I'm not sure what happened but at some point a month or so ago my GPS stopped working on my phone. Using google maps is uesless and it keeps losing gps signal and cannot find where I'm at.
I've tried a full wipe and insall of the latest CM11, changing to different modems, wiping cache and nothing seems to help. I'm very frustrated as for work I need GPS. Please help me!
Can you get a GPS lock when using a stock ROM?
No it will figure out where im at initially but when I move it does not move and track me even on stock 4.1 cdlk3 Modem
You were running CM11 with an LK3 modem? I read other posts where people were having problems getting data with the 4.1 modem and CM11.
No I was running cm11 but went to stock last night. Im on 4.1 with lk3 modem and it cannot locate me or track.
Is there a utilty to completely wipe the phone and put it stock or id there something else I can do?
I thought the latest version of CM11 required the latest bootloader and modem.
What bootloader is on your phone?

Have you tried an app like GPS status to reset and re-download GPS data. I've had that fix issues in the past for me. Also I've heard the screws on the back of the phone may get loose and negatively affect the GPS so you could try tightening them(gently).
Yup I tried a couple programs and nothing pics up a gps signal whether outside or in a car.
Is the gps linked to the modem?
This should solve any GPS issues.

I found a backup from back in april and flashed it just to see if it fixed it. GPS lock worked great so something in the wipe/flash/radio combo got screwed up.
A week ago I dropped my phone and the lcd screen broke but I figured i'd update the thread in case someone else has issues
Thanks for the help guys the apps were awesome!

Hey guys,
Don't shoot me, I've already done the research and still can't seem to find an answer. Regardless of ROM I can't get GPS to find any satellite's, fresh root, SR4.2, Synergy RC2, CM7 nightly, MIUI, Virtuous. I unrooted to see if it was a possible hardware issue, which it isn't as an unrooted phone gives me fast locks onto whatever sat is near. GPS Status shows nothing in the sky even after a A-GPS reset and download, although I know there's always at least 3 that are visible. I've tried clearing cache for any gps based app, tried running fresh rom installs instead of backups all with no luck. Any ideas guys?
Currently I'm running:
ROM - SR 4.2
Baseband - 2.15.00.07.28
Kernel - Stock Kernel from SR4.2 (2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16 htc-kernel[email protected] #1
PRL - 52341
HW Version - 0002
CWM - 3.0.0.7
HBoot - 0.92.0000
Radio - 2.15.00.07.28
Looks like I'm stuck going back to stock unrooted until I can get this fixed.
I'm having the exact same problem. Tried multiple roms and doing A-GPS resets. I'm not sure what else to try, anyone have any other ideas? May have to unroot for now so I can use GPS while traveling.

If you are in NY or other new 4g area it may be related to a problem others are having with AGPS upate VZW pushed. No ROM seems to work.
yep, it was an issue with New York. We drove to Boston on Sunday, I tried clearing my A-GPS in western Massachusetts and suddenly got a lock on GPS! Google maps then worked perfectly all the way to Boston.
Well there is no way I'm giving up root or custom roms, Google or Verizon need a better solution than that.
I actually fixed mine and never left NY, I dropped to stock then went back to SR 4.3 and haven't had a problem since, and I've flashed 3.0 roms and SR 4.3 multiple times with no problem. So if you're still having a problem unroot then reroot. It should fix it.
Yesterday my gps wasnt working at all. It would not lock on no matter what I did. I was on a custom rom and I tried wiping my data/cache, reinstalling maps (just for giggles), and a multitude apps from the market that help deal with gps problems (gps fix, gps status, toolbox, etc).
When all this didn't work I decided to odin back to the last official JB update and still no gps. On a whim I decided to odin back to an ICS firmware and that made my gps work. I have no idea but it did. I then odin to UVDLJC, installed TWRP's most recent and restored my backup of the custom rom I was using in the first place and gps now worked.
While I'm happy as heck that my gps is now working and that it was not a hardware issue I'm extremely curious what happened.
I have flashed many roms lately and I cannot think what a custom rom can do to gps to hose it or if it was just one of those things. I would of thought that when I originally did an odin to UVDLJC that would fix the issue but that didn't. Whatever the flash to ICS did fixed it but what in the heck could that of been?
I figure if I can find out or get an idea what happened then I can steer away from flashing certain roms, or just be prepared that flashing any roms at all can make this happen again.
Same here.
Hello, ddcoh.
I am currently having the same issue you had with GPS not working. I've tried everything from trying tedious Play store apps to trying many different roms and kernels (clean installing every time) to completely reverting back to stock including using TriangleAway in case that did any help. Nothing worked. I have been thinking about going back to ICS to see if that worked but the last time I tried to downgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4 I ended up soft bricking my phone even though I followed the steps word for word.
Can you tell how you went about downgrading to ICS and then back to JB, please? I use my GPS a lot and I would hate to find out it's a hardware issue.
Typically, it's been when people are going from 4.2 to 4.1.

Well I used odin to flash an T999_UVALEM which was a prerooted ICS rom. After booting it up I checked to see if GPS was working and it was.
I then used odin again to flash T999_UVDLJA which is a JB rom and booted it up also and saw that gps was working. Then I just restored a backup of a room I had been using and GPS still worked.
I've been out of town and noticed that after flashing a few roms that gps wasn't working so instead of doing all the above stuff I just flashed a cm10 rom. I believe I either used a cm10 nightly (or maybe 10.1, memory is hazy) or LiquidRom and that got the GPS working by just doing that. Not sure if that will work for you but you could always backup your setup using TWRP's latest and then flashing a cm10 rom and seeing if gps is working and if that fixes it then you could then just reboot and restore the rom you are currently on and that might fix your gps for you.

