I've got a functional dual stack network where my old stock HTC Desire happily worked with IPv6. For the life of me however I can't get my One X to use IPv6. Now, I'm not using any DHCP server for IPv6 since everything else (a couple of Ubuntu boxes, a couple of Windows boxes and the HTC Desire) works just fine with the auto-config.
Using the MyIPv6 app from the store shows that the wlan interface has a private IPv6 address, so it's obviously IPv6 capable. The question is - how do I get it actually using IPv6?
Thanks
A link local IPv6 address doesn't really mean anything, just that ipv6 support is compiled into the kernel.
How is your network assigning IPv6 addresses, DHCPv6 or Stateless auto configuration?
Edit: And I fail at reading.
HTC probably forgot to enable auto configuration. You could try adding a DHCPv6 server to your network, but chances are you will need to fix this via root.
Confirming that IPv6 doesn't work properly on the current One X firmware if you're using stateless auto config. No idea if DHCPv6 works or not.
Darn, I'll have to try to get a DHCPv6 server up and running, but I'll also raise it with HTC support.
Edit - doesn't look like it's working with DHCPv6 either
Case raised with HTC.
I have the same problem. This thread seems to be about everything there is written on this topic as far as google are concerned, are we really that special?
Any news on the case with HTC?
The response from HTC was basically "it works the way it was designed to work". It may be an ICS problem, or something else, but I'm not reassured.

Same issue here, IPv6 address not assigned. HTC support kindly suggests to do a soft reset and indicates a hard reset might work...
Software: 2.17.401.2
Router: FRITZ!Box 7360 (Provided by XS4ALL a Dutch ISP)
The following devices get an IPv6 address:.
Stock ROM:
Acer Iconia A500 tablet (4.0.3)
Nexus 7 (Android 4.2)
Samsung Galaxy SII (Android 4.0.4)
Samsung Galaxy SIII (Android 4.1.1)
I forgot to mention Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.2, just updated from 4.1.2
Please update this thread...

Hi.
Im having problems with email on my Desire. Everything was working OK but now it seems that my emails will only download when using wifi.
If i go to my webmail page on my phone i get an error "Web page not available" and "HTTP error code 504"
If i go to my webmail page on a desktop it appears fine
Not sure if this is:
a) Something I have done myself (I switched off data while on holiday recently)
b) Something that Froyo has done (unbranded Desire with Froyo update)
c) Something that T-Mobile has done (blocked certain sites ?)
d) Something that my email provider (Tesco) has done
All other internet browsing is fine - its just the webmail page that refuses to work. I have tried it with the stock browser and also Dolphin HD.
The email widget shows its trying to sync and then 'completes' and puts a completed time in .... but hasnt retrieved the latest emails
any thoughts please ?
OK - Same site is 'unavailable' on my wifes Wildfire.
Site is also available using wifi on my Desire
Rules out Froyo .....
Can a webiste 'block' itself from mobiles ?
Would T-Mobile 'block' a webmail site ?
Thoughts anyone ?
Site still works fine from a desktop......
lol... im the only one replying to my own query
update for anyone interested....
Tesco say their system is fine.
Been on the phone to technical support who are stumped .... as T-Mobile havent officially released Froyo they couldnt even escalate the problem (my phone was an unbranded upgrade through carphone warehouse)
Did a hard reset today and still no better (mind you the hard reset also screwed up my ability to receive MMS but i sorted that quickly - the T-Mobile setup didnt work right !)
so to summarise now - My POP3 email will receive quite happily over wifi but not by 3G, even the setup states it cant connect to validate when using 3G but the setup runs fine over wifi.
My webmail will load happily over wifi - but not over 3G .....
T-Mobile have now suggested I contact HTC support. Anyone got any experience of how useful they are ???
Maybe someone will have some hints for me soon otherwise i'll end up with a huge thread just from me
Hi guys,
I opened this new thread because I already tried the search tool, even the google search, but nothing came up for the Xperia Play.
My question is, is there a way to change the wi-fi MAC address on the Xperia Play?, the reason I want to do that is because I think somebody at my job blacklisted my device from the wi-fi... some co-workers can get into the wifi network while some of us don't.
All our phones detects the WIFI network, all of us have the password (ok somebody smuggled it for us heheh )
A month ago I was able to do so, and no problem whatsoever, then it just started to get stuck while obtaining the IP address, then, disconnects from the network and get into an infinite loop not being able to sign into the network, while my desk neighbor not so-smart phone (samsung marvel) keep getting connected using the same password, so my first thought was it was only blocking smart-phones by MAC prefixes or android signature ... whatever
But yesterday another co-worker brought his just purchased Samsung Galaxy PRO (which looks like a Blackberry, but running android ), and to my surprise he did got into the wifi network without any issue (using the same password I use and gave him for trial), so I'm now pretty sure they blacklisted by MAC address
Well I manage to convince my buddy to share the network via tethering as a work around, and IT WORKED.
Anyone have an idea if what I'm thinkind is possible (being MAC blacklisted) and also if there's a way to change it on my PLAY runnin Gingerbread 2.3.3 un-rooted with stock SE SW.?
Thanks
I'm not at the pc now. Search my posts for bluetooth address with references to pocketnow tutorial for different device. Maybe you can make it work on xplay. I got one step closer locating one of the address files in one of the posts but no further. Don't know if you can do it without root.
Sent from my R800i
dam it lol ill post it again later on
Thank you. If you know how to change bluetooth as well I will be very grateful.

