Fix for Wifi Indicator ICS - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I think I found a fix for people having problems with the grey wifi indicator and I shortended my SSID for my router and it went blue and the wifi indicator works now can anyone else comfirm this works?

I can't confirm that shorter names make it work BUT my wifi has a 4-letter name.....

I've been running darkside v7 for last few days and have not experienced any issues. What issues are you having?
Cant seem to get full wifi when im a room away from the router and wifi calling rarely pops out and this happens in different locations with different routers

I've had wifi calling disconnects occur at my office occasionally with other roms and typically disabling / re-enabling wifi calling would correct this problem. Sometimes a reboot would also be required. Were you previously using another ICS rom that was working for you? Assuming you've tried the aforementioned steps, I would suggest verifying that the rom download is good and then reflash the rom after a darkside superwipe.

I have also had that problem, I had my wireless router exchanged thinking it was just putting out crappy signal. I moved it out from under the desk where I figured that would also better the strength - but I'm one room over with thin walls and still, terrible wifi signal. Went back to GB to inspect and its great reception. Wifi calling not dropping out in the middle of phone calls now also. The only problem is I can't keep away from ICS so I'm just not using it until something gets adjusted.

Sprint WIFI Bug?

Tried looking for the answer on the forums but couldn't find an answer. I got the wifi bug where your wifi turns on randomly throughout the day. Does anyone know if a fix or if Samsung is in the process of making an OTA fix?

Go to system settings>> wireless and networks >>more settings>> mobile networks>>uncheck automatic connections
Sprint versions have this option to disable it.
Has anyone noticed on certain networks that wifi is continuously downloading(incoming arrow always lit)... i wonder if it has to do with the auto connection thing? Doesnt seem to be affecting batt life but its kind of annoying... at my house it does it but not at work... maybe a router issue?

Wifi Photo Upload issues

This seems to be on all ROMs so might just be my phone. But if I upload a photo to say Facebook on Wi-Fi it stays at 0% then I have to kill Wi-Fi and it errors then I reupoload via 3g no problem. On all Wi-Fi networks. I only get it to work maybe 1 outta 10 tries. Anyone else have this? And is there a fix if so? Thanks

[Q] note 2 wifi issue on at&t

i just bought the galaxy note 2.. love the phone' however i cant stay connected to my wifi for some reason it connects them a minute later goes back into 4g mode please help...
I thought it was the phone so replaced it... same issue how ever it will connect to att hotspots.. go figure thanks
I'd say check your router first. Mine at home is a pain sometimes with my sons' ipod touches plus desktop plus netbook plus tablet plus my phone sometimes it drops. We end up turning it off for a few seconds which fixes it. Overload I guess?
There is also a known issue with the att wifi app. I forget what is called because i got rid of it a long time ago but it seems to be a culprit in some cases a well. You could find it if you search the forums I'm sure.

Had a similar issue... dropping of wifi radio... the workaround when using the ATT wifi manager was to go into the phone's wifi menu and disable power saving... *#0011# select menu... then wifi submenu.
Or.. just freeze or remove the ATT wifi app and use Smart WiFi Toggler from Google Market... works well!

Disable att smart wifi. That works for me.
Definitely a router issue. I use WPA2 PSK with DHCP and I haven't had any issues. I have had problems in the past using WEP with my phones. Once I changed to WPA it was fine. Maybe try that.

Thank you, this worked, I think removing the latest update for AT&T smartwifi did it for me, whatever I now have wifi again.
I'll take a look at Smart Wifi Toggler

Signal meter shows empty, but has signal

Guys I need some help. I flashed the newest Jedi, let it settle for 10 and rebooted. Everything works great, call quaility is great, but the signal meter is blank. The phone will make and recieve calls, but the meter is blank. I reflashed and its exactly the same. HELP
Thanks
You have WiFi calling enabled...when WiFi calling is enabled and you are connected to WiFi your signal will show empty. Your signal will show when you aren't connected to WiFi or when you disable WiFi calling
