I was contemplating on buyin HTC wildfire os SAMSUNG galaxy 3..
PLZ suggest which phone is better??
I require the phone for mainly msgin and net, with a little use fr watching videos and playin the odd games whn i'm bored..
If the galaxy 3 is as bad as the s with lag then go for wildfire
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
The Galaxy 3 has a 667 MHz processor.
The Wildfire has a 528 MHz processor.
There will be a really slight unnoticeable difference of speed when playing games.
Galaxy 3 has a 240 x 400 QVGA resolution.
Wildfire has a 240 x 320 QVGA resolution.
Both are the same size.
Galaxy 3 has a 3.15MP camera.
Wildfire has a 5MP camera.
So the Wildfire will take better pictures/videos.
Galaxy 3 has a Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery.
Wildfire has a Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery.
So Galaxy 3 will last a little bit longer.
Its just a choice between their appereance I would say, and the difference between Sense and what Samsung has.
I would go with the Wildfire though.
I tried many of my friends Samsung smarthphones, and they are nothing compared to a Wildfire.
I have both... the advantages of the Galaxy 3 are:
Screen - the screen on the Galaxy 3 has much better definition (higher res) but it is a bit smaller... I sometimes find it difficult to read without glasses lol. It definitely looks a lot better than the Wildfire's screen... especially when viewing webpages (don't need to zoom in as much for the font to become readable).
Processor - it's not that much faster but the phones does seem less laggy than the wildfire. Also skype works fairly ok on the galaxy but breaks up a lot on the wildfire. So there is a difference.
Advantages of the Wildfire? Well everything else lol. Faster 3G, better camera (has a flash too). WAY more custom ROMs to try out (unless you make the mistake of upgrading to the official froyo like I did :| ). The wildfire's screen is also bigger to it's easier to read without glasses. Oh yeah and if you are sticking with official firmware, HTC Sense is a lot more user friendly than Samsung's TouchWiz interface.
In the end I'm probably going to stick with the wildfire until I can afford a desire or something like that.
and the galaxy devices have lag issues (even my tab), and the htc ones are easier to update (OTA or RUU rather than KIES)
And the wildfire is useless at gaming. if you want gaming and dont mind branding and live in the uk look at the orange san fransisco / ZTE blade
Conclusion = The Wildfire fits your requirements the best.
Also, if this is your first ''smarthphone'' I would definitely go with the Wildfire, so much more user friendly like said above.

I have managed to get Angry Birds run pretty smooth.
And assuming he only wants to play ''odd'' games I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean the 3D games the other phones have.
I dont even bother on thw wildfire - thats why i have the tab

Anyone have any clue as to how N64oid will perform on the Galaxy Nexus? The gpu is less than overwhelming, and with the notable increase in screen resolution, it's being strained even harder.
I don't have any idea how N64oid utilizes resources, the CPU should certainly be fast enough to power the game, but is it going to be playable with the SGX540?

If it doesn't work well... just wait for a more powerful smartphone. If the Galaxy Nexus can't do it, no smartphone can either. At least, not yet.
I want to know how well psx emulators work. Im sure nes/snes will be fine.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
Well has anyone tried it on an Archos 101 or Archos 80 Turbo? They're running the same chip, and have similar resolutions. (the 101's running 1280x600 and the 80 is 1024x768) if it runs well on them, it should run well on the Galaxy Nexus.
yeah, like emulator games require a lot f gpu! lmao... the dangers f ignorancy..!

food for thought-
nexus s released with the exact same hardware as the galaxy s(released 1 yr b4 it). same hummingbird soc, same gpu, same ram, etc etc.it was the time when there were phones like the atrix around. extremely dissapointing. but even now the nexus s is one of the highest benchmarked, best performing phones around. reason? not hardware, but software. google is a huge and vastly successful company,as is samsung, no doubt. there are brains inside google that retards like the "nexus haters" cant even grasp the height of. when they build a phone, they build one on which they can apply all the optimizations and improvements that they possibly can; they know, that by the time they are done with the GN, they will have extracted 100% out of it. Samsung on the other hand , will be hard pressed to deliver ics+tw, u would be a fool to expect them 2 integrate all the optimizations that google comes up with, every time. stop looking at benchmarks. samsung wont even be able to harness 60% the power of the mali400, let alone 100%. look at galaxy tab 10.1 n xoom. nexus s n galaxy s.
BECAUSE GOOGLE MAKES ANDROID, NOT SAMSUNG.
If they think its best to use 4460 instead of exynos,it is.
If they think it is best not 2 use sdcard, it isnt. (i dont agree with it tho)
If they think its best to include sgx540, then it is. trust me, they know what they are doing. They know that gs2 has mali400, and almost all games released in the future will be tested to run on the GN. So if they think that clocking it at 384 will outperform mali400, who r u 2 argue??????????????
So in the end , if you are really sure that samsung will optimize the gs2 2 its full potential, will give out updates every month, and your gs2's tw infested hardware will save your ass for the next 2 years, then go ahead, bash GN all you like.
Because, truthfully, its not GN vs GS2 at all, its what you "think" vs what all the designers @google+samsung THINK is best.
PERIOD.

check this out 2.
I agree that optimizations have the potential to make up for deficits in actual hardware improvements. (though saying that it can make up for a 4 year old gpu which already got its chance to be optimized on the Nexus S is stretching it) But my point is still not about hardware optimization, my question is weather or not anyone has experience running emulators on similar hardware, no need to jump all over me.

