if i use to wipe both, data and cache, partion,
could be the BEats and sOnny bravia deleted also,or i may say tweaks i have installed?
Yup

Things like Bravia Engine and Xloud dont get deleted from a data/ cache wipe. The tweaks dont get deleted but I'm not sure of the tweaks thingy. It'l mostly remain as it is. It only gets deleted when System is replaced, like when you flash a new ROM.
Those tweaks like beats xloud replaces system binary & library with there own ones
You can't restore the system by just wiping data & cache
flash a stock rom or custom

flashed SRF 1.1.0 a couple days ago (first time rooting and all -- yeehaw!), so this is a n00b question
i know that for that, i had to data data, cache, and dalvik cache
i've also flashed the Vision kernel, which ... seemed like it didn't require wiping data or cache or dalvik cache
i've also flashed an impaled keyboard tweak and that one seemed to require wiping just cache and dalvik cache, but not data (as i recall)
so... i'm just confused, and wondering... when do i know if i need to wipe data, or just cache/dalvik, or none at all?
i just flashed the AOSP screen lock zip .. didn't see any instructions, so i figure wipe cache and dalvik, but not data (didn't want to lose my texts was my thinking)... and i just made that up. and that seemed to work. but i figure if i knew the rules of thumb, i'd feel better like i knew what i was doing
any clues / insights would be super appreciated!!
The only time u wipe:
1.
Data/Cache/Dalvik
For a rom flash that says on the rom thread wipe wipe wipe
2.
Cache/Dalvik
Is mainly when u flash themes its reccomended
3.
As for kernals and other mods unless it says to wipe then you dont need to...
Nice info so far.
After you have done this a while you can start drawing from your brain through osmosis and you will understand: if it doesn't work the way you want....EXPERIMENT.

the above post is correct, sorta.
anytime u flash something that mods /system its good practice to wipe cache and dalvik cache.
flashing a kernel, u will want to wipe cache/dalvik cache just to be safe. it prevents any sort of incompatibility between kernels.
my 2 cents
First of all I would like to say that I am not a noob and I know most of the techical stuff. So here is my problem, I installed Hybrid v4 few days back and after 2-3 days I flashed the stock rom(DDLC2) through odin. Now I see that my status bar still has some traces of Hybrid left. So how should I flash a fresh new copy of stock rom on my phone??
have you clean your dalvik-cache?

nope
Clear dalvik and data..for a very fresh and clean install
my routine when i install a fresh rom or flash is always clear dalvik and clear partition..
some of our previous rom parts is stored inside dalvik cache. you can clean all your dalvik cache or delete only systemUI's dex file. first option is better since it will delete all dex file of uninstalled app.
As the title states, my phone only plays video such as on youtube or the twitch.tv app when the ui is present. So once the video title and play/pause buttons disappear then the video, or stream playback stops.
I'm on the newest version of MOAR, clean flash (wiped dalvik system and cache x3), no system data restored through TiBu but I did restore app and app data. I'm using freeza's optimized kernel with no tweaks currently.
I hope someone can help because I can't watch videos without constantly tapping the screen to keep the video playing but then I can only see about half the video lol. Thank you to anyone who tries to help! And let me know if you need anymore info.

You didn't mention a factory reset in the clean install thus not a clean install. You have all data from previous rom underlying under your flash of MOAR. Clean flash consist of wiping cache, and factory reset. Dalvik wipe is not necessary because when you do factory reset it will wipe dalvik also.

If you did not also do a Factory Reset before you Flashed. Then you did not do a Full Wipe. You can try booting into Recovery, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Wipe Cache, Fix Permissions, and Reboot. If that does not work I would suggest You do a Full Wipe ( System - Data - Dalvik Cache - Cache - Factory Reset ) . Then Flash the Rom. Before Flashing the Rom I would also suggest checking the MD5 Checksum.

So I use to install custom roms all the time with no issues, but on my last two android phones I have to Wipe Data / Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache and every time it wipes the OS, then I have to re-flash. I have done the following.
- Unlocked Phone
- Rooted Phone
- Flashed CWM Recovery
- Create Backup...Can only use this once I re-flash the phone,
Xperia Ion JB
I miss custom rom's lol, any idea`s...
Resolved!!!
This is how I have to do this and still not sure why, but I'm a rookie so...
- Root Device
- Install Rom Manager (Fix Permissions) - Reboot
- Install Busybox Application (Install with Smart Install)
- Install CWM Recovery
if I don't follow this exactly the wipe data deletes everything and I have to re flash.

Hi all,
I have installed cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-marvel and CronMod-INT2EXT+ on HTC Wildfire S.
Everything works fine.
After trying to use the Cron's Dalvik-Cache Wipe Tool (zip install from Clockwork mod recovery) CM 11 gets stuck on boot animation after restart.
Only factory reset/wipe helps to make it work again.
As I undertood that Dalvik Cache should also be wiped by this tool due to INT2EXT+ and as the built-in Dalvik Cache wipe clears the different location, I am puzzled how to make this work after installing e.g. Google apps package - gapps.
Any ideas?
