(Q) Saving MMS picture to phone - HTC One X

When I try to save pictures that are in mms, I get an error saying insert sd card. Is their anyway to change the location for saving pictures or media from a mms?

try 'download all files' from the market.

Having same issue..."Download all files" does not work

i'm curious about this. are you saying that in mms when you long press the actual photo or the arrow pointing to message options and the option to save pops up, when you select save, that's when you get the sd card message?
maybe try resetting your phone?

Thats exactly the issue. Having same problem here...its just getting VERY annoying to keep restarting the phone to get this to work....

I had the same issue with stock massaging app. Never managed to fix it but Go Sms works fine with saving pictures. The only advice I can give is to use another messaging app. we shouldn't have to though I know.

possibly the stock app mms max size limitation (300k) may be affecting ability to save?

Don't you guys get this pop-up when you long press on the MMS image you want to save? Mine are sent to the downloads folder.

[Q]Pics aren't saving

I have a Desire Z. Everything seems to work well on it but whenever I take a pic with the phone camera it doesn't save to the gallery and then it'll randomly show up weeks to months later. Has anyone had this problem?
Also, When I add a new contact to my phone, it doesn't save it under "people". It's saved in some random area of the phone accessable by searching for the name. Any ideas?

Are you using the stock gallery? If so, I would download QuickPic from the Market as a replacement. The stock gallery has a way of mishandling my media, but QuickPic is near flawless.
With the contacts issue... I have no idea. Are you saving to google - not to phone? How long since you've replaced your SIM card?

I am using the stock picture gallery. I will try DLing quick pic and give that a try.
I'm not sure if it's saving to google not to phone. Is there any way to check that? If I type in a persons name it will show their contact info but if I just go to the people icon and look through the list it won't show them. It's like their hidden contacts.......

You won't be disappointed with QuickPic.
As far as contacts, I'm not really sure where the setting is with regard to saving to google versus phone. It does sound like your contacts are on phone only at this time. If you go to Settings > Accounts > Google is there a box ticked to Sync Contacts? If not, enabled it for sure. I do know that when I "add a contact" I am prompted with the option to save to google (synced) or save to the phone only. Of course, I always choose google.
Perhaps try googling "how to move contacts from phone only to google sync on Android?" Or something like that...
lots say its a bug, appears after GB OTA.
im using quick Pic. solves my problem, faster than stock gallery/sense gallery.

I DL'ed QuickPic, thank you! Great app, solved my missing pictures problem
And you were right, my contacts were being saved to google which wasn't checked off to be shown on my contacts list. So I clicked to add google contacts to list and problem solved.
Thanks for your help

I have the same issue...
The only fix I have found is restarting the phone.
I have posted this question as well, with no answers....
Fix
I solved this issue by installing a 3rd party sms app (like chomp or go sms) and saving it from there.

I appreciate your thoughts, but I really want to stick with the stock messenger.
I will say that messaging around in the messanger settings ,hitting the default settings tab has fixed this issue so far

Seems like the reset worked for me aswell. I never had this issue when I first got the phone, this is something that seems to have happened during on of the upgrades, at least for me.
Also the option to set save point for images is grayed out in the MMS settings, I checked the selected value and even though the settings says to save to the phones storage it still asks for the SD card.
Anyhow I'm glad the reset worked. thanks for the answer

Cant send attachments from SD card

Maybe it's just me, but I am thinking not as I have seen this on two notes and two galaxy S3 devices.
When using the native email client to connect to exchange (haven't checked pop email) email with attachments from the external SD card will not send.
The files attach fine, thumbnails are visable, then when you hit send it goes to the outbox, immediatly after a message will come up saying that the send failed.
If you move the same file to the internal memory and recompose your email it sends fine.
Can someone else try this and tell me if i am nuts, or if you have heard of this on any samsung device and know of the resolution please tell me. I have googled the crap out of it and there are threads like this for various other touchwiz devices. I have tried it on several roms including stock with no luck. It "may" be an activesync thing with my server, however I doubt it.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
I have tried sending to my work email and I can't send through Gmail from my external card either. I don't get the send error though, the attachment just doesn't show up at the other end. I copied the file to the internal card and it sent fine.