n64oid like most emulators on the Android platform runs the games at their native resolution and just stretches them. It doesn't actually render them in the screens native resolution, so the processing power involved in simply stretching the image and not even doing any upscaling in the conventional sense is minimal.
Thanks, that gives me a lot more confidence in the device. As well, I've seen some video of split screen multiplayer on a HDTV using controllers, if the SGSII can do that, I think I should be able to play some Starfox on Nexus.
... ... ...
My Captivate ran PSX4Droid just fine (I'm not sure about N64oid, I don't believe I used it on my Captivate). Granted, it had DesignGear's ROM on it, and had a custom kernel, but it ran emulators without a hiccup. Well, except for the sound, but that had to do with the emulator, not the phone.
I didn't play a ton of games on it, but I know FFVII and Brave Fencer Musashi ran pretty much perfectly. I don't think the GN will have an issue with this at all.
No one should be using PSX4Droid anymore. FPSE destroys it in terms of features, performance, compatibility, etc
... ... ...
... ... ...
N64oid plays all games flawlessly without hiccups on my g2x (1ghz tegra 2) so I would assume it would work just as well

My xperia play runs n64oid and fpse games almost flawlessly aside from some emulation problems. Its only a singe core that i have overclocked to 1.3ghz and almost all games run at 60fps with a few drops here and there but 60fps 98% of the time.

I have an HTC Sensation which has a resolution of 540x960. However, the game runs really fast. (i've been playing Super Mario 64, and Super Smash Bros)
No lag
High FPS
Good sound.
Near flawless on aosp sgs...little laggy on touchwiz charge. No worries about n64 or psx2 emulation on this phone. I expect comparable performance to a sgs ii in most areas gpu wise. Obviously each chip has their own pros and cons but they're definitely both high end.

has anyone tried Zelda OoT? saw some laggy gameplay on a galaxy nexus
Hey all,
I recently got my galaxy nexus. I have seen the Nvidia Tegra Zone & Qualcomm Gamecommand. I was wondering whether there was an equivalent for Texas Instruments.
If not, are there any games that run particularly well on the T.I CPU for this phone?
Thanks!
there is not a TI app like nvidia but the phone should handle anything thrown at it. modern combat 2 and 3, shadowgun, nova, GTA3, madden...they all run fine.
Oh, I felt slightly left out when nvidia altered apps release their thd version for games and we are unable to play them as we are incompatible.
It plays games as good or better than my galaxy tab 7+ with exynos! TI is no joke and I seriously under estimated it. What a nice surprise!

Just install Chainfire 3D and you can install all the Tegra games from the Market and they run perfectly, really shows off what the GN is capable of and the games look so good on our 4.65" 720p screen
I really hate THD and QualComm's GameCommand. It separates the Android community again and is all marketing.
Pretty much to what keyz86 said, Chainfire 3D ftw! If it wasn't for this app.. we'd be in trouble.
Hello people I'm here to ask what do you think of the gaming experience on the Galaxy Gio. Is it ok for a medium budget android phone ? And how does it compare to the galaxy Ace?
-Thanks
On Ace and Gio it it is the same. Without difference. And it's nice phone, but as you can see, it's middle range smaryphone. It means a lot of new games will not work on gio. Go to YT and see vids with gameplays
Na szczęście jest TapaTalk

In stock ROM lot of games will stutter, ex: Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, Where's My Water, PES 2011, etc) But if you install the custom ROM, those games wont stutter anymore... But just dont ask for HD Games, it will have a lot of lag
But with the price given the Gio is awesome!
Ace and Gio are almost the same. Well, Ace has bigger screen and better camera but it doesn't matter due to gaming. You must be aware that new HD games does not support armv6. But Russians still try to port them so who knows? Gio is a powerfull phone and games work fine.
hey guys i am thinking to replace my phone galaxy ace s5830i for galaxy W
is this phone good and can play hard games smoth
and does have any bugs or problems ?
Without a doubt, the Ace is a nice little phone....but it's simply not as powerful as the W....the W does have it's drawbacks though.....
It'll never officially see an upgrade beyond Gingerbread..
Many users will mention the poor battery performance....when I owned my W, I replaced the battery twice. It also suffers from minimal user memory space (though this can be remedied by installing an external memory card and swapping memory in a custom ROM). In terms of gaming, out of the box....it suffers, but if you install a custom ROM, performance IS increased.....in short...the Galaxy W is a good choice for an upgrade at a reasonable price if you're prepared to tweak and modify it to bring it to it's full potential.....

does it is similar to s2 ? ? !
i heared that any game work on s2 it can also work on galaxy W is that real ?
I have heard the W being called the S2 mini....so in the same way that the S3 mini isn't quite as capable as the S3, the W isn't quite as capable as the S2. Lets face it, the S2 has twice the number of cpu cores and more RAM.....it's going to be a faster phone......
So to answer your question, some games that work well on an S2 will lag on a W.....

My opinion :
first, i donno how price W on your country. so it still depended on what you chosee soon,
second, im just give you opinoin about W, no offence.
my opinion
ace to W still same bro, even it have faster CPU and have more power in andreno 205
but it still better you choose HTC Desire HD, it have 785mb ram but still use same CPU and GPU
even this W is amazing 512mb can feel CM10.1 (ARCO IS AMAZING!).. but better you find phone at lease have 785mb RAM.

S2 Mini? Youmad? Just kidding, but admit it, as a stock phone, its nothing compared to the S2. Now, new phones like Ace 2 (Screw you Samsung) and HTC One are taking over... And I feel that this is more worthwhile... W.... Eh, just use it for daily use like calling people or playing light games like Temple Run 2 or Nyan Cat. If you want smooth gameplay on RR3 and at the same time, good battery then go fly a kite. Yes, W is 'okay' for hard gaming, but its cuz we use ROMs like Velox or OOAK or RC6... There is bound, and yes I mean bound, to be lags in every heavy game this device runs.
