[Q] cannot install gmail app - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i just installed cm7 and google apps addons... i think i skipped gmail app installation when first boot(after i installed google apps addons zip through recovery)... now when i search for gmail on market.. i don't find it..
i tried website version of market.. i found gmail app.. but when i want to install.. i get "This item is not available on your carrier"........
all this is getting very annoying..... why it's that complicated to install a simple gmail app?

re-flash gapps...
Surprised, as it's a core part of the app.

reflashed 3-4 times in vain... finally got the gmail apk from some black market... normally shouldn't be doing that though :S

now i need google maps... does someone know how to reflash the gapps properly... i reflashed it multiple times.. i only have market

Where are you from? Have you tried an app called marketenabler? It allows you to download apps in market even if they aren't available in your country.

GApps problem
Hi,
I downloaded and installed AppsPackPlus(01-01-12).zip then realised there was no gmail or google play app included in the zip.
So.... I downloaded SPEC-Gapps-4.4.2-BetaV6.zip which is quite a large file, and checked that it did contain them.
However, after installing it, I still have neither app on the phone.
Can anyone explain what's going on?
I've put CWM 11 and KitKat on a Galaxy Ace phone if that is relevant.
Thanks

[Q] Desire Z: Can't update, install or find Google Maps on Market

I have the problem in the title. Of course, all the pre-loaded Google apps do not show in the Markeet downloads and they don't auto-update or show update notifications. I managed to install Youtube, Gmail and a few others by visiting the Market and installing them over the original pre-loaded app (I guess). Now I can find them in Markiet downloads.
The problem I have now is with Google Maps. It's not in the Market downloads, since I never downloaded it from there. But I can't even find it when I search the Market, I can't access any links or barcodes (the result will be "The requested item could not be found"), there seems to be no way for my phone to access a link for downloading Google Maps.
I have the original ROM, no root, and in the Google Maps About section I see "Version: 4.5.1 (#4665) gmm-android-htc". Is it an HTC version of Goole Maps?
What can I do? Do I need an .apk file? Why would this app be forbidden from showing up in Market for my phone? Maybe it's my phone region, but I doesn't make sense.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
These are market glitches and iv had times even on rooted phones with the market not showing certain apps that DO exist. What i did was reinstall the Google bundle apps but since your not rooted i am not quite sure what you can do but wait? or maybe a cache clean or a factory reset if all else fails
... or go settings, apps, running, find market, force stop, clear data. God knows if it'l help at all but always worth a shot.

Bingo! Not available in Romania yet I used temproot and MarketEnabler to get it.
Install the one from http://www.mediafire.com/?54mn0zw747vc1sh - I just got it from my phone.
@ddotpatel,aznsnake666 - Tried clear data, clear cache, etc. but it didn't work.
@keinengel - So I guess you have the same problem. Downloaded the file, it works! But I wonder why Google Maps isn't available for Romania?!?!? Thanks!

Yup, same problem. I think we need to gang up on Vodafone and get them to sign an agreement with Google for paid apps - maybe that'll fix it.
Google Maps was pre-installed in my ROM, so looking in the Market I could still see it though it wasn't showing as "Installed".
I simply clicked on "Install" and the new version overwrote the one in my ROM, and it works fine now.
I still don't get it... why is Google Maps availability depentent on region/carrier? It is a free app anyway. And since I paid for my phone which includes Google Maps, I think I should have access to updates too regardless of what country I'm in.

[Q] Google Mail not available in CM7

Hey,
I've switched recently from Oxygen 2.01 to CM7 RC2. I did a full wipe (factory reset/cache). Then I installed the Google Apps and had the problem that I couldn't download from the Google Market. I reflashed the Google Apps (gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip) and now I could download from market and had apps like Google Maps.
My problem now is: I can't use Google Mail. The Market says that it is already installed on my device but it's not displayed anywhere on the phone. Neither can I choose it with the ADW launcher nor can I see the app in the settings menu of Android. I already cleared my cache again and reflashed a third time the Google Apps.
Can anyone help me with this problem? Or does someone know how I get to the screen where I can choose which Apps from the Google Apps packet I'd like to install ?
reflash is your best bet
If the market is saying its installed, can you uninstall via the market. Then install it again.

