I've looked for the answer to this but have been unable to find it. I have a Telus T989 and flashed a couple of the ICS leaks and have experienced little to no signal when running them. I flashed back to a GB ROM and signal is fine. Does anyone have any idea on what to do? I've wiped and super wiped numerous times without any luck.
Hey I had the same issue but after a couple reboots it seemed to work fine. If it doesn't work after reboots then flash again and re try. Mine seems to be working but sometimes when I boot up it says no Sim installed.

I reflashed numerous times with a couple of the leaks with no luck. Rebooting does nothing as far as helping. I reflashed back to factory settings and rerooted and signal was great. So I reflashed one of the leaks and it was back to weak to no signal. So I ended up restoring back to just having root, no custom ROM. I don't know what the issue is but I guess I'll have to wait for a T989 leak to drop.
I have the same issue with the same phone
have u tried the "Mr.X Radio Mod"? Pick the radio u have found to give YOU the best signal on gb. Downloadna cwm flashable zip of the modem and open in winrar or amy archiving program. Delete system folder. Now flash any skyrocket ics rom, and then flash the modified radio.

hi all, been following the Epic forums for sometime, finally decided to start getting involved
Im experiencing an issue with EB13. when it first came out I Odined EB13, everything worked great. Since then I have ran into the same issue every time I switch ROMS. I will flash the new rom, about half the time it works great. The other half I get no connectivity at all, and the UI is sluggish. Going into about phone, I see that my baseband is unknown, and my hardware version is unknown.
I can usually get it to connect after re-flashing and re-flashing the rom a few times.
Also, noticed that once I get it to actually connect and I get "bars", I will of course then do a fresh Nandroid, after a full nand backup the issue reappears.
Anyone know what this could be? weird thing is just that its so random. I can get it to work most of the time, just have trouble when switching roms.
Set up:
CWM3.0.0.6/EXT4
Just flashed SyndicateROM today.
EB13 (sometimes)
FIXED
FIXED. all the computers in my home are Macs so odining the modem again is not a quick fix option.
Booted into CWM3 and Fixed Permissions.
Booted up and connected.
Interesting stuff
I've been experiencing the exact same problem as the OP, but for me, running fix permissions in CWM (2.5.1.0) doesn't (always) solve the issue.
It seems to happen anytime I flash a zip from CWM, and goes away randomly (usually after sever flash attempts and modem restores with Odin).
Really hoping someone has an idea what's causing this issue, because it makes flashing things very tedious knowing half the time I'm gonna be stuck with a useless phone until I can get the modem working again.
I'm wondering if it's somehow a hardware issue, since it doesn't seem to affect everybody.
If it helps, I have the stock deodexed EB13 ROM with the Genocide 0.3a kernel.
I'm definately thinking its a cwm issue.. ill even just do a nandroid backup for kicks, reboot and it will do it sometimes.. eventually I might odin back to eb13 and reflash cwm and custom rom and see if I can get it to go away

Let me know if that works for you, because it happens to me all the time, and it's really annoying.
There also doesn't seem to be a simple way of fixing it.
Seems to just randomly go away as suddenly as it comes on.
Okay, so I just odined back to stock EB13 and I still have modem issues.
Currently going all the way back to DI18 to see if that fixes things, but is it safe to assume it's a hardware issue if even Odin doesn't fix it?
Okay, so the unknown baseband issue is back for me, and I seem to have made some headway on what causes it.
I had just tried to initiate a ROM backup in ROM Manager, but it hung while rebooting into CWM (on the Samsung Boot Logo).
I think I might have been doing something with ROM Manager last time it happened as well.
Can anyone who knows more about this stuff than I do think of a reason it'd happen when using ROM Manager?
I'd very much like to nip this issue for good, because it's making it hard to justify using CWM/root if I'm gonna keep losing the phone part of my phone.
Can I bump this? My battery died, and when I turned it back on, I have the unknown baseband, unknown hardware problem. I've been googling all night, and haven't found a solution.
I have been running ERA Legendary v3 on the EI22 Modem for a few weeks with ACS Recovery that I've had installed since it came out.
Any help would be awesome.

And I've tried flashing modems/roms and odining modems/roms. Even Heimdalling modems/roms. No luck. I've mainly tried ec05 and up. I will try older ones right now, if I can find them.
Hello,
I just got a used SGS II from a reputable dealer. When I turned it on, it was fine, but it was stock. I was getting reception and everything was working as normal. I then used the toolbox application to root and put CWM on it. After I did that, I flashed the Allstar rom. Then all of a sudden I wasn't receiving any kind of signal. Zero bars, unknown, nothing working cellular-wise, anywhere in my town.
So, I think "Maybe it's the ROM' and nope- flashed Corys mod and I'm having the same thing. Everything works 100% fine but no cell at all. So at this point I'm completely stumped, and I decide to revert to stock to see if the bars come back. I flash to stock via Odin, and now it won't get past the "Samsung" screen, after the green android.
Can anyone help? It won't even boot now

Try new rom with custom kernel like kko or hotcakes see if it helps with the problem.

To fix the no reception, flash a different radio.
For the phone stuck on the Samsung logo, boot into recovery and do a factory reset.

If you're flashing a JB rom its a known issue that it shows no reception even though you do.

