Rezound Or Galaxy Nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm considering trading my Rezound for a GNexus. Worth it?

Yep if you're into flashing custom ROMs and kernels.

Rezound for sure, I hate my Galaxy Nexus. It makes me waste a lot of time by making me flash roms. And I hate too many options available. I'd say go for iphone 4s.
I'm sure everyone in this forum will agree with me without any doubt.

The only logical answer.

Get the Nexus. Far superior device.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

I have had both and I say go with the nexus. Loved the rezound battery life, camera and lte speeds. The nexus is a lot more polished with ICS and will probably have better long term support. Even the stock rom on the nexus rocks!

While the screen on the Nexus is a work of art....
....it's not like the Rezound doesn't have a "just as good" screen on it!
Stick w/your Rezound. It'll get ICS sooner than later, and your battery will love you

The Rezound already has a leaked ICS build. Throw it on your SD card as update.zip and away it goes.
It really doesn't look any different though. Still the same status bar, icons, and sense. Some minor changes but the only real difference is split screen settings and ICS apps like Gmail. Email is a HTC app and so is the dialer.
Kinda sucks.
The Nexus has options and will get JellyBean come October where the Rezound will be end of life after ICS.
The rezound does grab a slightly better signal but its also a brick. The nexus is just super sexy.
Galaxy Nexus + extended battery > rezound (while being thinner). Although you can double up the thickness and get the an extended battery for the Rezound but you'd need a separate purse to carry it around.
I had the rezound for 2 weeks before the Nexus and a coworker just upgraded to it (against my opinion). I upgraded his to ICS. He says he didn't even notice the upgrade. Looks just like GB with sense.

Biased or not the Nexus is still a better device. The only thing i'd steal from the Rezound is the camera and loudspeaker.
If it's a direct trade it's worth it. If you have to spend anything extra I'd just wait for the GSIII(If Verizon gets it) or any phone with one of the latest SoC's.

I just upgraded my wife to a Rezound from my old Droid X2 when the Rezound was $50. I flashed one of the non-sense (lol) ICS ROMs to it and it is definitely a nice device, but I would never pick it over my GNex.

Had the rezound b4 the nexus and I can tell you that the rezound isn't bad but there's nothing like a nexus . Even my nexus s 4G was a lil better than the rezound. But the rezound battery is better . Harder to root and easier to brick than the Gnex.... at the end if the day you should just go to a Verizon store check them both out for 10-15 mins. And YOU be the judge

. Sell your gnex if you don't like... I didn't flash I didn't do anything and I recommend it over anything but htc on x because I haven't tried that one.. and iPhone 4s sux balls why its even mentioned

Who are you that we need to strongly convince you? All of us are using a Galaxy Nexus. You're the one missing out.
Go to the store and try out the phone or go on the online emulator. All the threads of user experiences of the Galaxy Nexus are there, pros and cons, use the search feature and read it up on your own.
From the looks of your previous posts, RAZR & Droid X2. Get the Galaxy Nexus so you can finally get out of the Motorola jail and experience the REAL Android Experience rather than a motoblur'd experience because it blurs what Android is all about.

In my opinion, research, then use the phones at the store. Draw your own conclusions. Personally I felt like the demo RAZR at VzW lagged horrendously. The Rezound and GalNex were the same speed for me. But I've grown fond of vanilla; and although the newer Sense is kinda spiffy I'd rather have the freedom to mod it than be locked out (or wait for an eventually...haven't looked in those forums in a while).
So for me, I'd vote best to worst (but still not bad)
1. Galaxy Nexus
2. Rezound
3. DROID RAZR
But again... it's all opinion.

I think you've confused me for someone who cares what phone you buy. Get whichever one you like.

The Nexus feels MUCH better then the razr did. ICS is slick.
The lifespan on the Nexus is also considerably longer. Your practically guaranteed timely updates. The nexus last year already has ICS.
Plus the Razr HD is due out soon and you'll be old news.
ISC was designed for an Amoled HD screen. There are several features that will look like crap on a LCD. I'm not sure if the Razr has Amoled.

