es file manager is run ok
oi file manager also ok to browse sdcard
but i need use root explorer to set permission for copy or moving system apk file

if you've restored root explorer from a previous rom you may need to clear root explorer data in apps

try pressing MOUNT AS R/W . not sure tho.

you can explore sd card and system files with es file explorer to, and is free. for this go in settings - go down and check root explorer and mount file system. now you can change your system files. care with this...

[Q] Possible to Move Titanium Backup into Rom?

Hi guys i was wondering if its safe to move titanium backup into the rom, like installing it on the internal, then copying the app from the data/app folder to the system/app folder with root explorer? it is an important app so just want some tips if anyone has done it.
Thanks
Yep. Been doing that for quite a while. Better copy the apk file from data/app folder to SD. Afterwards do an uninstall of the app just to properly remove the app components. Then copy the TB apk file you saved on the SD card and paste it on to system/app folder. Don't forget to change the permissions and then reboot.
Make a NAND backup to before doing it as a precaution.
If you are going to flash a new ROM, you can put the apk file on the system/app prior to flashing. No need to update the permissions afterwards.
When you say, change the permissions, what do you mean? and change them to what? when i select the permissions option theres loads of boxes, some ticked and some unticked, therefore which ones do i need to tick and untick? thanks
Just long press on any existing app under system/app folder and select permissions via root explorer. find out what boxes that are checked. you need to set the same permission for Titanium apk.
It should be like this.

Root explorer being a paid app, you can set required permissions with Terminal emulator easily:
Anything in /system/app or /data/app should have permissions : rw-r--r-- / 644
So command is :
Code:
chmod 644 /system/app/com.keramidas.Titaniumbackup-1.apk
Check the file name.
This thread is awesome. I have 100 mb free in my system rom, and I'd like to move some apps over to it since I don't have too many options with my CDMA Desire. Thanks!
Okay, maybe I'm missing some final steps here. I've copied the apk files to the SD card, uninstalled the app, changed the permissions, then rebooted. I used Adobe Reader and Google+ since I don't use them often, and wanted to try something that wouldn't matter too much if I goofed it up. Well, the apps just forced closed when I tried to open them after rebooting. So I thought I had to install them (long press on apk file and click install). Well, that defeated the purpose because it installed them to internal memory. So was I supposed to do something else, or did I miss a step? And now I've got some stray files on the internal memories, since that has now shrunk. I was able to "uninstall updates" to Google+ and get rid of most of it, but I don't see where to uninstall them so I can start over.

Plz help

When i format the sdcard and delete partition and create a new pertition and flashed apps2sd enable rom. Then in /system/sd , there is no file like that. So then i can install any apps. But again when i install another rom like repencics,corbits or etc. Those files autometically comes on /system/sd and i unable to install apps. Getting restart.. Very important thinks that using root explorer with w/r and in cwm , it is not deleted and plz see this pic

Unless you know what those are for and what exactly they do, I'd recommend leaving system files alone.
Anyway, to delete make sure you mount as r/w.
and if u delete them without knowing what r they use for ....
then ur whole os might get crash
and will result in some probs !
its better to leave them as it is
You'll have to mount it as Read/Write and then you'll be able to del them ..
U are using Root explorer .. so there is a toggle button to switch between [Read and Write] and [Read Only] .. at the top with labels Mount R/W and Mount R/O respectively..
So make sure you have mounted it as Read And Write and then you can delete or rename or whatever you want..
But why do you want to del those files?
Those are system files so its better not to touch them unless you know what you are doing!

[Q] Phone apk [2.3.7] Abtekk's Custom ROM [V3] [25-JAN-2012]

Hello,
I have a problem with the calling feature of this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458749
and by the way i love this ROM, big thx to Abtekk
The problem is that i can not touch the # and *, there are behind the keyboard and i can not access them during a phone call when the robot on the phone aske me, WTF ???
Is there an extra phone/call apk that i can install or flash someting ?
Thx a lot for your help and sorry for my english
I ran this ROM for quite a while and never experienced any problems with dialer. Sorry, but I don't know what to suggest, only the fact it was fine for me. Might be worth trying a re-flash.
Do you know how can i change the dialer ?
Here is a picture

