Hey all,
I recently got my galaxy nexus. I have seen the Nvidia Tegra Zone & Qualcomm Gamecommand. I was wondering whether there was an equivalent for Texas Instruments.
If not, are there any games that run particularly well on the T.I CPU for this phone?
Thanks!
there is not a TI app like nvidia but the phone should handle anything thrown at it. modern combat 2 and 3, shadowgun, nova, GTA3, madden...they all run fine.
Oh, I felt slightly left out when nvidia altered apps release their thd version for games and we are unable to play them as we are incompatible.
It plays games as good or better than my galaxy tab 7+ with exynos! TI is no joke and I seriously under estimated it. What a nice surprise!

Just install Chainfire 3D and you can install all the Tegra games from the Market and they run perfectly, really shows off what the GN is capable of and the games look so good on our 4.65" 720p screen
I really hate THD and QualComm's GameCommand. It separates the Android community again and is all marketing.
Pretty much to what keyz86 said, Chainfire 3D ftw! If it wasn't for this app.. we'd be in trouble.

Hey guys, just getting myself acquainted to the G2 before I actually get my hands on it. (should be arriving in 4.5 hours.) I am coming from the LG Optimus T and as you guys probably know it can't really do a spectacular amount of things when it comes down to 3D games. Anywho, my question for you guys this morning is... What games (rpg, fps, etc.) do you guys play on the G2 and how well do they work? I would love to play something like Dungeon Defender, Dungeon Hunter 2, or even N.O.V.A. 2, is that a possibility?
The G2, while underclocked at 800 mhz, has a second-generation Qualcomm processor, meaning it can out-preform phones with a 1ghz first-generation Qualcomm (i.e. Nexus One). I've used an Optimus T as well, and the difference between it and the G2 is incredible. I don't think you'll have a problem -- my G2 has run every game I've thrown at it without the slightest hint of lag. It's not going to have as much power as a phone sporting a Nvidia or dual-core processor, but I haven't run into any problems whatsoever.
if games do give you any trouble at all (they shouldn't, the only lag i get at all is on my n64 emulator playing megaman64) just download chainfire3d from the market, it requires root tho, but it lets you mess with the textures and increase framerate, its pretty cool. honestly there are no games made currently that cant be handled by our phone.
Every game I've tryed runs perfectly. It has the most powerful GPU (behind the galaxy s by a little bit) of any single core phone, and is 4x faster than the adreno 200 in the nexus one, which is usually the development phone for games. You shouldn't have any problems with any gameloft games for the time being, but you can always OC to 1.9Ghz should games decide to demand more (^o^).
The only games that our phone can't run are specific tegra-2 optimized games. This is because they only support dualcore, but it is an android rather than a g2 problem. By the time Ice Cream Sandwhich comes along, tegra2 games should run on our phone.
Any Gameloft game you use on the G2 will run really well except for one big problem.. usually after the second or third time you play one of those games, the load times increase dramatically. To the point where it's not even worth trying to play anymore.
Eric, that doesn't happen to me. Honestly OP, if you want a device for gaming, this iis the one to get.

I think it means that if it's optimized for the Nexus 7, which is a Tegra 3 device, it's also optimized for our HOX.

That's just crazy, you think Gameloft would want to sort its games out so they work properly on the flagship device of one of the world's biggest phone manufacturers, not to mention the official google tablet uses the same processor.

Well yea you'd think so... Gamelofts version of optimising for nexus 7 means allowing it to run it. It's not optimised at all. For example, there was a hox version of modern combat 3, which ran beautifully. Nexus 7 play store downloads a version that runs like a really quick slide show. nova 3 on the hox, the version I tried, had all effects like the iphone4 version. It did run like crap also. The nexus play store version runs similar, but doesn't have the smoke and lighting effects. Dark knight runs steppy, etc...etc... Hamdir is running a thread to make tegra games 60fps... This is a whole other issue, getting games above 30fps on a cutting edge chipset. Especially as I've seen my friend play nova 3 on his sensation at what I perceived as 60fps. It looked amazing!!

