Plenty of tethering data call on my tfp, file sharing between both devices, and when i can, i'll unlock my tfp, flash cm on it, flash cm on the nexus, and then i can adb either on the go! adb over network is a beatiful feature indeed.

[REQ] [MOD] Samsung Kies Air On Gnex

Any devs here interested in getting Kies Air to work on the Gnex?
- My understanding is that it should work with galaxy products. Yet, I am unable to install it. If you need the Kies.apk I will gladly upload it otherwise check out google.
I enjoyed this APK on my Galaxy S II from TmoUSA - Was hoping it would work out for my Gnex. - Not sure if it needs framework or just updates to internal code of the Apk.
What does it do?

The APK allows you to view files ect.. and sync via the samsung Windows $oftware. It also allows you to manage the phone via Wifi - thus no need for sync cable and so on. Its rather nice imo and well coded. I found very few issues with it when i have my SGS II.
Anyone had any luck with this? I liked the ability to manage my GS2 as well as send and receive text messages from my phone through my browser.
I would like to be able to do this on my Galaxy Nexus as well, I know its not officially supported but I figured the xda community would have a work around
Try Airdroid while waiting for Kies Air available?
I had no idea such a thing existed, fantastic!
thanks again

[Q] NFC on Galaxy S2 on ICS?

Hey guys,
I was wondering...when this phone finally gets the office ICS update..will it have the "android beam" capabilities that the Galaxy Nexus has? I don't necessarily mean having to hold it back-to-back with another phone to exchange information, but can we do information transfer simply with NFC? I've read online that it won't have those capabilities since it doesn't have "modern NFC hardware". But this surprises me and strikes me as odd...can anyone tell me what's what?
thanks!!
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SII
Running on 3.3, waiting on 4.0
SGH-T989
it's a build in feature of ICS, so yes
i'm also looking forward to Android Beam
in fact, that is the only reason i want to get ICS
otherwise i don't even bother
my current alternative is to use WiFi File Transfer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antosdr.wififiletransfer
or Bluetooth File Transfer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.medieval.blueftp

Tab mode

Has anyone tried this yet??? It's amazing on my Galaxy Nexus.

what do you mean, tab mode? via lcd density modder? or paranoid android??!
Any screenshots? What did you do to put phone in tab mode? More info would be nice

You can use Paranoidandroid like you said, or a script that works for different ROMS like AOKP, etc. They are available in the Development section of this forum.
It's the Nexus7 UI tab mode. It doesn't require any fix like ICS tab mode. All u do is just change the density.
BUT!!! Don't use a app, there are ppl who goes into blackness after they change it.
There is "Rom" (I say it like "..." because it's just a couple lines of coding or whatever) for the Verizon that allows this.
And u don't need to wipe.
Just flash on top of JB ur using now.
IMO, this is better then the ICS version since u don't need the paranoid android group to do anything about it.
It's called phablet mode.
A mix of PHone and tABLET.
There is a tab mode too. But IMO, as I said, it's usable for now and a good ALTERNATIVE to paranoid Android till they come out with anything.
Verizon only version:

New keyboard is needed:

GSM users use the Build.Prop tweak:

Tablet mode or multi user mode for GNex?

I want to give my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) to my youngest son as a wifi only gaming device. I don't want him to have browser or direct Internet access. I basically want restricted user mode like there is on the tablet versions of Android. I have been trying for 2 days to find a way to make that happen. I have multi user setup but the second profile never loads. Has anyone else done this and had success? I am running Cyanogen 11 but I just want anything that will work this way. I have tried Parental control apps but none of them work as well as the restricted profile on tablets either. I don't care what rom I need to run to make this work.
Vanir rom has multi user support like tablets. Should work

Thank you so much mrgnex!! That works perfectly.

[Q] Help choosing custom ROM?

I am new to this type of work, I recently just followed a guide to unlock, root, and install 4.2.2 on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I used the WugFresh? tool and it seemed to go pretty smooth.
However, now my phone will crash several times a day. I get messages that bluetooth has stopped working, or the lockscreen has stopped working, and sometimes it just won't turn the screen on and I need to pull the battery.
Can someone recommend a good ROM that I can push to the device that is tried and tested? I don't know where to find ROMs, how to compare them, or what is best for me. I just want the latest version of stock Android on my almost 2 year old Galaxy Nexus.
I was looking at this page:
[Can't post link as I am a new user...]
and I think I would want the ROM under:
Factory Images "mysid" for Galaxy Nexus "toro" (Verizon CDMA/LTE)
called '4.2.2 (JDQ39)'
I have attached a couple images showing the 'About Phone' so you can see what I currently have.
Thanks in advance,
David
I recommend Shiny ROM. It's pretty much 4.4.2 without any modifications. For me, it's been the most stable of KitKat Roms.
