[Q] Skydrive - HTC One X

Has anyone had any problems with Skydrive? Worked fine until I started using Dropbox but now Skydrive files will no longer sync.

Same here ... ... I also couldn't sync my skydrive anymore after I've activated dropbox ... any idea's any1?

Dump SkyDrive go Dropbox

+1 for dropbox

Why can't we have both? I've already got stuff stored on Skydrive so would prefer to use that. Shame it's not as integrated as on Windows Phone.

This seems to be working again now, although it's slow to load up. I guess the OTA update fixed it.

Q: How do I sync "Notes" into device?

For many years, I have been a user of “notes” in WM devices. I now have accumulated quite a list of them and I use them routinely. They have always resided on an SD card which I swapped when I changed devices.
Has anyone discovered a way to get these “notes” into the new devices? A cloud-based solution is certainly acceptable for transfer of the data, but not for storage. I require device-based storage for almost everything as I spend a lot of time removed from any source of connectivity.
Thanks!
At the moment, there currently is no way to sync files other than media (photos, music, videos, podcasts, which are sync'd through the Zune software).
You can however, store your file online (such as through SkyDrive), and then download them using the phone's web browser. When you download files from the web, they certainly get stored somewhere, but since there is no file browser, you can't browse to a directory and tap the file to start it. For example, when you load a PDF file from the web on your phone, it gets downloaded somewhere, but if you decide to look at the PDF again in the future, you can only access that from the Adobe Reader app, where it gets listed until you decide to remove it.
That being said, I don't think that Windows Phone supports the old Windows Mobile Notes files though, so I'm not sure how you would view them on Windows Phone 7.
An alternative would be to convert over to OneNote and use the online syncing capability (which rocks). Create your notes on your desktop, online, or on your phone and they can automatically stay in sync with each other.
I am not quite sure if you mean this but if you go to office then onenote and then press all you can sync them.
I only used office 2010 for some months, but I think you can create a online link and connect it to your phone.
The data is stored on the phone and if you edit something it will be synced the next time if you are online.
I hope i helped as i am not quite sure myself and I am waiting to get office 2010.

It's pretty easy to set up skydrive to sync with OneNote on your phone. I used cut and paste on my pc to copy my notes from Outlook to OneNote on my browser (skydrive), then synced the phone. Now any changes to the notes - made either on the web app or the phone - get synced automatically. Very convenient after all the initial copying.
another vote for oneNote, the default notbook works great, in system settings go to applications > onenote and slide the sync slider, they'll give you more info, read it, they won't tell you again.
I also setup a second notebook to share with a business partner on my PC, the link showed up in my ME tile, I clicked it out of curiosity, now it's synced too!
+1 for one note, a very convenient solution, not something i had used before now, but i am becoming increasingly reliant on it!

[Q] Titanium Media Sync. Thoughts?

Title says it all. I was wondering if anyone has used the new Titanium app. Media Sync and what you liked or didn't like? Is it worth it? How is the battery drain using it?
Surprised that no has responded to this..
mmm... will have to try it myself
I'm using it but on milestone.
Seems good, works well for continuous remote backup of specific folder I,e, photos.
Apparently cannot set folders to continually synce down from the cloud though which is annoying as I wanted to leave it downloading videos from my desktop as they are converted while I sleep saving me from manual transfer time in the morning.
Bummer.
Works well
I'm using it on CM7 modded HTC Desire.
Works well.
Not a battery drainer because you can set it to sync only when you are powered, (or not if you prefer).
Syncs to FTP and Dropbox. I tested both and it works.
'Set it and forget it' (and if you want you can even turn the notifications off.
Worth the $.
Regards,
Jan
Great app but does anybody know if it is somehow possible to limit the upload bandwith?
Thx!
I just tried out Titanium Media Sync (on HTC Desire) and was annoyed to learn that you only have limited options for the sync (currently "continuous" and "single one way"). I needed the app to upload (and unload) photos and videos from the device to a network location, ultimately to free up space on the device. However, with the continous sync, any files deleted on the device will result in deletion on the network as well; which does not provide much of a backup.
I ended up with Syncness, which is exactly what I needed. You can even configure it to sync only with specific networks, at specific hours of the day, only at A/C power, etc. (the latter is in all fairness also supported by Titanium). I can even save original file dates/info to the remote location.
Titanium has a nicer user interface but that's not worth much when the program doesn't do what I need it to do.
/Jakob
Syncness and Titanium Media Sync are not the same!
Syncness supports Dropbox & Windows Share (Samba) networks and works ONLY while connected to WiFi, while Titanium works on both 3G & WiFi and supports Dropbox, FTP, SFTP, FTPS servers.
It's really a shame that Titanium doesn't suport two-way sync.
I would really like to see a whole package sync
I just got titanium media sync but i have trouble adding my adrive account to it. CAN ANYONE HELP ME HOW TO DO IT???
Thank you!
I am trying to decide between Syncness and Ti media sync right now. Basically want this to automatically sync my external and internal SD cards to my PCas a backup in case I lose my phone.
I like that ti media sync can do this without being on the same network since I do have an ftp share. How reliable is it? Seems none of these sync apps are considered very reliable. Does it have to run all the time or can you set it to only sync at a set time?