man again u r not being fair, I played on the sensation its 60fps with every effect disabled, n I mean dead flat no reflection on any surface
mass effect v1.30 on the hox had much less effect n ran over 60fps
also sgs3 runs nova3 at 60fps with everything on, ripetide runs very badly
effects on the hox for nova is a luck issue the game gets confused by the 3d dots menu and turns them on
with a custom kernel like faux004b6 nova3 runs very well
the gaming app, faux kernel and my guide proves there is nothing wrong with tegra its just software issues
all HTC has to do is include a performance profile

I believe I'm being pretty fair? Gameloft need to pull their finger it and get optimising for tegra. Whilst I get what youre doing on hox, and the need for performance profiles, the same issues with Gameloft games are present on the nexus 7, whikt tegra games are just smoother out of the box than hox was. Its gamelofts issues here, not tegra.

oh sorry i misunderstand
if you were attacking Gameloft, please be my guest, they shouldn't be doing games for mobile
2GB file sizes and their games still look outdated despite all the hype
meanwhile some levels in Dead trigger are simply ps3 quality @ 100MB! respect!
Hello all,
what games (or other apps) would you recommend to show off the superb graphics and processor capabilities of the Nexus 7?
Is there anything that is optimized for the Nexus 7 screen and processors?
Thank you all for your suggestions!
Dead Trigger works very well for me. Puddle also works for the Tegra 3 optimization
here's the Free version thread:

i've posted there already.
here's additional ones that are not free:
Asphalt 7
Samurai II: Vengeance
Riptide GP

ShadowGun THD
World of Goo
Jelly Defense
REAL RACING 2 currently 99c! Definitely great game.
Here's another,

Take up about 1.37GB though

I think Riptide GP, a game with Tegra enhancements, is impressive and is easy to hand over to anyone and have them get into it right away.
For apps, I guess Google Earth would knock Grandma's socks off .
Cs portable and whale trail. These are not tegra optimized, but there is no doubt that they look great. I am addicted to cs portable and would love to know what drugs the devs of whale trail where on when they created that gane. Must of been shrooms or sumin.

Some advice from me would be to stay away from gameloft for now. They have a funny way of creating games. Dont get me wrong there games are great but there just not that good on our nexus 7. If you are gong to buy a gameloft game make sure you read the description to see if its tegra 3 optimized or any mention of the nexus 7. If not then dont buy the game. The only acception i can give you is modern combat 3 and nova 3. Nova 3 is a bit so so, while mc3 plays great.
Dont get asphalt 7 until you see a update in the play store. Right now it is on version 1.0.0. I have it myself and it is not optimized the way it should be (ie: bad graphics and low frame rate).
Just be careful as to what you buy as the nexus is new device and you can very easily be disapointed as many games need to b updted.

I watched a video of gamplay but on note 2 and S3 runs only on high graphics there is no very high like in nexus 4 and xperia z and other devices like s4 and htc one. Are the note 2 and S3 out of dated, and is the MALI-400MP so bad it cant run this game which graphic is simillar to GTA Vice City on the maximum like the other devices? I dont play alot of games but this is stupid those devices are 6-7 months old and they are out dated or this is only made by gameloft cuz they sux in optimising there games for the smartphones with exynos processors. What is your opinion?
*Gameloft logic* no one can understand it
btw note 2 can handle the game better than most of the devices including Nexus 4 and XZ
My mistake Snapdragon S4 cant run it on Very High too (adreno 320) So it looks like gameloft failed again like asphalt 7 and also not optimising games for tegra 3.
Tried To Run This Game On Captivate
I have tried to run this game on captivate on stock rom, it was running on it with low graphics(but Lagging), but it was playable. Is there any way to run it without lag. by installing some custom rom or anything
Gangstar Vegas suks...
I was so disappointed by the graphics, it looks hideous on my note 2 even with edge enhancement and color correction(via perseus kernel)...The draw distance is terrible as in trees and houses just pop up within a really short radius,The textures suck bad, this is more noticeable because the character model is really good(with edge enhancement),The size is crazy for the quality of graphics
Basically don't waste your space, money or bandwidth for this game until someone or gameloft(motherfuks) fix this nonsense of a game...
The game was just downloading and reached 800MB and by seeing your comment I feel like stopping and deleting the game..because I dont want to waste all that space for a game not being good(just on note 2)
Gameloft so disappointing nowadays..Note 2 has 2GB RAM+1.6Ghz qaud-core+Mali 400MP and runs on 4.1.2 so how comes they provide better quality to phones like nexus 4 which has only 1GB RAM and is slower than note 2 in every aspect
Hating Gameloft for their useless and unpleasant policies in supporting devices
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
GTA Vice City have better graphics and run with 60 FPs on maximum graphics, maximum resolution 100% draw distance. So gameloft must optimise their games first and then to put them in the playstore.

