[Q] boot.img - HTC One X

in the new 1.28 you must flash boot.img must i first zip boot.img to install it from my sd card or how does that go?

Maybe this could help you:

Take a look at point 14 and forward. It should be the same thing only with the boot.img instead I guess.

[Q] Original RUU

Hi peeps
I screwed up installing a ROM. does anyone have or can help with the original RUU for a UK htc one x? Pretty please :cyclops:
You can not screw up a rom, only the install process ! Do it again the right way.
Do a full wipe, flash the boot.img that is in the rom.zip file with fastboot commands, flash the rom.zip in recovery !
Should be good to go again

flash the boot.img as you did again, then boot into recovery and flash the rom.zip... remember to full wipe
In recovery you have to
Install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Choose the rom.zip and follow the on screen process
So close

I read on here something about flashing the radio but have no idea where that file would be as havent been able to find it going through all the files in the ROM.
Much appreciated

im lost.. dont know what to do anymore.

sup guys!
I would like to have the JB update from ARHD 16 but im totally lost in the proces of how to do it.
i succesfully unlocked the bootloader
Installed Custom recovery and did a nandroid backup
also my phone is rooted
-Downloaded the custom rom
-Downloaded the flash boot IMG
soo what is the exact thing i need to do know? i know i need to update Hboot.. but when and how. also i want a custom kernel for max battery life.. IM CONFUSED!?!
with my motorola defy it was so easy..
First you need to update your HBOOT.
Easiest way is using >> THIS tools thanks to Stuart001.
After you succesfully done that you can flash the rom, a rom flash instruction is described in rom thread where you download the rom.zip.
Normal steps go like this:
upload downloaded rom.zip to storage on your device
flash boot.img
clear cache
install rom.zip using recovery option
Aroma installer (in rom.zip) has an option to wipe your device, I suggest you do that during rom install as well.
Of course this will erase all data, I'm just trying to help and don't take any responsibility.
if you have a supporting cid. Then only you can install jb sense roms.
ah nevermind. already found out how by chrashing my phone haha. i already solved it and now running custom rom!

[Q] How to create a flashable zip of the boot.img

I have a super CID S-OFF Tegra 3 One X, and have been flashing many ROMs on it. Everytime while flashing a new ROM I have flash boot.img through command prompt for which I need to be with the laptop always. Just wondering if anyone knows how to create a flashable zip of the boot.img which I can flash in recovery. I heard that for super CID with S-OFF devices we can flash boot.img in the recovery.
I googled for the solution and all I noted is I need to have a Linux Operating system. I have Windows Xp and SDK installed in it. Is there any luck I can drink coffee while flashing boot.img along with new custom ROMs?
Wut? Just flash the rom.zip, it flashes the boot.img without any tinkering necessary.
Yeah ...and making a Flashable zip will take probably the same time as flashing it directly with fastboot
If your phone is S-OFF you do not need to flash boot.img separately.

Even I thought the same. But the same is not happening. Even checked in recovery while flashing there is no command run for boot flash. I remember while flashing ROMs in DHD it use to show flashing boot same like flashing system and data. Is it because in the custom ROMs script's are missing for boot flash?
You are right.
I just examined a couple of scripts and the results are following:
boot.img is flashed:
Stock ROM
ARHD
CM10.1
AOKP
boot.img is not flashed:
ViperX
Chefs probably pull the support for flashing boot.img because the probability of having a S-OFF phone is very slim.

Oh..okay. I think I'll ask the chef's by PM if they could help me on this.. Is there anyway I can add scripts with SDK installed in Windows?
Nah you don't need any SDK.
Only WinRAR and a text editor.
Extract updater-script from /META-INF/com/google/android/ and add the following line:
Code:
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p4");
Add it somewhere in the end, however before it unmounts /system/
Save and quit, then delete the original updater-script from the zip and add the new one.

Nope.. It didn't.. I tried on insertcoin ROM... I figured it out for sense ROMs it's quite different from AOSP by comparing Lord's ICJ script and ARHD script..or I might have done some mistake in the script.. I asked baad if he can insert this script next time..

