[Q] Which Kernels are really safe to use with JB leaks? - HTC One X

I have seen to many kernel threads and none of them seems to say that the kernels are safe to use with the JB leaks.
I really don't see why they shouldn't, but I really wanted to be sure.
have anyone used a Franco, faux or similiar present kernel with the new JB leaks from Insert Coin or ARHD?
Do we have to repack them to be fine?
I know that kernel version should not be a problem, but we only have source code for the ICS kernel based in 2.6.X and the new kernel is 3.0.X
So I wanna know real experiences if possible
Thanks,
Santroph.

Hi, i have tried repacking a few of them as im keeping a list up together for the maximus thread but none of the linux 2 kernels have worked yet, will try trips kernel when i get round to it this week but it says no support for sense so probably a no go. I havent seen anything new yet but will keep my post updated as and when (link in my sig) they should work for other jb sense 4+ roms too :good:

[Q] Gingerbread OC

Hi all. I have been looking around at the various ROMs and Have found with my DHD (out of lack of experience maybe with modding) that I can't get an overclock on Android 2.3.X ROMs. Any reason for this? I've tried a few kernels as well and some aren't compatible with the ROM so I'm not sure what to use if any.
Any knowledge out there?
The source code for gingerbread w/ sense kernels aren't released yet so there are no custom kernels thus no overclocking. The kernels used are stock ones.
Ah thanks. I wasn't sure if there was any support out there yet. I have been flashing a few roms, radios and kernels to see if anything fitted. Also why doesn't the new sense version agree with these custom ginger roms?

[Q] How to speed up ICS on R800i?

Currently running the latest version of Dark Forest ROM and a slightly too old version of DoomKernel.
I notice that there is some serious performance drops with ICS. Any suggestions on getting this back up to speed? Better ROM to use?
Also, off topic, I haven't been able to find a link to a version of the Beta ROM with WiFi, data, etc enabled and NO OTHER CHANGES. A link would be helpful and I have searched.
Thanks in advance for both requests!
CM9 based roms seem to be the smoothest - AOKP is the best for me. You can try overclocking on darkforest rom and updating your kernel may help alot as well.

Thanks! Been meaning to update the kernel but I guess I'm just lazy. I'll get that done and try your other suggestions later but for now I've got a pile of coursework to do. Already overlocked to 1.4 Ghz but I guess the old kernel may be holding me back. Also is there a CM9 available for R800i that supports the gamepads?
Cheers again!
Touchpads do work in all cm9 roms but they're app specific - some apps allow them to work and some do not, it depends on how the app developer implemented them or so I've read.

SGH-I747 Kernel flashing 101

So I have got a question that maybe many others have yet to voice or address (maybe it's just me, and I am delusional). In any event, I am not new to rooting and flashing ROMS. I am also familiar--at least conceptually--with what the kernel is and what it does. For the purposes of this post however, I should mention that I have not ever flashed a custom kernel and am unsure as to why one would or why there is more than one floating around. I have been vacillating back on forth between stock and custom kernels....it seems like in order to flash this ROM you need this Kernel, or that ROM flash that Kernel. I want to learn and to know. I would really appreciate feedback on this.

Kernel's are installed or "flashed" in the same manner as a custom ROM, either through CWM or Odin. Kernel's just add an extra level of customization, most people use custom Kernel's for overclocking although they also have many other uses.
Kernals can also highly affect battery life and the speed of roms. The kernal has to match the kind of rom. Samsung kernals go with samsung/touchwiz based roms. Aosp kernals go with aosp based roms like cyanogenmod and aokp. There are a few jellybean kernals and those will work for the current jellybean aosp based roms. Samsung will eventually release their own jellybean update and when that happens expect to see jellybean samsung kernals made for roms based on samsung jellybean.

Stock kernel confusion

Okay I am probably going to sound rather stupid here but I am confused
I have installed many custom roms and many kernels. I am experiencing very very bad flickering with all but the latest stock kernel 1.29.401.11
I got it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692404
Most AOSP roms don't work with this kernel though, so I am going back to a cooked sense rom. I suppose they should work with 1.29.401.11.
However I am wondering now whether this actually is the latest kernel? I am seeing lot of people using 2.17.401.2 base?!
Is the latter the rom version using the 1.29.401.11 kernel?? ....Like I said, probably stupid but confused nonetheless

I think the answer is no.
But you can try ARHD 9.4.0 it use the latest stock kernel building on 2.17 base.
Enjoy it

Thanks will try that one!
The screen flickering is a manufacturing issue that has been discussed heavily on XDA. (See here)
And as too9s said, ARHD is a great custom ROM based on 2.17. However, there are repacked kernels that work well with ARHD in case you wanted to flash a custom kernel.
The one by Faux is very popular: Link
I'm on arhd 9.4 with faux 07vf oc 1.55 uv -75 and it is amazing
Heres a link to all repacked kernels for arhd plenty to choose from

[Q] Kernel sources

I would like find the freshest available 3.0 kernel for the Desire Z. Where is it hosted? My intention is to make a kernel more stable than others available, as all are undervolted, and unfortunately with those settings I am experiencing random reboots. I've found some sources, tuned voltages to the original ones (as in htc's 2.6.35 kernel), and the reboots disappeared.
Thanks in advance,
The Andromadus 3.x kernel and cn.fyodor's are the most recent, I might say fyodor's might be slightly ahead being as he is the Andromadus kernel guy and his kernel stuff which goes into his ROM probably gets merged into Andromadus later (or maybe he does entirely different things for each, I'm not sure, you'd have to ask him).
By the way if you manage to get either of the above up and running, I'd appreciate some help as I've been trying to compile the Andromadus kernel but have so far not been able to produce a zImage, although compilation seems fairly smooth .
And are these kernel for sense? I always read on forums that there are kernels for sense roms, but actually I dont know the difference.
Last time I compiled from github / ajhavery / htc7x30-3.0.git, and it compiled well for me.
Then two linked to you by htcdreamon are for aosp/cm/aokp etc, you are right that you can not interchange aosp kernels and sense kernels, by and large they are not compatible
