Have you tried both a GSM and CDMA model? I dont think that many people will have, definitely not in England or Europe as we only have GSM available (I think)
Therefore Im afraid I cant post a vote as I have never tried CDMA
Mark.

I use a CDMA and I'm voting GSM the battery life is proven to blow cdma away
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

I've used both and the signal strength and battery life on the GSM version blow away the CDMA version. The Verizon version has some serious signal issues.

So does GSM on 4.0.4.

Although, I am on 4.0.4 and....what signal issue are we talking about?

Yes, lets touch on that argument again, which means exactly nothing to the end user and only slight inconvenience to developers.
For a company that doesn't 'support' it for a developer device, it is interesting that they still offer up all the CDMA and LTE code in AOSP, even in 4.0.4. That and the Sprint version was added with 4.0.4.

...and the result is an abundance of FUD which has been debunked by el Goog themselves. The one and only implication is that no CDMA device can be technically "supported" as AOSP, as the basebands are closed source. The real world implication to devs and end users... nada.

CDMA because battery life/signal has been fine for me and 16GBs is not enough.

I'd say it's pretty much confirmed and should be released in the next few months when Sprint's new network updates are completed in those markets. For sure by June this year.
By then the sgs3 will be right around the corner making this nexus a bit outdated.

I will take either as long as LTE is available in Denver and St. Louis by then. Otherwise, sticking with my SGS2.

I know our phones won't support LTE, but will they benefit from the 3g upgrades?
I don't do a lot of video streaming so 4g really isn't a big deal for me. If I could forfeit the ability to use it for the $10 a month fee to be cut out, I would

Wondering if these speeds are normal on wind in Toronto area.
That upload looks horrible
Any better radio?

I ran a test last night after updating to radio UGLA4 and was getting close to 10 mbit down, 1 mbit up.
Before the update I was maxing out at about 5 mbit. I'm on Rogers, but the radio is still definitely worth a try.
No change. Thanks though

That is completely abnormal. Ice tested 4 different wind Sims and all of them have been well under 2mbps with 3 of them barely breaching 1mbps and average of around 200kbps up. Tested in Mississauga and Toronto.
I'm with Mobilicity and while coverage is less than with wind I typically get about 2.3-2.5 mbps/300-600kbps up

Try a different tower, try a different server, etc...
You're testing the tower you're connected to, the server chosen, and your phone. In that order.
and for a quick fix you can also call wind and ask them to send your phone a refresh code. Tell them you're not getting any data to avoid answering questions about why its needed and theyll likely do it on the spot. (doesnt necessarily mean this will work)
Also what signal dbm/asu are you getting when youre dl'ing at 600kbps

That's a little low is that four bars? I've still pulled off 1mb plus speeds at that signal strength but I'm typically around -81/16.
You should do what another poster mentioned and test different towers, inside vs out etc. Its also possible that wind is throttling smart phones in an attempt to stimmy data usage but that's just complete speculation.
Outside of trying new radios, or complaining to wind there's not much you can do when it comes to data speeds...there may be some kind of optimization code I don't know about but again, speculation.
I'll say again though that every wind sim I've tested in the gta has had atrocious speeds

Tmobile S3 vs International S3

So from what I know the international has a quad core processer ,less ram and no 4G LTE. The tmobile version also has no LTE which surprised me and it has a dual core processer with 2g of ram.
Also it seems the the international has a lot more roms and rom devs. So what is the honest diffrence cause im a little bummed and kind of wish that I got the international cause it seems to be more popular having more roms and a lot more variety. Also I wouldn't mind have 1GB of ram.
So just wondering whats the difference and is this no LTE thing really true? Also why is there so much more international roms?
Well for one I think you wouldn't get 3g speeds more like edge or 2g. But that the major draw back if you have WiFi everywhere you go 24/7 then you will be okay.

The international version has been out longer. All UK phones are exactly the same so they have more developers. The US has four separate phones on four different carriers so our devs are split up more.
Neither has LTE but neither does T-Mobile so that doesn't matter anyways.
The international version gets EDGE on T-Mobile because T-Mobile uses frequency bands that aren't used in the UK.

no man read the chart! the international GT-I9300 has the 1900MHz band, which is HSPA+ on T-Mobile's network. if you look at the T-Mobile Galaxy S III, SGH-T999, it also has the bands 1900MHz. T-Mobile just recently started the 1900MHz bands pairing with MetroPCS, and that's how my mom's International Galaxy Note N700 is able to have 3G and HSPA+ speeds in the U.S on T-Mobile's network.
and that, is also how the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 4 is able to be "Pentaband", also having HSPA+ speeds on T-Mobile's network, because they also have 1900MHz band.

Depressed about the Verizon abandonment for Nexus 4 thread.

I am sad. And alone, so very alone. Well I guess not that sad. But I think it's a bad move to not have a nexus device available on all carriers. Maybe a delayed release will occur?
Considering the small number of people on Verizon that would actually buy a Nexus 4 compared to the sales worldwide, and the disproportionate amount of hassle/hoops Google would have to jump through to offer it on Verizon, I don't think it's that big of a loss to Google.

I'm not surprised by the decision but I don't think it has to so with verizon's handling of the galaxy nexus other than the standard blocking of unlocked devices bit that Verizon does. I don't know if I want Verizon to change their ways there, google to work out an unlocked devices deal with them, or Google to give in and just sell a Verizon nexus verizon's way. I guess I just find all the cacophony of U.S. cellphone bands annoying. I could just about survive fine on lte only at this point with Verizon...if they get volte up and running and let me buy such a device. I suppose how unlocked devices will get on eventually...but it feels too far away.

I am relieved that Verizon isn't getting the next Nexus. Verizon's exclusivity and subsequent delay with releasing the Galaxy Nexus late last pretty much ruined the launch of the phone.
Many people had to resort to importing overpriced international models because no unlocked UMTS/HSPA was available in the USA for MONTHS.
Google is doing it correctly for the consumer this time. One phone running a global standard radio at a GREAT price.
I just wish I had $1000 laying around so that I could buy all of the devices they just announced.

Sorry that this seems irrelevant, but whats the number name of the Sprint variant? I mean like D801, D802, D803...
What are those called, specifically?
Thanks!

Just ran a speed test on my note2 before I go to sprint to get the G2:
129 ms ping, .47Mbps, and .66Mbps - let's see if the G2 can perform better I won't expect it to, but that would really be a nice surprise.
Anyone having LTE B25 connection issues?
I called Best Buy this morning to see where my phone is, they said it should ship today... He then asked if I would be willing to go to the store and pick one up instead. I said Hell yes, so I just got my confirmation that it would be ready today. Nice customer service for a change!