Deal with it. Note 2 have Mali-400 which is the worst ( i didn't said the slower) gpu ever. Rendering colors at 16bits isn't good ..

Not sure what you saw & what device it was on but the graphics in Vegas are MUCH better than any ofbthe GTAs including the newest San Andreas. Its make GTA look very dated. Though even on my HTC One M7 the draw distances are horrible & things just pop up as stated. Its obviously a coding problem because its the same weather on very high or medium graphics. So its just poor all the time. If it was the device being pushed to hard lowering the graphics would improve things it does not. But as long as your not in a vehicle moving fast its butter Smooth even on very high on the M7. But again its no where close to the GTA games the textures, models, & lighting are significantly better in the Gangstar game. I own both & play both.

Dear fellow S4 Mini guys,
I have bought this wonderful device a week ago, and since then it gave me nothing but usability comfort and modern smartphone awesomeness (I think its part High-end and part Middle-end (namely PPI and GPU are of the middle-end. You are welcome to discuss this though).
Being a mobile gaming junkie, the first I did is fire up a latest PPSSPP and playing some PSP titles, and I am still amazed at how the ARM cores have matured over time, Qualcomm Krait 300 (and 400 that started to appear just right now) and ARM Cortex A15 currently being state-of-the-art.
However, my grudge is against the GPU, which is less important to platform emulation than it is to native Android games. While it is enough for any game I actually play on S4 Mini, it is showing its middle-end teeth on the games like Iron Man or even Vice City. And I started to wonder what this Adreno 305 GPU is actually about. I've been for quite some time apart from recent 3D Android titles, and have seldom spare time for checking anything that is downloadable to figure out for myself.
So I wanted to know what games are the most GPU-intensive and demanding so I could test them and get a grip on the general GPU performance of S4 Mini. Not that it would change anything, but once the curiosity starts to spread... From Youtube videos I know that N.O.V.A. 3 runs quite good.
Thank you in advance, and you are most welcome to discuss the general performance of our device and your notes on performance of specific games.

Thanks, I'll check out some of these games tonight.
However, from my experience with 2011 Xperia Play I can state the following:
Dead Space, Shadowgun, Mass Effect and Need for Speed Most Wanted will run flawlessly on anything even remotely more powerful than Adreno 205, which is considerably behind Adreno 305.
Btw, I forgot to add that Carmageddon, GPU-accelerated mode of FPSE and N64oid run flawlessly as well. But I believe they are not GPU-demanding enough to push the limits of S4 Mini.
Take a look at a game called "The Room". Quite fun as a puzzle game and looks quite nice.
Seem to hit some snags here and there. You determine if it's poor optimisation or if it's just GPU-intensive.
Another game that looks quite good from the screenshots (don't really play fast-paced games on my phone) is a game called Galaxy on Fire 2 HD (it's free).

That is in "your case" through the playstore yes. If you get the APK from other sources, you can install it. Basically most games that say "Not Compatable" are compatable anyways.. it's just the playstore that thinks your device is not supported.
Beware that if you have editted your build.prop and your DPI, playstore can also have compatability issues because its 240dpi for this device.
Also I'm not listing games if they do not work, obviously!
NOVA3 just works fine.
