Hi guys, pls assist...
I want to hard-reset my Desire but not sure if this will wipe everything (contacts, sms, emails, installed apps, homescreens, settings etc.) Or, will they be backed-up and restored back exactly as it was before(?)
Well, when I applied the latest OTA firmware upgrade, that was the case; I mean everything was in place as if nothing has changed, because in privacy settings "backup my settings" and "automatic restore" options were enabled. May I expect same after a hard-reset too?

Hard reset wipes the data and settings on your phone.
OTA does not.
You should use some kind of backup app in order to restore to the state before the factory reset.
Thx 3722, so I hv decided to postpone this for now..
And, next question in this case, if I use any 3rd party backup app and use it to restore my phone, shall the Market recognize my installed apps as if they have been downloaded and installed via market? Actually that's the only thing keeping me away from hardreset.
Is there any backup utility or a method ensuring installed apps recognized by market after restore?

Titanium Backup is what you need.
Its in the market ;-)

Yes, Titanium is the most popular backup tool and it needs root.
If you don't want to root you can use appbrain app and sync thru appbrain.com once you've reset the phone, to install the apps that you had previously.
Hmm.. I m not rooted and dont want to root just for that (will consider rooting just in case we do not get gingerbread and/or the new sense officially)
As to the appbrain app -already installed in my phone- if i backup/sync apps with appbrain, then will they be linked again to the android market, so that i will be able to get future updates, or only by appbrain?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
When you use appbrain the apps are installed from the android market, so you should have them linked.
See this thread
Thanks for all your valuable input, will give it a try soon.

I accidentally uninstalled "Contacts Storage 2.2.1" with titanium back up. I tried reinstalling it with titanium back up, but it does not work.
What can I do? I lost all of my contacts!
Have you tried pulling it from the original rom you flashed and pushing it into system/app through root explorer?

If u had them backed up on googles cloud thingy, u can odin stock or flash a new rom to get them back
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Just reflash your ROM then you will be able to restore them with Titanium. It needs the system app installed to restore the data. OH, and if you are going to play with deleting system apps, use sdx app removal tool and back them up with the app first.
Relished and fixed.
Thanks.

Okay so I rooted my phone yesterday and I installed Root uninstaller Pro. I deleted a few system applications and now I cannot restore those applications even though I have taken backup of the application. What should I do? Will it get restored back if I factory reset my phone? Is there any other way except factory reset?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using xda premium
you will have to manually install them back in system/app with a file explorer that uses root privileges. Most the time you can find the apks on the net. If that doesn't work, you'll have to re flash.

Please provide more detailed information of the problem.
What did you use to delete them. (What method)
What did you use to back them up. ""
What ROM are you running?
Are you rooted and S-OFF?
Etc.
I purchased Titanium backup Pro and with some of these roms having it installed as a system app, I can't seem to get the pro version to activate. Is there a trick to this? Should I just go into system apps and remove it? I can then get both from the market I think.
And a little bit later, answered my own question.
This worked.
Removed from System\App
Rebooted to recovery and cleared cache and dalvchic
installed both from market... Didn't work
uninstalled both
rebooted
installed both from market and now working.
Yup, you could just remove it, or use another app to move it from system to user

Didn't think of that. I wonder why I had to remove it a second time. Figured there was data stored that foe it confused.

Hi,
I recently updated my Hercules T989 to Jellybean 4.1.2 via Kies. When I was on ICS, I could easily uninstall the t-mobile stock apps(or any other stock apps) using Titanium Backup Pro. But after upgrading to JB 4.1.2, I cant uninstall a single stock app. I tried updating Titanium backup pro from 4.1 to 4.5.6 but its still the same. It can freeze the apps but one app: 't-mobile accounts' unfreezes itself. I dont know how it happens. By the way, the device is rooted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
+1

Go into preferences and scroll down till you find Chuck Norris mode and make sure the box is ticked.. then they to uninstall the app.. other than that I don't know how to help. I have never had that problem with TB

I checked. The chuck Norris mode is on. I froze all the stock Bloatware using titanium backup. But this one app: 'T-mobile My Accounts' unfreezes itself. Still can't find any help, anywhere.

Did u do it in jellybean 4.1.2? As I said earlier, I could successfully uninstall/freeze all those stock apps using TB earlier when my phone was on ICS. This problem arose after I upgraded my firmware.

Are you sure Titanium Backup has root permissions? Check your Superuser app log and make sure they're being granted. You need root access for Titanium Backup to be able to remove/freeze system apps (like the built-in stuff).

Yes, I have rooted my phone after I upgraded the firmware through kies. I checked my root status using the app 'Root Checker Basic'. It says my phone as proper root access.

Yes, I have checked it. TB has been granted root permissions. TB successfully freezes all my system apps. But only one app - "T-Mobile My Accounts" unfreezes itself automatically after a while. I dont know how or why that happens. All my other system apps stay frozen except that one single app. And about uninstalling, none of the system apps can be uninstalled. When I run the batch operation to uninstall, it shows the progress bar but gets stuck at 0%. No progress at all.

my problem along with a screenshot
TB freezes all my stock apps. but as I mentioned earlier, one app - "T-Mobile My accounts" unfreezes itself after a while. And when I try uninstalling any stock apps, it just gets stuck. The progress bar doesnt move (show any progress). I am attaching a link to a screenshot about what happens.

Please if anyone has found the solution to this problem, I would be very very grateful.
PS. : As other members suggested, I have checked everything. The Chuck Norris mode is on. TB has root permissions. Everything seems to be in order.

I have just run into the same problem. T-Mobile My Account will unfreeze itself upon reboot. Any ideas? Would prefer not to uninstall.

Sounds like you are using a stock based ROM then. So you will have to live with that app. Otherwise you may cause problems by trying to delete or freeze it. Anybody that is determined to remove it, you can use a root based file explorer and delete the apk from the system/app folder. Backup the app somewhere by copying & pasting it in another folder, so you can replace it later if you start experiencing issues.
hello guys,
by mistakenly I moved my titanium backup pro as system app,
