[REVIEW] Ballistic SG Case (UPDATE)

UPDATE:
I have seen a lot of questions about people seeing this case with out the lip portion which is on the top right of the screen. I just found this case on ebay which is half the price and does not have the lip.

Ballistic SG Case for T-Mobile
I just saw it on eBay and it looks like a great case for protection.

Just recieved it today. I like the way it looks but it has a couple of drawbacks.
Pros:
1) Pushing the volume or power button is the best I have seen yet for the T-Mobile GS2 cases. Very fluid just like there isnt a case and the buttons make the natural noise that they make just like not using a case.
2) Seems to be the best protection I have seen for the GS2. I think it will handle a drop very easily.
3) I dont have a screen protector but the way this is designed I dont see how this case would cause any issues like the D30 cases do due to a tight fit. Its somewhat loose and should not cause the corners of a screen protector to lift up.
4) Has a great feel to it and adds some weight to the phone.
5) Protects the back camera perfectly.
6) It does add some thickness to the phone but this is because the phone is extra protected. I would say it is about 1.5x to 1.75x as thick as the phone without a case on it.
Cons:
1) The first layer is rubber and due to this fact it has a few issues.
2) Collects lint easily from your pocket.
3) Can be difficult at times to put in and out of your pocket due to the rubber.
By far though this is the best case I have had for a phone. I own a couple of TPU cases for the T-Mobile GS2 and a D30. It makes the D30 look like junk even though the D30 is a great basic case.It has some drawbacks but the pros outweigh the cons. I definitively recommend this case to anyone that wants the ultimate protection for their phone and doesnt mind cleaning the lint off everyonce in a while. If you like my review please give me a thanks.

just saw one too. didnt kno that they started to make them yet. their a little bulky for my line of work. and since im a student im not really in the situations where is need THAT Much protection....but do a review if you get one.

Highly recommended. Fits perfect. Buttons easy to push. 2 pieces, inside rubber and outside hard plastic. Hasn't bubbled up my zagg yet. All holes line up as they should. Looks super cool. A++++++. I have to say yes... I'll take measurement tmrw but the corners are thicker than all of it. Its still not bad. Fits in my pocket n like how it feels in my hand ... I like the texture of back compared to the d3o.
To be fair, the rubber corners will pick up lint just like vibrant otter box. This thing is maximum protection...

i agree, i like the idea of the full protection but this case makes to phone wayyy to bulky, i feel like im carrying around one of those old ass phones that looked like bricks. haha

Thanks, got one on order. This will be my 4th and hopefully final case for this phone, I am a fan of otterbox so I think I will like it. I started with the black bodyglove from tmobile, not a bad case but a pain in the ass to take of so I got one of the clear TPU cases from ebay and its a great case. And then the D30 came out so I exchanged the bodyglove for it, had to take it back because it fit like crap, the next one fit 95% better but is still uneven around the edges and for a $25.00 piece of rubber it should be perfect like the $7.00 one from ebay.

The first D30 that I got was from T-Mobile. That one fit perfectly, just didn't like the way how the button press felt. So then I also got a TPU case from eBay. Next thing T-Mobile gave out the cases so I picked it up, returned the original one I bought at T-Mobile store, but then the one I got from T-Mobile online, it fit 95% and was bubbling up my Realook. I was hoping for a Seidio case to come first but since I've heard good things about Ballistic case, I gave it a shot. Waiting for it to come in the mail now.

Oh yeah, that was the other thing, the buttons. Volume not too bad, power button was a PITA on the D30.

I have this case it's excellent. Fit is very good and it's very light. The sides have a little texture which makes it easier to grip and the button covers provide just enough resistance that I no longer have pushes happening when it's in my pocket. I was skeptical when I ordered it but I really can't think of anything I'd change about it - it's a fantastic case at a ridiculously good price.

I got mine about a week ago. Paid $1.99. Absolutely the best case for that price! Nice and snug with great texture on the sides for grip. Highly recommend!

Its the case Im rockin right now and it feels nice. Obviously it doesn't make a huge difference, maybe its in my mind, but i even removed the battery cover. Just my phone and the case. Works nicely on heat too

Wonder how this one stacks up against the $10 one from Diztronic? I have that model and it's also a pretty nice case. Think I'll go ahead and jump on one as well. But I'm still looking for something in the Aegis/Commuter range for protection. Anyone seen either of these two floating around? For some reason, I'm just not feeling the Case Mate offering. Maybe I should re-think that!