Can't uninstall via Market. I will try to reflash CM7.
Ok! For installation of the CM7, I normally do is wipe, install CM7, boot for the first time, don't install gapps just yet. Enter settings and enable your wifi connection. Now boot to recovery then flash the lastest gapps zip, reboot the phone and should have the apps and screen to choose which apps to install from the market. Well! It happens for the first time you use the market app of course.
That how I do things, hope it will help your situation somehow.
Now I've got Gmail installed. But I had to download the .apk file. Couldn't install it through the market.
Thread can be closed. Thanks to everyone.
Just to let you know, the gapps zip file doesn't include any market apps. It only includes the Market (vending.apk) and the Google Account Sync setup. Everything that is Google you need to get from the market.
You could of tried to have used the web market as well to install it. But seems like you didn't fully wipe it or something messed up.
I fully wiped my device twice. Market said that it was already installed but it wasn't.
Hi ekwinoks
I had promblems with the google mail installation. I found out that the Google-Mail app is not available on the german market. So i used the Market unlocker app to download the mail app.

Hmmmm very weird indeed. Did you try the web market?

Anyone else getting package not signed properly from market after new update?

This is for the LDE update. Ive got 6 apps that when trying to update from the market, it doesnt update and says package not signed properly.
The apps Im having problems with are:
Adobe flash player 11
Gmail
Google search
Google Shopper
Street View for Google maps
Youtube
I have tried disabling Lookout as well so it appears the error is coming from android. Im using Whitehawkx's [ROM][STOCK] Deodexed T989UVLDE [5.23.2011] off rootzwiki. I dont know if it matters but the market included in the ROM hasnt updated to PlayStore yet. I do not have it frozen.
Any ideas?
Exact same thing happened to me. I read somewhere to delete the apk from /system/apps with Root Explorer or the like and reinstall via the market. When I tried that with gmail, I just hit an error from the market about the update being incorrect. I ended up just going back to Tuesday.

[Q] Google Play Store starts crashing while downloading

Yesterday, Google Play Store was working flawlessly.
Now, it opens, lists the apps updates and when I try to download, it crashes.
I'm with AOKP jb 4 in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250.
The version of gapps installed with the ROM was 20120726.
Some sites (like goo.im) released 20121011. It does not work either.
I'm flashing gapps and wiping the cache/dalvik each time.
Did you try to wipe market app data and reboot?

Yes. And the problem continues.
If I uninstall the updates, the problem continues.
What can I do now? Am I alone with this?
Force close it and then clear data... when it's done then Download from internet the latest Play Store and install it by replacing the old one..

How? Where do I download the .apk file? Sorry for the silly question...
I've downloaded from here -http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-google-play-apk-3-9-16/
And installed. The app opens and when I try to download it crashes...
Strange that it worked until yesterday...
The strange part: if I login in my PC I can load the Google Play Store and from "My apps" I am able to install new apps and also update the old ones...
What's going on? ???
Know what?
Today it simple disappeared and the apps updated regularly.
Seems that, yesterday, something went wrong in the communication with the Google Play and not in my phone.
I promise: I did nothing to solve (I'm sure I've restored a nandroid of few hours before it starts to happen).

Any experience regarding installing Google apps?

Hi buddies,
1. Do you have any success regarding installig Google apps on Chinese version (M9wp)?
2. May be someone knows how to replace chinese search engine Hidi with google search?
Hi,
Download this GMS from the stock app market (see photo)
Install
Run the app, let it download the package and install it (without SD card)
Reboot the phone
After the reboot I had all the Gapps but most weren't working because the G play services version was not updated,
I downloaded the latest version, installed it than something weird happened, using a VPN of course, I wasn't able to download all the updates of the Gapps while I was able to download any other app from the play store, this for a couple of days while I was looking for a solution, than the third day, without me doing anything I was able to download them and now I have the play store version for all the Gapps and they work
About G search I just put a widget on the home and hid the Chinese hidi

Thank you very much for a detailed information.
What do you think will I need vpn anyway while I'm already in Europe now?
( Already solved this issue)
I have installed GMS. After first run also.downloaded 190mb app package and when I'm trying to open app again to install google apps some chinese warning are popping up.
Well since Google is blocked nowhere but China you shouldn't need a VPN connection, cannot say more than that since haven't used mine outside China, yet.
the first pop up says that you have downloaded the package and asks you if you want to install it,
The second tells you that you have to restart the phone to complete the installation.
Great!
Everything works as you promised.
