I'd like to use an ICS ROM as my daily driver, however, I'm not sure which is the furthest along at this point in time.
For those who have tried any of them, which do you prefer?
Either cm9 a4 or evervolv if you want hardware acceleration or aokp (most features) I'd you don't mind not having hardware acceleration.

Hi, I also I have the same question, what is the ICS most advanced and with fewer errors for this phone, oh any rom with Sense 3.0 100% stable

I'm not sure what you're asking when you're comparing Sense 3.0 ROMs.
But as far as best ROMs I listed what I thought might be the best at this point.
I won't list just one ROM as the one with the most features may not be the best and I don't think there's one best.
As far as ROMs with HWA - hardware acceleration (needed for Chrome and a bit more smoothness is what most like about it) and stability and still having a lot of features that would be the CM9 build by drk.hd.
Evervolv is probably the simplest but pretty fast and stable but it's not released on xda.
AOKP is good and has the most features but as it has many features some do have bugs (feature bugs, not stability or reboot related bugs) on it and it doesn't have hardware acceleration so the accelerated UI and Google Chrome will not work on it. It may be more stable as it doesn't use hardware acceleration.
Been on Abduction ICS 2.0a9 for a week now. As a daily, it's been great. No crashes or lags, runs Chrome as good as the stock browser. Battery holds up well since flashing the Incredikernel test 6 with HWA. Same hitches as the rest, no video camera, but otherwise, smooth and solid.

My favorite is Evervolv, though I probably ran AOKP longer as Evervolv was pretty unstable when they first introduced HWA. I also ran MIUI a bit, but development on that had stopped for over a month (though it is going again now). I have not tried Abduction, and I jumped ship from the true ICS ROMs before CM9 was good enough to use as a daily. Keep in mind that everybody is using Evervolv's device tree anyway, so all of these ROMs have a lot in common as far as stability is concerned.
I loved the look and feel of ICS, the way it handles folders, and I especially liked the application switcher (long-press home). I gave it up, at least for now, because the camera is just too buggy. Something in the camera is leaking memory on all the dinc ICS builds, at least if you enable features like barcode scanning or video recording. Battery charging/unplugging reboots are also common across the board. But it was the camera and video camera issues that were the deal breaker for me.
But if you don't care about having more than just a basic camera, and can handle a reboot every once in a while, then all of these ROMs are OK. Evervolv has the best hardware devs, so they get the big fixes first. AOKP has the best feature development, and Abuction takes AOKP's features and puts it on top of Evervolv's latest developments. CM9 sticks with pure Cyanogenmod features. And MIUI is, well, it's MIUI. You love it or you hate it.

Hanger has been busy with life in the real world lately. He's still working on the next update in his free time. Until then, you can choose between 1.82 or 2.0a9 with HWA. Tried both and I was partial to the alpha with HWA.

I like abduction ics 2.0 the best. Though the battery life was never very good. The battery would drain when not doing anytjimg while i was at work. The video in cm9 is good until you skip ahead then the audio is out of sync. And i LOVE anthem 3.3 by PureMotive. Best battery of any rom. Serious. Like 20 hours moderate use with it. Its stable and perfect!!! Ics isnt ready for the dinc yet.....it needs more time to get everythimg right.

I was running Abduction for quite a while, and was suffering from alot of lockups. About a week and a half ago, I switched to CM9 alpha, and it has been running almost perfectly!
Well Aokp milestone 5 came out and it's hella stable and using the newest incredikernal it just can't be beat!

I really like CM9 by Kang. Its been super quick, good looking, and considering its in Alpha phase, fairly bugless for me.
I'm running the CM9 a6 by drk.hd with the incredikernel w/HWA and have been very impressed with how smooth it is running.
Battery life is OK but not great. If you are a light to moderate user, you could make the whole day no problem.
I have only had one reboot after charging, other than that and the known camera/camcorder issues, this ROM is golden.
You should actually try cm9 a8. It has working lockscreen shortcuts along with themes picker thing and it has working panorama with a really good camera its almost perfect.