Thanks guys, I will look for root then

Hi,
my provider (free.fr) activated one very good feature on his internet boxes => wifi secure
this way, each mobile client who are at the same company could connect to freewifi network without needing to give a pin or a password...
So if i'm at a friends house, and have NO 3G signal, i simply start wifi and it connects to his internet box with a specific IP adress (so the ISP can know if it was the user or a mobile user who did something in case of abuse)
that's for the cool part, this all works with EAP-SIM (so the simcard does the authentification)
that's the cool part
the less cool part => this feature does not seams to be in the actual high end nexus ?!?
whereas ihpones, blackberry or some other android devices (galaxy S) does this...
there is an issue request here and some guy told that this is a RIL problem...
now question:
is this really a RIL problem ? or does a specific ROM have the EAP-SIP option in the 802.1x EAP security menu ?
it is really a shame that the galaxy nexus who is newer and better than the galaxy S, does not have that kind of feature....
I think what you are looking for was originally called UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) and now called GAN (Generic Access Network). It allows you to make and receive calls using your normal mobile number, but over Wifi. I have not looked for any phone or apps that support the technology, but I think that is what you want to look for.

Nope, he's actually talking about EAP-SIM, which is an oft-requested feature on the Android Issue Tracker. Some phones implement it (the GSII does), and it's unclear to me what's needed from the RIL/baseband to enable it. IIRC there are a few mods to enable EAP-SIM on phones which had it disabled, it might be worth looking into that and see if a dev could chime in on the issue.
I think that this link could interests you:
code.google.com/p/seek-for-android/wiki/EapSimAka
The devs need to add this to their roms...

My point is that EAP-SIM (and EAP-AKA for 3G) are used in UMA/GAN.
EAP-SIM on Galaxy Nexus
I would expect the high end Galaxy Nexus that is sold directly by Google not to have any RIL problem to communicate with the SIM, as it should be really UNLOCKED as advertised and even support different mobile networks.
I will get one and try the solution as reported on code.google.com/p/seek-for-android/wiki/EapSimAka
If as witnessed by the lack of response at code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9329 this is not a technical problem, but a marketing and/or strategic one I will complain with Google for advertising as UNLOCKED something that it is not, and request my money back.

I tried this patch on my rom oxygen on my htc desire but it didn't work. Can you tell us if you success or not ? Thanks.
Hi,
the last major update (not the last Google update) of my H815 led to the problem that the quick circle case stopped working. I contacted LG support and they suggested to factory reset my G4. I did so. Now the quick circle case works again ... but: I use a IPv4/v6 dual stack setup in my network and the G4 (5.1) (and also my G3 [5.0], LG tablet [5.0.2], Samsung tablet [4.2.2]) do not get a IPv6 address. My other Samsung tablet (4.3) works. Prior to the reset of my G4 IPv6 worked. My G3 also used to work but I don't know when IPv6 stopped working as I don't use it any more since I own the G4. All my other systems (Linux, Windows, Mac, cams, etc.) work perfectly in my dual stack environment.
Can some one else confirm this? Is this a common Android 5 problem?
I'm a bit desperate as several of my systems need to be reached by IPv6 to make them internally by the phone and by my IPv6 tunnel ...
TIA
@MOD: please delete this stupid post.
Was a coincidence of a firewall update with broken IPv6 advertisement.
My phone reboots itself right after establishing a connection to my L2TP VPN server. Does anybody have the same problem?
Additional info:
SoftEther VPN server
Protocol: L2TP/IPSec PSK
Connecting using IP address and domain does not make a difference.

I've already submitted two error reports with logs to Samsung via the Samsung Members app. Hopefully, they will fix this soon.
Perhaps you can also lodge an error report this way so more people can get their attention on this issue.
Me too. I bought a phone for works. But its so sh*t. I reported the log to SS for check and fix, but dont know how long I have to wait, they dont give me a deadline.

This device is actual sh*t bro.
I tried 1st release of firmware, France, Singapore, India, Vietnam firmwares but it have same bug
Got a new OTA update today. Connecting to L2TP now crashes the phone INSTANTLY
This is bull****. Why bother promoting Samsung Knox and all these fancy TPM when the simple functionality of connecting to a VPN can't even be done?

My phone crashes after exactly 60 seconds after connected. SS didnt give me the direct contact of their technician, I can only talk to the telephone supporter, they dont know anything.
The latest firmware (May Security Patch) fixed the vpn.

Thank you for informing. Can confirm that it works now.
Yep it works. Only bug I see is that there's no white text showing when entering the text fields in a VPN Profile with the Night mode on.
Set phone to Night mode, go to VPN and Add a profile. You can't see what you type. White theme is fine. If anyone has any contacts, report that to Samsung please.

Is the L2TP/IPSEC PSK VPN connection working for some of you?
I have tested two A50'S (A505W) and they both reboot 60 seconds after the connection is established. Latest update is February 1, 2020.
Connection is created and seems fully functional (as much as I can test in 60 seconds) until phone reboots.
I am connecting to a Ubiquity Edgerouter ER-6P. iThings and Windows 10 clients are connecting fine.
I have sent crash reports in to Samsung and communicated with support staff. I haven't been able to communicate with anyone able to say they use L2TP/IPSEC PSK connections successfully.
Seeing this thread gives me hope it can be made to work.
Any tips on getting the A50 to keep the VPN connection would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Just connected (and browsed web a bit) to a Ubiquiti ERPro-8, L2TP, no reboots. Update is the februar 2020 one.
Are you perhaps running 2.x firmware on Edgerouters? I've been avoiding it, since they have up to 15% performance degradation and other bugs. The ER I connected to was on 1.x.

Thanks for checking... both A50's I tested reboot 60 seconds after L2TP connection made. The ER-6P is running 1.10.10 firmware.