Very odd. I have read that as well on some other threads, but I do not have that problem.. I confirmed as I typed this. I have no problems sending attachments from external SD from gmail, just the samsung mail client. My procedure was to open a picture from the gallery and choose share, then gmail, then add a addressee and a subject, hit send. No problem, attachement sends, and I checked my other account and it arrived without issue.

Yeah I googled the crap out of it, seems there are about a dozen threads like this one for several different samsung phones dating back about 6-8 months that all end unresolved or no one has posted the solution. Thing is if it is that wide spread of an issue there should be alot more noise about it. These devices are business devices and using the exchange client is one of their primary function, that is why I would like someone to confirm that it works for them.

I just sent myself a test message with an attachment from the external SD card and it worked (exchange online/Office 365).
I started a new message, clicked the paperclip icon, went to "My Files", selected extSDCard, navigated to an image, hit the checkbox and pressed "Done". Back to message, pressed "Send" and it worked fine?
I also shared directly from the album, no issues that way either.
Just did it again with a 20MP image and while it took awhile on 3G it definitely worked.
Do you use certificates or anything like that in your exchange setup?
I can also say I mispoke when I said it was the SD card. Further testing reveals it may have something to do with MIME tipes. I.E. I can send txt files from the sdcard just not jpg or xml.
No certificates, and I sent myself jpeg files - in fact that's all I tested. Do you think the failure is on your phone at the email client level or at the Exchange level? It may be hard to tell. You could always spin up a temporary hosted exchange account somewhere else (many of them offer free trial periods) just to see if it happens with another provider.
You could also try another email client like enhanced email or touchdown.
Last step would be to (unfortunately) hard reset the device, set up Exchange again first and run the test again before installing any apps or making any changes to settings.

(MOD) Automatically download MMS(Group Messaging and Pictures)

If you are like me and don't have a good amount of data on your provider than you probably keep your data off for the most part. Unfortunately when someone send you an MMS message you have to turn on data to get it, and half the time you don't know when you recieved an MMS when you have data turned off. With this simply line of code you can now send an MMS with data turned off and it will automatically turn data on when sending and turn it off when it is finished. This also works with recieving MMS. When your messaging app determines someone has sent an MMS message it will turn on data and then turn it off when it is finished downloading.
Requirements:
Must be rooted
File editing application
Go into system/csc/ and look for Feature.xml
Scroll to the bottom and add this line exactly:
<CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>true</CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>
After this save your .xml and make sure permissions are set to rw--r--r--.
Reboot.
To test this simply send a group message or picture with your data off and if it sends it worked.
Thanks! Enjoy!
Awesome!...Its perfect for people like us like you said. The reason I keep my data off is to disable anything from going online without my permission and also for the obvious battery life savings...except when I'm at work were I gotta keep them emails syncing ! Anyways...will this work even if your NOT using the stock sms/mms app? I like using Handcent. Thx homie.

I tried using the stock sms/mms app...nothing. I tried this time adding the line NOT at the bottom but were the "RIL" section is in the XML file but still nothing. Am I missing something?

[Q] Problems when trying to send pics

My girlfriend's s3 is telling her that memory is full when she's trying to send me pics or vids. She has very sufficient amount of space on external and internal memory so know that isn't a problem. Do you guys have any idea as to what it can be?
So she can take the pics and videos but just not send them? Maybe try another messaging app. I've been using gosms since the beginning and never had problems with it

I run into this problem occasionally on chompsms too. A force kill usually fixes the problem.

So go to setings then to the apps section and then to the specific app and force stop it? Then try it again? What about if she deletes unwanted files in the whatsapp folder that's automatically saved then see if she can send?

I have my phone set up with the back button to kill, so I just open chomp and use the back button to kill and open again. As for the other question, I'm not sure. Is she rooted? If so, install xposed and I believe wanum has the option of back button to kill.
