Fastest ROM available - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the fastest ROM? Plus the kernel to go with it? And maybe not stock so I can install supercharge easily? Please provide links, thanks in advance!

GB roms are probably 'fastest' at the moment, probably the fastest is cm7, it's kernel is in the download zip. I found arconium and SE tweaked at least as good, and there are several others which also use doom's kernel. I'm running cm9 just now, links are in the signature. To be honest it's better to try roms yourself as the difference can be nothing more than theming.

Best kernel for lou's Senseless

Hi, Currently running Sense(less) rEVOlution 2.0 with Kernel #4, is there a better kernel for better battery life? I like this combo very much but I think the battery could be better
Also looking for a true senseless, AOSP gingerbread rom with gapps included, or at least flashable, any suggestions?
Thanks
Try lous #8....closest thing to whst ur talkin about would b skyraider athena, that and the other 5 gingerbread roms in development
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
If you haven't tried chad's incredikernel:
http://chad0989.dyndns.org/2.6.32.27-incredikernel-12232010-plus25v.zip
then I suggest you give it a go.
Use it without setCPU, at least at first. It has one built in so you really don't need one, if you find it too sluggish or you think you can set it better then put it on after you gave the whole Kernel a good run without it.
I find this Kernel very fast and the best for battery life that I've tried.

Not many of those. Really CM7 is the only one I've found worthy of flashing.
Try the RC1
(If you go with AOSP then you will need a different kernel than listed above)
Thanks guys for the replies.
I will try #8 tonight, also on chad's Kernels I have read the same and will be trying that one as well. I'm really liking Senseless 2.0 with Launcher pro Plus
Yeah I understand that with a sense rom you have to have a sense Kernel and with AOSP rom an AOSP kernel. Question though. IF i did decide to try and AOSP ROM, that AOSP rom should/would come with a new Kernel right? Just don't flash Lou's stuff/sense kernel after that.. only flash another AOSP Kernel. Is that right?
I have the Droidx so this Kernel stuff is new to me lol.. still learning.

You got it Most/all ROMs for the Inc come with a kernel included. I personally like the one CM7 RC1 comes with, gives me great battery life
Ziggy's 12111 beta
If I flash to incredikernel from Lou's #4 I just need to wide delvic cache correct?

[Q] How to speed up ICS on R800i?

Currently running the latest version of Dark Forest ROM and a slightly too old version of DoomKernel.
I notice that there is some serious performance drops with ICS. Any suggestions on getting this back up to speed? Better ROM to use?
Also, off topic, I haven't been able to find a link to a version of the Beta ROM with WiFi, data, etc enabled and NO OTHER CHANGES. A link would be helpful and I have searched.
Thanks in advance for both requests!
CM9 based roms seem to be the smoothest - AOKP is the best for me. You can try overclocking on darkforest rom and updating your kernel may help alot as well.

Thanks! Been meaning to update the kernel but I guess I'm just lazy. I'll get that done and try your other suggestions later but for now I've got a pile of coursework to do. Already overlocked to 1.4 Ghz but I guess the old kernel may be holding me back. Also is there a CM9 available for R800i that supports the gamepads?
Cheers again!
Touchpads do work in all cm9 roms but they're app specific - some apps allow them to work and some do not, it depends on how the app developer implemented them or so I've read.

[Q] Coming from Desire S

Hello,
Today i'll switch from Desire S to Arc. Now I don't want to set up the phone and later on root it. I'll just do it all tonight.
I saw lots of guides and probably I will manage to do it.
In the Desire S Rom sphere it was pretty clear which Rom to choose. GB -> Endymion ICS-> no one really yet.
I rather want a stable and fast Rom instead of ICS for all matters. I don't know the Sony interface yet, do I miss something if I flash AOKP? I just hate launcher redraws..
Any advice, including Kernel, because I would like to overclock.
And please tell me what's the best order to do it. Baseband-Bootloader-Root-Flash.
I know how to flash Kernels, but why and how do you flash Wifi modules?
THANK YOU
Tapa2 desire s
Edit: I'm on a Mac with SDK, do I need windows? I have it but if someone knows how to do it with mac I would appreciate it..
Hey, I recommend Arconium ICS 4.0 with ArcKnight Kernel RC_3.1. Its the most smooth combination I have found. There will be a new kernel out by doomlord pretty soon which should be really good also. I usually flash the baseband with flashtool, then flash the kernel with flashtool, and finally install rom. Also you install the wifi modules through recovery.
Ok, thank you. I was looking at the mooded rom..

I actually tried it lastnight, it is slower than Arconium. I switched back this morning.
u seriously need to try the Arconium ICS..its very good and well tweaked stock ROM
if you want to overclock then try ArcKnight or XArc..both are good...but if you dont want to overclock and want to have better battery life then stock kernel is the best..
you can flash wifi modules through recovery..
best order is
-Unlock bootloader
-Flash kernel
-Flash baseband
-Flash ROM
-Flash wifi modules if needed
-Enjoy
Well flashtool(software which is used to flash kernel, baseband) is made for windows. I never cared to look for an alternative for Mac.ask any developers if there is any.

[Q] Which Kernels are really safe to use with JB leaks?

I have seen to many kernel threads and none of them seems to say that the kernels are safe to use with the JB leaks.
I really don't see why they shouldn't, but I really wanted to be sure.
have anyone used a Franco, faux or similiar present kernel with the new JB leaks from Insert Coin or ARHD?
Do we have to repack them to be fine?
I know that kernel version should not be a problem, but we only have source code for the ICS kernel based in 2.6.X and the new kernel is 3.0.X
So I wanna know real experiences if possible
Thanks,
Santroph.
Hi, i have tried repacking a few of them as im keeping a list up together for the maximus thread but none of the linux 2 kernels have worked yet, will try trips kernel when i get round to it this week but it says no support for sense so probably a no go. I havent seen anything new yet but will keep my post updated as and when (link in my sig) they should work for other jb sense 4+ roms too :good:

[q]Good kernel for Stock 4.0.3 OC/Tweaks?

Been having a lot of trouble. Being new to android and this forum. Its hard to find a stable release. Messed my phone up bad. Did a RUU and its better, but not much. So many outdated and broken files. How's a guy to figure it out, when he cant even ask whats the best ROM? And Im not asking for the best, just a good Kernel to run with stock HOV, Just to unlock Overclocking and tweaks. I have Titanium 7.5 HF. Which other good sense ones are there? Any ones that are just stock with unlocked OC? I basically gave up on trying these roms. I was wanting to try Suprimo v30 but I cant get it to boot. Tried all the Kiss/Sense kernels I could find. And no ones willing to tell me exactly what version to use. So stock it is.
Thanks.
For sense based roms use titanium kiss kernel.... The one u r using now is ont supported... I mean the titanium 7.5.... &myonev rc 9.5 is cool in ny opinion... U can try it... For stable aosp rom, go for cm10 or pa 2.99 with hellboy kernel....
