[Q] Interesting app install problem - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I have an app I really need to use[cbs fantasy baseball], but apparently it is incompatible with ICS. I downloaded the app on another rom, put the zip on my phone, changed the extension to apk and it recognizes it as an app. tried to install but failed.
i tried to install zip from CWM but aborted.
Is there anyway to get this going... maybe by editing the build.prop?
I really don't want to go back to GB for just one app.

What app are you wanting to use? And did you click on compatible old apps? And try using 4shared.com to download the app then install it.

...cbs fantasy baseball

I am about to leave for my trip and really need this app. can someone help me out? I feel i might not have retrieved the correct app file from the GB rom. it was onlu 899kb and the regular download is more. Could someone compile it for me?. its a free app. CBS Fantasy Baseball

CBS Fantasy Baseball
Try wiping the apps cache file and data. If that doesnt work find the APK file on for shared or one of the other thousands of APK download sites. You could also try downloading it again from the google play store. If you get an error clear Google Plays stores cache and data as well as uninstalling updates.

Some apps aren't designed for ICS and won't work even if you do manage to get them installed. Have you tried using the CBS fantasy site from your phone browser? I have used Yahoo and ESPN's mobile site to check and update my fantasy teams in the past. I don't use CBS so I'm not sure what they have available but it should work.

I found the older version which has a few features not included. It works, so i think if i had the correct backup i could use it. It is not on any apk sites. It is too obscure.

[Q] cannot install gmail app

i just installed cm7 and google apps addons... i think i skipped gmail app installation when first boot(after i installed google apps addons zip through recovery)... now when i search for gmail on market.. i don't find it..
i tried website version of market.. i found gmail app.. but when i want to install.. i get "This item is not available on your carrier"........
all this is getting very annoying..... why it's that complicated to install a simple gmail app?
re-flash gapps...
Surprised, as it's a core part of the app.
reflashed 3-4 times in vain... finally got the gmail apk from some black market... normally shouldn't be doing that though :S
now i need google maps... does someone know how to reflash the gapps properly... i reflashed it multiple times.. i only have market

Where are you from? Have you tried an app called marketenabler? It allows you to download apps in market even if they aren't available in your country.

GApps problem
Hi,
I downloaded and installed AppsPackPlus(01-01-12).zip then realised there was no gmail or google play app included in the zip.
So.... I downloaded SPEC-Gapps-4.4.2-BetaV6.zip which is quite a large file, and checked that it did contain them.
However, after installing it, I still have neither app on the phone.
Can anyone explain what's going on?
I've put CWM 11 and KitKat on a Galaxy Ace phone if that is relevant.
Thanks

PSXPeria games won't load

I tried converting FF7 for PSXperia. they appear in the list, but when I try to load them, a quick popup saying "Updating..." comes up then just closes. I went through the guides exactly. I just don't get it.
Anyone run into this problem?
Or should I just use FPSX?
Anyone have any ideas?
/bump
Check your ISO by loading it into PSX on a computer. Which version converter are you using? I know the 1.0 works for me but the 2.0 didn't. What instructions did you follow?
Verizon R800x, locked bootloader but rooted
got the same problem..
I'm using the 2.0 version..
- just got my CrashB files (APK and data folder)
- extracted
- select my ISO (Diablo1, MGS, SilentHill), custom icon, name,..
- convert...
- copyed to SD card (zpak, bin to datafolder, APK to random folder)
- installed
- game appered in PS games
- started and just got black screen and after few sec I'm back on my home screen..
:/
I've tried alot of things and methods, PSXPeria v1 and v2.
I got REALLY close. I found the US version of Crash Bandicoot. this allowed me to convert without errors. It gets past the black screen, the Playstation logo comes up, so the emulator starts. But then when it goes to load the game, it says the data is corrupt.
I've been trying to find the US version of the ZPAK file but no luck.
similiar problem it just says updating even with crash bandicoot
have u still got the preinstalledservice.apk? if not you will need it.
Thats still there.
Im gonna punch the dummys who said you can uninsrall preinstalled service

It doesn't make a difference. It's still installed on mine and it doesn't work.
Just use FPSE. With the latest update to it, sound is almost PERFECT, atleast in FF7. There are still some slowdowns, but they don't last long.
Not a fan of fpse

@Masters2150 I'll post a link to the ZPAK for the US crashbandicoot if you still need/want it

When I last tried this I was on stock, just rooted.
Here, I found the forum post I originally made stating everything I tried.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487928
maybe you must try flash other rom
Playstation Pocket won't work on any rom but the stock SE rom as custom roms don't include the files and APK files I believe.

