager Air with my tablet to play movies while we are on vacation. How can I do this? I do have a hulu plus account and a netflix account.
Voyager Air is made by Corsair and it is a 1 TB device for storage. I know how to put things on the Voyager Air, I just don't know how to make them run on my tablet.
Help Please.

Without knowing what the thing does, I'll assume a USB storage device, that won't work with an a100. If it's a WiFi or BT capable device then it should work. This may do better if you make a new thread in general, it doesn't have anything to do with this thread.

Hi people!
I'v just bought my P6 and I'm quite lost at the offer of custom ROMs. All I know is that I don't want to retain the stock one.
So I'm sorry for the question probably being asked quite often, but please recommend me a custom ROM for P6 which would:
1. Give me the stock homescreen (launcher), I'm going the one I'm used to anyway.
2. Make it possible to customize the control keys, for example I'd like to set the switch-apps option to show the options if longer pressed.
3. Retain the "set display temperature option".
4. Allow me to customize this and that, for example I don't like battery % displayed in the status bar, it makes me nervous
I assume all of them try to improve battery life etc.
Thanks in advance and feel free to send me your recommendation as a PM

Actually I got absolutely lost. I found the leaked KitKat 4.4.2 stock version, put it on the SD card, but the phone does not allow me to install it via the in-phone menu, it seems like the phone does not see the file UPDATE.APP (I even tried to put it into the phone, the same happened)

Get the official. Not leak. And make sure you properly download the file complete.

You cant Update to kitkat when you have TWRP for Jelly Bean installed, first you have to flash stock recovery via fastboot. And this vibrate in TWRP is a known issue look in the thread with the unlock code.

So I unlocked my bootloader, installed TWRP and rooted my phone. Next I downloaded titanium backup and uninstalled all the apps that I didn't want like kid mode and fitbit and TV etc... But whenever I restart the phone, all the apps are reinstalled again. Never had this issue on my S4. Does anybody know what's up?

So what you're saying is that I have to flash a new kernel? If so, that's too complicated... I only rooted because I wanted to remove the bloatware stuff and leave everything else untouched. I'm kind of regretting it now.
Has anyone figured out a way to unroot and lock the bootloader again for the M8?
I understand - you're pretty new to this device and maybe to HTC's write protection they invented last year. That's ok mate.
With TWRP installed it's a very simple thing to flash the new kernel. Did you already do some flashing on these devices? I think it's more complicated to get root the first time than flashing a zip from TWRP. :good:
Anyway I'll help you there. Simply download Flars kernel and copy the zip-file to your internal SD-card. Boot into TWRP and choose the install option. Navigate to your internal SD and select that zip file. Start flashing and choose simply the defaults you get offered by the aroma installer. Finish, reboot and the write protection is gone. TB will work as always.

Thanks a trillion. But this thing was bugging me, so I said to hell with it and just installed the GPE RUU. How I don't have to deal with any of that nonsense since none of the bloat apps are installed in the first place. Now I just have to figure out how to reinstall TWRP and root again... This stuff seems a lot more complicated then just using ODIN on Samsung devices, at least for the time being while I'm still so new HTC stuff.
worked.
I'm using HTC since a couple of years and bought a S4 Mini for my daughter last year. Last week my sister stepped in with her Sony device. Don't ask how long it took me to understand and root these devices... lol.
If you need to know sth about HTC devices simply step in and pm me. But I think you'll be soon familiar with the differences! :good:

So I've rooted my phones for the last 5 years, nexus 1, droid, rezound, gs4, n5 and then the m8. finally i screwed up, and i was getting bootloops. in my slightly panicked state i managed to wipe the OS completely off of the device.
i can get into fastboot and from there also TWRP recovery. i've read a million threads, adb sideload, One_M8 all in one kit, etc....
I can't figure out how to now simply flash a stock ROM onto my device. can anyone spell it out in a way this idiot can get it? i;ve downloaded a gazillion things. i'm stuck. i had to go pay full retail for a phone because as a realtor i simply can't be without one even for a day. it's my lifeline. i'd like to fix this one so i can return the new one and save $700.
thanks.
When you say you wiped the OS, did you also clear the partitions? Are you booting into recovery by flashing TWRP and then booting into recovery... or are you booting into recovery via "fastboot boot"? If you have partitions still, you can use a USB OTG adapter and memory stick (or just sdcard) to store the firmware.zip file and flash it from TWRP.
IF, on the other hand, you wiped your partition table, you are in a bigger mess. It's possible a RUU can help, but I'm not familiar with them so can't comment beyond suggesting that you look into that more...
In the development section there is a system dump by (Mike1986). If your computer still recognizes your phone, download system dump to computer, copy it to your phone's internal storage, get into twrp and flash.

