What are you gonna do with your next phone? Transfer over all your contacts? LOL.

Seriously, what more do you need/want? T989 is super fast, super good GPU, strong battery, dual core GPS, one of the few devices with SAMOLED+, better than the nexus in nearly every way except screen res (and the GNex takes a performance hit because of that).

Question about this device

As the title says i have a question regarding this device sorry for opening a new thread but anyways im in Canada whit rogers so i assume i will get an gsm device ?
What are the current issues whit the gsm version ? Just wondering if too much major things as i saw a video whit the multi touch issues....

uhmm.. hmm.. had a unlocked version GSM version for a few weeks and I don't have a single problem.. flawless screen, battery, and the overall experience is great!! Don't worry.. everything will be okay

The multitouch issue is all devices, not just GSM. It isn't that big of a deal.

If i remember well is sometimes it multi touch doesnt work and sometimes does right ?

I never saw anything wrong with my multi touch.. I play multiple games and never had much problems when pinch to zooming when necessary..

My GSM Galaxy Nexus works wonderfully. The only issue is MTP sucks balls, but that's both Microsoft's fault for making it suck balls and Google's fault for using it instead of mass storage.

I actually like the MTP... I guess if I rooted my phone and wanted to see everything, then I wouldn't like it. But I found that MTP was much easier to use because everything is much more organized.. I had a Samsung vibrant before and when I plugged my phone in the computer, I would spend a few minutes just trying to find what I want... personal preference..

MTP is, from what I understand, just the way all your files from your phone are organized on your computer when you plug it in.. MTP does not allow you to see all you files from other stuff but its more organized.. can someone clarify that cause I find it hard to explain.. lol

It has nothing to do with pinch to zoom it involves the bottom right hand corner when in landscape..

Bought the SII on eBay for Cheap - Little Problem

Hi guys,
I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy SII on eBay. I decided to take the plunge even though the seller said it was for "parts and not working". He said the problem he was having was that the phone would shut off by itself, no matter what he did. He said this happened maybe once every 10 times he pressed the sleep button.
I got it yesterday and started messing around with it. I haven't encountered the problem yet but I only used it for a few hours. I proceeded to successfully root the device and flashed a custom ROM (CyanogenMod 10 - JB 4.1.1) and it seems to work ok. I'm not using the phone yet and I guess I was just wondering if you think the problem may have just "gone away". If it did, I would feel very lucky. I won't know for sure until I start using the phone regularly, but I needed a reliable phone today at work and that's why I didn't bring it with.
Any thoughts on what could cause this issue and possible solutions are appreciated. I've read some people say it's related to the CPU or the button itself, or perhaps even the battery. The owner had never rooted the phone so he was just running the regular T-Mobile Gingerbread rom.

Thanks for answering, Teo. If it's that, it should be fairly simple to fix. I'll report back just in case somebody is having the same issue.

Since the JB ROM's suffer from random restarts and sleep of death issues, I would recommend flashing an ICS ROM. This will get you a more stable environment for testing, so if the device suddenly shuts it self off, you'll know it's not the ROM.

+1 to this suggestion. Flash a ROM that is known to be stable so you can confirm the original issue. I'd suggest stock (gb or ics, doesn't matter) for the best test environment.

I bought it used on eBay, I'm not the original owner. And I didn't see the SquareTrade warranty option for this purchase, perhaps because it was under "For parts & not working". I haven't come across the problem yet. I have flashed a few different roms (ICS) but every one of them has given me some type of problem. I'm still using my very reliable myTouch 4G and I'm starting to doubt if I really want to dump it for the SII.

The phone has not been out a year yet so it don't matter about ownership as long as there is not abuse to the phone they should help you

Yeah so warranty should still work. phone warranties starts the day it is activated. My white one was activated until February so i got another 5 months!

I have both MT4G and SG2...rooted my SG2 than my MT4G..flashed alot of ROMS for both phone and while the ROMS for MT4G are great and stable (using the Dark Unicorn v2.5) the SG2 ones i like better, (Jedi Knight 2 Stripped)..hands down better phone performance of course with the SG2...just using my MT4 as a backup phone and one for testing.(rooted wifes phone so gota test ROM before i give it to her)

I'm keeping my MT .. at least for now. I actually paid more for it than for the SII! I'm using the SII full time and keeping the htc for backup. Im running Toasted Marshmallow on the htc and I like it a lot. I tried JK on the SII but gave me problems so I'm sticking to Team Chopstick for now.

IT WORKS! After almost a year, Thanks to "Princeasi" for letting us know that the App actually works only when you Disable HW overlays.

Yeah I bought this app back when I had the sgs2, and it never worked as intended. It'll record like 5 frames per second.

I'm on rooted stock. I've tried yours and many others settings and it just doesn't work correctly. The results of the recorded videos are stuttery with dramatic loss of frame rates. It doesn't properly record when I'm swiping the homescreens or any other app.
I'm just sayin!

I've tried searching for other alternatives but it's a no go. They need to update their page warning folks that it's currently not compatible with the sgs3.

I was running CM10 and it behaved the same way.
I don't think this works with our S3's.
I have downloaded others but they were crop.

I've had mine working for about 6 months now. You have to buy it from the play store. Don't get the pirated version or it won't work.

The problem is with the GS3 units regardless of where the app is coming from. I haven't tested the paid version but the free one from the app store.
There has been many ppl with problems that were using the paid app.
Can you confirm that you are using it successfully on your GS3.

[Q] Why didnt Note 2 ship with S-Health?

Ive looked all over for a reason for this and I just dont understand. The s3 had s-health and the s4 has an updated version of the app, why did samsung pass us Note 2 users by? Is it simply because were part of the Note family? Ive looked in many threads and I have the .apk file (both s3 and s4 versions) but I can get them to run and nobody seems to have a fix for it. It is mentioned in one of the threads to change build.prop to s3 then it will work. Did this, still no good. Does anybody have a mod or any information for me?! Thanks!

Update- Here is the .apk (S-Health 1.2.5) 100% working on Note 2. Just install as normal app or push to /system/app and change permission to rw-r-r.

I just downloaded the MC3 UK ROM from sammobile, but I don't see any S Health app in that ROM

No, it is just a new revamped version. Apparently its been around for a while now, though ive never personally seen the older version it was made for the S3 (Canadian S3s do not have it). I think Sammy had issues and decided to wait until the S4 to drop the bomb.

No, it was a sealed box. He logged in, the phone updated to mc3, and only then did we actually see what was installed on the phone.

Installed this a long way back, and got rid of it. Drains some battery in the background - so since I don't use it much, just got rid of it.
Nice app though, like the interface and everything.

I didn't say "kill out" did I? I said it "drains some battery" - not much if you have some utility for it.

Could you tell me the build version you were using? I have to say I have phenomenal battery life and it doesnt even show up on my battery stats its so miniscule. And a side note, even though we dont have the pedometer or bells and whistles of the s4, it works great and I quite like it. I am quitting smoking at the moment and I love that I can track cigarettes smoked and trend craving times.

Dunno, got rid of it. I just mean some battery life, not significant, but still it runs in the background, If you don't have any utility for it, it's a drain

I have the note 2 with 4.3 and downloaded the s healt from this prevois site and other sites.s health runs, but when trying to connect via bluetooth to galaxy gear it stops running. Any solutions. Is it because of 4.3 versus the old apk or is gear, note 2, 4.3 and apk not aligned?