Thanks. Are you running your FTP server on a PC? I set my Windows 7 PC up as a FTP server. When I drag a folder from local to remote, it says failed to create folder. Any idea what the problem might be?
Pete
I've been using Titanium Media Sync (TMS) for some time syncing one way continuous via FTP to my Windows 7 PC. I've encountered a real nuisance which I hope is solvable. Basically the phone and PC are always on the same LAN, but the LAN may change from time to time when traveling. I've found no easy way of modifying the account with new IP address of PC. The PC does have a name on the LAN. I'm wondering how to specify the name (within TMS) instead of the IP address. That way the phone would always find my PC. At the moment, I must delete all the sync'd folders and the account and start over with a new account and set of folders. This also requires deleting all the previously backed up data from PC. There must be a better way! Suggestions appreciated.

[Q] Directory Sync App

I've got a Galaxy Nexus and I love the phone. The dilemma I am in is this. My desktop at home and my laptop all have pictures on them. Pictures that I would like to keep sync'd on my Nexus.
Does anyone know of an app and accompanying Windows or Mac software that will keep the three directories sync'd up?

I use Google Drive to sync files between my computers. Then I use FolderSync to sync those files to my phone overnight, while my phone is charging and on wifi.
I've trying to find a FolderSync type app for Windows, so I didn't have to use a dedicated dropbox or gdrive folder, but no luck yet.

[Q] Samsung GS3 Rooting Questions from a Noob

Greetings,
I am about to root my Samsung Galaxy S3 after that option was suggested to me by DocHoliday77 to address a problem with my media player on my phone. After looking at the procedure for rooting using "Odin", I feel reasonably confident in attempting to root my phone. Before i take the plunge, I have a few questions:
1. Will a rooted phone still be detected by Samsung Kies?
I sync my files using Samsung Kies.
2. Will Odin work on Windows 8?
I am about to update to windows 8, so I would like to know if should root my phone before or after I update to "8"?
Thanks all in advance.

Stop. The only thing worse than Kies is iTunes. If you tell us what you are syncing, I'm sure we can provide a better way,

Don't see why it wouldn't, but I have no intention of ever "upgrading" to it, so am currently, and for the foreseeable future, unable to test this.
Also, Odin will not work with Kies running. Either you need to force it to stop, or better yet, ax it!
There is almost no one here who likes kies and uses it by choice! To each his own, but imo kies is a horrible piece of s...oftware!
I cannot attest to win 8 either. (My upgrade was to format Windows 8 and install Win 7!)
But Odin should work. Try using win7 compatibility mode if it gives you trouble. Id just do what you need to do before you move to 8 though.

I was never an apple fan so I am in your corner on that one. I have had very few issues with Kies. The primary items I sync with are:
Outlook Calendar and tasks,
Contacts,
podcast.
I would especially like to find a way to sync "S memo" (which I have to admit I have not found a way to do even with kies). I also will mention that kies did not back up my files and info, so I lost much of the fine details with my contacts and calendars (sucks trying to match the pictures with my contacts). I attribute that to most of my info being stored on my SD card instead of the internal memory of my phone. I am fortunate in that much of my info was stored on outlook and my Google account (as well as Advance Mobile care).

Opinions seem to vary with Win 8, but I am reasonably comfortable taking the plunge with that upgrade as well. I had a chance to play with 8 on some display models @ Micro center and Tiger Direct. I have been assured that any software running on 7 will work with 8. As far as I know, there is no compatibility mode in win 8. I was hoping that There is someone with some hands on using "Odin" on a Win 8 OS.
Thank you for your speedy response and input.
I'm not sure about a syncing tool that'll sync smemo. But ill look around.
For contacts, regardless of how you backup everything else, I find exporting to a .vcf is a wise thing to do. Importing the .vcf is just as easy.

Greetings DocHoliday77,
My win 7 was corrupted when I was downloading some files to the point that I had to format my Hard Drive, and reinstall Win 7. Unfortunately, the only copy of win 7 for my laptop was on a flash drive and the flies on that have been corrupted as well. My decision came down to another win 7 Ultimate, or Win 8. If I am not mistaken, 7 went through its share of growing pains as well. Right now I am using another copy of Win 7 home premium that has been activated on another PC. I have 30 day to activate it, so now i am down to about a week. As I have mentioned on a previous post, I don't think win 8 has a compatibility mode, but right I don't have any applications that need to be installed or running in compatibility mode. I was assured that anything that is running on 7 will work on 8.
I only run Kies when I want to sync information that I stored on my laptop, otherwise kies is not running. I would be interested in some alternative software that will sync my GS3 with outlook 2007, contacts, podcast, and especially S memo. I have not had the misfortunes that others have had using kies, but then again that maybe due to my using it only when I need to sync my phone.
I am probably going to do as you suggested and root my phone under Win 7, then install Win 8.
Thanks much for your quick response and input.