So as you can see i can not access the # and *
Thx a lot
You could try putting this file in System/app with a root explorer then reboot, its from CM 7. Do a nandroid first though just in case.
I can not copy it in my /system/app , it not allow me to copy on /system/app !?
(i try with io file manager)
EDIT: I read some info on the net and my phone is S-On, i try to put it on S-OFF for editing system files
Thx
You need to mount the /system partition as read-write.
Easiest way (and free) is to download ES File Explorer and in the settings tick Root Explorer and Mount File System.
You should be able to copy files into /system/app now.
Ok i install ES explorer, give root eccess, super user permission and mount system but it still not allow me to copy something to /system/app !
Maybe it is because of the S-ON thing ?
Thx again
You should be able to flash it I think, use winrar to place your apk in the /system/app folder in this zip http://db.tt/ji223eQK then mount system and flash it in cwm.
The contacts.apk that's already in the zip is from cm7.2.

I directly use your zip with the contact.apk inside, i reboot on recovery, mount system in the advance recovery menu and flash the zip like a ROM. Flash complete but nothing has change when a make a phone call, it's still the same dialer ...

HD pictures saving as green rectangle

Anyone has a problem with camera and saving HD pictures? Every time I try to make a HD photo I get this:

I rebooted phone, problem still persists. It's rooted but the rest is stock. OX 3.1.3 I found someone else having same problem:

I had the same issue, unfortunately the only way I fixed it was by reflashing stock. You should be able to do so with no wipe though, or at the moment I am on the debloated one http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/rom-op3lite-debloated-tweaked-fast-t3404996 .. It is working great so far no camera issues or any others.
It works! I have reflashed stock zip and problem is gone. I hope it won't be back. It looks like there is a problem with drivers as Google camera app couldn't connect to the device, op3 app was unable to switch between front and rear camera after taking shot etc. Thank you for your help.

As this thread doesn't have the right fix documented, let me.
Fix is to set permissions of /system/build.prop to rwx-r-r. It's highly probable that some other build prop editor app changed that permission.

Hey, can you tell me a file explorer in which I can do that? I remember you could do it in ES File Explorer but now in File properties it just says Readable: Yes, Writable: Yes, Hidden: No.
P.S: I don't know if I have the same problem, because I can use Google Camera to take photos, stock camera all photos green.
Thanks

You will need root to view the /system folder as I'm sure you're aware. ES File Explorer has a toggle for Root Explorer (Top left settings tab).
Go into your /system folder and you should see a build.prop. Go into its properties and change permissions to Owner: Read Write Execute; Group: Read; Other: Read

Thank you !!
I forgot about that root switch in ES. Stock camera works perfectly now.

[GUIDE] Hosts-Based AdBlocking Without Root

This approach is useful for certain OS's where you wish to keep root for security reasons, the system is poorly supported, or for, e.g., Copperhead OS where root won't install properly.
Note: this guide presumes an unlocked boot loader and/or TWRP recovery.
You shall need a hosts file from another android device on which you are currently running AdAway on. Alternately, you could acquire a hosts file from the various sites which offer hosts:
https://filterlists.com/ This has to be the most comprehensive source of URL, spam, AdExcrement, tracking, and malware filter lists known.
...or...
https://github.com/AdAway/AdAway/wiki/HostsSources
To get started, you could go with this:
http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.txt
Or use the linked hosts file amalgamated from 7 or 8 different blocklist sources. It features almost 70,000 blocked addresses, so that's not a bad haul.
hosts 2.3 MB
https://mega.nz/#!pIsggIpD!9GlmO51-9dndTz9bJIWX8SJ-1wosukIOIU6VJ-l_kuU
Note that going overboard with block lists will start to break webpages and break legitimate webpages. Experiment carefully.
Either way you should harvest your hosts file from /system/etc/ on the devices you have run AdAway on. You will need a root-level file manager (CM File Manager, ES File Explorer, or similar) to get at it.
The exact file is at: /system/etc/hosts. Notice it does not have any file extension. Keep it that way.
0. Copy this blocklist hosts file to the base directory of you SD card, then plug into your computer and copy it over to the PC.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
1. Next, take your target device and copy the blocklist hosts file over to the SD card on that device.
2. Restart target device into TWRP recovery.
3. Go to the Mount function and mount the System partition as read/write.
4. Go to the File Manager Option.
5. Navigate to the SD card and select the modified hosts file.
6. Copy this hosts file to the /system/etc/ directory, overwriting the original.
7. Restart to system and enjoy.
