Im new to xperia play and... i want to know whats the best custom rom for gb and ics. my friend told me that the best for gb is trueancestor... is it really good? on ics, he told me xdark ics rom is the best, is it?
It's a matter of preference,
I use CM9 RC2
For Gingerbread, I love the rom Gin2Jellybean
I use cm9 rc 2 with fxp Turbo 1 kernel. Very smooth so far for the most part .

Camera works fine, The only browser related problem I've came across was when I went to youtube.com instead of the app then proceeded to skip a few minutes into the video... then I got a message saying the browser is not responding... other than that it's awesome, one complaint tho. The sound QUALITY is better but the sound VOLUME is lower than the stock GB.
Just wanna know the best rom for :
Gaming
UI (LooKs)
Speed & Performance
Battery Life (Even with slight Overclock)
Cant really find one that looks really good.
DiXperia 2, Lupus Linaro GB v2. Thats it.
The one u already used: NXT Rom
But still after a lot of thread that ask the same Q, and yet we hav another. Pretty weird tho.
Please help me for my xperia !
hi people. I will soon receive my xperia play and I really need advice.
If I did not root my phone or install a custom rom, can I play for example zelda ocarina of time has no lags or any problems or many other zelda games is just one example.
At the interface disign and I brace for a moment by the version 4.0.4 that I love.
So I advise you to install a custom rom or rooter my xperia play?
Another issue because I have a xperia x8:
Have known you a custom rom 4.0.4 with the camera and complete?
(please send me links I pert on your forums yet sorry)

Well, there's loads.. there's Gin2JellyBean, NXTRom, DiXperia, or if you want to try out ICS, there's Mark Phytons ICS ROM for Android 4.0.4
Sorry to hijack and all that but if all I want to do gaming wise is play emulators and not the latest games what would be the recommended ROM? Currently using 2.3.7 true ancestor with doom kernel. Fancy a bit of ics, but don't want to sabotage my ability to play megadrive and snes games (and so on)
Cheers all

Thread Moved to Q&A
Which is better, CM9 or CM10?
With all the hard work of the FXP team, it's extremely difficult to choose between CyanogenMod 9 and CyanogenMod 10
I was wondering, if through the power of the XDA forums, people would be so kind as to help me out a bit, maybe offer an opinion, or tell me the benefits of each.
Obviously I've read through both threads and found problems and errors, but due to the constant updates, I never know if these errors still exist or not
Hopefully someone can help me decide between CM9 and CM10 or advise me to stick to my Sony stock based rom at the moment
Thanks!
- Jack
There are total three versions released by FXP.
1. CM7 - Ginger bread
2, CM9 - Ice Cream Sandwich
3. CM10 - Jellybean
Right now CM9 is in beta and CM10 is in alpha. Where CM7 is in stable mode means everything is working and most of the problems got solved.
Regarding CM9, its laggy compare to CM10 - my personal experience. But CM9 it is in beta, where it fits for daily use.
Regarding CM10, this ROM is in alpha, with fixes (posted in CM10 thread) it is also suit for daily use.
What I want to say is stay with GB, flash CM10 once the rom moved to beta version or flash CM7 for fast and smooth ROM. :highfive:

Are there any app incompatibilities like apps that only work with ICS+ or do they all work with GB?

Cm10 is better
Sent from my Xperia Arc using Tapatalk 2
Why would you say that is?
CM9 cuz its more stable than CM10.
I use CM 9.1 because it supports flash... CM10 is a lot more fluid than CM9, but lack of flash support is a huge deal for me.
I chose to try out CM10 and I don't think I'm going back
If you install cm10, there is a simple way to get flash working just as it does on Ics, tested it myself with flash and dolphin browser if you're interested I can link you to the apk

sorry but...Neither One Nor the Other .in My opinion!
What I like most about JB/CM10 is the options in the notification bar, like quick reply, call (for texts), and call back or message (for calls) not to mention the incredible battery life i get when my phone is in standby (i think it averages 0.5%/h, which is much lower than all the other roms I tried, for GB and ICS). But I'm using an xperia pro (since we share a forum) so it might not be the same... but one thing i don't like about CM10 is the camera (have they fixed that in fxp138?) and the random crashes every now and then. But it's not that bad.
If you want tasted ICS and GB look, just try flash Jelly Sandwich by Maxxio 1998. Just stable... Use until CM10 get the beta version...

