I can't seem to get it to work on any of the ICS roms, they all present the same behaviour ; face unlock works,shows up in security settings. However, when I try to set it up , the camera does not launch and so I'm just left with a silhouette of face which says "put your face here." and "show your face". I've tried darkforest ICS,CM9 and AOKP. I've done fresh installs from .62 each time i've installed them and i've flashed gapps before I flash face unlock.
EDIT- Currently trying out AOKP.
What about trying different kernels? When I loaded mine up I used the dark forest kernel and dark forest ICS and it worked fine.
I tried the same i.e. darkforest ics 4.1.23 with darkforest v7 kernel.but it didn't work for me..

Nope the kernel doesn't make a difference for me.
im using KA12 rom.. doomkernel ICS and face unlock works like a charm for me.. give it a try

For me in that way didn´t work, and with Darkforest rom also.

I can take pictures and skype with the front camera ; I've done fresh installs whenever I've installed a rom and it hasn't worked on 4 of the ics roms with different kernels... It refuses to even start on doomlords kernel with aokp where as on the CM9 kernel it pretended to be working =|.
Face Unlock worked for me after updating to the latest Darkforest ICS kernel (on the Darkforest ROM)

Nope still nothing. I've been flashing gapps first and then face unlock in all other roms but in this rom I tried it without any zips,just the facelock zip and just with the gapps - it wouldn't even start!
what rom are u using? darkforest come with face unlock and google apps pre installed.. im just flash kernel and rom via cwm..

The only things I did were:
- install Darkforest & DF kernel
- flash a gapps zip that didn't do anything
- Update to the latest DF kernel
And after updating the kernel, Face Unlock, 720p recording and panorama works!

Tried that combo, nothing. Darkforest didn't even start face unlock up...

hmmm... i don't think i have a ram issue, maybe its the internal memory but i use link2sd so i still have some mb (130 or so) or my sdcard which is only class 4?? I can't really tell T__T

I did that before but for some reason I can't root .62
NXT ROM 1.3 basband. 58 enhanced, LockedBootloader, game works normally, although i wuld like to overclock to 1.4-1.6 withouth unlock bootloader...
Have you moved the games to the sd card? If yes just move it to the internal memory

I'm already on an unlocked bootloader and I want to OC mine as well. I'd try that rom but will I have no issues if I restore my data from titanium backup?

Yeah, I'm gonna do that now.
Will now go back to stock ICS w/ doomV3 temporarily because of the new Adreno drivers.
I just hope It doesn't mess up my other games when I do a data restore on Titanium backup

Doesn't work on stock kernel right? i just tried and max frequency is 1024 ghz...
Is there any way to get ICS stock on r800x? I saw a lot of stock based ROMs but they were all only gsm. I don't care if service works just want a booting ROM. I know r800x didn't get ICS beta but are there any that work or have been ported. Thanks

You can already install ics. You just need to flash Doom's ics beta kernel then flash rom via CWM. The install process is the same as installing any custom roms into your device. You wont get phone service btw.

Try using whatever kernel you want, what is very important is that flash the correct FTF. Try using an R800x FTF and flash any kernel and ROM. Also you can try using a CDMA Neo L ICS Firmware (If there's any) and flashing it without the kernel, just flash an ICS Xperia Play kernel...
sadly there is no cdma version of neo l i think because i couldnt find one. Thanks anyway. (already used my 8 for today but ill thank you tomorrow. its free so why not )

A good bloatware removal app would be titanium backup, 'cause it let you choose which software to uninstall... An ICS ROM that is almost a clean rom, would be the Hybrid ROM by Krisdee...