As far as syncing my contacts is concerned, I seem to be having good luck using outlook 2007. My info is also backed up on Advanced Mobile care as well. The drawback is that no pictures associated with the contacts are saved. I have saved some of my contacts using ".vcf" cards. Is there a way to save groups of contacts using vcf cards?
What is a good app to use to sync outlook to Google Calendar? Now that calendar sync has been changed, I am looking for an alternative, especially to sync outlook to Google. I am thinking about syncing outlook to google, then google to my phone.
Thanks much for your help so far...

You need to let Google do the work for you. You are doing everything manually.
Use Keep instead of S Memo (there are literally an uncountable number of apps like this that automatically sync), use the Google calendars instead of Outlook, merge all of your contacts into your Google account (should be an option in the Contacts app). As far as calendars, I'm not sure if there is an app that can directly transfer them, but a Google search could yield some answers.

Greetings Aerowinder,
Thank you for your input. My Phone Explorer is a very good Software Application to sync Outlook to my phone. The only problem is that it doesn't sync outlook task. What is nice about Outlook is that everything I needed is integrated into outlook. Google Sync was the one app that linked outlook to my google account. My phone explorer is very close in that it sync outlook to my phone, but doesn't sync outlook task. I could attach S memo to my task and/or Calendar for my SIII. I may (reluctantly) re install Kies so I will be able to sync all of Outlook to my phone. I am open to any suggestions to address my issues and request. Thank you for your request and suggestions to date.
Update:
I descovered that the app that I use to sync my phone to outlook (MyPhoneExplorer) does have task sync function. The task sync function is different from the task function that is intergrated into outlook. The task feature for "MyPhoneExplorer" behaves more like a pop up reminder that doesn't allow the option to edit from the phone. The task can be seen, but not accessed from the phone, and is not integrated into outlook. Any changes that need to be made to the task will have to be done from the PC.

Question Sync wirelessly photos

I just bought the Samsung S22 Ultra thinking I would be able to sync my photos wirelessly on the fly. We have Link to windows and Dex but I don't think it's possible to sync photos with any app on the fly. I have a 4 terabyte hard drive and I don't understand why synchronization can't be done automatically? If it were possible, then I would just go into Photoshop and start processing images that would always be in the same folder on the PC and I wouldn't need to manually do any copying.
What are you trying to sync with?
You can sync your photos using Onedrive via the Gallery app or sync with Google using Google Photos.
If you use Lightroom and Adobe CC you have to add them to an Adobe CC gallery.

I wanted to have photos that I took with my mobile phone synced with my PC so I have the same photos all time in my PC.
I'm an engineer and I take about 10 photos per day and I don't understand why I can't have those photos automatically synced on my PC when I get connected over WiFi in my office. Why would I manually copy these photos. It's an unnecessarily action.
Why would I use Onedrive when I have unlimited space on my hard drive in my PC? Maybe I have very sensitive photos that I don't want to sync with Onedrive?
It's so simple thing that it can't be achieved by phone that cost 1,300 euro.
If there is a such app I would pay that even 100 euro. It would be a stupid app that everybody must have.
The phone won't automatically sync with a PC (at least not with non-Samsung PCs). You will need to sync via a cloud service like OneDrive, Google Photos, Dropbox, Etc. You then access them via your PC.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy Book laptop, then you can send photos wirelessly, but I don't think it's automatic.
I use OneDrive and configured the Gallery app to sync with it. When I take a photo Gallery uploads it to OneDrive, which I then can open it on any of my devices that I have; which includes a Dell Inspiron desktop, Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 1, and a Galaxy Tab S7.
Microsoft Phonelink will also allow you to access your photos directly from your PC, but you have to configure Link to Windows to pair with your PC.
You can configure Gallery to sync any folder that contains images, including RAW dng images.

There is an app called foldersync pro. I've been using this app for more than 4-5years. It works perfectly for your needs. You can setup scheduled syncs, immediate sync, two-way or one-way sync etc.. It's a very stable and reliable app. It'll do a CIFS based transfer. So as long as you setup a network share folder on your PC, you're all set.
I have a sync setup to clean up the directories of interest on my phone and upload it to my local server and then I access the content from plex!
Cloud sync is not so good. Because large files are compressed and quality is lost. Especially for videos. Or you must pay extra for more cloud space. The best way is direcr wi fi comunicatiom between PC and phone. Windows phone app is good enough and stable.

Not true. I sync using OneDrive and there is no compression. Neither does Google Photos nor Lightroom.