After downloading Rom right click on it select cut, go into your phone's storage on computer (as long as computer recognizes phone) find empty space right click and select paste.

There is a DEV RUU out. You can use that. Or if you want ATT, or GPE, find the zips, and use fastboot commands to flash. If the computer can see the phone and you can issue commands, then there is nothing to worry about. Been there done that dozens of times with the M7. After playing with this M8, seems to be the same. Let us know where you are stuck, i.e. don't know the commands, or don't know where to find the zips.

not sure if i wiped the partitions. don't think so.
i can't transfer files to the device, the pc recognizes it to give fastboot commands via a command prompt, but not as a removable device.
i'll get an sd card on my way home today and try flashing a rom using recovery.

very strange. after flashing and rebooting, i didn't have a clean install of Android, all my customizations and apps from before were installed. and i got the same random reboots. so all that info was still on the phone. went back into recovery and wiped everything, then re-flashed. now have a fresh clean install of stock 4.4.2
Thanks everyone! i kinda thought the sd card thing would be the easiest but the comments in this thread confirmed it and it worked.

Hi there -
I recently bought a D851 LG G3 from someone who told me they had rooted and unlocked it using PurpleDrake, but otherwise had left it as stock. I like the phone quite well overall, but the oversharpening on text was really bugging me. I noticed that there's a thread with a fix for that (here) and figured I'd try it out.
First, I installed TWRP using the TWRP Manager app from the Play Store. Second, I rebooted into TWRP and installed the .zip file for the Sharpening Mod. All seemed to go okay -- I got to the part of the Mod asking me for sharpening level, and it finished successfully -- but when I rebooted the phone, it's stuck in a loop where it shows the LG logo for a few seconds, then reboots. Being the bonehead that I am, I forgot to backup the existing ROM before I did this.
So that leaves me with two questions:
1. How do I get the phone functional again? I was happy enough with the previous ROM and am not necessarily looking for a custom ROM, but if there's one that's very stable and that people recommend, I'm open to that. I'm hoping to get Lollipop on the phone once LG releases it, so I'd like to avoid doing anything that will interfere with that.
2. Did I do something wrong when trying to install the Sharpening Mod? I'd really like to get that issue fixed...without screwing up the phone in the process.
Thanks!

Why's that? I did some searching before posting this request -- hadn't seen a way to restore without losing root. If that's the only option, then fine, but I was hoping to see if there's a way to avoid having to re-root it. And I think the question of what ROM to use (Stock or if there's a Custom one that's stable and popular) so I can update to Lollipop when it comes out isn't unreasonable.
Also, even if I do have to go back to Stock and re-root, I was asking if I did something wrong in applying the Sharpening Mod -- so I can fix that issue properly next time. Again, my search didn't show any obvious answer to that question.

Try just reflashing a kernel if u have one on either ur phone or SD card. If u don't, download one onto ur PC (skydragon kernel would be my suggestion), boot into recovery, mount ur phone as MTP device, copy kernel to SD card and then flash kernel.

I used to be extremely heavy into the rooting game. I started with the Galaxy s2 all the way to the Note 5 but then it kind of seemed to me like rooting lost some of it's appeal and development seemed to slow down for some devices. After the Note 7 issue with the recall I switched to iPhone for a little while. I am back now though and I'm highly looking into rooting. I see the Pixel XL has tons of development and am just wondering what do you guys think, is it worth it to root? Many people I have talked to say Android has come so far, that it's not really even necessary anymore. What are the Pro's/cons?
If this is a topic that has been posted before, I apologize, I tried looking and couldn't find anything. Also, this is my first stock google phone, in the past I have always been a galaxy/note user.

