Ubuntu and G2 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
I just installed ubuntu on my desktop alongside W7 and installed it on my phone also. The ubuntu site said one can sync everything and even run applications from the phone with ubuntu..but I don't know what "docking the phone to the monitor/desktop" does.can't I just plug it in via USB abd do it
Or do I need to buy the dock which I don't even know where and how to get
*thanks in advance

It's better for you tu just use the usb cable, I don't think you really need a dock... but as far as I know,it has not been released yet and it will work only on 2+ cores

What do you mean by 2+ ...is the G2 that?

G2: single core. Ubuntu for android PROBABLY will work on dual or more cores

worthless 3g signal.

hi i have this problem that at my work i get close to zero 3g signal, while my n900 and my mates nexus one get full.
could this maby be solved with the radio update thats available when rooting?
living in sweden and im on comviq, so was my n900 and my mates nexus one

Hmm seems strange. Have you contacted HTC (not that they will be able to really help!) It might seem like a hassle but maybe try rooting so you can update the radio version?
yeah I will try to root my device tonight and see if that helps
will report back!

if you are going to use the latest way of doing it (via a linux live cd) you might want to start downloading it now as the servers are very slow!

Samsung infuse rooted

I just got home with my new infuse a little bit ago and have it rooted already.
I used super one click latest version which I believe is 1.9.1
Worked like a charm. Now we just need some dev support and a version if cwm that will work.

Audioboost works with root also. Just got it going. Affraid to try rom manager. Also running set cpu just for fun

GG.
Tried the inspire liked it but was too heavy. Screen wasn't nearly as nice as the infuse though.

I had to restart my laptop and then it worked for me. I was getting the same thing at first. Try downloading the samsung usb drivers again also. Had to do that also.

I agree, the inspire should have had already a 1500 battery. The 1750 on my infuse seems to be doing pretty well so far.
I just sold a nexus s and would say the screen on it was as nice as the screen on the infuse.
I thought the ns screen was better than my captivate even though they were basically the same.

Do you have any samsung drivers installed at all?
I d/l the drivers for my captivate a long time ago and they have updated themselves with each new phone.
I started with the drivers from ponack.net in the installing cognition post.
I'm not a dev so I'm not much help but I will try as much as possible.

Someone else posted the site where I got the latest version of super one click.
You can also search super one click in the forums and I think there will be a link for the drivers there also.

Not to mention the Screen is way nicer, you can actually HEAR the sounds with out any boost, it's thinner and lighter, and You can get the battery door off without breaking something.
My Inspire goes to Ebay today, loving my new Infuse!

No I don't have any drivers. When I plug myinfuse in it say driver not installed. When I go to device manager it has a yellow ! And when I try to update drivers it says drivers cannot be lockated. I gave up last night but will try again when I get off of work.
Does anyone know how I can delete the standard browser and all the AT&T apps that are on the Infuse?

Bricked, or Broken?

I've had a G2 for a couple of years now that hasn't been working. I've exchanged batteries, but cannot get anything to boot. The phone was having problems with freezing prior to the supposed brick, and the phone is completely stock.
As of now, I have it plugged in via USB and I didn't hear any sort of notification that the computer even recognizes the phone, my other android phones will get picked up with the power off.
Long story short, is there a way to get into "upgrade mode", or something similar that HTC might have? Something from ADB that could trigger the phone to power on in the hardware doesn't power on itself?
Thanks.
EDIT: The charge LED does NOT come on while plugged on to the charger.
well before i say no can you get a battery that you know works and try this first

Stupid thing has water damage..the VOID sticker wasn't where it was supposed to be, but I saw some pink residue from the sticker. I'm gonna take it to see if I can get it fixed. I believe it's worth it, it isn't the first batch of G2's, it was one of the warranty replacements that didn't have those weird issues.
Take a multi meter to the contacts with the phone open. See if any power is getting through.

[Q] Is this phone still worth it?

I'm wondering if this phone is still worth buying or it's better to wait for the Lumia 620. Question to this site: is this phone still relevant/worth it?

Might look at this if it's significantly cheaper than a Lumia 620 at around specified time.

IMO, I think HTC devices are better. Every Nokia I have had has been junk. Not sure/don't understand why everyone likes Nokia so much.
My one v is awesome, runs great. Only issue is grip of death signal issues. Are you going for CDMA or gsm?
Also I'm not sure what the Nokia you are looking at is. If its android, check out their development scene. If its slim pickings, you may be stuck on ICS or jb for a long time to come. A few devs for a device go a long way.

I'm either going with Virgin mobile $35/month if I get this or T-mobile $30/month if I get the 620. So a CDMA 1V as It's cheaper for the CDMA model. Does skype on android support rear camera video?
Not sure about Skype, it should work though. I am on the VM 35 a month plan and its great. Signal strength is just as good as my friends with sprint phones.
I do recommend groove IP for internet calling. Its a good alternative to using up cell minutes.

I really like the One V, I really like the build quality and how it grips with one hand. Its not the fastest phone in the market but for the price its well worth it. I use mine more like an mp3 player as I don't pay for service. My only grip is no FFC. To take self portraits look to the nearest mirror and point the camera lens towards you also works for video chat that allow you to use back camera for video chat.

Google flashify, the developer has a thread in XDA/ Android Development and Hacking/Apps and Games/Flashifly. About 25 pages. Start at the back and read back towards the start. You will get the latest info faster that way. You can also PM the developer for info about the app.