I like the sony brand (i always buy sony tv's for example), i had an experia x10, the phone itself was nice enough but the updates were horrendous. It took nearly a year to get updated from 1.6 !!!!! when nearly everything else was running 2+
It will also be crammed full of carrier crap which will do its stuff in dumming down any phone.........I am delighted i moved to a GN, the lack of carrier interference was enough reason for me to choose this phone

Supposedly Sony has really turned around and is taking a stand on quicker timely updates and support for this community. I think they even released ICS so developers can play around with it before it gets released to their phones. I don't remember where I read that though.

GS2 T989 is much better the Galaxy Nexus.

We are always going to be behind with software. This is the Google's and Manufacturer's fault. I have the Galaxy Nexus in my hand today and I had the GS2 for 2 months already there is nothing that Galaxy Nexus has that GS2 doesn't and we have to wait for this **** manufacturer's to release updates. The GS2 is faster and more conferable in hand.
If anyone has any questions ask me I'll try to answer.

I won't go as far as to say that the Galaxy S II is the better phone. I had a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon and it was great other then a couple defects I ran into. The software on the Galaxy Nexus will most likely be better then what makes its way to the GSII and the notification led on the Nexus is the best one I have seen on any phone. The Galaxy S II has a way better camera and has been a lot more reliable.
Both are great phones. Its really hard to say which one is better.
I say your essentially buying the same phone twice. Besides ics and a few other differences they are basically the same phone.

I'm sure theirs been a long thread discussing this already. Everyone feels strongly opinionated and there is no true winner. They both have pros and cons. If I HAD to choose I would go with the Nexus hands down for the fact that its a nexus phone and development will be great. ICS seems amazing and the display as well.
There is enough hate in the world. Why can't we all get along here ...?
Oh man, you guys completely ignore the screen issue our GS2 has. If it was a good screen, had a exynos then it would be better than the nexus. International GS2 fits in that category.
Okay.. I own and love both phones and these types of threads are entirely subjective and flame prone. Holding a phone in your hand is NOT a valid explanation for why a phone is better than another. You need to have plenty of hands-on time to really know the pro's and con's of both. (And neither is immune to either.)

most of us dont even notice the issue until someone mention it(i didnt know this until i heard about it..and i always use my phone in the dark..)
Man we buy the phones for $500 to $600 and we have to cry to get some software updates thats the thing. Google shouldn't relese the update till all the major manufacturers have their updates ready as well. If it goes like this we are going to get ICS end of the year, after original Galaxy s 2 i9100 gets it then we get it and that's the question if the carriers put thirty **** in there. So we looking at till September when Google will unveil the 5.0

if you read on the i9250 forum, they too have the screen problem, and their screen is 720
other than ICS which we'll get, the only other difference is the Barometer sensor
otherwise the i9250 is actually under grade, they even got a major issue with the storage and MTP, and fake sdcard to make old Apps compatible, but even so, there are still Apps that are still not compatible

Ill take external SD support, 8mp cam over the galaxy nexus anyday. This whole the nexus is better crap is dumb all it has is ics and even ics isn't that amazing i used it on the sensation for two weeks and its really good. It adds plenty of things that are pleasant and well done now on android. The bad is apps still need to be updated but the sensation outclassed the galaxy nexus with ics as it is and once we get it this phone will be above the nexus. People buy a phone and always look for something to complain about the screen issue is annoying if you notice it but I'm hoping supercurio makes a fix for us. Either way my use isn't affected except for maybe 5% of the time and even then its just not pleasant to look at. There are a handful of phones that once they have ics will make the nexus look out dated galaxy s 2, amaze 4g, rezound, razr, etc.... development is just slowed from these phones being new and because developing gingerbread might be worthless if ics is here in a couple months.