All of the Verizon crap can be removed, the clocks calendar calculator the Google back up services for the contacts and the calender back up assistant Skype all of the games, the wallpapers just to name a few things I remove

My wifi will not connect, if there a fix? 2. I can't download anything with the stock browser, it immediately fails. Fix? 3. Is there A good daemon to control over clocking? 4. There aren't many gb roms for r800x they are all stock based but if you want ics or jb I would recommend cm9 for ics or slim bean or pac rom for jb. A gooz stock based gb rom is gin2 blur but id wait till the 22nd for that one because there will be a new update

Yeah I tried that, had the same problems though, and also every time I rebooted my user installed apps would start disappearing, leads me to think some of my problems must be kernel related. I want a gingerbread one, hows cm7? Does ask the gaming stuff asstill work with it?

hi there, first of all is this the version you are using LuPuSv6-GB-LiNaRo.img? because if so the wifi modules should be built in already, it also has a zip file that you can flash on the original post that will fix the wifi issue if not fixed i suggest go back to his original post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849536 and start from scratch. on rom to install if you want gaming theres jokawild and auroraplay if you want eye candy ui and pure smoothness theres gin2jellybean, there are also other good roms some for ics.. hope this helps a bit

Cm7 doesn't support touchpads. So you should flash lupus gb/ics its newer than lupus v6 and after flashing.make sure you wipe everything before installing new rom. But for gb id recommend gin2blur or uk rom but I prefer gin2blur. Its razr themed but.if you search ATTACKS themes you can flash whatever one you want because they're all smooth and for r800x

Yes they'd the one but I don't remember sting anything about wifi fix in the op but I'll look again, I'll look up those roms that were mentioned, sorry this is all new to me, I'm used to htc and being able to wipe system and install a kernel from recovery and not have to worry about bands and recovery and such, thanks for the help? What about the download issue with the stock browser?

Try using doomkernel I'm using it now and the wifi works fine. Also don't forget to wipe everything after flashing a new kernel that might be the problem.

That was probably it, and by wipe e every thing, you mean data, cache, and dalvik? Does wiping data remove recovery? And I need to do this AFTER I flash the kernel and not BEFORE?

Yes, and do it after flashing kernel because system partition sizes are different for each.kernel. and Wiping data does not remove recovery because its built in the kernel.

Wipe system is under mounts and storage. It says format system. But you don't need to do that.

i have just purchased an xperia play r800x from my local retail, my carrier is Appalachian Wireless, not verizon, my phone is stuck on 2.3.3, and i really want to update to ICS but im really not sure what to do, i paid the $15 fee to get my bootloader unlocked from alejandrissimo, nice guy i might add, and im really needing some guidance on were to go now, any help would be awesome, and im sorry to jump this thread but i really didnt think the forums wanted 3 or 4 post of noob questions like mine, i dont want to mess my phone up and i dont have insurance on it, thanks in advance
First you need to download the fastboot files from sonys website. Then find an ics kernel for play. Id recommend lupus. Then download an ics rom and put it on your sd card. Next put the kernel in the fastboot folder and shut down your phone and plug it in while holding the search button. Next type in the command for flashing the kernel in a command window (not sure what it is off the top of my head search in one of the kernel threads. Then unplug your phone and enter recovery.by powering on and pressing volume down. Choose install and pick the rom from your sd card. For more detailed instructions search how to flash rom ls and kernels. There are plenty of guides.

ok i have flashed the lupus kernel with ICS, i then tried to install CM9 and it error 7's on me, im not sure what CDMA roms i can use with this kernel? would you please give me a hint as to what roms i should be looking for ? i used cyogenmod on a nook color a while back and my wife loves it, so i thought i would give 9 a shot on my PLAY lol

Download cm9.1 from cyangon mods official website. Then try installing it using lupus jelly bean kernel. It has a setting for aosp ICS and should work for cm9. But if you want to play games on your play you should stick to GB ROMs because they are smoother than on ICS.