I've been running/following the Abduction line for almost 3 months now. I really like the customization & features, but at a price. I do get some random locks, freezes and reboots, and the camera, flash and video are unusable. Battery life is pretty good (on the 1.8) Is the camera, video and camcorder fixed in CM 9? If so I may jump ship from the Abduction team.... since development has almost stopped and I feel it is more of a plug for the useless forum "Android Passions" which is a rule breaker right?

This ROM WILL NEVER BE THEMED, THERE ARE TOO MANY OUT THERE THAT ARE AND EASY TO ADD TO THIS ROM IF YOU LIKE THOSE THEMES I PREFER STOCK, THIS ROM WILL BE UPDATED ONLY TO INCLUDE NEW FEATURES, IT WILL BE OPTIMIZED. I ASSUME YOU BOUGHT THIS PHONE FOR PURE GOOGLE EXPERIENCE AND THAT IS HOW IT WILL STAY.
First get ROOT HERE
This is a ROM i put together, it is stock, zipaligned, deodexed with the battery fix that displays proper battery charging status. Included is netarchy's kernal 1.3.2 CFS. This was taken from stock rom so everything works. This rom is voodoo supported and all features work flawlessly.
THANK YOU TO NETARCHY FOR HIS KERNAL, COMBINED WITH THIS ROM GETS A QUADRANT OF 3103 WHEN OC'D TO 1.3 smartass
Make sure to wipe all, including delvik, cache, and data. Flash and enjoy. Also i get the best results when i set setcpu to 200 min and 1.3 max.
V_1 http://www.4shared.com/file/ZTt2qKd7/Gerbal_ROM.html?
***Just a word of advice, i seem to get no performance boost going from oc'd 1.3 to 1.4, i think it affects the governor in a bad way.
I have parted with my Nexus S 4G due to connection, reception, issues that I couldn't wait for sprint or Google or Samsung to address. I will update this rom with tweaks and such but the base will not but updated as i have returned to the Evo forums.
Updated the bootanimation in the rom..you will have to redownload and flash for it to take affect or download the bootanimation and flash via adb to /system/media
I'm getting the Nexus S 4G tomorrow and will be giving this a try. I'm coming from the Evo and I hope the Nexus 4G gets just as much love from developers as the EVO did. I doubt it, but thanks kpkimmel for the Rom. Like I said I will be flashing soon!
So how does the battery tweak work? I understand the 93% full charge is a safety feature. Does the tweak offset the numbers?
Yes, it offsets, so it should show 100%
Updated adfree to current host.
When you have a chance mind posting some screen shots? Thanks
Very nice, smooth and fast. I've been trying just about everything that's been coming out for the NS4G and this is one of the best. Thanks.

Yes it is, saw it on another rom and like it. Part of battery tweak.
I like this ROM, did a few adjustments with setCPU (posted a thread in General with my slightly modified advanced settings) and my battery is doing well. Haven't had this phone for more than 5 days, but noticed better results than other roms.
Clean, quick, and a job well done. Thanks!

I use Launcher Pro Plus, no issues at all. and in setcpu i have only one profile setup, its screen off max:400 min:100... any lower than 400 the screen doesn't turn back on.
same kernal included in rom (net's 1.3.2)
if you are having issues, try reverting to netarchy's stable release
i believe a BFS kernal is supposed to rid lag and latency, i dunno, i just use CFS, i feel its better on battery

CFS is better on bat, i havn't had any issues with the kernal provided but if you do have problems you can simply flash an alt. kernal.
thx for the quick response ev1. Ya I have tried the stable and beta builds and so far 1.3.2 CFS works the best on my phone. But any kernel I use I have lag from time to time.. I am starting to think its ADW EX issue now... FML I love it too.. Oh well I will try another and test out. But about to flash this ROM now to check it out. Thx again ev1 AND thank you for the work you contribute to the XDA community!! Much props.
Is there any way i can use the battery mod with stock rom? I'd flash this rom but i wanna stick with stock for a little longer since i just bought this phone.