Yesterday my gps wasnt working at all. It would not lock on no matter what I did. I was on a custom rom and I tried wiping my data/cache, reinstalling maps (just for giggles), and a multitude apps from the market that help deal with gps problems (gps fix, gps status, toolbox, etc).
When all this didn't work I decided to odin back to the last official JB update and still no gps. On a whim I decided to odin back to an ICS firmware and that made my gps work. I have no idea but it did. I then odin to UVDLJC, installed TWRP's most recent and restored my backup of the custom rom I was using in the first place and gps now worked.
While I'm happy as heck that my gps is now working and that it was not a hardware issue I'm extremely curious what happened.
I have flashed many roms lately and I cannot think what a custom rom can do to gps to hose it or if it was just one of those things. I would of thought that when I originally did an odin to UVDLJC that would fix the issue but that didn't. Whatever the flash to ICS did fixed it but what in the heck could that of been?
I figure if I can find out or get an idea what happened then I can steer away from flashing certain roms, or just be prepared that flashing any roms at all can make this happen again.
Same here.
Hello, ddcoh.
I am currently having the same issue you had with GPS not working. I've tried everything from trying tedious Play store apps to trying many different roms and kernels (clean installing every time) to completely reverting back to stock including using TriangleAway in case that did any help. Nothing worked. I have been thinking about going back to ICS to see if that worked but the last time I tried to downgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4 I ended up soft bricking my phone even though I followed the steps word for word.
Can you tell how you went about downgrading to ICS and then back to JB, please? I use my GPS a lot and I would hate to find out it's a hardware issue.
Typically, it's been when people are going from 4.2 to 4.1.

Well I used odin to flash an T999_UVALEM which was a prerooted ICS rom. After booting it up I checked to see if GPS was working and it was.
I then used odin again to flash T999_UVDLJA which is a JB rom and booted it up also and saw that gps was working. Then I just restored a backup of a room I had been using and GPS still worked.
I've been out of town and noticed that after flashing a few roms that gps wasn't working so instead of doing all the above stuff I just flashed a cm10 rom. I believe I either used a cm10 nightly (or maybe 10.1, memory is hazy) or LiquidRom and that got the GPS working by just doing that. Not sure if that will work for you but you could always backup your setup using TWRP's latest and then flashing a cm10 rom and seeing if gps is working and if that fixes it then you could then just reboot and restore the rom you are currently on and that might fix your gps for you.

Well I started off with the jedix roms and wifi and blue tooth were working fine. updated to jedix19 or 20 and wifi and bluetooth were spotty, sometimes they would turn on sometimes after turning on it would turn off or just lose BT connection.Went to skynote rom and same thing. went to mean bean same. also same when going to ezkat. I just updated my bootloader to the mk6 without knox stuff and tried flashing the wifi fixes with odin but still no wifi or BT. Is there someway of getting wif and BT back? Thanks for the help in advance.
Edit: oh yeah using an att i317
I have the same problem, I already did a thread, I hope that someone could help us
Did you ever find out?
Maybe a lil more info will help.. Yeah I read everything you tried to flash.. And nothing working.
You can try flashing AGNi kernel for working Wi-Fi. You can find it HERE»»»

Anything with 4.0.0 is for kitkat.
Anything 3.9.7 is for 4.3 fyi.
Since you tried the rest it's time you tested the best lol. It's still beta but very stable btw. Go here»» http://goo.gl/hnP1sV

this is an old thread...but fwiw the only solution for me was to flash the complete stock att ma4 4.1.2 rom ...and then work back up to whichever rom of choice.
this was after trying multiple bootloaders, kernels, modems, recoveries, roms...4.3, 4.4, etc.etc...
i did find another flashing combo that seemed to fix things but after a period of time wifi/bluetooth would randomly disappear again(!) and i'd have to repeat the whole process over again. strange.

I had tried going back to 4.1.2 rom & went all the way up and it still didn't fix the wifi/bluetooth problem.
What boot loader are you on?
I'm not sure what happened but at some point a month or so ago my GPS stopped working on my phone. Using google maps is uesless and it keeps losing gps signal and cannot find where I'm at.
I've tried a full wipe and insall of the latest CM11, changing to different modems, wiping cache and nothing seems to help. I'm very frustrated as for work I need GPS. Please help me!
Can you get a GPS lock when using a stock ROM?
No it will figure out where im at initially but when I move it does not move and track me even on stock 4.1 cdlk3 Modem
You were running CM11 with an LK3 modem? I read other posts where people were having problems getting data with the 4.1 modem and CM11.
No I was running cm11 but went to stock last night. Im on 4.1 with lk3 modem and it cannot locate me or track.
Is there a utilty to completely wipe the phone and put it stock or id there something else I can do?
I thought the latest version of CM11 required the latest bootloader and modem.
What bootloader is on your phone?

Have you tried an app like GPS status to reset and re-download GPS data. I've had that fix issues in the past for me. Also I've heard the screws on the back of the phone may get loose and negatively affect the GPS so you could try tightening them(gently).
Yup I tried a couple programs and nothing pics up a gps signal whether outside or in a car.
Is the gps linked to the modem?
This should solve any GPS issues.

I found a backup from back in april and flashed it just to see if it fixed it. GPS lock worked great so something in the wipe/flash/radio combo got screwed up.
A week ago I dropped my phone and the lcd screen broke but I figured i'd update the thread in case someone else has issues
Thanks for the help guys the apps were awesome!
