I've been reading through a few threads and have some info that i'd like to share with everybody.
I have two chargers for my phone. One in the living room, and one in the bedroom. Last night, i put my phone on to charge in the bedroom as i went to sleep, and after 6 hours on charge, it went from 30% to 80% ONLY. Tonight i put the phone on to charge in the living room and it charged the phone fully in about 2 hours!
Both of the charger's bases are from HTC, but the USB cable in the bedroom is a cheap one i picked up from somewhere i cant remember(for its long length). The USB cable in the living room is an official HTC one.
Back in my Desire days when we were having issues getting a quality charge with the phone, i remember something about wether the data pins needing to be shorted or not would depict wether the phone got 500mA or 1A to charge.
Do you think this would also apply to the problems some of us are experiencing with the battery?

me too! the stock charger with 1.26 didn't charge the battery at all so i've used iphone/ipad chargers in usb mode. The bug has been fixed with 1.28 and now also the stock charger works fine.
bye
I have a stock sim free handset running the latest 1.29.401.11 and I have a similar issue. I have 2 HTC cables from ebay and 5 nokia ones from amazon and all seem to DRAIN the battery rather than charge it. This is my 5th One X due to various issues. Is this a problem with the phone hardware, software or the cables?

I think nobody asked this question before since I didn't find it even loking in Google
Since I got mi Desire I realised that not every charger works for it, I have an USB charger that went with a bluetooth dongle I bought (with same specs) but seems to be a lie because the battery keeps draining when plugged in, but that's not the problem I actually have.
My original HTC charger broke after three weeks of normal use , since there are no HTC stores in my country I went to an Apple store and bought and Iphone charger wich has the same specs as the broken stock one (Output 5V 1A). The problem is that sometimes when I plug the phone (usualy I charge my phone overnight), the screen becomes buggy, sometimes not responsive and sometimes over responsive (eg. if I click on an icon to move it into the home screen, it responds as if I clicked that icon several times very quickly). At first I thougt it was a ROM issue, but at this moment I already tried LeeDroid, OpenDesire and now I'm on teppic74's rooted Froyo and had similar issues in everyone of them. It's not really a mind breaker since I am ussually sleeping while charging, but I wonder if I'm not killing the battery or causing any kind of damage to the phone.
Can anybody give me a hand on this?
Thanks
Why not just order a charger online?
I don't know if it hurts the phone or the battery.
But if my screen went super-laggy and over-responsive by charging it..
I'd throw the charger out.
Already ordered, but I was wondering if someone happened to know a technical reason for this to happen, the phone doesn't overheat and the charging process works as a charm, the only issue is the screen wich sometimes behaves perfectly normal
Guess I will give the charger to any iphone owner when I get the original one (I have to buy in the UK store.. totally overseas)
My phone does the same thing if I use a PS3 charger (Just the usb to wall socket part). When I was in a phone shop, I noticed their Desire HD that was on display did the same thing. From what I can gather, it doesn't do any damage and happens with a lot of aftermarket chargers. Don't take my word for that though, hope I shed some light
Hello
Have same problem with my recently buyed HTC Desire while charging with non-original charger (from Nokia).
First time I'm worried about phone, but after reading charger's characteristics I found some difference in power.
So I think while phone charging it's receives less power than needed for normal work.
Plugged my phone in last night at 55%, woke up this morning at 48% battery. Noticed that the charging indicater (both light, and battery graphic) do not indicate that the phone is even plugged in.
I have done two reboots, tried different wall sockets, and different chargers with no luck. Other phones charge off my HTC charger. It is definitely the phone.
I did the solder fix for my WiFi antennae a few days ago, so now I am ****ed for warranty too! Definitely the last HTC product I buy. Anyway, is there any sort of known fix for this? is the mircro USB receiver coming loose from the PCB? Is the the actual problem the battery being borked?

You probably have a dead battery...Someone who has seen this problem before could confirm.
The way you write is pretty hard to read, so you might wait a while until someone does confirm this .
1. Never charge the phone for the whole night.
2. I had the same problem. I changed my charger and now, it is perfectly charging. Try it.

thanx for suggestion, how much do i hav to pay for a new charger??
But you said you left it to charge via USB cable on your PC and it didn't charge properly. If you used the same USB cable with the charger, then the cable might be to blame. You should try a friends cable before buying a new charger.
If the charger does not work with the same USB cable you used to connect to the PC, your battery is most probably dead.

Charging all night isn't an issue.
The battery will charge to 100% then drop to 95% and back up, will cause no damage.
Also smaller and often charges are better for the battery as it slows the formation of crystals so the battery holds its capacity longer.