Looks identical - I expect they all come from the same factory in any case. But why get it from amazon for $7.50 when you can get it on ebay for $2?

Just ordered my Epic Touch from Amazon yesterday (upgrading from an Evo 4G).. figured at this price, it'll at least be good enough to use until I find one that I like better... if I dont like this one

Whoo got the the case today and it feels amazing on the hands.
I sometimes think the phone is to thin and I can't grab it so well. I have used it for an hour now and I could already feel myself enjoying using my phone alot better.
The phone has some grooves on the sides that feels pretty snug and some what rugged.. Maybe it's so it doesn't slip out of your pocket. Which will benefit me since I use the phone for music and the gym alot.
Now I can lay my phone down on the counter with worrying about scratching the screen or the camera

REVIEW: Spigen Ultra Thin Series

Normally, SGP makes very high quality products and I was excited to see they had an orange case! Long story short, I ordered it and it was AWFUL. It does NOT fit the phone. I have some pictures attached - enjoy my white, hairy leg on one of them. I don't have much to say about it so I'll break things down quickly.
PRO'S:
Thin
Lightweight
Incredible Packaging
CONS:
Doesn't Fit
Feels extremely cheap
doesn't cover bottom or top of the phone
Did I mention it doesn't fit?
Picture's 1 & 2 are of the offending side of the case while Picture 3 shows the other side fitting perfectly.

Maybe you just got a bad one? I just put my silver Ultra Air on and I don't see what you're seeing in yours. Mines is a good fit

Always a possibility. Sent it back anyway

I should mention that I am using a glass screen protector but doesn't appear that the protector and the case even interact with one another so I don't really feel that is the issue.

Terrible news. But I'm still going to take my luck and buy it, it's one of the only cases that actually make the phone look better.

Has to be a defect, all my SGP cases fits like glove. They are really good with replacing defective items, you should try to get replacement instead of saying "Do NOT Buy".

I received mine the other day and am dissatisfied with the fit. The left side is loose so it's not usable. I contacted them about sending it back. Pretty disappointing.

I was thinking about getting that, especially since they have an orange case. I have loved all of their cases. Great product. I purchased the Urban Gear case instead, which is really nice as well. Also, use the code FREESHIPPING and you'll have it in 2-3 days according to their website. I'm sure this is a Labor Day event.

Ya. Im really getting upset with Spigen lately. Their cases look so nice. I had the Glas screen protector and all it did was collect dust/hair on the sides of the protector so I removed it. I ordered the Neo Hybrid and the volume buttons wouldnt work, exchanged it and thankfully the new one worked. Now I order a mint green Ultra Thin case and the stupid thing doesnt fit, it is so loose on the left side. How does a company let so much garbage get to their customers? I mean, they do have a good customer service, but shouldnt someone check these things before they ship!?!?!

Oh and before you criticize me, Ive NEVER returned a case/accessory before dealing with Spigen. First time having a problem with a phone case.

Sgp customer support is really failing.. They don't even answer questions about their products via email or Facebook.. If my neo hybrid doesn't work properly when it arrives it will probably be the last product I'll be buying from them.

This seems to be a recent phenomenon. Maybe they are getting overloaded with all the defective products for the SGS3? They've had to redo screen protectors and discontinue products. I emailed them asking if they've made changes to the Neo Hybrid because of the button issue - no response yet. Sort of a shame that they are continuing to sell these things when the reviews on their very own site all say there is a defect. Hopefully yours will be the exception.
I've actually had better experiences with Cretouch, they seem to be on top of things and speak on behalf of SGP in a much quicker fashion.

[Q] Anyone know of a clear (not smokey) TPU case?

I love the faux brushed metallic finish on the back of the titanium Note II, and while I have to have a case to protect the phone, I want to be able to see that nice design on the back. What I'd like is a clear TPU case that I can see the back of the phone through, but most of what I find either has some sort of plaid design, or has a smokey/blurry finish to it. Here are some examples of what I've found so far:
A little hard to see, but the back cover is not perfectly clear, so the back cover will likely not show the brushed design.
This one is plaid, but seems to show that a clear case is doable.
This one may be the best one, but I'm not a big fan of the X
Anyone have any ideas? The other issue is most of the sample images use the white version, so it's hard to tell how they'll look on the titanium model. Thanks for your help!

