Hi.
My Device:
HTC Desire PVT4 SLCD rooted, s-off
since my homebutton doesnt work anymore i wanted to make use of my warranty and send in the device. Problem is: it was t-mobile branded, so i had to s-off the device and use those custom installations (with the slcd installer and the OTA update i had to rename to update.zip. got the tutorial from a german site whose admin is known for helping with desire problems and stuff)
i follwed the instructions 1:1 but it somehow didnt work properly
Problem: My device is stuck on a certain screen and wont boot anything anymore.
The screen: HTC logo in the middle, triangles with ! in every corner
absolutely no reaction to any keypresses, the only thing that produces some kind of reaction is plugging and unplugging the usb cable, which gives me a screen similar to the bootloader screen that says:
--- AlphaRev ---
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Aug 10 2010,17:52:18
RUU (the only "usable" option, though i cant use it. its in orange)
What do i do now?
My device is, as stated above a german t-mobile device.
ive googled for hours now but dont find anything particular (especially since there are so many different desires out there today and t-mobile doesnt seem to like people to get a hand on their newe RUUs, or do they?)
i found the austrian RUU on t-mobile.at though i read on some german sites that this wont work on my device (maybe brick it even more?)
on shipped-roms.com there is a UK t-mob RUU, though i dont know whether this is 2.2 (since 2.1 doesnt have SLCD drivers) so im not sure whether to flash this one either
Can i even use a RUU at this point?
if you need any information i maybe forgot, tell me and ill try to find out
thanks in advance
(cant provide links since i am a first time poster)

Install HTC Sync, download the RUU which most resembles your original RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667.
Connect your phone via USB in fastboot, and run the RUU.exe you've downloaded. You should be fine.

yes it helps you
you can run a RUU now
just plug phone with usb cable to PC, boot into fastboot mode and execute the RUU.exe
it will go back to stock, you will lose root and custom recovery but at least it will boot up, so you can root again etc.

I think it is an UK ROM, so no German/Austrian one.
I found an thread in a German forum and they have linked an Austrian t-mobile RUU for Desire SLCD: http://www.t-mobile.at/servicedownloads4you/webnwalkmanager/HTC_Desire_Froyo_Update_RUU.zip
You need to unzip the file, don't flash the ZIP on your Desire!
Forum: http://www.androidpit.de/de/android/forum/thread/406651/RUU-Stock-ROM-fuer-SLCD-Desire-von-T-Mobile
See you
thx a lot, someone on the german forums wrote something about the austrian rom not being compatible with german desires, so i flashed aforementioned UK RUU and it worked
Thx all, problem solved

Jerrol, here is a complete guide how to unroot the Desire:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268
It's easier than it seems ...
Short: After you flashed the stock Desire hboot (see here: http://alpharev.nl/) you can run the RUU via PC.
But don't try to install the RUU.zip via recovery. Just unzip it an run the .exe.
Cheers

Are you on the Bravo Stock Hboot already? If not, I suggest to flash Bravo Stock Hboot via fastbot not via PB99IMG - it is just saver.
Anyway, following the guide to unroot your Desire should be the best way to succeed
EDIT: If you have any questions regarding the unroot guide, feel free to post your specific question(s) here. I look in this thread from time to time so I will assist you as far as I can.

Hi.
You don't need to flash any HBOOTS or HBOOT donwngrader. Since you are S-ON you can't even do this, so exclude it from your steps and continue.
It can be a conflict with your HBOOT version if the RUU you are trying to run is too old and has a smaller HBOOT version (e.g. 0.80), and it won't install properly.
I always recommend to use the latest RUU available WWE 2.29.405.5, but this is at your discretion to choose. Also make sure your phone wasn't branded, or you'll going to need a Gold Card to install the RUU.

You need a Goldcard, yes. You have a branded phone. Only unbranded don't need it.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268 Post 2 point 4 ff.:
4. Do I need a Goldcard?
If you have a recent version of the RUU for your Device, available on Shipped Roms, you dont need a goldcard. This is the usual scenario for people who purchased their Desire in Europe, and so have an unbranded Desire. All Branded Desires need a correct branded version of the RUU, and any other RUU including WWE (Worldwide English, or European) RUU will not work for them. Also if an unbranded Desire user wishes to change RUU to a branded version, he will need a Goldcard. This is because all Desires have a particular software tag in the Rom, called the InfoCID. This dictates the Region code. For Eg. An Indian Desire is branded and has InfoCID of HTC__038. When you change a RUU to different region, what you actually do is reset the InfoCID setting. Changing the InfoCID setting requires a Goldcard.
5. What is a Goldcard?
It is a normal MicroUSB card specially prepared in such a way that its Sector 0 (which normally doesnt hold anything useful) is modified, so that it signals to the HTC RUU that the InfoCID may be changed.
6. How do I create a Goldcard?
Just download this tool (Credits and All Rights by [email protected]), and run it.
7. Can you tell me more about Goldcards?
Sure. I've already posted it for you. Read the FAQs in this thread.