Help with getting apk's

You may have noticed that some apps in the app store are "Not available for your device" I absolutely despise that fact that they outright ban you from downloading the app. Give me a warning about mismatched resolutions, whatever, but make NO way to get the apps?! GRRRR!!!! But I digress....
I'm trying to get the myChevrolet and Onstar RemoteLink apps, neither of which are available for our Epic Touch 4G apparently. I can't find the apk's on the web and I've spent hours trying to get the Android Market to work an an Android emulator so I could get the apps and pull the apk from there, but apparently I'm just not going to be able to get the #$%^ market to work either.
Can anybody help here? Send me the apk's or help me get the market working on emulator or some other suggestion ?
I had no problems installing those apps from the market.

I'm not sure why the onstar remote link shows as a zip in my app folder instead of as an apk if that doesn't work let me know

Did you change the DPI on your device? If you did the market won't let you install certain aps.
im0rtalz Thanks, but the first link is broken. I renamed the .zip to .apk, but when I try to install I just get "application not installed". The icon is there though, so I suspect it comes back to a screen resolution issue.
I did not change my DPI, but I am running Calkulins E4GT v2 ROM. I'm guessing the ROM includes a modded resolution???
Sorry I had not check back into this thread please try this one for the apk version

Annoying Market Glitch - reinstall after wipe

I was booting up for the first time after a wipe, finished the setup and all my apps were auto installing over wifi. Well my power went out in the middle of all the apps downloading,so an error appeared for each app in my status bar.
Manually I could start each installation one by one. All good. But adobe flash player was one of the apps that got interrupted. I've obviously had it installed constantly thru ICS. Well immediately the market won't let the download continue for flash because it got interrupted. Even though it was just installing 30 seconds ago. Says my device is not compatible. Is the market that glitchy where I'm not out of the loop of existing users allowed to continue using flash? It took a simple power outage failed download and the market can't remember I should have flash installed?
I'm annoyed cause I wanted to keep flash officially in my app install list.

Maybe try pulling the flash related apk from a back up, then push to your /system/app folder then fix permissions then use titanium back up to restore market link
- Cheers
Seems as if Adobe has pulled the Flash player out of Play Store earlier then the said august 15th date...
Can't find Flash player on the play store thru search (on a Gnex which doesn't have it installed).
On my phone, which does have it installed, says my device 'isn't compatible with this app' when I go into the Play store and look it up. If you'd like, I could attach the .apk file here..
EDIT: Attached Adobe Flash Player 11 apk

I don't think you can search for Flash on a Gnex since it's not supported. Try browsing to play.Google.com from your desktop. But even if you find it you may not be able to push it to your device.

Hmm, that's strange. Seems your right, but I HAD previously installed it on my Gnex... and flash is working in any case. Maybe it's JB, since it's not supported, it won't show up in the app store?

If you copy the url of the app from your desktop/play store and open it through market on your device, it will say unsupported.
Forget flash. Use html5, it's way better.

Thanks. Yeah this is some kind of bug, Google should be made aware of it. Frustrating.

Can't update ANY Google apps, Music, Gmail, etc

As the topic states.. Only seems to apply to Google apps. Keep getting the error:
"Package file not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again."
I'm running Tasks rom, FWIW. I doubt it's a rom issue unless Google apps are no longer playing nice with non stock roms(?)
Anyone else running into this?
I'm able to get around it by un-installing via TiBu, clearing permissions, and clearing Play Store data. But that is a PITA and I don't get any alerts that a Google app needs updating..
One more thing.. I also noticed that the icon for the Play store has changed to the multi colored arrow,
Rehash the Rom, but try using the gapps dl from goo instead of the ones linked in Task's op.