Problem with installing ROM. (newb)

Hey guys!
First sorry if this is wrong subforum, or there is an anserw for my problem. I spent about 5 hours on trying to do this.
Firstly I'm a noob in this subject.
I want to flash rom X - Gamer or True Smooth. ( are they any good?)
And I flashed generic .62 on my phone (Xperia Arc ) but I don't know what to do next.
I tried doing all those drivers, CWM, kernel things but I'm just lost now.
I can't learn all the things in one day..
Can someone give me links to best versions of things I need and say step by step how to do it? (or link to good toutorial)
Thank you so much for any help guys!
~ J
you need first flash kernel, then you must open cwm and set your zip file of rom from your sd card
So I need to paste it on SD card in zip? K.
When I'm trying to flash it in fastboot mode that appears "ERROR - This action can only be done in fastboot mode"
Do you have unlocked bootloader?
You have to place the ROM .zip file on the SDcard.
Depending on the bootloader status, you have to either install custom kernel for CWM Recovery or install one in system partition, latter being more riskier.

Yup I've gott my bootlader unlocked.
So what next after placing .zip file on SD?
"- Copy ROM setup file to SD card
- Enter CWM and choose the setup file
- Follow instruction in AROMA installer, customize the ROM as you like and click Install. NOTICE: in Extra section, unchecked item means you don't like it to install with this ROM, so it will be removed if it's already existed (in case you re-install the ROM)"
These are isntructions, so how do I intall CWM correctly?
Phone is rooted, I've got recoveyx on it and i installed CWM for GB. But I can't acces recovery mode. I spammed back button, volume down, hold it..
Please help..
If you have unlocked bootloader, get custom kernel for GB (LuPuS or DooMKernel), flash it in fastboot mode, get into the recovery, factory reset, wipe /system and then install zip from sdcard and choose the ROM zip.
Having unlocked bootloader and then rooting phone, installing CWM via an app is useless, time-wasting and caused many issues.
Okay I'm lost again.. I flashed Lupus and my phone didn't want to start. Blue led flashed but screen was still black..
now I've got android version 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.62) generic.
Bootloader is unlocked (100% sure)
Which kernel should I choose to make this work?
Sorry I'm so nooby in this subject

K I kindof sorted everything. Thx for help!

well, I was installing a aosp jelly bean rom and I installed the boot.img first and then flashed the rom, but the rom said that the install was aborted due to bootloader issues or something. I then tried to restore my nandroid backupand that put me stuck on the htc screen on bootup. I then tried to install stock recovery as a guide told me or something and it got rid of my backup. I have no idea what to do. I have reflashed CWM and can boot into the bootloader and the recovery. How can I install a new rom or a stock rom to make this work. Please help!
My main number is this : 4.18.401.4
my hboot version is 1.72.0000
my radio version is 5.1204.167.31

ok wich hboot and wich recovery you flashed first time, now you are with the stock one.
1. Unlock bootloader and flash THIS recovery
take the recovery.img from zip paste it in your fastboot folder and flash it with the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img then go in recovery and charge the phone
2. Do you have some rom on your sd card?
3. Wich CWM version?
Edit if your AICP rom is still on sd card flash THIS RECOVERY then install the rom and flash the boot.img.
I think you tryed with the old recovery to install KitKat or LP rom big mistake

Why you not install some sense for first time or try to flash some CM12 or lolipop. Remember Philz 5.15.9 is only for JB roms and mount sd card work only on 5.15.9. If you want KitKat or Lolipop you must to change the recovery to this where I give you in my post, but dont forget to copy the rom to sd card with this recovery first., or easy way download some sense and flash it
Say wich rom you want to flash and I will give you the right link for rom

You are very kind when flashing a rom, do I remove the boot.img from the rom file to flash via fastboot, or do i just make a copy of it? I would like to flash cm 10.2 to begin with, which files do i need and which recovery? thank you in advance, you are a great help!
Also, my phone only came with 1.5gb free space for apps... It is a 32gb phone and i have 25gb of storage left but it says only 1.5gb out of 6gb for apps, how do i unlimit this?

10.2 is too old but it is your decision. just extract the boot.img from zip and put it in your fastboot folder. Don't extract the hole zip, and copy the original zip on your sd card. You can move the apps to your sd card CM support it
Well I want an aosp rom that means i can stick to the same recovery. It seems easier to stick to JB, would that be okay? Could you find me the relevant files?
I basically want the easiest one to install and the most risk free!