If you want a stable rom, stay away from aosp and the new sense 3.0 roms. They are all ports, which means not everything will work correctly. The most stable roms are the sense froyo roms, like Myn's and mik.
Running Deck's 1.2t with Tiamat 4.0.4 kernel. It's AOSP and gingerbread based... and everything works.

I'm not ripping on CM7, actually I've been running it for 2 months now. I was just saying, its not 100% stable, and that's what it sounds like the OP wants. I still have gps bugs every day, random lockups, keyboard disappears and wont return until i reboot. All are minor issues to me, but to some people that may be a turn off.
I use godmode and GPS fix and the super charge script. I have no problems. none.

Best bet is try different things and see what you like.

MIUI is good for newbies, simple and clean. No 4G though. I use StiffSpliff's port on http://www.miui.us and I love it.
Currently running Deck's ROM. It is a slimmed-down CM7 with tweaks. A lot of fun, I must say, and he is a great dev and always willing to help.
Sense... bloated. But GingerAle works well, if you don't have a Novatech screen (full brightness issue). Sense 3.0 is still too buggy, until we get a source code release from HTC.
My eye is on the Droid X port....

I remember you As for roms, if you want to update prl, you nees to be on a sense rom. All 2.2 based roms work, myn's 2.2 is worth credit, along with kings' roms. As for sense 3.0, virus' port is good, but like all 3.0 sense roms, they still have their bugs.
This epic reply brought to you by none other than my roxx'd out Evo.
If you like sense 3.0 you might want to give MikG a go. It is sense 2.1 but has the 3.0 lockscreen with working icons and 3.0 mms. I have been running for a week now and and haven't had any problems at all. 4g, wifi, sms, mms, internet, all good on it.

I've had great luck with GingerDeck but it's a bit out of date since the Dev is working on ICSdeck (which is almost there, but still not stable enough for daily use as I found out). Now I'm running Condemned, which has been updated several times recently (last time being yesterday). I find the ROM very clean and stable.
Mikrunny is okay if you like sense 3.5 slowness and prettiness.
Mctwist sense 2.1/3.0 is nice if you can find a link.
Latest CM nightly for me. I try every rom, always find myself coming back.
here is an almost fully working miui v4 rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509512
yes that is an ICS rom, pretty nefty the camera isnt working completely right and there are a few bugs but works pretty well for a beta =]
I've rooted my epic with the rooted fc09 stock rom. Put a couple of tweaks in build.prop and tried the supercharger script, which was a disaster so I restored a back up. I've tried different launchers (twlauncher was fine, to be honest, but ended up with the FC problem that everyone evenetually gets) like Go and now FTL and ADW. But everything is really laggy and sluggish and it's really frustrating.
Didn't realize how little memory this thing has so it hovers in the 50-100mb free range, but I don't think that should be the problem right? I know it wasn't like this when I first got it and I've checked what's running and not a lot (I already killed the drm stuff, although I'd love to know how to get rid of media hub).
It seems the stock rom should be able to perform okay - this isn't a majorly used phone (facebook, messaging, web are pretty much everything it's used for), so, at least for now, I'd just as soon stay on rooted stock vs a new rom. And upgrading isn't happening for another 8 months. So...any suggestions or pointers from anyone??
Thanks!
My other Epic was very laggy with ADW so put Zeam on it and hadnto redo my GFs homescreens exactly the way they were....or else...lol.

Haven't tried any other roms yet, but I'll be damned if the ICS review doesn't look amazing. If I was going to jump, I'm thinking that might be where I'd go. Any quick big gotchas there?
I was also curious if you could expand on the ext4 unstable comment? Haven't had to do any battery pulls until after the supercharger script (don't know if the battery pulls are cause or effect in your comment). Also, I probably should have mentioned that this is BML stock (I realize I would have to "convert" to go to any other rom).