Im using vokals gin2jellybean rom for some time and never had any problems, but in version 1.9.8 I had a bug when I try to record my video camera freezes and led stays on until I reboot the phone.Second thing is I cant play a video It says that it cant open it, same with youtube "error playing video tuoch to retry".I updated it to the newest 1.9.9 RC-1 but the errors are still here.Can someone help me because its really annoying that you cant record or play a video.

have you tried clearing data for youtube? and what is the version of the kernel you are using if you are using the 420 p of lupus the gin2jellybean is set to 720 p recording but not quite sure because it usually force closes, also maybe try wiping dalvik cache.
I tryed that already still the same, I reflashed the rom and nothing, what is wierd is that even when I flashed stock GB I had same error.Version of lupus kernel is 480p and was fine before. Thanks for trying to help me I appreciate it.

well if thats the case it could possibly be the markers of the ftf you had previously flashed have you reverted back to the original image of your phone?
Im now on gin2jellybean rom, I flashed GB just to see is it the rom that's causing the errors.maybe on doomlords kernel it will be fine.il try that

there is a little bug. i mean no disgrace to the developer,
but i might want to add.
the microphone didnot work well. (wechat & talking tomcat cannot detect surrounding sound)
some earphone cannot be detect.
cannot video call(tango and skype).
other are perfect.=)

i m using doomlord kenerl+ics express rom ics.run great.
if u using JB, it eyecandy but got a lot bug.

That's a ROM bug then. Go with SlimJB, been using it for months and its perfect.

I running slimbean on 2nd slot, still the bug persist,
Can u make video call with slimbean? And play talking tom cat well?

Might be the fact it's on your second slot. I don't have those issues, so it could be that.
Well, I've actually had a video conversation on Skype on PAC Rom + turbo kernel 3.1 without any issue. Rom is in internal memory(1st slot).
I don't know about other issues mentioned as I'm only using microphone for Skype (rarely) and obviously I'm using it in-call

Ok, but it seem I could not find the answer why I got this problem, mine was pacman rom 1st slot, and slim bean 2nd slot, kernel turbo kernel v3.1 zeus.

its definitely not a Turbo Kernel BUg.. cuz am using it v3.1 on AOKP JB 4.1.2
and trust me.. its the BeST JB ROM .. the most stable we gonna have...

can u try webcam with phone using this kernel?
also try webcam with ur front camera, i m using tango and skype.
Can anyone know a solution pls.
I am unable to multiboot two or more then two roms on this kernel,
no matter which Rom GB or ICS or Jb it doesn't work. It's a kernel issue or something else.
I am using multiboot aware roms only.

download a new one of the rom(make sure it multiboot aware). and make sure the size of the zip is correct (something u will get a corrupt zip).
u should make a clean install,flash back phoenix vendor ftf. boot up. flash turbo v3.1 kernel back .wipe data,cache, system. and flash the rom again.
because there is no non such issue.

For every boot slot.. u need to set manually to GB ICS OR JB.. are you doing that ??
Yeah, I have done that (downloading new roms and the kernel again) and now the Rom (gb or ics any) in the first slot is working. But in the 2nd slot none of the roms worked. I read the multiboot kernel guide also.
Any idea for working rom in the 2nd slot.

What is 1st slot rom and 2nd slot rom? And tell me how did u install 2nd rom? What kernel u using(version) ? Did u flash the Phoenix vendor ftf?

First of all I flashed the phoenix vendor ftf file then booted my phone and after successfully booting it to stock gb I shut it off.
Then I have flashed the turbo kernel v3.1 and then went to recovery and wiped data, cache, dalvik cache and flashed the ics Rom (zip already present in sd card) in slot 1. Then rebooted and successfully booted to ics.
Then I again rebooted to recovery and created slot 2 for gb rom with more system & user data space. And wiped data, cache & dalvik cache. And flashed auroraplay rom and restarted BUT ON RESTARTING THE PHONE FREEZES at the boot. I have also waited about 15mins but no luck.
Details -
Recovery - turbo kernel v3.1
Slot 1 - ICS Rom
Slot 2 - GB Rom
SD Card - Class 4
Has anybody else got a problem like this.

Other than aurora gb rom. Did u try flash others rom?