Hi you should make sure that the version ain't lower than what you have on your phone ( the version is 2.12.110.4 ), or, as I said, there will be a HBOOT conflict (if the HBOOT is lower).
Anyway I think you can give it a try without the Gold Card, since this is T-Mobile RUU, it should work, although it is recommended you make a gold card. There are lot's of threads on how to do this even without the phone.
Nothing bad will happen, besides the fact that it won't work and give you an error.

+1. I totally agree!
hi,
trying to unroot, un-alpharev, un everething to take phone to warranty fix (gps not working anymore).
ive run the RUU, but HBOOT wasnt 'fixed'. so then i extracted rom.zip, renamed it to PB99IMG.zip and put to root of sdcard but when updating through hboot the position BOOTLOADER is BYPASSED (all others are OK).
how to remove alpharev text bootloader ? how to unroot ? (my hboot is 6.93.1002)
EDIT:
please check this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16044493
Do you have a CDMA phone? The latest HBOOT version is 0.930001
oh, should have said that before - this is GSM phone
my question is to:
-load stock recovery
-load stock hboot
-remove 'alpharev' on hboot
-to s-on
First Downgrade ur HBOOT, from alpharev.nl
then flash RUU
with PB99IMG_DOWNGRADE from ALPHAREV site i get HBOOT 6.93.9999....
Use Fastboot commander to flash downgrade image
reboot bootloader, thn u get "ALPHAREV UNLOCKED"[ on bootloader screen.
next you can run RUU/I]
If you flash this, you will be on older boot ver
http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_downgrade.zip
no change...
still on hboot screen i have :
--- Alpharev ---
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
...
Have you flashed RUU????
yes, i did - no change.
when flashing 'downgrade' from alpharev im getting hboot ver 6.93.9999 so i flashed with hboot-stock from alpharev so i get 6.93.1002...but how to get 0.92/0.93 ?
Getting out of mind now
well, now i can only say l try downgrading froyo 2.2 to 2.1.
or w8 fr others suggestion
ok...any guide? will give it a try...
also a question - why , when installing PB99IMG (full) through HBOOT i get BYPASSED on downloader ? how can I (we) switch it to OK ?
Ok first flash the stock bravo HBOOT, then flash the downgrader (all in fastboot), then run the RUU and you will be a-okay. Try running the RUU from your PC instead of the PB99IMG if it doesn't work that way.

10 people tell you to follow 2 simple steps and you do something completely different. No wonder it went wrong, never should have rooted in the first place.
Do as follows and i promise you it'll work:
1. flash downgrader hboot either via "fastboot flash hboot downgraderhboot.img" or by using the PB99IMG.zip containing it from alpharev.(it will and should still say 6.93.1002)
2. flash the ruu by putting the extracted PB99IMG.zip on and let the downgrader hboot flash it
Can give you the technical reasons for why everything you have done is wrong, but i won't bother.
ok....i flashed with stock bravo HBOOT, then flashed the downgrader (all in fastboot) and then run RUU.....
got HBOOT 0.83.0001, NO alpharev.....but...RUU failed to finish update (error 140) and have no system at all...all i can is to get to hboot menu....

np exactly what i was going for....
0.83 is very old (from android 2.1 rom) and error 140 is a bootloader version error which indicates that you are not allowed to downgrade. Get the newer ruu instead as advised all over this forum(version is 2.29.405)
Also sorry for being harsh, but I've personally explained this exact problem 2-3 times and seen plenty of others trying to do the same, so i know there are several topics explaining it just fine if you bothered to search properly.
ok...used newest RUU (RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed) , extracted rom.zip, changed name to PB99IMG.zip, put to sdcard...now i get CID INCORRECT...ehhh....searching this (and some other) forums all the time... damn...i really feel stupid....
gonna try with goldcard.....tomorrow morning....got enough of this for today...thanks everyone for their time and effort....hope the GC will do the stuff..
bah sure u downloaded the right file and not one for cdma or t-mobile eg.?
Also please boot to fastboot and plug it via usb and enter "fastboot oem boot" find the line that says CID and type the output here.
You should also be able to compare the cid of your device from above to a file in the PB99IMG.zip
edit: also your device might be branded meaning it will have another CID and it wont allow you to install the wwe one. Then you'll have to either find one for your carrier or make yourself a goldcard(allowing you to install the wwe ruu anyway).
Did what You suggested , got:
... INFO[ERR] boot image does not exist!!!
OKAY
...