The battery pulls caused the unstable effect on EXT4 which was the knock on it. Not sure if you are on EXT4 or not pure stock is RFS. Beware of any ICS ROM's battery life isn't the greatest so if that is important to you avoid. They have come a long way with mods etc. but still can be a hassle. If you really want to jump from stock may I recommend CM7 great battery life and super smooth and fast
EDIT:
Just remember something about journaling on EXT4 off caused the unstable issue and on solved it? I think I still have the zips let me know if you want to try but you need to find out if you are EXT4 or RFS there is a command you can type in terminal but i can't seem to locate it at the moment.
Cm7 is really nice but I prefer ics to it, cm9 is really smooth and has almost if not everything is working, aokp has a lot of features and I prefer it over cm9 except the later builds have been sluggish for me. Right now I'm on paranoid android and its awesome, but its only on alpha right now so if you want everything working go with cm9 or aokp, or cm7.
I find the stock rooms were all sluggish though but I haven't tried one since ei22 so my opinion might not count there. Try em all qbking77 has easy to follow guides and if you find one you like stick with it
As much as I preferred the ICS of CM9, for pure speed CM7 under Gingerbread with Zeam launcher was my sweet spot for maximum speed.
Don't know if it was the wipe, the switch to MTD, or the switch to The People's Rom, but it performs much better now actually.

I vote all of the above but my first guess would be The Peoples Rom LOL.
I agree. I was on CM9 from its alpha days up until Beta 4. Amazing ROM, but it was never as speedy as the last MarcusantRom I was on prior to ICS. I closely watched the development of TPR by Kenny as I stuck with CM9. Performance was good, though it was slower than I wanted. Then I started getting annoying FCs on apps and would have to restart them. Plus I was on an old PRL and EI22 and wanted to update to FC09. So I decided I would make the jump back to GB, hoping to get back my speed.
Short story long, TPR is by far the quickest and snappiest Rom I've ever used. Not as feature rich as others may be, but I think that's a plus, because it has all the necessary tweaks to make it fly. And that's the beauty of Android. You can customize it to your heart's content.

Let's see!
I know you're working hard on it... I'm just being impatient.
The latest cm7 kang + v6 supercharger. Everything else stock, you'll be flying in no time.
Hey guys, I am a little new here still, I have done several roots on my E4GT bouncing between ICS roms before performing the manual official update last night. Now that the official update is out, are there any PURE Google UI themes that I can get for it? I just rooted FF18 and I would MUCH rather having my whole interface look like the AOKP ics roms. Any suggestions/links/info on any working ones?

From what I understand, it would be pretty hard to re theme everything
You're gonna be waiting for a while
Why not just use the new AOKP?
you will never have it looks just like Aokp or Cm9 but they come close.

If you watched any of QBKings videos you'd see that if your on Stock OTA FF18 that you can go into the SprintID and choose MyID and it puts it back to a Default launcher. Its not going to have the AOSP apps that i think are pretty awesome but it will have the regular launcher that IMHO is better than TW.
Your best bet would be if this theme gets updated to FF18 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506945
Or you can flash this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744538 Not everything is themed though.

Is the new AOKP stable and working 100%? I had a lot of problems before with it and I ended up going back to stock.
I am trying to build an AOSP rom for this phone. Hopefully me, and the awesome devs helping me, will figure it out soon.
Can't wait for cm9 to hit rc status

There are zero ROMs working 100% without bugs -- that includes TW and Stock ROMs. AOKP is stable enough to be a daily driver, in fact it's been my daily driver the last few months. I've been switching between AOKP and CM9 for quite some time now. There are couple nitpick items associated with AOKP and CM9 (just read the OPs for those threads), but for the most part, they are great ROMs.

I really like AOKP when I tried it a few weeks ago.
Is the GPS working now that the kernel is source built?

GPS was working fine when I used to use it months ago
I don't know if this is considered "Pure Google" but I've gotten this far without any ROMs.

I think he is referring to the fact that you generally had to flash back to GB to get gps lock then flash aokp; that is if you were having gps lock issues on aokp. Now that source is out, I'm sure that will go away.

There was a workaround for GPS by going back to stock Gingerbread and finding location before flashing the ROM.

i've been using GPS on AOKP since it was first released without having to first get a lock on GB. It's different from phone to phone.