Jelly Sandwich and Xperia ICS & JB Remix is builded on stock ICS. Currently Im using Xperia ICS & JB Remix and it's great! A lot of free ram, zero lags and no bloatware apps like : Timescape and FB.
I can't seem to find a Rom that im just 100% happy with. I've tried various GB and ICS roms but still am not happy. I like to play the Asphalt racing series and every rom I've tried on still lags. My Xperia Play 4G I've had unbranded bootloader unlocked and have tried cyanogenmod 7 and 9, I've tried the official ICS, nxt, true ancestor, and various other roms. I don't understand swap file or swap partition usage. Im also a user of supercharger v6 script which im not sure if it actually works. Please advise me.

what ICS Official do you use ? is this what you mean ?
i plan to flash this ROM to my Xperia Play , and i plan to unlock the bootloader of my device
what you mean missing the game play ? is the game play getting more laggy on that ROM ?
Yes thats the ics Rom im talking about. I call it official because Sony has been helping that developer finish it. But asphalt 6 and 7 lag on it but very playabe. GTA 3 is unplayable.(same with all ics roms) nova 3 lags. Gingerbread is just what our xperia plays are meant to run. PsXperia games converted for GB are also unsupported. Meaning only ps1 games can play on ics are the small list of officials from the store. so if you want a gaming phone stay with a GB stock or custom rom. Im using 2.3.3 stock with lupus kernel o.c. to 1500ghz and supercharged

hmmm so some games is still uncompatible with the ROM :crying: even the converted ps pocket games with PSXperia :crying:
but isn't ICS has improved memory management for running apps ? then why the game is more laggy & incompatible
based on your testimonial i guess i cancel my plan to unlock bootloader and flash this ICS ROM + custom kernel , for now
until markphyton can make the very stable release ( let's just hope so ) hehehe
i currently using Xperia NXT 1.3 KrisDee with stock kernel ( locked bootloader ), i found this stable custom ROM for GB and great gaming performance
but i have found a few small problem like , missing DLNA feature , cannot like track in music player ( like on facebook ) , cannot sync with senseMe & cannot charge the battery in OFF posistion
Ive had a bad experience gaming on ics. I dont necessarily say ics is unstable. It has came leaps and bounds from where it was on xperia Play its just I think these devices lack the extra hardware requirements. I.e. Cpu,gpu, ram. Gingerbread unfortunately being outdated is still the most stable for gaming. You can still achieve dlna by using es file explorer and setting up ftp with your router, pc. I access all my home files everywhere on my phone.

Unlocking your bootloader is still not a bad $20 investment. The test point method is simple, effective, and fast. You also might be able to find flashable addons for those other options you mentioned. Just saying. Im still happy im unbranded and can flash roms and kernels at my desire.

Its totally worth being able to flash custom kernel. Id say the changes are significant. And removing the sticker is the hardest part of the test point method. You wont lose drm either.

Hi there.
I need ICS ROM for Xplay with everything working, especially TOUCHPADS and GAMEPAD
Is there any ICS rom that full support touchpads and really works, i found neo2play rom, xperia play zeus final v5 rom, and in description i reed that touchpads are supported 100% but when i tried games like mc2, nova 2, rainbow six etc. when i touch the touchpads, games forces close :/
Touchpads only worked on fifa 12 and 9mm(in games that i tried).
And what about official sony ICS beta for PLAY? Does it have full supported touchpads, anyone tried it ? If it has full working touchpads, than i'll have to relock my bootloader and install that rom because i really need ICS rom with everything full working.
Please post a link of a ICS rom thread(if there is any) with full working touchpads and gamepads.
Hi, you can try krisdee's hybrid ROM or the Darkforest ROM. The first one is lighter so it's better for gaming but the second one looks more like ICs. Trough, why don't you use a GB ROM for gaming insteand than an ICs one? ICs ROMs are heavier and less friendly with RAM than GB ones. I don't know how could nova be playable on an ICs ROM :S anyway i'm a new user here and i haven't got enough messages to post links but the krisdee's rom is easy to find but the Darkforest must be uploaded again.

I need ICS rom because some apps that i use need android 4+ to instal
I only need ICS ROM with everything working well.
In last days I tried about 10 different ROMs and in every ROM i reed that touchpads work perfect, i tested it and whenever i touch the touchpads in modern combat 2, it gives me FC, same thing in rainbow six and brother in arms
could this problem be kernel releted? because i always use lupus ics/gb v7 720p stock based kernel.
OR could apks of games be a problem, i downloaded tham all in one pack(gameloft games) and let them download their data over wifi.
Krisdee's hybrid ROM should have full working touchpads. Search it here on xda and try it. Anyway i don't think it's a kernel problem...

I just flashed it and tried modern combat 2 again, and still there is the same problem, when i play with touchpads, game forces close, now i'm spectic and i think that this isn't problem with ROM's, it's problem with me, but what i could do wrong ? fifa 12 and 9mm are fully working on touchpads, but all gameloft games don't work on touchpads, i tried to download new apks optimized for Xperia Play and still the same "force close" when touching the touchpads :/

Now tried 2.3.7 Gin2KitKat GB ROM and touchpads works in modern combat 2 and in brothers in arms 2 , maybe ICS ROMs aren't optimized for "some games"(like mc2, bia2 etc.) I didn't try mc4 but now i'll try it too to see if it's working on some ICS ROM on my phone, i reply when i test it.
And if you really need ics ROM you can try the multiboot.