Hey everyone,
Appologies if this has already been asked.
I've searched the forums but couldn't really find an answer to this...
I currently have a rooted Wildfire which is running CyanogenMod 7 Nightly 177.
It has HBOOT 0.80.xxxxxx and I want to get it S-OFF.
Why? Because I want to play around a little with the default partition sizes.
Does anyone know how to get S-OFF for HBOOT 0.80.xxxx?
Could someone provide me with a link to a solution?
Many thanks in advance!
You can't. It was the first thing I tried when Alpharev X was released and was greeted by "Your device is not supported at this time" error. It has to be 1.01.0001
Alright, then another thing:
How do I update HBOOT to version 1.01.0001 in order to get S-OFF working?
Flash an RUU with HBoot 1.01.0001. One such RUU is Froyo WWE 2.24.405.1 available at Shipped ROMs.
Thanx for helping 3xeno!
But could you provide me with a link to download it?
I've been searching on shipped-roms but can't find the version you mentioned?
Not to sure about the other ones... :S
It's 2.22.405.1. WTF, I wrote the wrong code above. Sorry about it. :/
Please avoid 2.24, it will probably give you 1.01.0002
Alright, found it. But it's a .exe file.
Can I flash this in the same way that we flash .zip files?
No, Connect your Wildfire to your PC and run the EXE file. The rest of the process is automated. It will probably help more if you flash this Safe Flash RUU first:

Edit: uploading the radio along with hboots. All the HBOOT and Radio is ripped from official RUU for EU. I have tried the latest four radios. But the older two I'm not so sure. Hi everyone, I had a lot of trouble after s-off my phone via XTC clip from a nearby shop. Just because my phone became HBOOT-0.90.0000. It has many disadvantages like U cant flash roms other than GB. So, after bricking my phone twice by flashing latest radio(every time I had to go back to that shop and he got a JTAG to fix the phone) I have found a solution. The first thing you need to do with your S-OFF device i think flash an RUU.
IF YOU WANT TO FLASH ONLY RADIO IT'S VERY RISKY. U NEED TO UPDATE HBOOT ETC. TO FLASH LATEST RADIO VERSIONS. NEW HBOOT IS NORMALLY INCLUDED IN RUU (Rom Update Utility). THIS HBOOT LOOKS COOL AS ITS SIMPLE.
Hboot 1.08.0000 => dowloadlink
My phone is A510e. S-OFF.
ENJOY.
** please rename the files to PG76IMG.zip before use and delete after flashing one at a time.

After upgrading U can flash this RUU from this linkhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577175 and do fota update to upgrade to latest firmware and get back to HBOOT 1.08.0000. No sir. U can't flash everything even with S-Off. Some radios are killed by bootloader when flashed as my mentor (who jtag my phone to unbrick) says. And when that happens you won't know before the next power button press as the bootloader screen will say flash successful, but in real your phone is bricked means you will only see a white screen blinking on and off when u press power. When press vol up and power ull get 3 vibration, when press vol up vol down and power you will get 7 vibration. LOL.
Your hboot has to be 1.08.0000 to become like you said (flash everything). And like I said I bricked twice trying to flash different radio versions. And there isn't a single post about this matter not in xda or anywhere else I searched.
My hboot became 0.90.0000 while I S-Off. So this post is for gsm S-Off users who has hboot below 1.08. Thanks to d33ps1x for the ruu post. There is not much post about S-Off.

Well you "mentor" hasn't a clue then to be honest, I had the triple vibrate blank screen problem, phone was far from bricked, all I had to do was re run the RUU and it worked fine, even at 1.08.0000 radio, the whole idea of s-off is you can do what you want...

