If you have a working internet connection on your phone ... And you want to use that internet on your PC.
Then follow this steps ~
Install kies on your PC and connect your phone via USB ... Then on your phone go to
Settings > wireless and networking > tethering and portable hotspots > tick and activate USB tethering.
Your PC will be connected to the internet ... Just untick the USB tethering when you wanna disconnect.
Done
Press thanks if you like my post

Why use tethering? I just go to Settings - Wireless And Networks - Tethering And Portable Hotspots - tick Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot and BOOM, my Wii is online and ready for me to kick ass on CoD: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3

To use Kies in XP you need to install Microsoft dotNET 4 first. So, first install dotNet then install kies.

Thanks mate. This is fantastic. Kies air works fine. BTW, how does Kies wifi work?
kies wifi is sync adapter between ur phone and computer ... aka thru wireless. In order for internet tethering and sharing you will need KiesDataRouter.so in the /system/lib file change permissions and thats it !!
Looks like the Kies Air now available on Samsung Apps is a later version than this one
I went into the app managment section and deleted hwlauncher and my phone Is going haywire. I can't use my purchased pdanet for my laptop on the go. My usb driver won't install ... someone Please give me guidance

What's your current setup? Are you rooted? What ROM are u running? Kernel? You might need to restore the file u deleted. Also, make sure Samsung drivers are installed on ur laptop, try using a different USB cable, different USB ports, etc.

Try holding the home button and hit task manager, from there try to see if you can get to the market or even a web browser and you need to download a new launcher like launcherpro or another helauncher

If you have any battery managers running while it is on they will turn off your data connection if the battery gets low. Make sure your apn settings are correct for your network. Use Titanium Backup to freeze hotspot manager and/or tethering manager.

Hi all..I'm using CM 7 prozor rom and windows XP in my comp. Now I'm unable to connect net via USB tethering.. with stock rom I had no problems but now its not connecting are all.tried HTC sync both installed and un installed., USB debugging on and off. Searched but no answer anywhere..so plz tell me how to make it work..if some drivers are required then plz give me the link where I can find them ..thanks in advance ....

CM7 rom and all roms made on it as a source allow USB tethering only on Win7, and maybe Vista. For Win XPyou need separate application on your PC and your phone. The most used one is Easy Tather that you can download from Play Store. However, with free version you're not allowed to access https (secured) sites and a few more things.
I found a pro version (some older one but I don't mind) over filestube thar fully works.
Thank u...it solved my prblm. But still Is there anyway to tether directly without the app?

Use that app to connect your Note 2 to Mac OSX.

Not working here either. Sucks using Kies.

There is a widely documented issue with this software and OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). It doesn't work. Thank goodness for dual booting windows 7 I suppose. It is pretty interesting that the latest Apple software prevents their biggest phone competitor from working properly.

My ML & Note 2 connects perfectly with each other. If you are having issues then try AirDroid from the Play store. There is no need to dual boot but to each their own.

Also, if you have Kies installed, un-install that & try connecting again via AFT.

Guys, AirDroid is great and all, but will not help much when it comes to transferring game and app files etc...
could not use Android File Transfer while Kies was installed. Simply dragging the app folder (Kies) to the trash won't fix the problem either. You have to download and run the Kies installer package but choose UNINSTALL when it starts and it will clean everything up for you. (I suppose there is an agent or two for Kies that is sitting out there.)
After that, AFT works great. (remember to bump up your device lock timeout though or it will disconnect on you if it locks during a transfer!

Thanks! I just googled kies, went to the official samsung/kies website, downloaded the program for my mac, opened up the download, ran the uninstall program, once done I plugged note 2 to my macbook pro via usb and viola! It worked perfectly without having to reinstall kies.

I found out that you cannot have Kies installed and android transfer installed on your Mac at the same time or else android transfer will not work.
Yes, you can't have KIES installed for it to work. It was posted in #5 that KIES must be uninstalled. Sometimes it helps to read the whole thread when there are only a few pages to read. =)