If you have used 2 different cables to charge and none worked properly, that is probably too big of a coincidence. Your phone has something broken; it's either the battery or the charging circuit in the phone. You should take it to a specialized phone service to see what's wrong. They will also try charging it before disassembling, and if there's nothing wrong with the phone, they probably won't even charge you anything.
If indeed they have to disassemble it, you should ask them if there will be any visible differences once they assemble is back. I had a cracked digitizer on my old One X and took it to service and replaced the display+digitizer(they come together) and, although the screen was new, it did not fit as snugly as before, so you could see light leaking out the side margins of the display.
They probably had many of these phones under repair and should know if this will be the case with your phone.

thnx bro, my phn is fully charged now but ill be visiting service center..
You can use/try every USB charger and cable you have in your house, I also charge my HOX with my iPad charger (only different cable ) no porblem at all. And it's no problem to charge your phone the whole night.
im running ARHD 12.0 [Android 5.1] and facing 340ma charging, around 3-4 hr until full
anyone have the same problem ?
before i use this rom (running stock rom) i also have this problem.
I feel like it takes the phone a little to "set up." When I first got the phone it took forever to charge, now it does it fine within 2-3 hours. I plug it in and I see it charges decently fast. When I first got the phone it was really bad at charging though, I really was about to send it back.
Make sure you use a genuine charger. htc or samsung chargers seem to work fine.
An under powered charger will cause the phone to whinge incessantly about low charging power, refuse to swutch off the screen and waste power like its going out of fashion.
Htc logic.. Something not to be desired..

Old thread I know but most relevant I could quickly find.
Using standard charger included with M9 I could charge from 0 to full in about an hour and a half to 2 hours maximum. Lately, it now is taking 9 to 13 hours with the same charger and cable. Have swapped out cable, no improvement.
On stock, no root, TMO, firmware 2.11.531.19. Charging with unit off, in recovery or bootloader makes no difference.
Any ideas?
Turn the device off and charge it. If it charges in the correct amount of time then you can assume you charger is good but the phone is demanding too much power.

I had problems with charging recently. Very obvious fluctuations in charging and not charging to 100%. The problem was lint in the micro USB. Search YouTube videos on how to safely clean them. It has to be worth trying.
Depends, I've had bum adapters before. Had the same issue with my old Note 3 using it's included adapter. I switched to a different one I had (an LG one) and it charged fine afterwards.
My issues were solved by the marshmallow update.

That solved it, thanks!

Not sure if was just a bug, but last night I put my phone on charge before bed and battery was at 25% I woke up in the morning to my suprise battery was only at 27%, I unplugged USB and re-plugged in again and it charged like normal.
Well, I had the same issue when I woke up this morning except in my case, the power brick has died completely and I am trying to determine if the battery has as well...
It does say it's charging on the lock screen when I connect it to a computer but in 10 minutes I haven't seen the percentage go up
FYI I have charged the device overnight only 9 times since I got it, GREAT JOB HTC !

Did you have ultra battery saving mode enabled to turn on automatically? Last time I had this enabled my phone wouldn't charge on a stock rom and stock charger. It only happened in 24 hour span, and there were times during that time when I plugged it in and wouldn't charge. I was on the latest update and after I disabled ultra battery saving mode I never had any charging problems
Nope all berry saving modes was off. It charged fine last night from 40%
I going to try run battery down today and see. Very strange

I can hear some noise coming from the charger while it's working louder than the M9's charger and a sound whenever I disconnect the charging cable from the port, like if something was a little loose. Are those normal things?
I recently had this issue too on a totally stock Verizon phone. Phone wouldn't charge until a reboot.

I assume you guys are all using stock charger and cable to charge? I think QC 3.0 can be picky about the cable used. Haven't had any issues with the 10, but previous phone was a lumia 950xl. It was only QC 2.0, I used a third party cable with it, had a lot of bother, then used stock cable and everything worked perfectly.
I had this happening once and the issue was for some reason the cable wasn't plugged to the wall adapter properly. I removed it and plugged it and it started working. I don't think it's something to get worried about.
Not sure about the noise though

That's normal. It's a switching-mode power supply (SMPS for short) and there's some coil whining in there. Quite literally business as usual.
Not sure if there has been any update on this, but I'm experiencing the same issue as well. I have a stock charger + stock cable as well as two Anker chargers (both QC3, one wall and one car charger) and I use iOrange-E cables (56k ohm) with the Ankers. I only have this problem with the stock cable and stock charger, the 3rd party chargers haven't had any issues yet. I will plug the phone in for the night and a majority of the time (it's happened 5 or so times in the past week) it will charge for about 10 minutes or less before it just stops charging. It acts like it's been unplugged entirely. I have to unplug and replug the charger to the wall a couple of times before it will start charging again. It will again only charge for a short period of time before it stops and repeats this. Since it's only happening with the one charger I'm left to believe that maybe the charger is just faulty. Anyone else still having this problem or has come to the same conclusion?
Yes!!! I've had this issue with the stock charger as well... very weird. Just doesn't charge and have to unplug it multiple times to get it to work
I also have an anker wall and car charger along with an anker cable... they work fine
Verizon stock phone... hasn't happened since ota

Well I just experienced the same I guess ..
The cable is still okay if I plug into a different charging head/block it charges but it does not with the original head... Its weird... Not even after restarts and so

Started having the issue a few days ago. Phone will not charge until I plug it in and then reboot it. Doesn't matter what cable, charger, etc... I use, and yes I have tried them all. Stock, anker, qc 3 certified, non certified, doesn't matter. It behaves the same no matter what. Even went back to stock rom and same issue. Tried a couple of different kernels too.

This now the only way my phone will charge. I have probably ordered 3 sets of QC 3 certified chargers(car and wall), the stock one that came with the phone, probably 20 different cables, even some being micro USB with adapters, flashed all the way back to stock unrooted, wiped sd card, formatted data, tried several different kernals and roms. The only thing I have not done is go back S-On for completely out of the box stock, just dont feel it would make a difference at this point. Did yours simply just start working again dottat?