Sir u can't run ruu when ur phone is bricked. Because u can't connect ur phone to pc via usb and also u can't go to bootloader when u press power and vol down u ll see nothing happens..
All I'm saying is when your bootloader is below 1.08 and u r S-Off u may be in risk as some radio don't support below 1.08. 1.08 is ok I also said that in post.
The thing I said wrong which u misinterpret is U can flash everything with S-Off true. But u can brick atleast there is a chance as I bricked twice I experienced, don't try flashing all radios if ur bootloader is below 1.08.
It's just a caution derived from my experience. I'm no dev. Just passing time here. Do whatever with ur phone at ur own risk.
Cheers for the help dude. I'm sure it'll save a good amount of people out there in this position xD

Thanks. I hope so.
I have HBOOT 1.09.0099 & truly i did porting all the ROM's out there, no one getting problem.
As you said in the PM about CM7 or in this post to UPDATE/DOWNDATE (Don't understand which should be called if anyone go from HBOOT 1.09.0099 to 1.08.0000) the boot loader, i think modpunk is right here & you need to downing the kernel as alquez specified in CM7 post if someone getting problem porting any ROM like cyanogenmod.

The first thing you need to do with your S-OFF device i think flash HBOOT-1.08.0000 from bootloader if not an RUU.
IF U CAN GET AN RUU IT'S OKAY. BUT IF YOU WANT TO FLASH ONLY RADIO IT'S NOT. YOU NEED THIS HBOOT ONLY IN THAT CASE. U NEED TO UPDATE HBOOT TO FLASH LATEST RADIO VERSIONS. NEW HBOOT IS NORMALLY INCLUDED IN RUU(Rom Update Utility).
Hboot 1.08.0000 => dowloadlink
My phone is A510e. S-OFF.
Hboot 1.09.0099 just in case =>downloadlink.
ENJOY.

Doesn't matter if you are 1.8 or 1.99 call it update or downgrade. You shouldnt have problems when ur hboot is 1.99.
Anyways U need this post only if your hboot is 0.90, that will be the case when someone is just s-off and hasn't applied any RUU.
NO

Edit: uploading the radio along with hboots. All the HBOOT and Radio is ripped from official RUU for EU. I have tried the latest four radios. But the older two I'm not so sure. Uploading them for experiments anyways. Let me warn you these radio and hboot flashing is far more riskier than flashing rom. Actually this is the way you can brick your phone actually.

nope they are not...i uploaded different... they cant get changed on the web... i will verify and remove if so... (to err is human meaning{man is mortal})
dont get confused... every ruu comes with a radio & hboot... u must apply the radio & hboot of same ruu... or there is risk of brick...
hi all
after reading too much about this phone im really confused about some of things that i need to ask them from you guys
1-can s-off be blocked by htc?
2-what is hboot? is it down gradable ?
3-what are the most awful things about this phone ?
thank all of you guys
1) HTC could only block S-OFF by releasing a firmware update that patches the exploit used to gain S-OFF. Anyone who is not S-OFF already and updates, would not be able to use whatever method existed previously to S-OFF.
2) Hboot is technically just one file out of the firmware file package that makes up the bootloader screen and reports the firmware version number or hboot version number. This can get confusing because technically one could just flash or update an hboot, without updating the rest of the device firmware so, while the hboot version will show to be one version, the rest of the firmware files to match that hboot version may not actually be those pertaining to the hboot version projected. Hence, it is usually within best practice to update your hboot along with the rest of the firmware files that have been updated with that hboot version. It is common practice on XDA to refer to the entire group of firmware files from an hboot version as simply the hboot.
Typically updating one's hboot is done by flashing an HTC signed RUU or OTA. But can also be done by flashing the firmware.zip file contained within them respectively. It is important to note, if just flashing the firmware.zip files, they must be done sequentially or altered properly to contain all sequential updates otherwise one will brick and probably require JTAG.
3) After unlocking and modding my phone to my liking, I have not one complaint. This phone is everything I wanted in a phone when setting out to upgrade.

i have 3 more quastions
1-what happens if i receive the phone after s-off is blocked. can devs make s-off again? can i downgrade and s-off my phone? (im going to buy a unlocked version)
2-can i s-off my phone again after flashing ruu and s-on?
3-will i lose s-off if htc fixes the bug and i update my phone?

1) There is a good chance your phone will not come with any updated firmware if you order it in the near future. That being said, I am not a fortune teller..I have no idea if future updates will be able to achieve S-OFF should they be released.
2) Once you achieve S-OFF, it remains so until you manually force S-ON. If you force S-ON after updating to a firmware that cannot be exploited, you will not be able to get S-OFF until an exploit is found if one is found, however there is never any real good reason to S-ON unless you're trying to trick HTC into honoring the warranty you knew you were forgoing upon unlocking your bootloader.
3) see answer to 2.
*****EDIT*****
I felt I should add that money and or money and knowledge can get your phone S-OFF in just about any state assuming your hardware is working fine. A riff box and some knowhow or a JTAGG service if you don't have the knowhow can always put your phone in an S-OFF state.