You could try a zagg full body cover I've used them on other phones. Doesn't add any bulk and definitely protect against scratches. Not much shock absorption though lol.

I bought a half clear and half blue transparent case thats got a kickstand. Its pretty nice and the back is clear and the blue parts are very nice light blue color. It cost all of 2.97 on amazon!
It was made by a company called fomson? Forson? Something like that. Just search for note 2 cases on amazon and theres lots of varieties...and they are dirt cheap. I bought another just because it was so cheap.
Ill never buy those expensive 30 dollar sprint store or best buy 25 dollar ugly black cases.
Or an otterbox......ew I hate those...

This was the closest thing I could find on Amazon, but again, notice how the case makes the back look silver, instead of making the brushed design visible.

I was looking for a clear one too, but after some looking and reading, gave up. Lots of the cheaper ones are reputed to get all yellowish and gross looking rather quickly.

Do either of you have the titanium Note II? If so, does the pattern show up with this case? Also, is that completely TPU, or is it hard plastic on the back? I'm worried about the impact resistance on the hard plastic cases.

It's looking more and more likely that this is going to be my route as well. I've even looked for the bumpers, but even they all have a 2-tone look.

You can see the pattern somewhat. However its only visible if youre reallu looking up close. Its clear but its just not that clear. I think you want something else

Lets annoy the crap out of Urban Armor Gear until they make a case for us!

I don't know how many of you guys are aware of UAG, but they make HANDS DOWN the best cases. I reached out to them a week or so ago and they said they have no plans on making a case for the Moto X. That needs to change. We all need to pester them on Facebook and through their website so they can see what kind of demand there is for a case for the Moto X, and I wish to enlist all of you to help me in my quest.

Picked one up off of eBay for 29.99. I had a Trident Kraken on the GN and enjoyed it. Cases are built well, and offer good phone protection.

That's a slick looking case, especially in blue. Is it as bulky as it looks though?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on both hands. Loved that case on my s3. The white version reminded me of a storm trooper, and the olive green reminded me of halo lol

I don't think we have anything to worry about. When you put their response in context with the email I sent them, it's a pretty surefire thing. I rocked the white on my iPhone 5 and on my HTC One, and I will certainly be rocking the white on my Moto X.
Here was my email to them-
I know I have asked you guys on Facebook if you were planning on making a case for the Moto X and you said no, but I was hoping you guys have taken note of the growing popularity of the phone and possibly reconsidered. I really think you guys will sell a lot of them, considering you make hands down the best cases on the market. Last time around I did a review of your case for the HTC One on xda developers (_MetalHead_) and it was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. Many people purchased the case after reading that review. I will gladly do another review of the Moto X case, should you decide to make one, and I guarantee we will get the same reaction. You guys make a wonderful product, you just need to expand your offerings to cover more devices. Lets start with the Moto X!

So. I was poking around on their site and I found their newest iPhone 5c case: http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/products/maverick
I do not doubt that there will be, at least, this version for the moto x. Since we have multiple colors, they will look for the most cost-effective way to make a matching color scheme for the case. The best option would be to make a clear one. Although I would most definitely choose white again, I will gladly settle if they only release a clear version.

God I hope that's not all they give us. I NEED a Navigator for my Moto X. I am not a fan at all of the clear one, it completely defeats the industrial aesthetic of their standard case.

Well I am coming from the GNex with extended battery plus Kraken case. That was a pretty bulky phone not gonna lie as you had a layer of TPE followed by the hard plastic. The Cyclops on my X still feels pretty awesome without ungodly bulk, It still is overall a rather thin phone, and I think it fits better in my hands as I have big hands.

I ended up buying a blue one and it came yesterday. It's a decent case but it does add a little too much bulk for my liking. I do like how it maintains a semi-thin profile but I don't like how wide it is. I'm probably going to use it while at work for now, but once the UAG case comes out then it'll probably get tossed in a drawer never to be seen again.

I know the feeling as I have 3 or 4 rugged GNex cases laying around trying to find the right one. I will definitely be trying out the UAG case whenever it hits the market. I just went with the Cyclops as I don't use Otterboxes, and that was about the only rugged case outside of Ballistic. My profession require that I have a rugged case and screen protector at all times.

Me too. I love UAG cases. I have one for my Note 2 and used the holster from Seidio Convert add-on kit.