Ha-ha that's how I felt at first too but being on my second day now it's actually pretty easy. The hardest part for me was not hitting the damn home button instead of the space bar.

I'm having that problem now currently with the SG2 haha. Second day with the phone (last phone was MT4G) and every other time when hitting the space bar I hit one of the "hard" buttons on the bottom. Slowly getting used to it though.
I will say - if the Nexus had an equal or better camera than the SG2, I would probably return this and get that instead, especially as there's supposed to be a white one coming out. But I use my phone's camera A LOT, and it's an important feature for me, so the Nexus is out right there. I don't know why they'd release a 'flagship' phone with semi out-of-date specs. With iphone 4, SG2, and many others coming out with 8 megapixels, why would Google only do 5?? Anyway...
notification led on galaxy nexus is really badass too, +1 for that
Im going to donate a tmobile galaxy s2 to the first dev that makes a fully working ics rom for t989.

Lol, well the GS2 is a vast improvement over the myTouch 4G. (I loved that phone when it first came out too, lol.)
I think the Nexus camera has a lot of software issues. It is okay but i think it will get better as Google picks up the slack. Hell they paused the latest update for reasons unknown but people have reported much better stats all around with the leaked 4.0.3 that has been lurking around. I truly believe people make a bigger deal than what is necessary about both of these phones. Why try to argue one over the other? They are both great! As i said previously, both have pro's and con's but i think either or should be enough to satisfy the vast majority of users.

People can tell you all you want. But in the end it is ultimately your decision.
Conclude if you want it or not. No one is going to beg you to trade it or not to trade it.
Let's be honest.
You post this thread on Galaxy Nexus forums
- You get responses to trade it.. "get the galaxy nexus" (I myself included)
You post on this thread on EVO LTE forums.
- Tells you to keep it.... let me guess they told you not to... because of "specs"
Conclude for your own.... both phones are great.
Want the newest and latest in terms of software? Get the Galaxy Nexus. It'll always have the latest (unsure about its LTE variants because its controlled by carriers, but GSM version is free of that). Jelly Bean is around the corner, HTC will take awhile to update their phones.
Sure you can get custom ROMs but it's just not the same. Especially when it comes to open source drivers etc etc etc etc [read this on your own, not here to lecture about OTAs]

I have the HTC sensation. Wonder how much better either phone is then the sensation. But the specs look good for T-Mobile, including data speeds.

It's all about personal preference. The Nexus has data speeds with a theoretical max of 21 Mbps where as the S2 is 42.
On the other hand, the nexus will always have the latest and greatest software ( as long as the device is still supported by google).
Depends on what you're going to do. With a custom ROM, I found the performance to be slightly better with the G.Nexus in normal day-to-day activities such as texting and web browsing (because of Project Butter). However, the difference is pretty small. I also highly prefer the stock OS but G.Nexus does not have wifi calling so that was a deal breaker for me.

How stable are the aokp or cm roms for this phone? Any bugs?
Likely get Jellybean sometime?

A question that's been asked again and again, which one should I get?

Having had a Nexus One previous to a Galaxy S II, it's a no brainer to me. Galaxy Nexus brand new for $350 running Jelly Bean Stock.... there's really no decision here...

I really want a Samsung device. I can't afford 500+ for a new phone. But 350, hella yeah. With this Nexus you wouldn't need to worry about "lack of roms". Plus, from what I've been seeing. I don't think Google is releasing a new Nexus Phone. The Nexus 7 & Q took that place this year. So you wouldn't need to worry about an old device

Get the Galaxy Nexus if you like to get updates from Google and if you want a bigger screen. Get the S2 if you want a better camera and touchwiz.
S2 with AOKP all the way but that's just my opinion.
Sent from AOKP greatness.

What exactly do you think you are supposed to be seeing? Google has released a new device every year since creating the nexus program, why would this year be any different?