I still root because of theming and my call regarding app. Imo, custom roms are still smoother.

I was always a huge fan of theming! Hmm, perhaps it's time to pull the trigger!
I've always rooted every device, starting with my HTC Hero years ago, but I have to admit, the stock Pixel experience was the first time where I've had to ask myself is it really worth it this time.
So I tried it un-rooted for a couple of months, (which is a personal record for me!) and I loved it. But I eventually made the decision to root because I missed:
1)Dark U. I (Using Substratum)
2 Adaway Adblocker
3)Custom Roms
Now I'm on PureNexus, and couldn't be happier.
With Google seemingly tightening the screw by making it harder to modify our devices, I just hope Root access will continue to be available to me in the future.
Just like buzzboy for the most part:
- Theming. (Domination from daveyannihilation on the playstore)
- Ad blocker.
- Custom ROM.
- For pushing theme ready apps to system/data partition.
- Kernel manager app (EXKM)
- Certainly other things I forget right now...
Cheers...

Hello... Been using it since the Nexus 6, Nexus 6P and now Pixel XL. I have never been disappointed. Pixel stock firmware features + just enough customization in my opinion.
Cheers...
pure nexus + elementalx because perfect performance
Forgot about AdBlock and custom kernel. Also few other things that are escaping me at the moment.

What's the best tutorial for rooting in your opinion? Been looking on YouTube and trying to decide which one to follow.

No, no and no! Don't go on YouTube when you have the best on XDA. That doesn't make sense...
Download TWRP: https://dl.twrp.me/marlin/twrp-3.0.2-0-RC1-fastboot-marlin.img
Download SuperSU 2.79 sr3: https://download.chainfire.eu/1021/SuperSU/SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip?retrieve_file=1
And place in the root of your internal storage
Reboot your phone in bootloader.
You must have latest ADB/fastboot from Google: https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
Unzip it and place TWRP image inside platform tools folder with ADB/fastboot.
Open a command prompt on your computer and boot into TWRP:
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-RC1-fastboot-marlin.img
It will boot TWRP. Once booted, tap "install" and select SuperSU. Swipe to install and let it do its job.
Once done, just reboot. It will likely reboot two or three times. Don't worry, that's normal. You'll have Root with full stock. TWRP will vanish after the reboot.
Don't try to flash this TWRP image or you may have to reflash a full stock image... Read TWRP thread for more infos!
I think you could have found the same how-to here either in the guide or Q/A section though... :good:
Good luck...

Why?
You are on the forum where SuperSU and Magisk, likely the two best Root method are released. And you go somewhere else looking how to install it...
What did you do to get stuck? How did you proceed?

I've followed Max Lee's videos many times before and they have always worked. I guess I shouldn't have. What I did was download fastboot, the root marlin pixel and the usb driver and basically boot into the stock recovery by holding down power and volume down and doing the comman in command prompt to unlock the bootloader and then boot to root.img now it's stuck in a bootloop

You used the old root method for 7.1
If you know how to flash a Kernel then flash the factory Kernel and then use the directions above. If you dont the easiest way is ro just flash back to stock without a data wipe. First post in thw thread below.

No offence here. Just, the method you tried is not up to date... If you took the time to search a little bit before proceeding you would have known that. All infos you need to flash/root/mod are most likely already posted here. All questions have already been answered as well. Use the search function next time or at least, wait for someone to reply :good:
Good luck...
PS: hoping you'll get it fixed. 3am here, I'm off to bed...

I really appreciate all the help for some reason now my computer is not showing the phone in my computer so I can't access the files on it. I think it's got something to do with what I did to root it, I changed the driver for the phone. I used the file called android_winusb

These are the drivers you want. Sounds like what you have. It needs to be booted to see the files. Did you get it flashed?
https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb.html
EDIT... Nope you got the wrong drivers, use my link.

Yes I did get it booted but the usb is still not working and it's saying the file in the link you provided is not compatible.
Well it looks like this is a problem with the phone because i cant access anything when I hook it to my mac either.