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if anyone else has had problems with their wifi not wanting to turn on,
I've switched roms, I've went back to factory. Everything i can think of. So If anyone has some experience with this,
Or ANY clue whats wrong, Please let me know.
Thanks!
Why don't you tell us exactly what did you did when it stopped working
Nothing really, Just normal use on Stock when poof it didnt work anymore. I rooted and used custom kernels/roms to
try and get it back working. But it hasnt worked yet. I think It may have been after an OTA update from ATT. But that shouldnt linger after a full wipe, would it?
reboot your modem and router at home..
That Didnt work, It doesnt work on any wifi network. The phones wifi will not enable.
what does your baseband say?
Baseband is I317UCAMC3
ok, that is ok...what rom and kernel are you on?
Rootbox's 4.2.2 Rom with its default kernel. But this issue started happening on Stock, non rooted. And has persisted all the way through 3 different roms so far.
Ok, this is supposed to be only for the gt-n7100 version but it sounds real familiar and if it's a bug in jelly bean it could be your problem. Either way it shouldn't hurt to try.

Are you downgrading and taking the update ??

Hey everyone, really need some help getting my GPS working again.
Used to be on slimkat but went back to stock, everything was fine. Saw the OTA for 4.4.2 and installed, didnt notice any issues. Was trying to use GPS the other day but couldnt get a lock so heres what I've done so far
-download GPS status and clear then refresh AGPS data, left alone for a bit, nothing.
-In bootloader cleared cache, tried GPS status app again with no luck
-In bootloader did a factory reset, booted up without importing data, tried GPS status app with no luck.
-Checked screws around case, tried GPS status app, no luck.
-Downloade and flashed stock 4.4.2 firmware via odin, no luck.
-Tried alternative GPS fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211690) booted up GPS status app and left, managed to see 3 satalittes(my nexus 7 '13 see's 8-12 in same spot) but wasn't able to give a lock
- Tried changing CSC (http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/761247-gps-fix-dummies-guide.html#post6105418 Its for the S4 but well **** I'm willing to try anything) phone was on the wrong one and changed it to the correct GLW code, cleared cache, tried GPS status app, nothing.
I need help, could this be a modem thing? any help would be seriously appreciated
Also mad love to geohot for towelroot
Try GPS test by chartcross. Also how long did you give it? On the Sprint port some had to let it sit and keep trying for over ten minutes. But after getting the initial lock it was much better afterwards.
Since youve been messing with different fixes and files though, you might want to reflash the firmware first.
Is there a phrase for when you unplug the cable and it doesn't fix it but the IT guy tells you too and say you have but you do it anyways and it fixes the problem?
I must've flashed stock 4 times yesterday with no luck then you tell me to do the same thing and it works...... Lol I guess you scared the gremlins away.
I noticed that if I restart my phone I need to use a app to refresh agps data afterwards I have instant lock and see 20+ sats

This has randomly happened three times to me so far on different roms. I searched Google and XDA forums and maybe i am searching for the wrong terms so i will ask here.
I had Hyperdrive installed on my phone for 3 weeks with no problem, i was texting last night no problem. In the morning i woke up and could not send/recieve messages or calls but i could surf the web, check facebook, and everything. This was on and off of wifi. Reboot several times, Full wipe and restored to a previous nandroid, same problem. Another full wipe and reinstalled hyperdrive from scratch, same problem. Finally spoke with Tmobile, no help. Grabbed Carbon rom and then everything worked fine! Why?! Does anyone know why that happens? Same thing happend with the 4.4 Google edition rom. Worked for days then no network. Went back to carbon and it worked fine.
TLDR:Hyperdrive worked great for a week then lost all mobile except internet. Full wipe several times and problem persisted. Changed to Carbon Rom and it worked fine
Used Google Edition 4.4 for days and then it also lost all mobile except internet. Full wipe several times and problem persisted. Changed to Carbon Rom and it worked fine.
What is your modem?
Baseband version shows
M919UVUAMDL
Update it
You can grab the new nh7 modem from Shinyside in development, I ran with my MDL rom no problem.
Pp.
I updated to the NB4 and it seems to be working again. Ill see in a few days if the problem comes back. Its weird that it works great and then out of nowhere it acts up. Thank you for your help!
I will try the nh7 modem from Shinyside if i have the problems again. Or i will just stick with Carbon Rom, it works great but i wanted to try something different.
Nh7 modem has improved my signal all around, I noticed it on my previous rom and going to nh7 stock rom has been a good move for now.
Pp.
So it happened again with the updated modem. After 2 weeks of using Hyperdrive i lost service again. Reboot, wiped and used a backup. Still no service. Wiped and re-installed from scratch, still no service. Updated to the newer version of Hyperdrive, still no service. Wiped and reloaded Carbon and i have service again. I do not get it.
You might have to update your bootloader

Ditto, for Serio, that has been a common issue between KK roms and latest KK firmware.
Go for the nh7 bootloader , don't stress knox.