Verdict

Hello everyone, making the switch today from my iPhone to the Galaxy Nexus and would like to ask everyone's verdict on it? Would you make that switch or hold off for the GS3? I see dev is great for this phone and I love the design. Any opinions would be great.

Keep this phone until you absolutely must switch because this phone will have Dev support til the end of time.

Best Phone I've ever had. Would wait one month if you can. Than look what the new Nexus has up. S3 I don't like for it's software. If you root it, I think it's an good alternative.

If I was you I would switch to the Nexus.
The S3 is a great phone but it is very similar to the Nexus and the Nexus is going to be cheaper. Personally I like the look of the Nexus a little better too but that's just my personal preference. Also, I would be willing to bet that the Nexus will have dev support way longer than the S3 (even though the S3 came out several moths after the Nexus).
I would either go with the gn or wait for the new one.

Are you buying the Play store version (GSM Unlocked? for $349? If so, I'd say go ahead and get it now. If you're upgrading on your phone plan then I'd wait a month to see what the next Nexus devices may bring to the table.
This phone most definitely will be getting the next android version and the dev support is fantastic. The hardware is still very very good for being nearly 1 year old now - it still competes with the currently release high-end devices.
as of today go for nexus... until s3 get JB then you can compare it and decide which one you want
You're asking this question at the wrong place. Of course everyone here's answer is going to be "Galaxy Nexus".
If you want an un-biased answer, go to a neutral forum. Or a different forum entirely, like a gaming forum or something. You may get realistic answers.
With that said, go with the Nexus. I had iPhone for 5 months. I felt like I had a phone that could only do calls and texts. Nothing like the machines that are Android.
I knew I would get an answer like that eventually. I've asked on multiple forums on multiple sites the verdict has primarily been go with the Nexus. Which I did btw, I just wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth before I did. Thank you though

Welcome! Tell all of your iPhone having friends about how awesome it is. The more people we "convert" - the less people use iPhones - and maybe apple will start actually putting useful updates in iOS instead of trying to hammer away at Android. Enjoy the Nexus man.
Haha thanks!!! I will do, we must convert!!!

are you a tinkerer? coming from an iphone, android os is going to be a challenge in and of itself. rooting and flashing roms is whole other challenge. if you are pretty set on rooting and having all the bells and whistles afforded by mods and roms, then get the galaxy nexus. the dev support is second to none. if you are wanting to just run stock, then get the S3.
i got my wife an S3. i have phone envy. the S3 is a NICE phone. let me rephrase that, the S3 is a REALLY NICE phone. she didn't want it rooted and i didn't want to have to mess w/ her phone since i rooted the her last 2 phones and it got to be a pain upkeeping her phone with latest roms and updates. the S3 stock unrooted running Nova launcher kicks all kinds of butt. yes she gives up a few perks from not being rooted, but the S3 is a perfectly fine phone stock.
since i like running stock rooted roms, i would gladly take an S3 over a galaxy nexus. screen, radio, processor and battery life are better than the nexus. nothing against the nexus. the S3 is just a better phone. and being it was release about 7 months after the nexus, i would expect no less. and hopefully the nexus to be released in 4Q will be nicer than the S3.
tl;dr version. if you are hell bent on rooting and running custom roms, get the nexus. if just running stock or even just a stock rooted rom, get the S3.

In our house we just switched from Sprint to T-Mobile. Not wanting to be trapped into another 2 year deal, we bought the GS2 (I know you said 3) and a Galaxy Nexus. The GS2 was $299 and the GN was $349, so pretty comparable. The GN is awesome, but the GS2 camera seems to be far superior, so I would guess the GS3 is equal or better. However, software wise, nothing will beat a Nexus device. You won't go wrong with either phone, but if price and software are important to you, do yourself a favor and get the Nexus. If price is no object and you don't really care about OS updates, then the GS3 might be a better route.
